God save the Queen!

It has been brought to my attention, after many years of being a proud American, that we are all believing a lie. We are all subjects of the British monarchy. Our good people, the conspiracy theorists, whom never have lied to us before are informing us to that fact. Therefore to show my new allegiance to the Crown, I will sing "Rule Britannia" every morning and I will renounce baseball as my favorite sport and I am gladly replacing cricket as my new spectator sport (I still have no idea how the game is played but I will learn sooner or later). God save the Queen! Watch the video!

Aluminum Pipe Bed size Queen

After reading an instructables on how to make a bed frame that was industrial strength, my husband built me this bed frame. Six years later, our dear dog can no longer jump onto the bed. We're selling this bed to move to something larger and lower to the floor. The joint parts are pretty expensive, and he spent around $400 on the fittings and railing. We're asking $300 Cash only, you pick up. We are in the Mills, Oakland Hills area.  SO, all in all, you'd be buying a pre-cut kit for the canopy style bed that has a feature here on the instructables website. You're more than welcome to email me directly. gaytha dot watley at gmail dot com.

Bohemian Rhapsody fancy dress outfit.

Hi All, I'm going on a stag do in August. the theme is freddie mercury (lead singer from Queen). I want to recreate the shot in the Bohemian Rhapsody video where its just the 4 heads all lit from below. I will be Freddie Mercury, I will print off the other faces and stick them to card, I just need a mechanism where by the 3 other faces are suspended around me, preferably on arms of some kind that are retractable and spring into place at the pull of a cord. Not sure how practical this is, just seeing if anyone has any ideas. thanks in advance.

Concerning the upcoming Maker's Faire in Queens, NY....

Unless some sort of miracle happens  (something I really doubt at this point), I will be unable to attend the Maker Faire in Queens NY this year which is only 6 day away ! I was really hoping to be able to arrange for a way up and a way to stay, but due to circumstances beyone my control (more on that later), I will not have the way nor the way to stay;  so sadly it will be a no show for me.   Next year, if I survive until then, I WILL be there unless I have lost everything here (I am wondering about that prospect too due to the very same "circumstance" I mentioned before).  Those that are able to go, I want to see all kinds of pictures (please).  Thanks !

MAKER FAIRE, Queens, NYC Sept. 17-18

Yes !   And I hope to be there,  somehow, this year for BOTH days....if I have to camp out in an outdoor latrine over night  :-)  Psst, can you imagine?   I was actually asked by someone who will remain nameless, WHY I wanted to go again, since I "saw it last year for a few hours".   *sigh*   Oh, before I forget:   here is the link to the actual site.... It appears now that I WILL NOT be able to go.....my financial situation has once again, bottomed out, and I haven't been able to  stave off the "leak" that continues to drain my account(s).

Homestuck Albums

I know this is not something that I usually do, but I have decided to create albums for the original kids from Homestuck: John Egbert, Rose Lalonde, Dave Strider, and Jade Harley.  Explanations of the songs picked will be noted, and I will try and get the running times of each album.  Each album has six tracks, with extended versions of songs when possible, so I'd say these are Deluxe EP (extended playtime) Singles.  I may try to cut down the running time and make LP (limited playtime) singles another time, and also, don't hold me to it, do soundtracks for some of my favorite trolls. (Note: you don't have to appreciate, understand, or have read Homestuck to enjoy this; as all the songs center around a character, to some extent, they center around a theme.  Enjoy!) Without further ado, DarkOwlKnex productions proudly presents its first four Deluxe EP singles. (Disclaimer: I don't own any of these songs; these are just some of my favorites that I feel fit the lives of the characters.  All rights go to the original artist and record company.) The Windy Thing: The Tale of John Egbert 1. Blue Monday (12" Version) - New Order (John's Home Life Theme) 2. Procession (12" Version) - New Order (John's 'Physical' Death Theme) 3. Ride The Wild Wind (Hybrid Extended Version; Fan Made Mix) - Queen (John, The Heir of Breath) 4. Hammer To Fall (Headbangers 12" Mix) - Queen (John's Strife Specibus: The Hammer)  5. Lullaby - The Cure (John and Vriska's Theme) 6. High (Extended Version) - The Cure (John's Ascent to God Tier; John and Jade's Brotherly/Sisterly Love Theme) GrimDark: The Tale of Rose Lalonde 1. Vicious Streak - New Order (Rose's Home Life Theme; The One-Upping-War Against Her 'Mother.') 2. Procession - Queen/Traditional Arrangement (Rose's 'Physical' Death Theme) 3. The Prophet's Song - Queen (Rose, The Seer of Light; Rose and Doc Scratch's Theme) 4. Twenty Four Hours - Joy Division (Rose's Destiny) 5.  The March Of The Black Queen (Deep Cuts Version) -  Queen (Rose's Rampage) 6. She's Lost Control (12" Version) - Joy Division (Rose Goes GrimDark) Cool Kid: The Tale of Dave Strider 1. Airheads - Roger Taylor (Dave, The Cool Kid; Dave's Home Life Theme) 2. Ceremony (Original Version) - New Order (Dave's 'Physical' Death Theme) 3. Time - Freddie Mercury (Dave, The Knight Of Time) 4. Two Sharp Pencils (Get Bad) - Roger Taylor (Dave's Ironic Humor; Dave and Terezi's Theme) 5. Synchronicity (Part One) - The Police (Dave's Time Hijinks) 6. Synchronicity (Part Two) - The Police (Dave's Time Hijinks... Revisited) Squiddles: The Tale of Jade Harley 1. De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da - The Police (Jade's Home Life Theme; Jade, The Silly, Creative Girl) 2. Ceremony (Alternate Version) - New Order (Jade's 'Physical' Death Theme) 3. Killing Time - Roger Taylor (Jade, The Witch Of Space) 4. Dreams Never End - New Order (Jade's Dreams) 5. A Winter's Tale (Fickle Mix; Fan Made Extended Version) - Queen (Jade's World In The Medium) 6. Beautiful Dreams - Roger Taylor (Jade's Dreams... Revisited) That's it!  Again, all rights go to the original artist and their record company/copyright holder. I hope that you enjoyed, and since I'm assuming that you didn't listen to all of the Deluxe EP's, I encourage you to come back and listen to them all when you have the time. -DarkOwlKnex

Maker Faire, Queens, NY - circa 2010 (or why on earth did I keep forgetting I had a camera...)

Well, I finally got to a Maker Faire  (I really was afraid I was going to get old before it happened and I wouldn't be able to make it -  ( :-P  Kiteman). I am still a bit dizzy, some from malnutrition (food vendors did not know what a credit nor debit card was, and I rarely carry much cash anymore), some from all the STUFF that was there to see.  I declined an invitation to ride on the JET powered merry go round (or whatever it was called) that occasionally would make talking at the Instructable's booth IMPOSSIBLE.  Of course, one of my favorite booths (no, I didn't get a picture of it) was a fellow that had like 20-30 old (very old) assembled Heath kits (mostly radio receiver/x-mitters) and of course the Maker tent. I don't think it is visible in any of the pictures, but I nearly seared my head off from sunlight exposure, dispite having a UV sensor on me to tell me when to get OUT of the sunlight. The most fun I had, however; honestly was meeting different members of the "gang" :-) Eric, and Cristy, Tetranitrite, Muffinator, Randy, CaitinsDad and a few others whose names escape me at the moment (hey, I am lucky I could remember those four, not because they aren't memorable, but because I have such a hard time remembering names). I even unofficially sat in at the booth for a bit, while Randy went "exploring"  (I think he went into the Science Center)......oddly enough, I got about 28 people interested enough in his book to take a sticker with the URL on it :-)    A real breakthrough for someone that has difficulties talking to strangers. I only got about 6 hours of sleep last night....mostly because I was still vibrating a bit when I got home.   My wife was upset with me when I got home because I had yelled at her on the phone when she called while I was in the middle of  he.....I mean Queens, trying to dodge taxi drivers.  I had told here I would call when I arrived......and getting back safely didn't seem to make up for that little indiscretion....oh well. Anyways, here are the pictures I took....sorry they aren't more in number.    Also, I smudged the faces of those I did not know......mostly because I am paranoid.  :-)

oh boy oh boy oh boy.... NYC Maker Faire is coming Sept. 21-22....

I may have a SHOT at going to the Maker Faire in Queens NY,  this coming Sept 21-22.  I am not sure if I will be able to scrape together enough to stay overnight or not (which would be the ONLY way I could be there both days), but I may be able to "earn" the tickets in any case. I am still at a loss however to explain to my wife why I want to go back since I have SEEN it already (*sigh* yes, I've told her repeatedly it is different each year).   Any suggestions about that would be appreciated.  Anyways,  are ANY of you all going to be there ?  One, or both days?  Will the Instructables team be there?    I hope I can be.....

DIY BED UPCYCLED CLOSETMAID CUBEICALS? I have ClosetMaid 4-cubby Cubeicals, want to make bed platform for queen?

I'm concerned that the Cubeicals are not sound enough structurally on their own, wondering if I need to somehow beef up their sturdiness?  I have a futon frame to scavenge for bed slats, etc, am needing more storage space under bed.  I'm in love with the "Nail-less, glue-less almost screw-less fire finished bed" by Tazo, and if the cost of materials to transform the Cubeicals into a workable bed frame is similar to his bed, I'll just make it instead.   I have two 4-cubby Cubeicals, but only want one cube of height for under the bed (the bed is about 12" thick already, and the cubes are about the same...  I would love some advice on how to proceed, if the cubes can be made safe, etc.  They have been moved a few times and are a little on the wobbly side already at this point, so they definitely need SOMETHING to beef 'em up if I use them.   I'm fairly handy, but don't have a lot of wood working tools... I can prob borrow what I need as long as it's not super specialized, etc.  Also, I'm on a budget.  like, a tiny budget :) Thanks in advance, I really appreciate any thoughts on this! zre013

Ideas for a wire chess set.

I was thinking about doing a wire chess set. Since it was suggested by CaitlinsDad over here: https://www.instructables.com/community/Requesting-feedback-on-a-Fire-Breathing-Dragon-tes/ Came up with this. These are rough (obviously), the rook should have crenelations and I did the king and queen in the same piece. It's like 5 AM and my fingers hurt from working on a wire Nine Tailed Fox (from Naruto) for my son. So, I took a short cut. The picture should make it clear how I'm planning to make things look. The knight is abstract, it always bothers me when the horse is the only thing with any detail. The pawn is about 1/2" x 1" tall, the queen would be just under 2" tall, the king is about 2 1/4" tall, both by 1" wide, the other 3 are about 1 1/2" x 3/4". It is done in 18g galvanized steel. Anybody still reading? Great! I'd love to get some feedback, good, bad, anything to either confirm it is just the best thing ever OR how it could be improved towards that goal. So don't hold back. Cheers.

how could I use the "cement wallet" instructable to support a bed?

Https://www.instructables.com/id/Cement-Wallet/  I was thinking that if bent the gloves into the right shape before pouring in the cement, and placed them into cinder blocks and held in place with more cement, they could be used as bed legs. if I were to use 8 blocks, with 2 hands each to hold up a queen sized bed, what would be the best way to reinforce them and prevent them from breaking and cracking? assuming that this could work. any advice on this project will be appreciated, thanks.

Two or three of my six grand kids have the potential to be DefCon Kids now what ?

So I have access to six young minds by helping my wife and retired teacher to sit with them 4 days a week. Four I drive to school while the parents (my children) earn a living.  Two are easily motivated and do well with Legos.  One likes robots, they all do math window games. I teach chess and play when thy want ( no Queen or rooks for me ) Programming is my artistic expression but I would push too hard and blow them away. What low level intros can be a leap into DefCon Kid status that you know worked well in your experiences ?

Light Cannons Answered

Hey-o,so heres the deal, im a remixer and im designing props for my future shows and thought how cool would it be to have 'Gaster Blasters' fly up on drones when i get to my Megalovania remix?for those of you who do not know what I am talking about Gaster Blasters are a weapon of sans from the popular game Undertale. they look like monster skulls and shoot lasers out of their mouths while im not trying to make lasers, i am trying to create a beam of light :) i plan on atttaching this device to a drone or perhaps just using a omnidimensional wire system to supend it.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! thanks~NoPawse Queen of Remixes Prince of Snailcheck me out on youtube, Twitter, and Soundcloudand dont forget to make requests using the links! Murphy style beds mechanism

Hey guys, I need some advice, I want to build a murphy style bed, in short i want the bed to look like so: http://www.resourcefurniture.com/space-savers/queen-space-saving-beds/ito I have build and tested the shelf.leg system, it works pretty well and is weighted out nicely. the concept is going to use pistons to lower the bed for a smoother feel but what my concern is what would be the best way to build the pivot mechanism at low cost but high durability. the bed will have a sofa at the front also but not like the one in the link, my version will be more of a box with cushion and fabrik that i can store items away into. Please use the link below to view a version of my concept for the pivot mechanism: http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/692/pivotsystem.jpg ( i know there are a few misspelt words but it was just a quick mock up for you guys) Any help is welcome - just dont advise me to buy the murphy bed mechanism as its to expensive and i believe i can build the entire bed for the same price :)
