So, I am doing a science fair project about what pH level is best for sea monkeys and what happens with the other levels. Dies anyone know how to adjust the pH levels easily in such a small amount of water??

Hello i just went to the dump shop and picked up a 4kg bag of bicarb soda as ph buffer for free, and when i got home, i noticed it smelt of ammonia, so i though it might have some ammonium carbonate, so i figured i could get rid of it by adding some water to the ph buffer and then boiling it. however, i have noticed that it turned my hands blue, and although the blue washed off, i am now hazardous as to what else may be in thr ph buffer, although it states sodium bicarbonate is the active ingredient. i plan on dividing it, selling 2kg on my site in 250g batches for $2 each, and the other i plan to use as a sodium source for my sodium reduction cell. i need to know though, what the other chemicals in the pool buffer are so i can state the purity of the ph buffer. also will anything lebeled as "soda ash" be pure sodium carbonate?

Hi all,I'm in need of help. Due to my previous jobs and general knowledge a friend has asked me if I could build an automatic pH regulation system that will monitor and maintain two tanks (it sounded easy to me at the time) but I've suddenly found myself out of my depth.Having spent long evenings searching on the web and on here, I've seen a few builds of monitors and a couple of dosing systems but none are just what is wanted as they are only set up for single tanks, or not combined into an auto-doser, or too "over-tech'd" or multi-purpose orientated and I don't have the knowledge to adapt or alter things to my requirements. Plunging straight in at the deep end with no real idea of what I'm doing and can actually be done, I'm thinking I should be able to (theoretically) assemble and program an Arduino controlled system, with the one box doing the job of monitoring and regulating both tanks independently, so two sensors, pumps etc., from what I gather it's by adding different boards to the base unit (I did say I know nothing). I don't need wifi or anything like that, just a simple device with a basic display showing the current values that will sit there and just do the job.I think I have the capability to actually build and program the thing having a background in electrics and a little knowledge of relay control systems - not electronics, I start getting lost just after the transistor/diode level and BASIC is more my programming level (yes, I may be THAT old, but I'm still trying to learn), and so what would really help me is if anyone out there can point me towards a site or pages where I can find the info I need, hopefully that doesn't assume years of prior experience, to either build or adapt something to what I want, or even aim me towards someone who could be able to supply me a design and components list, either for fee or free. Cheers!

HI. My mom is bed ridden and we have to give her baths in bed. We have tried several different foaming no-rinse soaps and have found on that works the best: Medline Remedy 4-in-1 Body Cleanser. It is good in so many ways, pH Balanced, Non-allergenic, leaves her skin soft, smells great...nice sort of mango-vanilla smell. Problem is, it's $10 + per bottle, depending on where we get it. Here is the product description: Remedy 4-in-1 Body Cleanser cleanses, moisturizes, provides mild protection against transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and nourishes skin in one step. Helps reduce odor. Optimizes shelf space and nursing time. Ready-to-use, no-rinse foam stays in place to prevent product spills, waste and patient discomfort. One bottle contains over 340 pumps of foam.Harsh soaps and surfactants strip skin of moisture and contribute to TEWL. Remedy 4-in-1 Cleansers have a phospholipid base that binds both water and nutrients to gently clean and condition the skin. Remedy cleansers contain ingredients derived from natural and organic oils that mimic the body's natural lipids. Remedy cleansers can also be used during showers in place of soaps. The phospholipids will gently cleanse the skin without stripping it from its natural oils.Olivamine is a blend of antioxidants, amino acids, vitamins and methylsulfonylmethane (MSM). These ingredients are all known to play a vital role in basic cellular construction and protection. Olivamine contains antioxidants like hydroxytyrosol, the most potent antioxidant known today (derived from olives). It also contains amino acids like L-proline, L-cysteine and glycine - three of the main building blocks of collagen. These components are also treated with photoacoustic resonance to help minimize the tendency for inflammation, and to ensure they can be rapidly accepted by the skin.No-rinse foam for head-to-toe cleansing and conditioning. Indicated for hair, body, perineal and peristomal areas.Remedy is a trademark of Medline Industries, Inc. UPC is: 0 80196 30616 2 CAN ANYONE COME UP WITH A LESS EXPENSIVE, HOME-MADE OPTION TO THIS? Thanks

What are some easily-obtainable flavors that have a pleasant taste when in an alkaline solution? Are there any suitable for flavoring a sweet beverage with an overall pH of 7 or above? (By alkaline, I mean actually has pH greater than 7 in your mouth. I'm not referring to those lists of foods floating around alternative medicine sites that are claimed to raise your urine pH.)

Recently I came across a brand of water called blk, named for the black appearance of the water caused by the addition of fulvic acid. The manufacterer's website states that it is "exceptionally pure artesian spring water" with the addition of the company's blend of fulvic and humic acid. Now, we all know that the PH of pure water is 7, but if we add acid, wouldn't that make it more acidic? Apparently not, seeing as the manufacturer's website also states that the PH of blk water is 9, making blk water more basic than regular water. I would think the fulvic/humic acid's addition would make the PH acidic, not basic. Can anyone explain this?

So I'm struggling to create clickable headers which move you to the second, third, and so on, level within this menu. I've successfully made it so I can scroll through three separate pages and select 5 separate headers on each page (as you can see here) but I can't seem to figure out how to go about adding more levels to my menu. I'd really appreciate it if someone had a look and gave me some guidance. As for my skills level, I'd say I've had a few years experience but still am not 100% fluent in all aspects of Arduino so some dumbing down may be necessary. Any help or guidance is appreciated thank you!!I've attached the code. "Aquarium_Controller_V1" is the main bit of code.**EDIT** -I've been playing around with the code some more and I think I have it figured out! But now my issue is that when I'm on a page that isn't the first level, I don't want the X-axis of the joystick to ++ or -- the PageVal. Any advice as to how I should go about that? Heres my new updated code.

Instructable had this great article on how to connect several sensors from Atlas Scientific to the Arduino MEGA 2560 board. See here:How-to-Make-a-Data-Logger-for-the-Temperature-PH-a/Unfortunately the 2560 does not have Wifi.I was wondering whether there is a similar write-up on connecting the same Atlas Scientific temp-, DO- and pH probes to the new ESP8285 IOT board, which does have Wifi. See here for detail:ESP8285 IOT BoardIt would be a great day if I can get some instructions and help on how-to as this is my first project of this nature. :)

It is not often that you encounter a googol as a "measured" (or inferred) quantity referring to something physical. A preprint out today on arXiv:astro-ph presents a calculation of the total entropy of the observable Universe (in units of Boltzmann's constant, k), coming up with a result Sobs = 3 × 10104 k. The dominant contribution is from supermassive galactic black holes, for which the entropy is proportional to their surface area, which in turn scales like the mass squared.

I just read about these substances that are usually sold in mini spray bottles or aerosol cans. They are supposed to be very useful when you apply a cyanoacrylate (CA) glue (aka superglue, etc.) over a somewhat large, flat surface, as they enhance the alkaline conditions to speed up the polymerization of the CA. Given this information, does anybody know if a CA accelerator can be made from scratch by regular high pH household materials, like ammonia or sodium hydroxide? If so, what concentration do you think would work?

Statistics and chemistry equations are some of the most complex calculations for people who did not grow up in a science background but are essential for students looking to further their degrees in fields that require bio chemistry while students excel in practicals its the calculations that cause problems like log, ph calculations, various option in statistics when to use which rule. A better tutorial for college level statistics and from basic chemistry to college level would be appreciated by various students the world over. Thank you in advance all areas of these two fields would be appreciated.

My husband has a Sprint Kyocera flip phone. It is the kind that has the walkie-talkie function. He works on the big Caterpillar machines and just sets his phone down next to him. Last week it vibrated off and was lost in the mud. I bought in a new one and he lost that one also, but found it. Oddly these were the first phones he lost in years. I want to add a magnet to the back of the phone so that when he sets it down it does not vibrate off of the metall? Will this hurt the phone?

Here's what I've got: -Violin is made in China, but it's somehow better and lasted longer than most violins here in the PH (Philippines) -I have a pitch pipe to assist in tuning, but when I hit D, it's somehow muffled (in a way) and I can't hear it clearly, so I can't differentiate between what I'm playing on D at the moment, and the pitch pipe output.

In my instructable about making an aluminum ring, I made two aluminum rings, one for my girlfriend and one for myself. Mine is still fine; however, hers keeps turning black (oxidizing). I understand this is because she is a girl and her skin pH is different than mine (more basic); but I am curious if there are any techniques on how to prevent this from happening. The ring needs to be polished using aluminum cleaner every other week, but if there was a way to keep its mirror finish, that would be fantastic. Thank you!

Hello, i just ripped apart a sealed lead acid battery, and have salvaged the plates, but now i have a problem, two actually i have two types of plates one is red-brown, the other, light grey , which i suspect is just lead, which, through my powers of deduction leaves me to beleive the redish crystaline substance that makes up the positive plates must be lead sulfate. what i want to know, is what this red substance is, and if it is lead sulfate, how do i convert it into sulfuric acid? ive tried electrolysis, but the ph doesnt seem to change beyond normal, for plian old hho electrolysis! am i getting something wrong here?

Via The UberReview"It is not too often that we associate solar-powered with anything fast and or furious, but perhaps it is time that we start. The Czeers MK1 is a 10-meter vessel covered in photovoltaic cells that is capable of hitting speeds of up to 30 knots (55.5 km/ph to you non-nautical folks out there). While there are certainly faster boats on the water, those tend to use obscene amounts of fuel. The solar-powered Czeers MK1 is naturally going to be a lot quieter than its gas guzzling cousins, which would make it great for sneaking up over fish (though there is limited space to put them if you catch them. I would like to see a similar model with little bit more space for passengers, even if it did mean sacrificing some speed. Speedboats are so limited in what they are able to do, but if this had a little extra space, it could do so much more."

Only very recently i've been hearing a sound in my headphones and it sounds exactly like when i would recieve a text message or a phone call(with a much older pair of headphones). The difference being there is no phone anywhere near me and i've never experienced this with my current pair (wirelss Logitech F540's) and i've had them over a year, even when i'm using my phone right beside them. Its recently also being happening to my housemate who lives accross the hall from me, we've both tried turning our phones off and asked for our housemates living below us to do the same, but the problem persists. Could there be some device that is causing the problem inside or outside of the house that i havn't thought of? And is there a method of fixing the headphones/speakers themselves. I'd like to get to the bottom of it! :D Cheers.
