Knex pump action mech? Answered

What is the knex pump action mech, I understand how to do the trigger but I cannot understand how the pump attaches onto the ram and how it stays on the body of the gun. Has anyone got a picture or an easy to build gun which doesn't use too many pieces and demonstrates the mech well, I don't care about power or reliability, I just want to understand the basic principles of the mech

new knex pump action

Please try to make it off of my crude drawing. If you post an ible please give me credit or tell me if it has been done. If so post link. The way it works is when you pump it the pusher hits the top most ammo. That pushes it onto the ammo lifter. When you pump forward  that pulls the string which raises the ammo lifter. That then becomes part of the bottom of the barrel. Then you cock the gun and fire. Repeat. P.S. The scriblls on the paper are not hyroglfics they are words.

Pump action crossbow with a mag

Alright, I've had this idea for like forever and I finally got a working prototype yesterday. It has a pump with two prongs on the side which catch the rubber band bow as it is fired and then pulls it back. The trigger is a triangle shape so the rubber band can slide over the top, but still be caught on the back. The system has a few kinks, but mostly it just isn't that smooth. I hope to work them out and eventually be posting.

Concept for Pump + Bolt Action

I had this idea for awhile. Basically you combine the pumping action of a pump and the loading action of a bolt action to get something with a high RoF and high power without needing a turret. The idea is quite simple really. My idea is to have a bolt loading pin attached to a pump that contains the magazine. when you pull the magazine back far enough it will load a round into the chamber. When you move the pump back the bolt pin will push the piece of ammo forward with it. Anyone feel up to making something like this?

New knex pump action idea

Ok, to start off, If you are wondering why I dont have a gun to demonstrate this concept, its because I just thought of this a few hours ago.So anyways, I have an idea for a pump action concept. This idea would work like thisthe rubberbands would be hooked onto the pump instead of the gun via Y connectors on the pump.when the pump pulls the ram back, the rubberbands do not expand or contractafter the ram goes behind the trigger, the pump is pushed forward, expanding the bands and giving the gun its powerthe pump hooks into a locking mechanismthe trigger is pulled, and either recoil or another mechanism hooked to the trigger unlocks the locking mechanism for the pumpThe advantage of this over other pump action guns would be that the pump would be easy to pull back, no matter how many rubberbands are on the pump.

New Theory For A Pump Action Gun

The black is the gun body, the red is the ramrod, the yellow is the pump, the green are the wheels, the blue could be either string or fishing line. Theoreticly i think that this gun can hold as much power as you can pump if you use high quality fishing line and you have built a strong gun body. I think that this could be a very powerful shotgun if built right. i myself have tried to do this many times through but have never sucseded. I would like to see someone give a shot at this one. I looked around extinsivly and could find no gun like this. I give a thousand congrates to whoever sucsedes in building this. Also if someone does happen to build it I would like partial credit and instructions. I would like to thank all of you for taking you time to read this through.

knex real pump action shotgun

I was looking around and I found this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qa5SXX9TNW8 My question is, are there any knex guns that use a similar mech as this? Shots are loaded from the bottom chamber and the pump reloads a shot. like the zkar v2 only pump action. It doesn't have to look this realistic obviously. Now I want to buy a bunch of black legos. :)

Question by pmgroundhog   |  last reply

a real pump action shot gun out of knex.

By a real pump action i meen it loads the round not pulls back the ram. the idea was to have a crossbow type thing. have it shoot green connectors. the pump has a claw that has hands made out of hindges. when you have somthing in the claws path that goes inside of the claw and will move the claw hands out to let go of the round. and the thing out side of the claw hands the make it grab the round. so first you lode the rounds green connectors. then you pull the pump back so that it grabs the green connector. the green connector has a rubberband on it. when you pump back the green connector is pulld back and loaded. the claw hands then go over the thing that makes them let go of the round.the next green connector is loaded. the green connector is put in place by the mag. when the greenconnector is fired it slides over the nexted one loaded and leaves the rubberband on the next green connector. then you pump agein and the prosses starts all over again for as long as you want.

If somone manages to do this and follow all of the things obove I will post an instructable about my gun. With all credit to your name for the magisine. Not-quite pump action mag fed gun

Last night I came up with an idea for a (possibly?) new action for a k'nex gun. It has two pieces to pull back when you cock the gun, and you pull them back as one. When these are out of the way a shot drops out of the magazine. Then you slide the inside pull-piece back towards the gun, which pushes the shot that has dropped down into the correct place, and possibly arms the trigger. Finally you pull the trigger and the outside sliding piece+firing pin snap back to their original position, firing the gun. I would like to know: A. Is there a better (i.e, simpler or easier to use) way to do this, B. Has this been done before, and C. Ideas on how I would go about doing this, or somebody else to do something cool with the idea. The attached pictures show a rough diagram of each step, although details may be different between the pictures and above description,.

Perfect War Gun

Well, The Dunkis asked for a perfect war gun, so i made one. This thing is packed with innovation (not really), it's got a new way to hold shells, a different way to put a turret,  and a thingy for the ratchet that i put on my ASCB. It is complete with: A slingshot a turret  a pump action gun A trigger that activates the slingshot and the turret a separate trigger for the bottom A turret that doesn't use the tube sort of whatever The only feature this doesn't have is a mag for the pump action part Yes, the on the last picture you can actually see the face that has brought the world happiness :)

BTPA-7

This is my newest project-the BTPA-7.  BTPA stands for bullet transfer pump action.  This gun brings out the new year of innovation, as it is my most innovative and successful gun yet.  It is a bolt action gun, making for superior efficiency, combined with a pump, making for a high ROF.  Unlike other bolt action guns, however, this gun uses a pusher to transfer the bullet to the firing chamber, and also unique to other bolt action guns, the bullet stays there until it is fired, no matter how you shake or tilt it.  Right now I have most of it done, but do not have the pieces for the ram guide, which is crucial to making the gun fire successfully, keeping the ram in tact as it is pulled back.   Here is a video of the bullet transfer system: And here is a video of the gun with the pump (I also removed some pieces that were getting in the way of the trigger so now it works perfectly) Let me know what you think.

And you thought pump-action guns were cool...TVIKT entry

Well you obviously haven't seen the Knetix L-SAR prototype.  The lever-system assault rifle introduces a whole new concept that can easily be improved (in fact, I need some ideas on how to get it to pull back further, so if you have any, leave a comment).  It being a prototype, it does not perform well at all, so I made removable firing pins-one that gets about 45-50 feet with one rubber band, but you have to pull it back manually, and one that you use the lever to pull back, but only gets about 15 feet, and is very unreliable (I explain that more in the video).  It also introduces a new magazine that is also very innovative, being a top loading mag with an internal pusher-kind of like ironman69's with the bendy rod, but still it's own thing.  I  am very proud of this gun and I hope that people can come up with ideas to increase the pull-back capacity of the lever, so it can perform as well as with the manual pin.  Here is the video link: www.youtube.com/watch

What i've been up to: the bolt action, bullpup, tube mag, pump action, dual shot, sling repeater. Got your attention yet?

Ok, for those of you who had seen my shotgun design, you could probably tell it was over before it had even started.  I had tried 5 different layouts and I couldn't get past the frontmost barrel without running into problems.  I think it was a cool design, but it was just too much for K'nex. Most of my best get designs just pop into my head at the most random times.  Is it just me, or does this happen to other people too?  Anyways I was trying to make it until the bell in pre-cal (my teacher is a crazy cat woman who enjoys talking about her imaginary husband) and I just started drawing this design.  Not only did it kill 10 minutes but it may just be the best thing I've come up with in terms of K'nex. The magazine looking thing in front of the handle is actually the driving mechanism in this gun.  Shots are housed in the stock pressing up against the pusher.  When the pump is pulled, the pusher moves down, allowing two bullets (one shot) into the chamber.  When the pump is released, the pusher pushes the bullets up against an upper section, where they wait for the trigger so be pulled, releasing the ratchet and the rubber band, launching the two bullets with a decent (I hope) spread.   Even though it doesn't shoot yet it is fun to just load the ammo (thats just how cool this gun it).  It is probably going to be a little different than what is shown in the video by the time I post it, but right now I'm just going with what I have.  I hope you like it and please let me know of any improvements you can come up with. -Kinetic

Competitor's lost touch?

So I've known this for awhile and to be honest it doesn't bother me to badly but my Zip series is much more popular than my Competitor series. The first Zip has more views than my first Competitor which has been out for months, but I do realize the philosophy out with the old, in with the new so I could see the original Competitor collecting dust, after all, it doesn't even have a mag lock! Anyway the main reason I'm starting this forum topic is to find out what you like about the Zip series. Has it been the concepts I have been applying in each pump action model? Was it the styling, which was more spontaneous and sci-fi? Maybe it was a hidden preference for the ergonomics of pump action. The truth is, I don't know and I want you knexer's to tell me what you like or dislike about my Zips and Competitors. Using this information I will be able to build a better Competitor or maybe just refocus on building Zip4.

True Shotgun

If anyone has been around knex guns for any period of time, you'll notice there are an amazing amount of misnaming going on. For instance, just because something has a pump does not make it a shotgun! A shotgun is a gun that fires little pellets of ammunition called shot. After looking at all the supposed knex "shotguns", I only found very few that actually fired shot. So I set out to make my own, and this is the result:A true, pump action shotgun that fires three green rods at a time from a shell.EDIT: Now an instructable

Vice CKG Bolt Action Rifle

I haven't posted anything for a few months, and I decided to begin work on something that would blow everyone away.  My goal was to create the most efficient, most power, most versatile mag fed knex rifle ever.  I discovered a way to do that when I came up with the Bullet Transfer System (BTS) that you saw in my BTPA pump action rifle.  However, the BTPA had a several drawbacks.  The first was the size of it.  It was just way too big.  Second was that the ammo it shot was connector ammo, and would start spinning out very quickly.  Last was that the ram barely had any time to accelerate,  as the bullet was placed right above the handle.  I suddenly thought of a design that would solve these problems, quickly drew them out, and began work.  The result was the most efficient, versatile, and powerful mag fed gun ever made, the Vice CKG.  CKG stands for Compact Knex Gun, and I am truly proud if it.  The trigger is a variation of Zak's so I give him credit for that.  So exactly how efficient is this gun?  I was able to get 60+ feet with a string of two #64s with the long range round.  The yellow rods get around 50 feet, only because they spin out after a while, but with two #64s unsharpened yellows can go right through a box from a few feet away.  What's the secret to this incredible efficiency?  First off, the firing pin is a grey rod+a gray connector long, giving it that extra room to accelerate.  Second, the trigger is as far back as possible.  Third, the rods are placed as far away from the ram, giving it time to accelerate.  Finally, the BTS allows the bullet to stay in place with nearly no contact between the bullet and the gun.   THIS IS THE MOST POWERFUL, EFFICIENT, AND VERSATILE MAG FED GUN OUT THERE. (I know that statement may sound a little bold, but I am very confident in saying it) Pros 60+ feet range single shot with two #64s 50 feet range with yellows with two #64s Extremely versatile (perfect for long and close range) Looks great 15 yellow rod mag capacity You will dominate the battlefield Cons Reload time (for me anyways)   This video is a little out of date, I have made some upgrades since it was made/

Solar Power Well Pump Idea Thing

Hello, I've been thinking lately about moving out to the desert lately and living off the grid with a well, but I'm not sure my base idea for pulling up water from a well will actually work. My idea is to have a line running up from the well (ending in a one way valve) to the bottom of essentially a steel water trough with a glass lip on top making it airtight. A pvc would run from a hole in the top to a water storage tank to move water vapors up there and condense them. My hoped mechanism of action would be as the air heats up in the trough due to the sunlight it would force the water up from the well little by little and evaporate it. My question is, will this actually pull up water from the well or would I have to buy a solar pump?  I don't need lots of water fast or high pressure, the water storage will gravity feeds and collect throughout each day. My other idea which I'm pretty sure will work is having the showers, sinks, and washer (using a compost toilet) feed a one way line out to the hotbox too. If as little as 50% of the water makes it back into the lines that way then I will have cut my water usage in half. What does everybody think?

K'nexsayer 2.0

So i've been in a building slump now and days and haven't been building much, so i got my knex the other day and started building, the base of this gun is off Adamsdead's shotgun, but i modded the trigger mech a bit added a turret and improved somethings. Basically  this is something that functions the same as the knexsayer but uses way less parts, so builders with not that many pieces might be able to build this. So the gun is still in the works but i'll try to get some pics up as soon as a can.

Knex shotgun

Got a new idea for a gun, its the shotgun from the game halo, it will have a little trap door thingy, which will reveal a sort of hopper thingy, which i think can hold about 8 white rods, give or take a few, it will have a pump, that not only pushes the firing pin back, but also loads a bullet, with the pressure of the pump stopping the bullet from falling into the barrel, and when the pump is released the bullet will be loaded, and it will be a true trigger, not alot of new things, just a couple of things switched around, yes this will be my first gun, but i will have to learn to build a pump action gun before ANYTHING starts happening, thank you for reading this Yerjoking

The K4: Long-Range Reinvented

Greetings K'nex community.  I know I have been dead for the past few days, but that is because I have been very busy working on my latest and greatest K'nex gun, the K4. Before I start, let me just point out that when I say "latest and greatest", I mean it.  This gun is all about innovation, power, and performance.  It utilizes a new breed of pump (a slide in this case) that runs along a track system, allowing it to maintain a firm grip on the gun without getting in the way of any other major mechanisms.  It also uses a new kind of ammo, a new bow system (which is not yet on the gun) that allows the trigger to be place in the front of the gun that keeps it from interfering with any other mechanisms, and many other mechanisms that you just wouldn't see in an ordinary gun.   At this point, it is not yet complete, the bow is still in the works but most of the more tedious elements have been taken care of. So now I'll just shut up and give you guys a peek at the K4!  Check out the video here

A couple new Knex guns of mine

Here's some pictures of guns I've made lately. I most likely won't make instructions because they use too many pieces for most people to build. Tell me what you guys think. Cannon 2.0: This cannon mod shoots rods instead of blocks of Knex. I can say without a doubt, it is the farthest shooting Knex gun out there (yes, farther than KILLERK's pistol). And no more crap-handle :3 Pump-action fully-auto: I made this yesterday. It's a pump-action that gives 6 shots for 1 pump. Because I haven't built a good trigger for it yet, it is shot by pressing down that thing sticking out of the top (shoots 1 at a time, but very quickly depending on how fast you press it) . Shoots green rods with surprising accuracy and distance. Holds 42 bullets. Doubt I will post.
