Plushie Pattern Help?

I'm trying to sew a beaver. However, I can't figure out how to create the patterns to make the body. He's a cartoonm beaver, and the body looks kind of like a.. potato. Any tips on how to create that shape with fleece? Here's a picture of him: http://www.autostraddle.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/4.png Thank you so much for your help!

Instructables Robot Plushie Preview v2.0!!!

So here he is! He's naked and without his upgrades, but you get the general idea! He's going to have little yarn wrapped washer wheels, a face, buttons, and later models will probably have arms closer to the body as well as shorter legs, I think. Oh, and some cardboard put in the butt because right now he has some serious junk. ;) And for all the boys - terribly sorry about how cutesy he came out. That's just how it works. Someone could tell me to make a werewolf plushie and it would be adorable in the end. I don't know that you can make macho plushies. I can't, at least. :P And sorry about the color difference in the pictures. Bad lighting and a loooong day, haha. Oh, and the stitching is a little bumpy on this butt and in other areas since he's just the prototype and all. I was doing a quick running stitch and slipstitch. :P So.... comments? Questions? Suggestions? Dancing? Indifference? Criticism? BRING IT ON! :D

Plushie Instructable Robot - Preview 1.0!!

Here's how far I've gotten with the Robot that I'm making. Patterns are hard, ya'll! You'll see the arm graveyard in the pictures. (Including the one that turned out like a condom - no idea about that one. Very weird.) I went through a lot of different bodies, too, but those aren't nearly as annoying. The last stumbling block is the head - after that it will be smooth sailing! I'm working on that right now. Keep in mind that I'm making these pieces out of felt - it's cheaper for practicing. The actual plushie will be made out of fleece. Yay! And the body will be less angular, too. The shoulders should be more rounded. The ends of the legs and arms will be sewn into the body seams. :D And now... the gallery. Complete with evil kitties that are trying to stall the construction.

Plushie: CAD program for Stuffed toys and Inflatables

This is an awesome tool for designing teddy bears, stuffed animals, and big inflatable items with complicated shapes. It's called Plushie, and it looks incredibly easy to use. It's kind of like Sketchup, but for blobs of stuff. You just start drawing in 2D, and it makes smart guesses at the volume that you're trying to create. Once you're done, it generates the pattern for you that you need to cut out. Here's their cool video: It's a Java-based Windows app. Someone should definitely make something with this!(I found this via the We Make Money not Art.)

Where can I get bulk synthetic hair?

I want to make a plushie My Little Pony and I'm going to need a good amount of hair to do it. The only thing I've found so far is buying hair extensions, which would get very expensive very quickly, and most places don't have the colors I need. I want the colors to match the Friendship is Magical cartoon as closely as possible. The first one I do will be Fluttershy, so I'm looking for a light pink. I would prefer to spend less than $20 on the hair since I still have to get all the other materials as well. Is that possible?

LED Blinking?

Excuse me Please: I would like to ask for some assistance in creating a circuit/project that will be for a plushy whose eyes would "blink" with on/off and/or/both the more creepy "blink" by dimming (down to 25% lit, back to 100%) of two LEDs I would guess a slightly more advance aspect of this project would be to put some randomness into the blinking. and the thought occurs to me that through the use of an ardrino, which I have zero experience with personally, would allow for the blinking, as well as sound reproduction too. {e.g. growls from the glowy-eyed wolf plushy} while I am trying to keep the plushy to a limited amount of complexity, and would like as simple a circuit to accomplish the blinking, the ardrino idea and the advanced features that could be given to the plushy I find very provocative,... but it is my ignorance which is not realizing what it is I am asking, so I would rely upon the collective experience here-in. Thank you kindly for the input and assistance. CAH

How can I make a downloadable pattern for an instructable from a piece of paper? Answered

I made a plushie out of nowhere and used a sheet of paper to make a pattern. Now that the plushie is done, I want to make an instructable out of it but I wonder how I can make my paper pattern into a downloadable image or pdf for others to use. I have a scanner but I usually get a bigger image than what I have scanned.

Official instructable robot plans ?

Hi, I've seen severall nice projects for creating Instructable Robot oriented things (paper robot, plushie, drawing, ...). BTW, every one seems to have hes own interpretation of the robot. Would'nt it possible to create 2 cad drawings (one with all details, an one simpler with, eg, torso boutton just included in the texture and not modeled in 3D), in a open (participativ) way ? Discussion is open. (please, also include discussion about copyright/licensing issues, ...)

I'll be at Instructables HQ in less than a week. :D

The countdown begins! It snuck (or sneaked, if you prefer) up on me. :P And now the race is on to finish the plushie so that we can travel across the country together. I'm going to need a travel companion. The trips there and back will be pretty long. And I need to figure out how much sewing stuff I can bring with me without sacrificing room for clothes, hahaha. 6 days!! (5 more days of work, even less! YES!)

Do you make other people's projects?

A question from Plasmana set me wondering - Do you follow other peoples' Instructables?Personally, the answer is mainly "no" (sorry Plasmana).I keep meaning to, I just never seem to have time to...I want to make a Kelvin's Thunderstorm, a VdG, Plasmana's shocker, a coilgun, a tiny robot, a plushie. I did make a vacuum cannon, but before I saw this site. What have you made from other peoples' projects? What do you plan to make?

What are some good sewing Instructables? Answered

I used to sew quite a bit... 20 years ago.   Now I once again have a sewing machine (!!!) and I'm looking for a few good projects to get me back in the saddle. (Or on the treadle.)  Smaller, but not too basic projects would be best.  I'm not exactly a beginner, but I know I've forgotten a whole lot. Difficulty:  I'm a guy.  So anything with phrases like "...into a dress" or "adding ruffles to..." or anything else exclusively feminine is not going to pique my interest, though I can probably be persuaded to make a squid hat or an unusual plushie.

Building a TARDIS... Doctor Who.

My friend George and I suddenly decided yesterday that we'd really love to build a TARDIS.Considering this thing is 8+ feet tall, and we'd like it to be portable... does anyone have any suggestions for materials? I think more than anything I just need to go to Home Depot and look for supplies. Any brainstorming help will be appreciated. :DOh, and if you don't know what a TARDIS is... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TARDISOr, see below. The TARDIS pictured with the ever lovely David Tennant. :DP.S. I'm not starting on this until the Robot Plushie instructables is up, which will be by Saturday night, if not sooner. :)

I'm poor, have no special tools or skills, but I love steampunk. Anything cool I can make without denting my wallet? :/

I have loved steampunk style for a while now, as well as costume design (since I am an anime fan too), but I've only recently decided to jump in on all the fun. However, despite my age and interest, I have no skills in design, save for plushies I make for spare change, and I have no special tools or equipment. On top of that, I'm seriously pretty damn poor--as in I pay no tuition at college at ALL, because they pity me that damn much...So, is there anything out there I can make that won't leave my family starving on the street, requires no special tools or equipment, little experience, but still looks completely amazing? The only thing I've seen like this before are Greensteam's goggles... :/

"Next" button for comments is now the "Same" button

I was looking at an Instructable with a lot of comments on it, and wanted to see comments 51-100. Clicking the "Next" button in the comments section reloaded the page with comments 1-50 displayed again. Thinking that it might be just the one Instructable that had the problem, I checked several others, and all of them did the same thing. Here are some of the pages I checked: https://www.instructables.com/id/The-SteamRoller/ https://www.instructables.com/id/Build-Halo-Armor/ https://www.instructables.com/id/Make-your-own-Instructables-Robot-Plushie/ I am using IE8 / WinXP at the moment. I'll check my other browsers & operating systems as soon as I am able. UPDATE: On the Win7 machine, FF 3.6.3 pages correctly, but IE8 does the same as on the XP machine. UPDATE 2: I checked this from the public internet kiosk at my local Burger King, and the same paging issue occurred. No version info was available, but it looked like WinXP/IE7 to me. There were numerous other display errors & problems with the browser crashing when I tried to update this topic or post a reply, so the validity of the test may be questionable due to local issues in BK's network.
