I was going to ask are you caught in the blackouts I'm seeing on the news? Dopey question. Anyhoo, if you're reading this after the power comes back on, how did you cope? What Instructables could you use to make life easier? UPDATE: And, if you're an engineer, could you design a better system where a single throw of a switch on a substation blacks out five million people, shuts down two nuclear reactors and even closes beaches? The outage was triggered after a piece of equipment was switched off at a substation in Arizona, officials said. ... Daniel Froetscher, a vice-president at APS, told the Associated Press news agency the malfunction at the substation was "not a deliberate act". "The employee was just switching out a piece of equipment that was problematic," Mr Froetscher said.

Hello, I am having trouble staying logged in to my account. I am accessing the site on a Surface Pro running Windows 10 on the latest chrome update, and run the "HTTPS Everywhere" extension. I can log in and view my collections and profile and all that, but when I view an individual instructable I get logged out. If I click on the Log In button at the top it logs me in without prompting for a password, but it sends me back to the home page. This process seems to repeat ad infinitum, so I can't access premium features and I can't save favorites. A little annoying! Any ideas?

A new series started on CBC Radio this week, here in Canada. All of you should give this a listen. The link is to the shows home page for the first episode, but can be had through Itunes to receive it automatically. This first one concerns the "God Light" and what the inventor went through. Could be one of us is not far behind. http://www.cbc.ca/outoftheirminds/ Enjoy

So recently, in the past week or so, I've noticed that the Instructables login/profie/status bar thing at the top right has been a little confused as to whether i'm logged in or not on various pages. For example, (Note: I'm currently logged in throughout) > Visiting the Instructables Home page I now see the "signup / login links". > Clicking on Answers / Contests / another instructable shows that I'm logged in with "You / Inbox / Shortcuts / Log out". This used to work fine 2 weeks ago, I haven't updated my system or software - Did wonder if it's an issue with cookies or something? Mac OS X 10.6.7 Safari 5.0.4 Does anyone else have the same problem?

I have my netbook set to automaticaly log me into the site when I go online. Conker-X wants to check his account, but when I hit "logout", it doesn't. My PC, though, does log out when I try. Both machines are running FireFox 10.0.2 under XP Home edition.

I want toget out. There are no options for unsubscribe available. I do not understand why. I was looking for something about animation instruction and got caught up wih this I am 68 and donot have time nor inclination to become involved with this stuff. Please get me out. I read a notice there somewhere where someone else wanted out and couldn't. If another comment is valid thn the company is dishonest. That is that they want the site to increase and that seems to be why nobody is able to unsubscribe. I hope he as wrong. Could someone somewhere get me unregistered from "Instructables." I see that over the last 8 years there have been over 50 people emailing about getting logged out. But they get logged out during one session. My question is why am i getting logged out daily. All my other sites (except financial...) let me stay logged in for days at a time. So that means my cookies are working. Do you require us to relog in every 24 hours? atilla

I have not used this site in quite some time now, but I do have an account. Today as I was viewing the site, I have had to log in over 7 times while reading a single instructable on 4 pages. I keep getting automatically logged out. In one instance of logging back in, I got an error saying that my account was not found?

I can't utilize the site properly at all. Every time I click on a link to a project, it logs me out completely. I can't add to a collection, or favorite things, or anything. I'm working strictly from a desktop computer, and am a new user (just set up today). ETA: I was trying to use the site with Google Chrome and it wasn't working. I've now switched to Mozilla Firefox and am able to use the site.

I have a peavey special 212 which is probably about 16 years old now and has only been gigged 3 times. I can't think when it last got turned even half way up. I'd like a valve amp and was wondering if I could just get a low powered valve head and use it to drive the peavey's speakers bypassing its electronics. In effect just using the peavey as a speaker cabinet. Looking to save spending needlessly but keep my options open volume wise. Any suggestions much appreciated?

Over roughly the last 24-36 hours, the site has started logging me out if if follow links to projects. Not every time, but I am currently having to log in three or four times per session on the site. For instance, if I am logged in and browsing the recent page in desktop view, and I click on a thumbnail, I get taken to the project, but arrive on the mobile site, and not logged in. When I switch back to desktop view, I am still not logged in. The same happens if I follow a link to a project from a "subscription update" email. It's not just "arriving on the site and having to log in", if I am already on the site and logged in, then follow a link from an email, the tabs I already have open get logged out as well. This is using an Android tablet with up-to-date browser.

I use FireFox (8.1.0). When I enter the instructables site, the login links are in the upper right corner. When I click the login (not Facebook, the regular one) the entire set of login links disappear, but the login dialog does not appear. To get the login to appear, I click the favorites icon to get it to show me the logon dialog. Is it Firefox, or you? BlueGull

We have all seen this topic many, many times. No matter how many people we explain this too, more come back the next day with the same problem. Perhaps it would be best to add an obvious message following publishing explaining that instructables will not show up straight away. All other ideas welcome, please discuss.

When we are forced to leave town in an emergency, we will grab our food supply, water, clothing, blankets, and valuables from our home. My bucket will have all the little things you could use in any survival situation such as being stuck on the interstate for days in winter or extreme heat that you wouldn't think about in your hurry to leave. Batteries corrode, liquids spill, food medicines become outdated, What great survival tools are there and how do you use them. I want to be the best prepared survivor on the interstate or stuck in the wilderness (with my car) until it blows over..

I am very angry and kind of depressed now.....I have fallen out with a friend, and i am pissed off.( this is at dinnertime - on the school playground BTW)It all started when i called him ( stuart) something ( daddy's little wh*re) as a joke. I always tease him and he just puches me , and then we carry on as normal. But i realised i went too far then, ( it was un-intentional; like a spur of the moment how i always tease him). I aploigised twice then, but then he chased me - he is very fast and this time he had a very angry look on his face! I quickly ran in a cicle and then ran straight outa the school gates for dinner- to avoid beatings. When i returned to school on the same day, I tried to avoid him incase i get hit, but i couldn't since my best friend hangs out with him, and i wanted to talk to him. So when walked up i imediatly got chased off ( but i was able to say sorry twice again). So next break i walked up again, But i got pushed, then kicked very hard on my arse by stuart. Then i got chased again and got puched twice. I decide to avoid him and ,my other friend totally for the remaining lessons.(TODAY), I normally walk with him too school and back form school. So when morning came, i got ready and left the house. I spotted him ( stuart) behind me and decided to carry on walking - too see what he would do..... Once he caught up he walked off! ahead leaving me behind! ( I thought the guy would off cooled down by now). Once i caught up with him i said:" hello. Are you still in a mood with me?"Stuart: " fuck off , i don't wanna walk with you, so get lost"Me: " why man? please, i said sorry lots of times...come on!"stuart : " Fuck off "I just realised he was angry and then just carried on walking to school away from him. I avoided him for most of the day, until maths finished:I was walking with another friend on the playground, then i saw stuart with his 2 friends ( one of them is also my friend) walking the opposit direction towards me.:When we were pararllel he got out his hand and pushed me really hard!me: " what the fuck did you do that for? I didnt do nothin' to you! "He smirked, and then walked off saying nothing.I am really angry and depressed now. I didnt go back after dinnertime today. Cause I am that down.. :-(Ive said sorry countless of times and ment it but he wouldn't listen. He just gets ready to hit me.I can't even hang out with my other friends because half of my friends ( he hangs out with). So im worried if i go up to them he might start a fight wich i don't wanna do. He is the tallest in year 9 twice the size of me, and pretty big. ( i know it would be a un fair fight ida get beaten). And now i havn't got anyone to walk to school with , which sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know what to do?!?!?Personally i think he's acting childish. Ive apoligised lots and he won't listen. Thank you for reading this extreamally long post!!! Please Help with sensible advice.

On certain cameras, DVD players, VCR players it has the red, yellow and white "out", if I were to have a spy camera with the yellow and white "out" how would I record that in the space of a largish pocket? Kipkay's Instructable features the exact same style of camera (go here www.instructables.com/id/Covert-Spy-Sunglasses/)Pic is of my one, not my picture though (sorry). Red is for power.

I'm using Windows 7 on a desktop PC with Firefox 28.0 as the browser. When I go to https://www.instructables.com/id/Create-faceted-paper-objects/ it shows me as being logged out and won't let me log in. When I navigate to any other page on the website, I'm logged in as usual. I've tried getting to this page via the papercraft contest as well as copying and pasting the link into my address bar.
