Laptop Privacy Hood

Any ideas for a simple but sturdy hood to shield the sunlight from a laptop screen? This one looks perfect. But these look more simple to make from cardboard.Requirements are that the hood would fit securely, not damage the laptop case or screen and fold flat in the laptop bag for storage and transport.

Thanks for the great ideas for my balcony...

...all the original and temporary ideas for this rental!Other than the somewhat insecure people who felt the need to use this forum to insult me, all others were fantastic with their ideas (which, as I believed, is the purpose of this site!)? I'm going to get some hanging plants that I can take with me when I eventually leave...and I'll look at a used furniture store for some ideas for original screens and such. Thanks y'all!

TSA Security and why George Orwell is the New Nostradamas

This is basically ripped from Digg, but I'd much rather open discussion here rather than over on Digg as Digg isn't a discussion, just a horde of comments...Travelers at Sea-Tac and dozens of other major airports across America are being scrutinized by teams of TSA behavior-detection officers specially trained to discern the subtlest suspicious behaviors...Such people are referred for secondary screening, which can include a pat-down search and an X-ray exam. The microfacial expressions, he said, are the same across many cultures. ...a central task is to recognize microfacial expressions....ArticlePerhaps you've read Orwell's 1984 - if you haven't, do so.He did not know how long she had been looking at him, but perhaps for as much as five minutes, and it was possible that his features had not been perfectly under control. It was terribly dangerous to let your thoughts wander when you were in any public place or within range of a telescreen. The smallest thing could give you away. A nervous tic, an unconscious look of anxiety, a habit of muttering to yourself—anything that carried with it the suggestion of abnormality, of having something to hide. In any case, to wear an improper expression on your face (to look incredulous when a victory was announced, for example) was itself a punishable offence. There was even a word for it in Newspeak: facecrime, it was called.Digg Linked HereAgain a link to the Surveillance map - in which we (US) have joined the UK, Russia and China as an Endemic Surveillance society...LinkHow do you feel about your privacy?I say this as I personally have almost nothing but contempt for the TSA.... I say that as someone that almost always gets extra screening - so much that almost all of my flight tickets of the "SSSS" designation (indicating you get special screening without anyone picking you out).

A Perplexing Plurality of Privacy Policies

Near the bottom of many of the pages found on Instructables.com, there is a section labeled "About Us", and underneath that heading there is a list of various links,  titled: "About","Advertise","Press","Contact","Jobs","Legal","Help", and "Privacy Policy" The problem is this:  The link titled "Privacy Policy", does not always link to the same URL. On some pages it links here: https://www.instructables.com/about/privacy.jsp However on other pages it links here: http://usa.autodesk.com/privacy/ One of those pages is the simple, honest PP that Instructables has had for as long as I can remember, going back to the distant bygone era of at least 2008, by my recollection at least. The other page is, what I am guessing is, the privacy policy "inherited" from Autodesk, back in 2011, which was a long time ago, but not that long ago. In contrast to the old Instructables PP, the newer Autodesk PP seems to me to be a little bit more labyrinthine.  You know:  you follow a link, then you follow another link... http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id;=14175119 http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id;=14175119#9 http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id;=13252943 and that leads to an op-out form, which contains the plural question: "Would you like to receive information from Autodesk, our affiliates, or partners including information about new products and special promotions? Via Email?Via Phone? Via Postal Mail?" And there are three little [Yes][No] radio buttons for those. For some reason, maybe it's just the voices in my head,  I don't even want to know what happens to anyone who submits that form. I mean its probably mostly harmless.  Probably.   But, still, I don't want to touch it. Anyway... my point here is that even though no one ever actually reads the privacy polices, it would be nice if all the links that say "Privacy Policy" on Instructables point to the same page.  I think it  would look more consistent and sane that way. Moreover, it would be extra special nice, if the PP page all Instructables pages link to is the nice, simple one, on the Instructables domain, here: https://www.instructables.com/about/privacy.jsp And maybe everyone here could just ignore that other PP on the Autodesk domain. I mean, that's my suggestion for solving the consistency problem. In fact there exists a clause in the Instructables PP under "Business Transfers", and the language in that sort of infers  the Autodesk PP may be in effect.  That is, assuming everyone knows about Instructables being owned by Autodesk. What I'm saying it that you could just leave it up the members who read the Instructables PP, to conclude that the AutoDesk PP may be in effect,  that might be good enough, and interested persons could look into that can of worms, on Autodesk's domain, on their own if they want to. In conclusion:  Just change all the links titled "Privacy Policy" to point to: https://www.instructables.com/about/privacy.jsp and call that good.  Because the alternative, links to plural PPs across different domains, is confusing, and kinda looks inconsistent and bad.

Mobile Privacy Invasion (UK)

The Manchester Police force in England, has deployed two Smart cars, each equipped with a 12" pole, with a CCTV camera topping it off.Anyone seen driving while distracted - eating at the wheel, playing with the radio or applying make-up for instance - is filmed by the cameras.Later, a letter is sent to the owner of the car, in many cases along with a fine. Anyone caught using their mobile will be asked to pay £60 and have three points added to their licence. Fines could also be handed out to anyone who is thought to be driving without due care and attention, or similar offences.LINKBig Brother isn't just watching, he's following.

Google boss concerned about privacy??

One coolest pieces of technology in the hands of independent Makers is the UAV; students and hobbyists can exceed military spec for drones and quadrocopters for a fraction of the cost.  So it concerns me when Eric Schmidt, head of the company that put millions of people's homes online without asking, and has been fined in several countries for harvesting personal data via wifi, trys to influence American policy makers, invoking the demon called Terrorists Might, so that the use of UAVs is restricted on thd grounds of "protecting privacy". UK Government Wants to Build a Database of Every Phone Call and Email

This just crossed my News ticker this morning: 10:20 AM on Tue May 20 2008By Adam Frucci The plans for the new database are currently being drafted up and may be proposed for inclusion in the draft Communications Bill later this year. While many of the types of politicians you'd expect are behind it, a number of others are, thankfully, vehemently against it. They're against it not because of the basic violation of citizens' privacy that would come from such an action, however. Instead, they point to the UK government's lousy track record with data security as a security threat great than whatever threats they'd be stopping by being able to look up those emails of you flirting with the girl you met at the office Christmas party. It's another really strong argument against giving governments overreaching powers to spy on their citizens.Hopefully, the people of England will get properly angry and vocal against this plan, keeping it from ever becoming a reality. The next step, after all, will be the thought police, and at that point it's really too late. {BBC via Boing Boing }Big Brother IS watching, everywhere......"If you wanted a sure sign that the Orwell-ization of Great Britain is underway, then look no further than this. Lollipop ladies, those kindly old women who man the main roads next to school, similar to the US crossing guard, have been issued with video cameras to record lollipop rage as school-side road rage is known. The cameras, which record traffic coming from both the front and the back, mounted on the lollipop lady's cap, and attached to an Archos portable DVR, have been developed by a British firm, Routesafe. Several local authorities have invested in the technology to counter the increasingly aggressive behavior on British roads."CCTV cameras everywhere

How to make privacy tent/curtain for twin sized bed?

I'm on the Disney College Program and I have 5 flatmates and I'm sharing a room with 2 other girls. I need some privacy. The girl who got the bottom bunk was able to put up blankets around to make her own little place and the girl on the top bunk is pretty hidden away. My bed is the twin sized bed next to the window in the corner. The bed is in the corner with the head of the bed against one wall and the left side against the other wall. I can usually figure out a lot of DIY's but this one is tricky. I can't put any holes in the walls. At. All. So no screws, nothing that is going to leave permanent marks or mess up the paint. I looked in to those prop up bed tent tings but the ones geared for dorm rooms are $120. Nope. Not happening. I even thought about getting one of the pop up bed tents for kids. I don't care about the design so long as there was a way I could have some privacy. I get mixed reviews on whether someone of about 5'2" could sleep in one. I was thinking I could put the huge command hooks (already looked into it, these are approved by housing) in sideways on the two walls, add some type of dowel/rod to the bottom right of the bed. From there I could put some type of cord, or dowel, in between and hand hang some type of dark fabric from it. Thoughts????

HOW CAN I MAKE A TYPE OF PRIVACY WINDOWS(INSTANT TINT AT A FLIP OF SWITCH FOR WHEN PRIVACY NEEDED ANYWHERE/ANYTIME)? Answered

WHAT I AM TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH HERE IS A SAFE, HOPEFULLY INEXPENSIVE, RELIABLE, REASONABLE, AND VERY EFFECTIVE KIND OF INSTANT WITH VARIABLE OR ADJUSTABLE KIND OF TINT OR PRIVACY FEATURE TO WINDOW(s) IN PERCENTAGE AS TO HOW MUCH VISIBILITY IS ALLOWED THRU A WINDOW(s) FROM BOTH IN & OUT.CONCEPT IDEA: WHAT I WAS THINKING OF IS A FEATURE WE CAN ADD I GUESS SIMILAR TO TINT FILM THAT IS INSTANTLY, AT A FLIP OF SWITCH FOR WHEN PRIVACY NEEDED ANYWHERE AT ANYTIME ALSO ALLOWING VARIABLE "PRIVACY" TYPE OF SWITCH(SO A MAIN ON/OFF POWER SWITCH, AN INSTANT "ON" 100% DARKEN SWITCH, AND THE VARIABLE TYPE OF "DIMMER" AS TO IF WE NEED A VISIBILITY RATIO GIVING 0%-100%) - FIRST OF ALL WE NEED TO ACHIEVE AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE 100% VISIBILITY TO SEE THRU THIS GIVEN WINDSHIELD(s) BOTH WAYS FROM INSIDE AND OUTSIDE BUT IF I NEEDED OR WANTED INSTANT PRIVACY, I CAN FLIP A SWITCH AND/OR ADJUST (MAYBE A TYPE OF ROTORY DIMMER LIKE SWITCH)THE AMOUNT OF VISIBILITY THAT WILL CHANGE HOW MUCH CAN BE SEEN BOTH IN AND OUT.OK SO FOR BETTER UNDERSTANDING.... WHAT I WANT TO FIND/CREATE IS BASICALLY A KIND OF TINT FOR MY CAR (AND EVEN MY HOME OR OFFICE.) I GUESS MY FOCUS IS IN THE AUTOMOTIVE AREA BEING THAT WHERE I LIVE, WE HAVE ENFORCED LEGAL RESTRICTIONS BY LAW AS TO HOW MUCH LIGHT CAN BE PASS THRU THE TINT FILM AND WINDSHIELD OF A VEHICLE. HERE IN HAWAII A PASSENGER CAR HAVING MINIMAL OF 6 WINDOWS 1. FRONT WINDSHIELD2. REAR WINDSHIELD3. FRONT DRIVER DOOR WINDOW4. PASSENGER FRONT DOOR WINDOW5 & 6. PASSENGER REARS OR 1/4 WINDOWS BY LAW A FILM ADDED TO THE WINDOW CAN ONLY BE 35% DARKNESS TO THE SIDES AND REAR OF THE PASSENGER 2/3/4 DOOR VEHICLE AND ALLOWABLE 4 INCH VISOR TO THE VERY FRONT WINDSHIELD = CONSIDERED FOLLOWING THE LAW. OF COURSE PEOPLE DO GO DARKER AS IN UP TO 2.5% OR MORE COMMON IS THE 5%-20% ALL AROUND WHICH IS PRETTY DARK AND I CAN SEE WHY WE HAVE SUCH LAWS AS ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT BEING INSIDE A VEHICLE WITH 2.5%-20% ALL AROUND CAN & WILL GET DIFFICULT TO DRIVE ACCURATELY. ESPECIALLY PERTAINING TO REVERSING! LAWS IS SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT FOR 5-DOOR PASSENGER CARS, STATION WAGONS, VANS, SUV's, LIMO's AND TRUCKS. BUT WE WILL JUST STICK WITH THE MAIN 35% TO REAR AND SIDES. ITS EASIER....IN CONCLUSION, IF I OR WE CAN CREATE A TYPE OF METHOD OR DEVICE THAT CAN GIVE US THIS EFFECT OF PRIVACY AT OUR LUXURY. THE ADVANTAGES I'M AIMING FOR IS IT IS 100% LEGAL AS IN NO ONE CAN TELL RIGHT OFF THAT I HAVE TINT IT LOOKS VERY NORMAL TILL YOU HOP IN AND I TURN IT ON OR ADJUST IT THEN BEING EITHER INSIDE OR OUTSIDE THE VISIBILITY RATE CAN BE NOTICED, IT CAN BE ADJUSTED DURING MY DRIVE RUNNING ERRANDS OR IF I END UP SITTING IN TRAFFIC UNDER DIRECT HOT & BRIGHT SUNLIGHT OR EVEN JUST PARKED AT A OPEN PUBLIC PARK, BEACH, WHATEVER... I CAN GO FROM 0%-100% INSTANTLY BY A FLIP A MAIN SWITCH, THEN BE ADJUSTED LIKE A HOUSEHOLD DIMMER KNOB ALLOWING FOR PERFECT PRIVACY OR SAFETY TO VISIBILITY DRIVING WHILE TRYING TO BLOCK OUT SUNLIGHT OR UNWANTED NOSEY PEOPLE PEEKING IN WHILE PARKED. HEY IF WE WANT TO GET MORE INTO IT AND COMPLICATED YET MORE TO LUXURY WE CAN ADJUST EACH WINDOW SEPERATELY! Ex.: I WANT/NEED THE FRONT WINDOW I SAY AROUND 60% & 5 OTHER WINDOWS MAYBE 15% BECAUSE I AM SITTING IN SLOW TRAFFIC DURING THE PEAK OF THE DIRECT SUNLIGHT AT SUN DOWN AS I'M SURE ANYONE WHO DRIVES OFTEN EXPERIENCED THAT IT CAN BE VERY BLINDING AND DANGEROUS AS YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO SEE THE RED TRAFFIC LIGHT OR PEDESTRIAN, ETC... THEN I GUESS AS WE TRAFFIC START MOVING AND THE SUN IS NOW GONE IT IS DARK NIGHT, I CAN SAFELY ADJUST THE VISIBILITY TO ANY OR ALL WINDOWS...SEE COMPARED TO A ONE TIME DEAL AFTER HAVING A CERTAIN PERCENT TINT INSTALLED ON YOUR WINDOWS WHERE NO MATTER WHAT IT IS ALWAYS THE SAME, BUT WORSENS AS WINDOWS GET DIRTY IT GETS LESS VISIBLE TILL YOU GET CHANCE WASH THE WINDOWS OR PEEL/STRIP YOUR TINT WHICH WILL BE COSTLY & OFTEN MESSY. IN HAWAII IT IS FINED $250+COURT FEES+TAX, ETC. PER EACH WINDOW!!! MEANING IF YOU GOT LESS THAN 35% PERCENT LIGHT RATING ON THE MEASURE TOOL USED ON 5 OUT OF YOUR 6 WINDOWS = DAAYUUMNNN EXPENSIVE $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ LOSS. AND IF YOU ARE CAUGHT HAVING EVEN MORE THEN THE 4INCH VISOR AND/OR THE WHOLE FRONT WINDSHIELD ITS FEDERAL OFFENSE AND ITS NOT GOOD... I DON'T EVEN KNOW OR WANNA FIND OUT EITHER.I HOPE I WAS AS BEST AS POSSIBLE CLEAR TO WHAT I WANT TO ACHIEVE. SORRY IF IT KIND OF LONG BUT DETAILS IS VERY IMPORTANT, AND I AM OPEN MINDED TO WHATEVER ANYONE CAN PUT ON THE TABLE IN IDEAS OR CONCEPTS TO THIS. NO WORRIES, JUST SHARE WHAT YOU THINK OR WHAT CAN BE DONE. PRETTY AWESOME IDEA RIGHT???? I HOPE TO GAIN SEVERAL IDEA CONCEPTS, DESIGN OR WHATEVER THEN MAYBE WE CAN FIGURE THE MOST EFFICIENT WELL ROUNDED BENEFICIAL TO PRODUCE. ** THANX FOR YOUR TIME

D3CRYPT3D won SXSW Interactive Innovation Award for Privacy & Security

Hey everyone! For a long time, being a modeler and working in the industry, I have always felt that Modelers get the short end of the stick.  Things get re textured, models get hijacked and studios just kind of store models and stock pile them up. Some people will even resell models that don't belong to them. I used to see it all the time. Well, my crew and I came out with a software that enables you to share and collaborate on your 3D files securely. We won the SXSW Innovation Award for Privacy & Security last month and just released our beta this week.  We would love for you all to try it out and give us your feedback so that we can make the best product possible.  If you are interested, here is the link to download -   www.d3crypt3d.net/downloadnow/ Thank you!

Facebook - some things to consider before making full use of it....

As "A last Hurray" so to say I will do it one last time....What am I doing exactly you wonder and why do I bother writing it here?I will write a little story that is spiked with some information that I deem to be worthy to share. And I do bother to show my friends, followers and those who care what might have been a weekly or even daily thing otherwise :)At work recent changes and ongoing problems with our IT systems required that those who need contact with those in charge or above to sign up with Facebook.I tried what I could but Emails appearently don't always show if someone actually ready them and it was down to keeping my job or refusing Facebook. And yes, I tried to raise my concerns about privacy and control of it through the company...Anyway, let us start, shall we?Signing up for Facebook is as easy as asking Google for the name and to follow the obvious links. But those who know me can confirm that I take privacy seriously and that I like to question why someone thinks they need certain information.Which brings me to the point....Anyone these days is on Facebook with one or more accounts - this includes your boss, manager or anyone interested in your name, resume or other background info.Facebook provides just that, the chat and messages are as obsolete as anything else in terms of actually giving you privacy of any kind. When I signed up and was dumb enough to use a well known Email provider for my account details, I was shocked by the following offer.I was asked for my Email password to make signing in and finding friends easier!A quick but endlessly long search through the terms and conditions confirmed that indeed everyone in my contact list would be mis-used for data collecting and referencing - including the content of my Emails.Of course I had to reject this great function several times until Facebook got the massage that I like to keep control over my Email account.Thinking this was already enough for the day I rejected images and other private info, like where I was born, where I worked and such before signing off.Next day I suddenly had a list of friends as long as the shopping list of a childcare centre for thanks giving. At first I though I don't know any of them until I started to do what Facebook wants and looked the people up.Most where contacts I had on long dead messengers like the Yahoo! messenger. You can understand my confusion until I realised I had used the same Emal account for those messengers.Facebook simply reference their records of dead systems with my Email address and was happy to provide friends I really tried to avoid....The hardest hit however was when I realised that even contact backups I did from my mobile, using Google services, appeared.Thankfully most as possible friends but some directly added to my friends list, due to other links they found in their databases.Needless to say that even several of my skype contacts showed up...The last thing that confirmed why I avoided Facebook was the simple fact that all privacy options in the profile are set by default to public!Of course, if you don't mind stripping down your privacy to the entire world while Facebook is using the data for not always legal purposes you shall be fine. But if you only care a little then check the following, hopefully before stripping down:1. Never, ever type your Email password into anything coming from Facebook - no matter what reasons they claim!2. Before you complete your profile with address, phone number or similar, type in nonsense so you can get access to your account settings. After all Facebook does not bother to offer you privacy before you finnish your details and keeps nagging about adding more so they get the vital data they need first....3. Check all account settings in regards who has access!Unless you really want to strip down noone but your friends should have any access to anything. And even for that you should make sure to enable the function to review them before you allow them to show up on your page, history or elsewhere.Things to always keep in mind:1. Your account is not yours as Facebook has all rights to it, you can not even request to have your informations deleted from their databases or remove your account for good.2. Anything your friends see on your page or profile they can share, like or comment on.This means that even if don't like it, it can spread through the community within seconds and as a worst case ruin your life.3. Anything Facebook does or offers, like games, recommendations, things you should know about, have only one goal: To gather more information about you.Like for example using your Google cookies to find out what search for on the web or watch on Youtube....4. Things you like attract more things you might like, again mostly to gather more info about you, your personality, preferences and your friends.Ok, I know! You are using FB for years, have tons of friends there and keep updated about every minute of their life they share...So there is little to no chance to see what I am talking about LOLBut I would not post all this openly without a backup plan ;)If you really dare to challenge me on this then you might have to waste several hours of your precious time, but I think it is worth your time! This is how the game is played:1. Find someone older who does have a vital Email life of sorts but so far no use for Facebook.2. Ask kindly for his support on a test with Facebook that might require him to forawrd correspnding Emails to your account.3. Clearly state that neither his email or FB account will be used to post anything, add friends manually or give out any info the person does not feel confortable to share.4. Point out the possible benefits of having FB with the option to use the persons real name so he can continue using FB after the test if considered a good thing to have.5. If you manage the above successfully then only use the provided name, email and residential address to create a new account.6. Observe and wonder about the things to come.....You will notice that usually quite soon possible friends or persons that could be connected show up.Also that FB will continue to ask about the history, like schools, work, places. If you do an online search on the name often takes less than a week to get a hit refering to FB.The more info about the person you offer FB (with consent!!) the more people will show up to be considered. At this stage and I guess in less than two weeks time after creating the account comes the question about how to continue.Show the person what and who is already present in the created account and if there is an interest to keep the acount for personal use.If so, kindly ask the person to add a friend or more, fill out more details, provide a picture and so on.Hand over full control to the account either by asking the person to change the password and not let you see or know it.Again, ask kindly to get some future updates, screenshot or similar to see how the account evolve, or add yourself as a friend and keep track that way.I do not suggest in any way to create an account without consent! This includes all activities that might seem harmless:Don't use the identity of someone you "found somewhere"!Don't create a fake account, especially not in the name of someone popular or someone that might be harmed in any way by your creation - the person might have good reasons not to appear on FB!If you don't have Facebook already feel free to use to do the test with your own details!Never, ever use pictures that are not your own or that you don't have the explicit permission to use even if you took them!

Contest Layout and more

The latest changes are mostly around the layouts and inner workings of contests.  We've arranged all the contest information in tabs on one page, minimizing the work you need to do to find out all the contest details.  We also made some backend changes to allow the contest manager a bit more flexibility in how the contest looks, especially for contests with sponsors. Additionally, we have published for the first time our detailed Privacy Policy.  There's a lot of detail there but the important bit is about halfway down: "Instructables will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone." We've always had that policy internally, but now it's published and official.  It's linked on every page, in the footer, along with the other "About Us" links. Finally, we've done a bit more tweaking of the header - avid Answerers will be pleased to note, we took your advice and returned the Answers link to the top level navigation.  Also we're trying out having the search box just up under the login bits, to save a little vertical space.

Tor/VPN Router [How To Auto-Connect VPN After Tor Connected at Boot]

Dear Instructables Family,Hope you are well and healthy. My name is Enes and i am living in Istanbul. As you know in my country everything is being enforced by brute force to people. Tor, Wikipedia, Imgur, Pastebin, NordVPN, ProtonVPN, Privateinternetacces, PureVPN, etc. many website and service is blocked. There is no "privacy" in my country. For this reason i am looking for a "full privacy solution" for me and who is living same fate since years. I read many article and project but i couldn't believe they are "full privacy solution". Today i encountered with a "Raspberry Pi VPN server project" and i liked it. I have one (RPI 3B) and want to make a full privacy solution with VPN and Tor (with obfs4 bridges it is working but they are blocking everyday our bridges and we need to find another bridges every day). I created a Tor router with RPI and it is working good (little bit slow but i don't have any choice). But i want to add more security and privacy to this router. For example i have a VPN membership but i can not use it because it is heavily blocked. I want to do something but i couldn't find how can i make. Let me explain. My Onion AP is working for now good and when i connect as a client from a computer, i can access https://check.torproject.org website and everything is OK.My VPN membership supports TCP and UDP OpenVPN. It has TCP and UDP .ovpn files with a lots of country. I installed Open VPN on Raspberry and configured it for auto-connect at boot. It is working, when i reboot Raspberry, it connects automatically. But i have a problem. This VPN firm is heavily blocked and i can't use it. I tried ikev2, L2TP, Obfuscated Servers, Onion Servers, Double Servers and Standalone Servers of this VPN but there is no luck. Then i tried something. I connected Tor Router from computer and tried to connect this VPN firm. I could connect, it worked. Because i connected first Tor router and then VPN.My current schema is this:RPI ---> Internet comes from eth0 ---> Tor ----> Share Tor Connection by wlan0To Do:RPI ---> Internet comes from eth0 ---> First Connection Tor (I don't want to share Tor connection immediately because i need to connect VPN with Tor, if i share immediately by iptables, there is no Tor connection and i can't connect VPN) ---> Then connect VPN ---> Share Tor/VPN internet by wlan0I searched on forums, blogs and websites lots of. OpenVPN is using tun0 interface. I have three (3) questions. I am stucked here.1) How can RPI connect VPN with Tor without forward Tor connection? (Connect VPN with Tor and then share Tor/VPN. 2) When i achieved these steps how can i test Tor/VPN connection from a computer (client)? I mean how can i seperate them? 3) Should i add these commands to iptables-ipv4.nat script?-A POSTROUTING -o tun0 -j MASQUERADE -A FORWARD -i tun0 -o wlan0 -m state --state RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT -A FORWARD -i wlan0 -o tun0 -j ACCEPTIf i achieve this i will be so happy and restful.Could you please help me about these issues?P.S: Sorry for my bad English. Thanks in advance.Best Regards, Enes

Did you get a copy of the book? Show us and get a patch!

We have a new feature here at Instructables: the virtual patch! We'll be giving these away for contests in the future. They'll appear on your "You" page like in the picture below. The first one we're giving away is a book patch for everyone who's bought or won a copy of The Best of Instructables, Volume 1. Google Chrome Cant Upload Images

In Google Chrome the past few days when you click on the upload images button the 'Upload, Cancel, Image Library' Buttons are out of view at the bottom of the screen. There is no scroll bar to get down to them, making the image uploader non working for me in Chrome. For now I'm using Firefox , but Firefox just doesn't invade my personal privacy to the degree that Chrome does, therefore it's psychic link ability to read my mind is not as strong as with Chrome. (Passwords, Search suggestions, autofill, etc.) Attatched is an image. There is a scroll bar on the side of the browser window but it doesnt scroll the image uploader, just the page behind it.

9gag is stealing your content

Your content, hosted at https://www.instructables.com/id/Privacy-monitor-made-from-an-old-LCD-Monitor/ Has been misappropriated by the website 9gag.com at http://9gag.com/gag/4705255 They placed it on their website, which is monetized with ads. When downloaded or linked, their watermark appears on the image. They have clearly not asked for permission to do this, they have not given any sort of credit or attribution. This is a clear violation of your rights and of the law. Kindly sue these buttholes, I really dislike them. Make a Data Tracking Form in Instructables?

I like to keep track of my data re: all the instructables that I have done, and have all the data viewable in one place....would be interesting to see others, as well, but that may not be a viable function. Privacy issues, etc....Ideally, by clicking on "you", profile, etc., there could be a "statistics form", written in Excel, or such, with all this data and more...Barring this, and it would be a lot of programming work, is there a way you could simply but the total number of views, for all instructables, to date, under "stats" on the "info" sheet that appears next to an instructable that you are viewing? I have included pictures of a form that I put in use to do this very thing. Something similar, perhaps? Thanks. Cman

Random knex challenge 8- First EVER user orgainized knex video contest.

This is the first ever user-orgainized knex video contest.  So without further ado, here it is: The topic of the video is: Knex wars. That's right, make an arsenal of guns, gather up some friends, and have a shootout.  It can be any gametype, the players and weapons won't matter, and the outcome of the war won't decide the winner of this contest.   What will decide the winner is a war that makes me want to participate, even if it means selling my soul to Satan.  For example, here is a video that would win if it was entered in the contest: This is a video that wouldn't be likely to win: So get filming!  The only requirements is that it has to be a video, and there has to be more than 1 person in it.  Face showing is optional for privacy-concerned users.

Service to transfer handwritten content to text and send via e-mail.

Hello, I wonder if you have any information or guidance on the following:- Is there a service which transfers content from handwritten letters, or in images, such as in a fax service, to typed text which can then be sent to an e-mail address? Would there be some sort of security / anonymity / privacy involved, as there is with e-mails and post? Many people who require help on benefits, housing (travellers, homeless) do not necessarily have access to a computer, yet most of this information and guidance is available online. This is great for those who have access, but what about for those who have not? I know of PO Boxes which give anonymity, but this only works from one person to another, and only with written material. Any ideas or suggestions of such a service would be much appreciated. Microsoft Office for Linux

I heard last week that Microsoft will be porting their popular Office suite to Linux this year. As an avid Linux user, and a firm believer in the free software movement, I must say that this has a certain odor to it. Do we honestly think that a company that has used phrases like "a cancer that infects everything it touches," to describe Linux will just start waving the olive branch and cater to the "cancer" as a valued customer? This peace offering calls to mind a certain wooden horse I think we all know. "either the Greeks are hiding, shut inside those beams, or the horse is a battle-engine, geared to breach our walls, spy on our homes, come down on our city, overwhelm us- or some other deception's lurking deep inside it. Trojans, never trust that horse. Whatever it is, I fear the Greeks, especially bearing gifts." One thing is for sure, considering how Microsoft constantly violates the privacy of their customers, rest assured that this horse WILL spy on our homes.

Edmund Scientific: Question

Has Edmund Scientifics (originally Edmund Science) bee taken over by a company outside the USA? The only reason I ask is that, I was reading down through the Geek Tech stuff, and when I went to descriptions, I found stuff like this: The Privacy Safe can detect the strength of radio frequency generated by different types of LED signal indicator such as wireless video camera. When a suspicious object is approached or located, the "Red" light will be on and the alarm will beep continuously. The superb bright torch could illuminate allows you to find things or read in the dark. That nearly drove me to distraction reading grammar like this from a supposedly scientific catalog. I remember when I was much younger, you couldn't even find a misspelled word in their catalogs, now I can hardly read them without wincing . Anyone know what happened?

Staying Warm Caption Contest - Update!

Now that Thanksgiving is over and winter is on it's way, I have been brainstorming ways to stay warm around Instructables HQ. One solution that I am considering is to make one of those toasty Compubody Socks that I was fortunate enough to try on a few months ago. However, thanks to the effectiveness of this cozy privacy shield, I can no longer tell whether or not I enjoyed this experience. Perhaps you can help me to remember by adding your caption below? The best caption will be picked Monday and the author will win a sweet tape measure from DIY Network who is hosting a Cool Tools Holiday Blitz that runs from tomorrow (11/27) to Sunday (11/30). They will also win a virtual caption contest patch!Limit of 3 entries per person. The winner will be selected on Monday (12/1)UPDATE: And the winner is...The Internet is a series of tubes... I'm wondering if anyone here has ever subscribed to magazines such as Popular Magazines. Four months ago I subscribed through Hearst Magazines paid by credit card, thinking Popular Magazines is a pretty well recognised magazines. How to remodel my front yard garden?

Hi, i have my front yard that I want to renovate so that it is both appealing day and night to anybody who walks in and memorises that moment.  This is the area that has the most traffic everyday at about any time so it needs to be practical, safe and appealing.  I want to design and use any materials but needs to be in the green way as there are much focus on these nowadays and prevent wastage. This is what I have in mind: 12 volt system: A/or many power packs that will provide power to all the electrical stuffs, charged using solar panels and since these will be low voltage it should be safe. Items that would be using 12v would be outdoor lighthing, the power cables, water pump submersible, submersible light.  It would be great to have an electrical plan that would aid however I don't know how to do that. Water feature: Add a biological filter made of concrete for the pond with all its plumbing and also add overflow drain in pond and a small canal to evacuate the excess of water.  Plants:  Concerning the plants some will be moved, cut down or removed completely.  I want a complete mixture of different kinds of plants such As bushes creeping plants etc.  It would be nice to create a plant plan both written and visual as it would aid greatly however I don't really have that knowledge. Other things: I would like to include pergolas and arbours and also allow plants to grow on them such as creeping plants. I want the area to have complete or as much privacy as possible but don't really know specially by hiding the view from above.  As A boundary I want to include fencing and then let creeping plants to grow on them just to get that privacy.  An automatic watering system would be very good such as popup sprinkler, or drip irrigation but an irrigation plan would best be suited but still I don't know how to make that. There should be provision for spaces in adding security cameras that would remain hidden for a certain time period. Finally there should be an Area to store dustbin and also to let clothes dry.

Indoor buzzing door opener with multiple openers

Hey guys, i would really like to have an instruction on how to install and customize a buzzing door opener. i´m kinda a lazy person and i want others to respect my privacy. My family is constantly rushing into my room in the most...lets say awkward situations :D I want the door to my room just to open from the inside or from the outside when pushing the open button. On should be near my pc and one should be near my bed. This would work perfectly if i get one of this buzzing door openers which are used to open the main door to the house. But i dont wanna replace my hole door. Just the metal part where the lock is. Also it would be neat if the openers where wireless. And the lock should work like a normal lock: I put in the key and i come in from the outside like a normal door =) Any one brave enough to take this challenge?

Instructable on Making a Irish Style Hedgerow

I couldn't figure out if this should be in Outdoors, Burning Questions or Green. Since I'm looking for an ible on this, Burning Questions it is! I was wondering if any of the members from Ireland or the UK could share any knowledge of hedgerows. I've of course heard of them but never really thought much about it until I read an article from an American that moved to Ireland. His description was interesting to me and I started to look up how to make my own but the descriptions I found were simplistic and didn't do what I was reading about in the article. Maybe I didn't look in the right place? In any event, an Instructable on this would be great or if anyone could just share what they know on the subject I'd like to try my hand at making my own since I have an aging privacy fence that will probably only last me a few more years (if that)  and I'd like to start replacing it with a hedgerow. Thanks!

How can I change my username?

Long story short, I set up this account 4 years ago when I was 12. It was originally attached to my Facebook, but I deleted my Facebook recently out of privacy concerns. I thought my old account would be deleted, so I could simply create a new one not tied to my old account, but it appears that it kept my old username, profile picture (which I just changed today), images, and even a draft for a Instructable group I didn't finish when I was 12. I checked the official page for changing usernames here on the forums, but it must be inactive as I was unable to comment on it. I was also unable to find the button under instructables.com/you that allows you can change it, which I'm suspecting has to do with the CSS changes over the years. Where can I go to have my username changed to something a bit more mature, and age appropriate? The username I want to change it to is Takutanuva.

Crazy Dr. Seuss-style House

Check out this NYTimes slideshow of an absolutely awesome house on Long Island!None of the surfaces are level, everything is brightly colored, and you'd have to hang curtains to get any privacy. The architects included poles to help people stay upright when climbing around. I totally want one of these... From the article:The house is off-limits to children, and adults are asked to sign a waiver when they enter. The main concern is the concrete floor, which rises and falls like the surface of a vast, bumpy chocolate chip cookie. But, for Arakawa, 71, an artist who designed the house with his wife, Madeline Gins, the floor is a delight, as well as a proving ground. As he scampered across it with youthful enthusiasm on a Friday evening in March, he compared himself to the first man to walk on the moon. "If Neil Armstrong were here, he would say, "This is even better! Then Ms. Gins, 66, began holding forth about the health benefits of the house, officially called Bioscleave House (Lifespan Extending Villa). Its architecture makes people use their bodies in unexpected ways to maintain equilibrium, and that, she said, will stimulate their immune systems."They ought to build hospitals like this," she said.A reporter, who thinks they should never, ever build hospitals like this, tried to go with the flow.
