Battery charger output

Hello, I have a Black and Decker 14.4 Volt Drill. The diode on the charger doesn't light up anymore so I don't know if the charger is working properly. It can use one of two different battery chargers. I measured the voltage where the battery plugs into the charger and I get 0.04 volts. I'm not a guy who understands electricity so I'm trying to find out what the voltage should read where the battery plugs into the charger. I'd appreciate any help. 1. FS14C 2. FSMVCThank you Frank

Use Output as Input

Hi ! I have this program, Finale 2005b. I've searched everywhere, and I cannot find any way to export the music I produce in there as a real audio file (NOT a midi). So, to achieve this, I have decided to record the output as the input... using Audacity , actually. To do so, I used a simple mono cable to go from my headphone to mic plugs, and set the volume to the minimum... to avoid too much amplitude going in. Now, for the use I want it, this method is way too dodgy (plenty of interference, specially each time I move the cable 1 mm...) I'm pretty sure there is some program or solution to directly map the stream around... I don't have much funds, so free would be good, and btw I work on Win32. Thanks

Infrared Variable Output? Answered

I am trying to wire some infrared LEDs to an Arduino. Problem is, the signal from the infrared LEDs has to be able to change variably, like from a potentiometer. What I mean is, I am aware you can read an ouput from an IR LED, then use the Arduino to replicate this and consequently control things, but what if I wanted to ouput a signal that changed, like a potentiometer? Basically, I would like to be able to control some motors speed through PWM by a potentiometer, but wirelessly. I'm not sure if this is possible, and if it is, is there some information I could look into? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Consistent output with arduino

Hi guys! I have a little project that i could use some help with. I am quite new to the arduino, and not that steady in the code, but im hoping on getting there! The project im building is a litte controller that drives a relay output. The controller is connected to a photo-cell that has a two pin output. This output is shorted at various times depending on the movement in front of the photocell. What i need is for the arduino to close the relay for the same period (say 0,5s) each time the photocell circut is closed. And maybe block a repeating signal from the photocell within 0,5s Is this possible in some way? Any help much appreciated!

Specific output of current? Answered

I'm getting a little more knowledge about current measured in mA, but it's still all confusing. From my understanding, your project draws the current needed out of your battery. If my LED uses 25 mA, then the LED will be sucking 25 mA from the battery. If I have two LEDs, then it would be sucking 50mA from the battery, thus reducing its life. So, based on that, how can wall warts have a specific output of amps? How can a wall wart put out 1000 mA? If you use a project that only takes 700mA what happens to the other 300 mA? What if your project use 1,500 mA? And. . . How do you measure the current being pulled through a basic circuit and your average 555 circuit? Thanks,

How to protect OpAmp output?

Hi, I have an OpAmp which controlls the Gate of a MOSFET. When the MOSFET dies, sometimes the voltage it's running on (50V) somehow gets to stand over the OpAmp's output which destroys it. What's the best way to protect the OpAmp from the high voltages that get to stand over the output? Will a zener do the trick? Trigger transformer won't be easy to use here because It's a PWM controller so I need nice block waves. Diode on the output? but won't this be bad for delivering good current to the Gate? ... Any ideas?

where are the outputs on this wireless receiver Answered

Hi, i am planning on buying, and another instructables member already has, buying this wireless receiver (comes with a transmitter), for use in whatever we desire to use it for! heres lins to two images of it, i dont understand a bit of it, only i see the inputspostive and negative, and the outputs positives, but thats it , which make no sense to me. http://downloads.villageorigin.com/001540-015/Diagram%202.JPG http://downloads.villageorigin.com/001540-015/Diagram1.JPG anyway, what i know is where the positive and negative terminals are, also, the othe rmember has already tried running this using the ground terminal as the negative for the outputs, but says it does ot work at all, and that is the only thing which seems to make sense. also, this is the only thing the ebay seller could give me in regards to operating and installing this chip into anything, because they know nothing of it, and asume that the ebay users who buy it already know how to use it. anyways, there are several ports d0,d1,d2,d3 vt, vcc, and ground al the d's are the output ports, vt is called switching voltage and is assigned to an output depending on what button is pressed on the receiver, and thats all the information i have gotton. and from what i know, its inoperable, but then again, i dont know much about that stuff also, who ever shos me how this work, i promise wil get a "best answer" from me.

It will work either way, I can wire the speakers in series to give them a 130w handling power when they're both hooked up to one output. Thanks!

Magnetron output power and design? Answered

So I've been looking into the design and operating principles of cavity magnetrons and I have some questions that I can't find answers to. What exactly determines the output power of a magnetron? Is it just a matter of how much voltage you put in and if so, is there a limit to how much voltage can be put in? If there is a limit, what properties of the magnetron set the limit? If it's not that, than does the output power have to do with the number of resonator cavities the magnetron has? Sorry if this is a lot of questions, and if I'm misunderstanding something about all this (which is more than likely) or what I'm asking is unclear, please let me know.

more output current with LM317 ?

Hi, for some time I have been wondering if I can make LM317 to output more than 1.5Amps. After many hours of searching I found that I can achieve this in 2 ways. The circuits are in LM317 datasheet which can be downloaded from here : http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/lm317.pdf 1- By using a transistor with LM317 (page 16) . 2-By using several LM317 regulators in parallel and using TL080 (page 15). Second one seems better IF load is equally divided between regulators, it also has the benefit of producing less heat when  high currents are drawn. My question is: will the second circuit (LM317s in parallel) work and output more than 2Amps? is load equally divided between regulators in this design ? can I replace TL080 with another IC ? By the way, there is a circuit in page 12 called "tracking preregulator" , what is the purpose of this design ? PS. I know there are switching regulators which output more current, but I'd like to experiment with LM317.

Rotary potentiometer to pulse output.

Hello everyone, I'm having a challenge!I'm working on a code for my Arduino UNO.In this project, I will be using a rotary potentiometer to emit a keyboard signal for a simulation. when the potentiometer is being rotated I want to change the speed in the simulation, this normally works with a single keypress. So when it is rotated, the output I want is only ONE press when rotated a certain value. I want the Arduino to give a single pulse when the variable of the analog input has a certain change in value.Example: If the value changes from 0 to 1, I want to have ONE signal pulse to use as a keyboard signal.Example: if the value changes from 7 to 6, I want to have ONE signal pulse to use as a keyboard signal.I hope you can help me with this :)This is the code i use to separate the value into 30 units instead of 1023:const int analogInPin = A0; // Analog input pin that the potentiometer is attached toint sensorValue = 0; // value read from the pot int outputValue = 0; // value outputvoid setup() { // initialize serial communications at 9600 bps: Serial.begin(9600); }void loop() {// read the analog in value: sensorValue = analogRead(analogInPin); // map it to the range of the analog out: outputValue = map(sensorValue, 0, 1023, 0, 30); // change the analog out value:// print the results to the Serial Monitor: Serial.print("sensor = "); Serial.print(sensorValue); Serial.print("\t output = "); Serial.println(outputValue);delay(2); }

Determining the amperage output of transformers?

I have two giant audio transformers that put out about 70 volts each. I want to determine what the maximum amount of current they can supply is, because they're really nice transformers, and I wouldn't want to break them by over-heating them. Is there any way to do this mathmatically? I have a multimeter that can measure ohms and voltage, but it can't measure watts, and the fuses for the ammeter are blown, and I can't replace them right now. Bear in mind that this is about as much as I know about the transformers, other than they're heavy, and that primaries are 120 volts each.

Measuring a Bluetooth modules output? Answered

There is a serial Bluetooth module that I have used before on an Arduino project but now I'm trying to use in a project without the Arduino. Basically I need it to be an electronic trigger, I don't care really what the signal is just how long and the voltage and current. There are 4 pins on the module: Vcc, GND, Tx, and Rx. There are 2 open pads: Key and State. When I send a command from my phone the module sends a signal out the Tx pin, and it is this signal I would like to measure so I can pick a command with an appropriate signal and tailor the rest of the circuit accordingly. I tried a voltmeter between Tx and GND but saw no signal on any level measuring DC. Is there something I'm missing? Is the signal more complex or different, or is that test setup flawed? I tried other combinations, Rx-GND, Tx-Rx, RX-Tx, GND-Tx, GND-Rx but saw nothing.

why is my 433MHz wireless receiver outputting a 6Hz pulsating output?

Hello, i recently bought this receiver http://www.dinodirect.com/315MHz-433MHz-Wireless-Receiver-Board-Module-AK-R02A.html and have tried it out with my 433MHz transmitter, and something strange happens. im using it to light up an led, and the led is flashing at what ive calculated is about 6Hz. why is it doing this? for some reason it ceases to do this when i hold the antenna of my transmitter within 2-3cm of where the antenna of the receiver should be (i havent added an antenna yet), and the frequency drops the further away the transmitter is, though not by much, maybe down as low as 4hz at 30M. could this have something to do with the fact that the frequency crystal says R315A? does this mean that its 315MHz and not 433MHz like my transmitter?, i wouldn't expect it to work though, and i did order it as 433MHz or could it be just the led? i have nothing else which i can use to tell otherwise. what i want the receiver board for is to power a relay. i haven't got the relay yet though. will this cause the relay to rapidly switch on and off? the transmitter i am using is a standard 4 channel 433Mhz transmitter (brown wood style plastic cover) standard with any wireless modules available on eBay and receiver transmitter combos on dinodirect. on both ebay and dinodirect, none of the sellers have a clue about where the datasheet for this is, or how they work (i doubt at dinodirect they even know what it is).

I have a variable 0-12v DC output which has a maximum output of 1 amp. I have a fixed 16v AC output which has a maximum output of 1 amp. I am looking at how to combine the two so as to power a model with the variable DC output and also power lighting on the AC through a capacitor to filter the DC out. Also, I would rather it was nearer 6v AC at the output. Would this just be a matter of a simple step-down transformer before they are combined? Essentially, I am looking to replicate the functionality of this product for less than £42.95. This is too expensive especially when I need two of them.
