Pizza contest

Can I enter a pizza that I have had on Instructables for a while? When I try to enter it, it wants me to start a new one. I don't see a place to enter one I already have.

PIZZA THURSDAYS!

Hey Everybody! Today is the day I decide to share this gem with you. Here at Instructables HQ, we often have pizza on Thursdays. It was initiated by Randofo's deep desire to keep his office companions happy and fed, and has evolved into a reason for me to make the following artworks. Each image is mailed out to the entire office as soon as the pizza delivery person arrives. Pizza Thursdays also lives on tumblr. Made on Mad's last day as an Artist-in-Residence. SelkeyMoonBeam and AmandaGhassaei playing Psycho Scooter Scramble   I will continue to generate sweet pizza art, every Thursday that we have pizza (and maybe forever). I will keep adding the new .gifs to the comments of this blog. Stay tuned.

Upcoming Pizza Contest

That's right, Instructables is finally having a pizza contest.  But this is no ordinary, run-of-the-mill pizza contest, this contest is to benefit the Instructables Restaurant, and the winning entries will actually be served up during PICNIC in Amsterdam this September! We want your signature recipes for homemade crust, sauce, cheese and toppings.  Made your own wood-fired pizza oven?  Show us!  Discovered the perfect combination of ingredients?  Share!  Anything to do with pizza, we want to see it. Will there be great prizes in addition to fame and international recognition?  You know there will. So get ready, cause pizza party is 'bout to drop! Special thanks to target022 for taking my favorite picture of pizza so far that I can't resist using over and over!

homemade pizza with it's dough

Pizza dough ingredients: 1 1/2 cups warm water 2 tbsp. sugar 1 1/4 oz. packet of dry yeast 1 1/2 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. olive oil 4 cups white all purpose flour Instructions: Pour the warm water in a larger mixing bowl. Add the sugar & package of yeast. Stir the mixture slowly until yeast & sugar are dissolved. Let sit to allow the mixture to "mature" for about ten minures or so. the mixture will begin to react; clouding & forming a foamy "head" on the surface of the mixture. Add the salt & olive oil & stir again to combine & dissolve the ingredients. Add 1 cup of flour & whisk in until dissolved. Add the 2nd cup of flour & whisk it in. Add the 3rd cup of flour & combine. By now the dough mixture should be fairly thick. Add the last cup of flour & with your hands, beginto combine & knead the dough And now you have you pizza dough finished so you will be first putting on your pizza sauce & baking it at 400% in you oven for 10-12 minutes after the dough tures to be alittle thicker then take it out of the oven a put on cheese  & if you want to you may go ahead & put on any kind of toppings that you like then put it back int the oven for about 6-8 minutes or undil it turns alitte brown. Then you may take it out & eat after you cut it.

Fire pit to pizza oven conversion

When i bought my house there was an old brick fire pit in the back yard.  it is about 3 foot square and 2.5 feet tall with a brick column like chimney up the back, that  is also 2.5 feet tall.  I already have a nice bbq and am wondering it it would be possible or worth it to build the fire pit up into a pizza oven?  I have never laid brick before and the brick oven project i found when searching the site did not look to be made of brick.

Food culture is on the skids with this latest assault on your stomach. Buying one of these is basically saying that your body is not a temple but a broken down playground and that you hope that with a little bit more grease you can oil up the swingset for a couple more rides. Instructables Pizza Off 2008

I turned 25 this past week and celebrated my Birthday by organizing something that I've wanted to do for a long long time - a Pizza Off! A Pizza Off is an event where the participants order as many pizza pies as possible from as many different pizzerias as possible, bring them all to a central location at the same time, (Instructables HQ of course) and then eat them all and test which ones they like best! It's not something that you can do on your own, do to limitations of space, time and belly, so I was grateful when the entire Squid Labs community decided that this sounded like an awesome idea to them as well. The rules were simple (taken from the original email announcement):You must bring a pie with you. Think of it as a ticket for entry - if you plan on partaking, you've got to have a pie. We (as in the royal I) will allow sharing of one pie per two people. Ideally each person would bring their own pie, but I'm no tyrant.Your pizza must be from your favorite SF pizza joint. The pie you bring says something about who you are, so drive the extra mile to the place that's a little further, but twice as good. Each and every person in this building is beautiful, and your pizza should be too.You and your pie must arrive promptly at Instructables HQ at 1:00.You can bring whatever type of pizza you like, from whatever pizza joint you think is best. Ideally we'd all get plain cheese pies so we could truly compare, but if you've got to have something fancy on your pie, rock out. This event is all about two things: pizza and excess, so if you're thinking, oh I don't really need to bring a pie, it will be too much food...I'll just eat some pizza and stand around the table - you're wrong. This event only works if we hit critical pizza mass, so I'm counting on each and every one of you to help. When Tuesday rolled around, we ended up having 15 different pies from 13 different pizzerias! There were gourmet pizza pies from local worker owned bakery Arizmendi, traditional Italian cheese pies from North Beach, deep dish pies from San Francisco and East Bay favorite Zachary's, thin crust brick oven pies from Pizzeria Delfina and even Indian food pizza - which actually turned out to be an awesome flavor explosion!I almost made it "round the pizza world", but then some late entries showed up and the crusts caught up with me. There was a huge happy turnout, plenty of ravenous mouths, delicious pizza of all kinds and we all lived to tell the story of the first ever Pizza Off - all in all I'd call it a huge success! For anyone who doesn't already know, I love NY style pizza, and in my opinion, the best NY slices in San Francisco are from Arinell's on Valencia, so that's where I got my pie from. Everyone had their own favorites though, so I won't presume to report on any definitive results from the testing. I will say though that there's a pizza type for everyone, and I am never ceased to be amazed by the magic and wonder of Pizza. We're planning on having future Food Offs testing out other ubiquitous tasty foods. Some of the first things that I'd like to test are:Pad ThaiEgg RollsPhoBurgersIce CreamCoffeeRibsBurritosTacosAnyone else ever do anything like this? Find 15 friends who are as crazed about food as you are and make it happen!

Food groups

A day in the culinary life of this high school/college student generally includes at least three of the four food groups. In case you missed the FDA's new pyramid, these are Pizza, Crazy Bread, Chinese food, and Dr. Pepper. This is actually an improvement from the three years before that, which had only two food groups: ramen and not-ramen. The second is at the top of the pyramid--used sparingly. How about you? What kind of extended poor diet did you live on back in the day? or maybe even right now...

Fake instructables

So I have come across this one user. MegaPrincess3001 https://www.instructables.com/member/MegaPrincess3001/ He is posting fake instructables. I mean, these Instructables obviously are fake and are not helpful in any way. They are funny, but I do not feel they belong in this community. For example, one video is just of him and one of his friends eating baked goods and then pretending to poop out a "pizza". He passes this off as "making a pizza". Watch "how to make a pizza" to get what I mean.  I have attached  an uploaded image of him "cooking a pizza" to show you what I mean What is instructables policy on these videos? Are they considered spam, inappropriate? or will we just allow them to exist on this site? I have flagged both of his videos as inappropriate. If you agree with me, I suggest that you do so to. ~wowguy

Instructables Restaurant at PICNIC 2010

I was honored to be asked to open an Instructables Restaurant in Amsterdam as part of the 2010 PICNIC festival.  Faithfully following recipes submitted to our Pizza contest, chefs from Eetcafe De Zwijger served three different types of pizza in an intimate setting within the festival, next to the mobile Fablab.  Each day, the crew served around 50 pizzas split equally between Homemade Pizza Margherita, Rose Garden Pizza, and Flammkuchen - the other type of pizza. The Instructables Restaurant is a combination concept art piece and experimental business model.  What would an open-source restaurant look like?  Can an open-source menu allow patrons to form a deeper relationship with the chef and the food?  Would people show up just to learn how to do it themselves?  With funding from the Waag Society, the creators of the restaurant, Arne Hendricks and Bas van Abel, are trying to answer these questions.  With my permission, they chose to leverage the Instructables brand in their initial "pop-up" restaurants, which have included a Cheesecake cart, DIY BBQ, and a soup night in addition to the Pizza restaurant -- all described on their Instructables Restaurant Blog. The space created for the restaurant at Picnic was great, and probably better than any live event I've ever organized for Instructables.  Two things that worked really well deserve to be specifically pointed out:  handing out comment sheets with each slice of pizza, and tear-away handouts with the recipes and instructions for furniture and decorations.  In one of the images below, you can see a collection of comments about the pizza submitted by tasters.  The handouts had links to the website and short forms of the step-by-step instructions emphasizing that anyone could make the pizza, furniture, or lighting themselves.  (The pads of handouts were especially appealing to me, because literally the next day at NYC Maker Faire, the wind was threatening to blow our business-card-format project cards all over.)  Scanned versions of the handouts are included in the slideshow below: See this slideshow here:  Instructables Restaurant Handouts Arne calls the Instructables Restaurant a "question."  If the answer to his question is yes there is something to an open-source restaurant, he has a spot in mind for a fixed-location version.  I can't wait to eat there. A brief aside: I'm a few inches above average height in the US, but in Holland, I'm short! The Dutch are enormous, as you can see in the group image with the five of us at the restaurant. Looking up to meet people's eyes was an interesting and fun change. More images of the Instructables Restaurant here on Flickr.

What mysterious force holds the plastic pizza signage to the top of this moving car? Answered

The attached photo was taken recently at an undisclosed location, somewhere in the Former United States (FUS). In it you can see a plastic sign-thingy on top of a moving car. My question is this: What mysterious forces keep the plastic sign-thingy from sliding off the car due to the effects of wind and inertial pseudoforces. What holds the sign to the top of the car? Is it powerful magnets? Double-sided sticky tape? Is it perhaps... love? Has anyone seen one of these artifacts up close, and/or knows for sure what the physical mechanism is?
