I have a pro membership. Why am I continually badgered to become a pro member when I already am one and sometimes I have troubles downloading PDF'S. Why am I being made to jump thru so many hoops just to enjoy the benefits of pro membership every time I log in???

What is the point of the "Best answers %" ? With 220+ Best answers, and nearly 3900 replies to questions, my "BA %" is very low. Its a major disincentive to continuing to contribute, because I should go to great lengths not to help people further with their problems, after an initial answer, because it forces my statistics DOWN. I'd appreciate a more meaningful statistic related to my contribution here.

For a little while now, I have been questioning one thing: "Why are there so many new Pro Members that never even do anything on Instructables?" When you go on the home page, at the right side directly above the contests, you will see that the website shows new Pro Members. The odd bit about it is that when you click on some of their profiles, you will see that most of them haven't done anything on Instructables at all. Wouldn't one of them at least have made a comment, or asked a question? I'm now wondering if the owners of Instructables are making Instructables Pro Members on purpose, trying to convince the others that if so many people already went Pro, maybe they should too. If this is true, they wouldn't lose money, because if they are making the "Fake Members", their money goes right back to them. Leave a comment on what you think, or if you have an answer, please tell us all.

Every link I click on signs me out. On the pdf page no link will download with out signing me out. I sign back in and click on the link only to be signed back out and told that I cant download till I sign in. Its a cycle. In both safari and firefox. If you cant provide me with what I paid for then end my contract. From reading the forums you are not providing service or fixing the issue. This was a great site when it was a resource and functional. Ever since it became a paid site it's gone down hill. I have screen shots of the issues if needed. thank you -Aaron Koscielniak

For exampe members on instructables can become pro members
Question by everyday im shuffling, except fridays, i got to get down on friday | last reply
Fellow-pro-members, I have been seeing a lot of complaints about viruses / redirection etc. in the last couple of weeks. It may be my imagination, but most / all seem to be from non-pro members. Are pro members getting these problems (especially if you click through from the newsletter)? I haven't seen any of the problems (running FF in Wondows, with Norton installed and up-to-date).

Currently the Pro Members forum only has one category. What are the sorts of things you'd like to talk about here? Pro Features you'd like us to develop? The inside scoop on Randy's next secret project? Let us know, and we'll create a handful of categories to keep it organized. Thanks for going pro!

I was recently asked by a member whether I could send them a copy of the full PDF of my Instructable since they weren't Pro Members. If I were paying for my membership I probably wouldn't consider it. But having won my Pro membership in a contest, the morality of the situation is in question. I have not sent the materials, but would like to know other members' or moderators' thoughts on the morality and/or legality of such handouts. I realize the membership was awarded to me and me alone, but my urge to share my own work is pretty strong. Thanks

I was looking through the discounts that pro instructables members get (which I am). I saw a 10% off your purchase from adafruit. It said that you can only use it once but I have never used it before. I was trying to buy an arduino uno, full sized breadboard, and breadboard wires. When I entered the code that I got (which I wont say on here but private message me if you need to know it) in the "enter gift certificates or discount codes" box in your cart it says invalid coupon code. Away from that, On the iOS app running iOS 6.1.6, there are many glitches in the app. One of them is that in the contest tab, it only shows some of the current contests, none of the finished and rarely it will show one that is being judged or open for voting only. Then it doesn't show all of the contests. For example, today, 6/30/14 at 4:30 pm Pacific time, It shows 15 out of 23 contests. It shows the contests: squeeze ore out of summer, Epilog 6, summer #mikehacks, paint it, great outdoors, lego, knex, metal, home tech, hair and makeup, concrete, glue, bbq, swimwear, and battery contest. The ones it doesn't show on the app that appear on the website are green design, launch it, wheels, outdoor workshop, bees, tarun featured author, r/c, and pallet contests. Some website problems are also there, Often times you will have to click search twice because the first time it will just go to the featured page. You also have to click twice to place a comment. I'm not sure if this is a bug but I posted a Q and A topic about how I haven't got a medal for different things like being featured and getting views and also comments. I've got one featured and about 13.5k views. I should have two bronze medals. In the Q and A topic someone answered that I might not be able to get them for a certain amount of time: e.g. a year, I've been a member for about six months, so I thought that might be true. Then I saw that Bhawya already has 6 achievements including 3 medals, and she has been a member for less time than me. Also, a suggestion, it would be nice to have forums, groups, and Q&A; on the iOS app. And a collections section.

At 9 am CST today I paid for Pro Membership via Paypal. However when I log in and go to profile, it does not see that I am a Pro Member; therefore, I cannot download. I received an automated response to the e-mail to service but this did not answer questions. How long should it take before my account becomes a Pro Member where I can download. I want to to be patient but I also would like to get started on my project. Any advice or help would be appreciated. Gracias, Dr. Juan

I just figured out this week that only Pro members "now" can view all step in one page and download PDF.....but I can do whatever you can do guys !! probably a bug ! so I found that It's important to tell you about this problem as others pay money to enjoy what I already enjoy for free... thanks

I want to answer some of the questions posted in the Q&A; section, is there a way I can search for questions in my field? (Aircraft, motorcycles) If that doesn't exist then we should have it, I would be happy to spread my knowledge, that's why we're all here right? Greg

It could be another Go Pro incentive, but have a space where members can challenge others to make a particular item by a given date, then let the membership vote on the winner. Similar to what is done now with contests except it's hardly any work for you guys and increases the number of ideas pertinent to then members themselves.

I was thinking that it would be a good idea to change the "pro icon" to say "staff", or something like that, for the instructables staff members. That way people will be able to tell the staff members apart form other members. I know that a lot of the people that use the site frequently already know who the staff members are, but it would be helpful with all of the new interns. Also it would be helpful for people new to the site. AI

I really do not have a problem with the Pro accounts, instructables is a business, and businesses need money to survive. I would however like to suggest an idea borrowed from i-hacked.com. Over at i-hacked, the webmaster allows users to submit a how-to OR pay to become a member. Why not reward the users who make/made instructables what it is. I think instructables should allow users that submit a certain number of "high quality" instructables to become Pro members. These members have contributed as much or more than $3 per month, just by a different means. What do you guys think? -Alfonso

Is it possible to become a pro member for only one month?
Question by Hellosim5377 | last reply
Would I get another year added on to my Pro membership, or would I simply not get it? As you can plainly see, I am not a Pro member, and can only hope to be one someday. I just needed things cleared up. Thanks.

Is there anyone out there who isn't a pro but wants to be a pro member? I have two 3 month pro memberships gift codes available to two people who have made instructables but have not yet gone pro. So the first two to reply will receive them. Happy Summer! Zurichko

I'm fairly sure somebody else has mentioned this, but I don't remember what the response was: It would be nice if there was an "logged in now" indicator, such as people's usernames being underlined, that was only visible to pro members. Or maybe there could be a page that simply lists all those logged in as you look. Just a thought.
