Cardboard Playhouses

Greetings all, I'm wondering if any of the members ever work in cardboard for children's toys or playhouses ? I'm finishing a belated Xmas gift for my niece, a six sided cardboard tee pee that breaks down into 12 easily stowed sections and fastens with releasable zip-ties. All the material aside from adhesives and said fasteners were recycled from local appliance and furniture retailers so it's a very green eco-friendly item. Should there be any interest I will post the plans and material list at a later time.

Can I convert an old window into a working door for a child's playhouse made from a water tank, or use something else?

I'm building a playhouse from a cube shaped 275 gallon water tank and need to figure out how to build a working door for a small child. The tank will form the basic structure as it is going to be partially buried on one side, like a "hobbit hole" and I figured the tank would be water-proof. I'm still working out the details, and figure the door needs to be at least big enough I can reach in to remove the child easily. (The tank will be ventilated through the filling cap on the top and a dryer vent on an exposed side wall.) I plan to cut a hole in the side of the tank once I figure out how to make the door. I know this is a strange project, but it should be a lot of fun for my little hobbit this summer, and I appreciate any help I can get! Thanks!

Where can I purchase shutters for an indoor playhouse?

When we finished our basement, we created a little, enclosed area under the eaves of the stairs with a small window and doorway. Would like to add a window box and decorative, little shutters. Thanks.

Make waterproof roof for playhouse that can be climbed on - eco friendly/reused materials preferrable.?

Making a "green" playhouse.  Want to have the roof be able to be climbed on, but water proof since I live in a very rainy part of Washington State.   Any suggestions?  Regular roofing is very $$, not sure if people recycle their old roofing or if that is even a good option.  Would love some tips!! Thank you!! - College student in very last finals week ever.

Does this site have a place where we can request a pattern, advice, hints, etc? Answered

Specifically, I'd like to build a child's bed that is a combination bed/playhouse with some storage and room to play (obviously-it's a playhouse). I 've searched topics but would like to formally request it. Thanks!?

Is there any "Trial" Pro Membership codes?

Hello,  I just stumbled across this site when I was looking for a DIY project off Pinterest and I was wondering if there are any trial offers? There is a PDF I'd like to download for a pallet playhouse for my daughter for this spring and it's so adorable! I wouldn't even mind to pay for one month if that were possible?! I'm just not sure if I would use this site a lot yet to pay for 1-2 years worth. But if I can do a trial it may persuade me otherwise! I would very much appreciate anyone's help this is for my first baby girl who is almost two now and I'm ready to make her spring and summer so much fun but on a budget with this cute pallet play house Thanks!!!!

TWO WAY WIRED ROOM TO ROOM TELEPHONE SYSTEM (PLEASE HELP)

Right, Firstly im not sure if this is in the right part of this forum. Basically i want to make (or buy) a two way wired phone system and other end needs to ring upon picking up my end. I've searched here and online for something which will do this and i rememebr having a set of these when i were a kid. Now i have kids of my own i have built a wooden playhouse at the bottom of garden and would like to be able to ring from there to the house with only a pick up of the other end or something equally similar. IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE! If anyone can post me details of how to make this or a website from which i can buy it from would be great been searching for weeks. Thanks

Not sure if there is an intro forum so I posted here

I posted this in the pro section as well under the "welcome" forum, not really sure where it belongs. . . Hey guys, I just wanted to introduce myself to the community here, and shoot some ideas off of you.  I have been a lurker going on a year now for instructables, and I decided to join when my friend submitted a project.  He did the www.instructables.com/id/Pallet-Playhouse/ Pallet Playhouse where he built a playhouse out of used pallet wood.  If you haven't seen if, I would suggest a quick look he did a good job on it! For me, I think I have decided on what I want to do, and I wanted some suggestions from you guys in terms of what I could do for my project.  I want to build a system to connect ski boots to skis and recharge the heaters on the boots via solar power on your skis.  Now, I am not sure of the surface area of solar cells that I would need, the power the boots usually run off of, if it is better to just buy an existing system, or if I should put in some kapton heaters and a control system, and do the board design myself.  I have seen even etching for board designs here, so I could theoretically do this very cheap in terms of monetary cost if I wanted to go that route.  What I am looking for is going through a good cost breakdown analysis, what my budget in time and money is, and what is doable.  I am pretty handy, and will mess with anything I can get my hands on, and I have a fairly high learning IQ so I would be able to replicate most of the instructables here just to give you an idea at what I could do. So here is what my ideas are initially.  Taking an existing boot and battery system, disconnecting the existing battery pack, putting on my own battery system, and using the solar power to top off/charge the batteries. . .or using the solar power to power the batteries.  I still need to see what the power requirement is for existing boots, and what the maximum power output per ski would be if I had solar cells on the ski, what to do with the excess power, if there is any, how to handle the overflow power, waterproofing the system etc, but I think it is doable.  I am unemployed, and I have a business that I am planning, but I am awaiting loan approval from the bank, so I have a few weeks of free time soon.  I was thinking of some cool projects to do, came to the sight and thought of my own.  I figured this would be a great project to learn some stuff about ee, since I am a me by trade.  Anyhow, I love the site, wanted to introduce myself, and if you have any ideas of suggestions, please let me know. Cheers, Michael
