It's not pretty when a designer mangles an image in Photoshop. Most of the image may look a little cleaner, but it's those little mistakes that distort reality that make you wonder if anyone else looked at it.This new blog, Photoshop Disasters chronicles a few of these mistakes from the overly eager airbrush to the accidental deleting of heads. I need a brush that has a basic shape, like a leaf: an oval with two points. I also need it to alternate between several shades of green. How hard would this be? I want it to alternate automatically. I'm using this to kind of do a "weeping willow" effect.

Hi! I have a really old version of Photoshop, it came with adobe creative suite 2... Anyway, I'm working on a project and I need to image black and white (grayscale, I guess) except for a single object in the picture. That will be in color. I have never used this program before and could use a few pointers on how to do this, being a total amateur. Thanks!

Hi gang! We're running this super fun challenge over at Betabrand, and I knew you guys would be into it. So I'm calling on all of your zany photoshop skillz to blow this thing up! And I mean, seriously, get wacky with this. Recently we did a Think Tank poll (that's the section I run, so I hope you all dig it) to see what color we should make the next disco hoodie. Canida in particular was a strong supporter of purple, as her twitter campaign for purple disco indicated, and indeed, purple won this round! So to celebrate, we're asking people to play around with some photos of the new purple disco hoodie. Photoshop any of these images of hoodies to participate, and email them to robbie@betabrand.com. Purple Disco Hoodies Gold Disco Hoodies Check out a few of these sites if you need inspiration: Kotaku (gets better as you scroll down, also provides links to other examples) Fark (so many. . . just. Just look.) Oh, and hey, did I mention that everyone who plays gets a 20% discount to Betabrand? And there were only 50 Purple Disco Hoodies created? So, you know, if you're into it, get going. Let's show these Betabrand folks how it's done!

HI, I'm currently working on removing the text from a picture I have. Because one of my previous usernames is in it and I don't use that account anymore. I also want to use it for other accounts. And because someone else made it for me, I d not have the resources to make another without the username. I've tried using most tools I thought might work, i used content aware fill, i used clone stamp, i even used the healing tool. All to no avail. I'm still not fully aware of every tool for photoshop, so There may be another way to do it. Thanks, all help is greatly appreciated. The image is below.

Hello all, Ive begun to crack into digital art in photoshop. This is mainly refering to painting and not manipulating photos. Im not having much trouble with lighting or coloring. My main issue is with Texture and detail. I can make shapes and lighting and coloring but that all means nothing if it doesnt have any texture. So any and all advice within these regards would be awesome. and i will be starting on grass and nature and im trying to make high quality photos so if you have any advice on ground texturizing (like grass or trees) you can also help me out there. -Thank you for taking time to read this, Liam

Edit: I have moved this from photography to Tech because you have to have a computer, which is tech, and Photoshop or Gimp (not tech, but software). If you think I've put this in the wrong catagory, please suggest the correct one in the comments. I would put this under a software tab if there were any. Would any one be interested if I made photoshop tutorials based on ideas given in the comments? Ex: Make a retro background for (insert college of choice). Ex: Make a B&W; poster for an upcoming event, grungy I would then (possibly, depending on feedback) make a tutorial of how I made your suggestion as well as post a high resolution finished product. I'm self taught in the art of photoshop so I am by no means a professional. I've added a few of my recent works just to give you an idea (I got the second idea from a tutorial...) Also, if you feel you have or know of a good photoshop/gimp instructable, feel free to suggest it and I may add a link to it in the main thread. CURRENT INSTRUCTABLE TUTORIALS -Photoshop 101: What You Need to Know! (goes over the basics of Photoshop, includes the use and description of many tools) -Photoshop Basics: A Building Banner (goes over the basics of photo manipulation and techniques, includes detailed instructions on how to use more complicated tools)

Everybody has seen the occasional Photoshop Art image. However, many of them rely on modifying the appearance of a photograph or image. Needless to say, this won't qualify me for something like a Community Graphic Arts class, which I am currently participating in. Without this assignment done, I run the risk of failing the class. This is very important to me, as Graphic Design combines my three loves, art, computers, and math. Tl;Dr: How can I create Photoshop art from scratch?

I am trying to do a bit of stylistic work on photos, and I am trying to get a cartoonish look to them. however, I need it to be smooth and bright with few heavy, black outlines. I know of a "paint" function on a video mixer I once used, but being that I have not the 10 grand to drop for such a piece of equipment, that option is out the window. a good example of what I am looking for is DVShades' LiveToon plugin for Final Cut Pro, and I was wondering if anyone knew of a 3rd party filter or a technique that would replicate this in either GIMP or PhotoShop. for pictures on what the effect looks like, visit http://www.dvshade.com/LTExamples.html

Even though these pictures appear in the photo catalog they have question marks in the corner and none of these pictures can be accessed, printed or copied etc., so technically have been lost. They cover a number of events, friends, family, years and trips taken. It is devastating. I think someone that has a good deal of Photoshop knowledge might know what I have done besides not learning how to properly use Adobe Photoshop Elements 6. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am also offering a single custom patch for the best Hallowe'en-themed photo-shopped version of the image. I might not be able to get online before the weekend. Don't be disheartened by a lack of response, just add more entries! Go for it, folks. Rules: Enter as many times as you like. One entry per top-thread post. Three patches as prizes for captions, maximum one patch per entrant. One patch as a prize for image manipulation. Judge's decision is arbitrarily final. WINNERS: Photoshop: Crapflinger. Hello, Can anyone help me please with this simple Illustrator CS3 question. I am OK with Photoshop but am just trying Illustrator which seems a bit tricky by comparison. I want to take a black and white jpg image and convert it to a vector image. From what I have gathered from numerous tutorials, I have to - Copy my image from PS and paste it into Illustrator: Then select the image. At this point the tutorials say that a LIvetrace button should appear along the top; it doesn't, but I can access Livetrace by going to object- Livetrace- options ( this only works when the object is not selected; if its selected everything is greyed out) Anyhoo, when I do get the dialogue box, the blue button that should say "trace" says "set default". I did manage to get this to work with one image but I don't know what was different. I realise how long winded that explanation was; if you have got this far do you have any advice ? Thank you.

When I first saw it, this sinkhole image looked photoshopped to me (original story here). It turned out to be legitimate, but air.command suggested adding a Silver Surfer to the image. I did (see below), and quite liked it. So, I have decided to open up another photo-editing contest. You can either... Add something to an image of a real sinkhole (or other hole in the ground) - what caused it? What's climbing out or falling in? Put a sinkhole somewhere interesting Do both - add a sinkhole to a scene, then put something else in the hole. Use any source images you like, but images that involve classic projects will be more likely to win the Silver Surfer patch I have just created. I will also put all entries together to make a slideshow as well. EDIT: This contest ends June 30th, midnight GMT

The message (to housewives) is "Which girl is your little girl?" Followed by the answer, which is the brand. There's a lot to see in there that divides the two characters into a back and white opposition. It's skewed two people to present the one who's mother does use (that) detergent as better. For the sake of balance, I decided to have fun by introducing some colour - white is a bit boring no matter how bright it is. L

Hey all, I've been lurking around here for the past few weeks and finally got a membership. Anyway, I had an idea I would like some help with: I'm looking to make a gag/stocking stuffer gift (relabeled product) for a friend. The idea is to take a can of spam and relabel it as unicorn meat (I saw this in a Think Geek catalogue). Dark, I know, but he would think it was really funny. The questions I have are: what kind of paper would work the best for this purpose? (photo paper is too thick to wrap around the can, generic printer paper is too thin and would fall apart, so what would be the "goldy-locks" paper?) Also, this part may be more complicated as I am a photoshop novice, but what would be the easiest way to design a Hormel Unicorn Meat label in Photoshop? Thanks!
