I am going to make an electric vehicle so my question is that how to calculate cost per unit, cost per mile for an electric vehicle? and ways to overcome weight issues so that when a person sits on the vehicle, the speed does not reduce or less. I am asking this because i want to make a vehicle that will cover many miles with less battery efficiently. I hope that everyone understands that what i am trying to ask

Hey Guys, I need some help, I need to choose a transistor and get to know how to wire it. I have the following transistors: 6822 (http://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/view/604250/ALPHAWIRE/6822.html) 2N3904 (https://www.sparkfun.com/datasheets/Components/2N3904.pdf) 19001 2N2222A (http://www.onsemi.com/pub_link/Collateral/2N2222A-D.PDF) TIP42C (https://www.fairchildsemi.com/datasheets/TI/TIP42.pdf) And I need help to choose one that can run an Green LED Strip (16 in.). And also how to wire it. If you can give me the steps to wire it up to the output of a circuit and how to wire it up with the led strip it will be greatly appreciated. Oh and also the voltage at which the transistor turns on should be 2.8-9v ish. Thanks in advance. -Prickly Potato

Were you Tee Pee'd last week? Was your car suran-wrapped? Was there Icy Hot on the toilet seat AGAIN? Did someone give you frozen mayonnaise when you asked for vanilla ice cream? How about the hand in the bowl of warm water trick? Something else? Something WORSE? Don't worry, and don't get mad............get even! This is THE place to scheme about how to get those pranksters back! Mines, tripwires, water balloons, lasers (to pop black water balloons of course), water sniper rifles, pimped out go karts (mounted with water balloon cannons), you name it! If it's a prank, and it soaks to the bone, it should be disscussed here! Soon, we'll make them wet and sorry they messed with you! (If they get you back, evaluate the prank, and read this paragraph again!)

I get a new page of "everything" instead of the same page with five more related; the address of the new page seems always to be: https://www.instructables.com/tag/type-id/?q= 6. this started for me a week or so ago and seems very consistent (at least for me); would appreciate if someone would look at this 7. maybe this is happening to others? I am quite interested in the articulation of the bones of animals. I plan on using small game (squirrels, frogs) to begin with, and I will probably donate them to my Biology teacher, since she loves skeletons. The process of defleshing and whitening the bones of the animal is fairly straight forward - soak the carcass/skeleton in chemical baths and take it out when it's done. The chemicals needed for the process are what's going to be hard for me to obtain.I need a 0.3% solution of sodium carbonate. Sodium bicarb is extremely easy to come by, but I've never seen sodium carbonate. I've heard it is used to raise the pH in pools, so I'm guessing a pool store would carry it. But, would it be possible (practical) to make it? Is there a way, using household chemicals, to produce sodium carbonate? I don't need very much.Secondly, I need a 20% solution of hydrogen peroxide. I only have a 3% bottle. I've heard H2O2 is some pretty dangerous stuff. Again, is it possible for me to buy/make it? Would freeze-purifying it work? Thanks for any help, and if I get this to work out, of course it'll all be turned into an Instructable.

The amazing students in Arizona State University's Reflective Learning Research Group which is part of the Arts Media and Engineering program (phew), made a pretty cool Sensor Squid Relation Game. The venerable Becky Stern describes it as such:"The Sensor Squid is basically an Arduino-controlled, Bluetooth communicating 6-foot plush cephalopod used to control a collaborative Max/MSP game about community-generated media."In other words, it mediated group dynamics to create a positive decision-making collaborative environment. Hey, So I'm the outreach coordinator for the robot team in my college. I was wondering if anyone here knows of any activities that can be done with kids ranging from kindergarten up through high school. The two that I like are: 'Robotic Hand': Building a 'robotic' hand using normal household materials. (probably best suited for elementary or middle schoolers) 'Intelligent Paper': Basically a more CS-themed attempt to demystify AI (probably better for middle or high schoolers) They don't necessarily need to be all-encompassing, any suggestions related to any part of robotics are welcome

I have three chemistry questions. 1) What is my result when I mix baking powder(NOT sodium bicarbonate)and vinegar? 2) What is the result when one burns steel wool? Is Iron Oxide my end result? 3) When mixing vinegar and baking soda if I were to keep the mixture under pressure would the water and co2 stay as carbonic acid or still decompose into h2o and co2?

I was thinking of doing some sort of robotics for the upcoming microcontroller contest, and need to reduce the weight of my design. So, try and lighten the battery pack, and give more current, I want to use 2XAAA @ 3V, instead of regulating a 9V cell down to 5V. The PIC supposedly will run on 2V. So the question is, how well will a servo perform on 2.5 to 3.0V, and what will the current draw be with a light load (I have heard that they can draw a couple of amps with a very heavy load). Also, I have some 4V lithium ion cells out of a laptop, and need to charge them (They last so long on one charge, that I have not had to charge them since removing them from the laptop).

I had an idea for a camera stabilizer a while ago which involves some basic rules of physics. I've done some thinking on it and I can't seem to figure out if it would really work or not. It involves two principles: 1.) Torque (t=f*d) 2.) Inertia (p=m*v) ---- The idea is to combine a gimbal design found on camera "gliders" like these: -Commercial product: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/521721-REG/Steadicam_MERLIN_Merlin_Camera_Stabilizing_System.html -Homemade design: http://www.diycamera.com/stabiliser/index.html ...with some sort of see-saw to counter the effects of up-and-down motion. Ignoring the fact that this might be somewhat hard to hold such a thing, I just want to know if this would work. ---- Any balanced see-saw will have an equal amount of torque on either side of the pivot point. Therefore, a balanced see-saw will work with 500g hung 10cm from either side of the pivot point, OR 750g 5cm from one side and 250g 15cm from the other side (750*5=3750; 250*15=3750). With this concept, I thought of designing this part of the stabilizer like a small camera jib (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jib_(camera)). That is, the camera on one end with a counterweight on the other. The pivot point would have a handle or some kind of vehicle mount on it. The stabilization occurs (or so I'm thinking) because of inertia. Inertia=mass*velocity. So, when the pivot point (the handle) moves up or down, one of the sides of the see saw should move up faster than the other. The side that moves up slower (the longer side of the see saw, I'm thinking) should have the camera mounted to it. ---- Is there a flaw somewhere in my thinking? THE QUESTION: Would both sides of an uneven length, balanced see-saw move up at the same time when the pivot point is moved up or down? I'm not really sure and I'd like to hear your input.

Hi guys, I'm interning for a solar panel reseller and I just wrote an Instructable that introduces you to the basic fundamentals of home solar: What you need to buy, what you need to consider, and what you need to watch out for. There's inline links to our store pages, and "Additional Reading" links to our learning pages. That said, I'm confident that it's a well-written, informative introduction. Furthermore, I'm confident that besides the links, you can read through the whole thing without feeling like it's biased or hitting you over the head about going to our website. I'd hate to make a bad impression here - It'd be nice to keep doing articles like this. Before I publish this, can anyone let me know if it's too offensive? And if you have any suggestions about it, that'd be nice too! Thanks! https://www.instructables.com/id/EIPO8NUGAA0F501/

I finally broke down and asked the HOPE Conference people for some help, because I was unable to attend the Hope conference, with the ticket (since it was stated clearly at the time I bought it, that it was non-refundable). They could not, but one person offered to buy it. This is great news, if he comes through and actually does pay for it. BUT, if he doesn't, I haven't lost anything further. Just bringing you all up to speed on the last thing that needed done before I was free of worrying about the conference.

I need help finding a website, I've tried dozens of search terms and not come up with what I've needed, so posted in the hope that someone knew of a site like I'm describing or could offer better search terms. Since SEO (search engine optimisation) is such a profitable business all I'm getting is companies trying to sell me SEO services. What I'm after.... Is a site that you paste a URL and tell it search terms and it does searches at the top 5 or 10 search engines then tells you the ranking of your site with those search terms at those 5 or 10 search engines. (I want to find out the google, ask, yahoo etc ranking of one of my instructables, depending on the search terms used) This service MUST exist, I just can't find it :( If it doesn't exist, I'll bloody well write my own site to do it as I can't be the only one that wants to do this :p

Hi Guys, Recently I planned on making an portable phone charger the classical way, with a car phone charger. But then I came across the problem of choosing a battery. The 8 AA batteries way is not economical, as I will be charging a Sony Xperia Z1 and it will drain the batteries in one charge. The 8 AA rechargable battery method will be better but will set me back about $20 so that's a no. If I use a 9 volt battery it will charge the phone 20%. The final and the most stupidest method is to connect 10 9v batteries so that I get 9v 4 amps but that will be too bulky. Lithium batteries are useless as I will get the required amperage but the voltage will be too low and the other ones will once again set me back too much. So the only way is to use 8 AA batteries but every phone charge will cost me approx. $1. Is there any other cheap way or 8 AA batteries it is? Thanks in advance :).

But i cant find any instructables to teach me how to make these....Can anyone help or can anyone direct me to a few instructables that could be used to tweak to work for this purpose? - To help show how the astronauts have to regulate their atmosphere in the ISS or even explain how we don't breathe just oxygen - we breathe a combination of O2 and Nitrogen since Earth's atmosphere is mostly nitrogen. Well, I don't have a mental problem or anything, but it often gets weird and I just can't help but to ask. I'll recount several months before, around March or May last year. I was practicing Morse code, practicing with visuals, practicing with audios. After a few weeks of practice, I started hearing Morse code in my head, as in out of nowhere I literally hear it (completely random, it's not spelling out anything last I checked). I asked around about it (deleted the question though) and someone mentioned it's not normal/it's rare. Then fast forward into around November or December, I keep hearing that Morse encoded "SMS" ring-tone from a phone (it's quite popular here, heard it more than a thousand times). I kept searching for that cellular phone, but to no avail. I covered my ears with pillows, and I still kept hearing it. I then concluded that it was in my head. The end result was I couldn't fall asleep for 3 hours lying down on the bed. It's something like LSS (Last Song Syndrome, search it up if you don't know it) to the extremes (to the point that it resonates in your head and you can hear it as an audible tone not from your thoughts). Any thoughts as what may have been causing this?

Let's say I have a fresh alkaline AAA battery, 1.5V, 1200mAh. Also, let's say it discharges itself with 3% per year, just lying in the shelf. After one year, has both voltage and capacity been reduced 3%, or just the voltage? If not, how much has the capacity dropped then? I also wonder if the battery is being discharged the same way, when in use? E.e. is the proportion between voltage drop and capacity drop the same on the shelf while in use?

Hi all, i've got a problem with a formula in my excel spreadsheet that i'm using to get the scores for NFL teams 1978 - Current i have the data ok but the problem is with matching the the specific games. i've CONCATENATED the data to provide unique data points also it's in two columns (Home & Visitor) in the format of YearTeamW/L/DScore eg. 2012TitansW35 in the VERY unlikely event (and i've check a random selection) that the team has 2 wins at home with the same score this could cause an error. here is the formula i'm using: (version ~8000zzzzz lol) (all one formula, just added a line break to make it fit) =(IF(MATCH($A$3&$B$2&"w*",Home_Team,0)=MATCH($A$3&$C$2&"l*",Visitor,0),INDEX(Visitor,MATCH($A$3&$C$2&"l*",Visitor,0)) ,IF(MATCH($A$3&$B$2&"d*",Home_Team,0)=MATCH($A$3&$C$2&"d*",Visitor,0),INDEX(Visitor,MATCH($A$3&$C$2&"d*",Visitor,0))))) Here's a link to the folder with the spreadsheet. Well, I came across this post here a while ago, and I was lucky today to get one of these camping lights. The problem with it, however, unlike the one that is in the tutorial (which is 24 LED), I have one that is 36-LED (pictures included). So, if there's anything different I need to do wiring wise in comparison to the tutorial, let me know. I know I'm going to need to remove the power button on the front and the inner ring and have the power switch/power line running in from the outside of the ring. However, the upside is the inner ring, with the LEDs removed, gives me at least a template on what to cut out from the front. I've already bought a four AA battery power compartment from Radio Shack. So, again, any recommendations about what to do different with this unit, let me know. And if anyone wants a better picture of the inside, let me know, I've got it. :D

Hello everyone! I have a project in my mind and I would love some guidance and some ideas if possible. I already have a lot of 18650 batteries in an “acceptable” state (1800-2100mAh each) and I am planning to make a large battery bank, for use in camping mostly (smartphone charging, led bulbs, electrical air pumps 12v, etc) I did read a lot of articles in here about battery banks, but i didn't find something as complex as my idea. I have already made a 12v battery pack with 12x18650, 3 rows in parallel, of 4 in series in each row. My goal was to operate a 12v air pump for inflatable mattresses. It worked like a charm! (Also created with instructions from here! Thanks for that!) But since my “DIY disease” does not leave me in piece… I want to build a large enough pack that can support the following: 1) 12v car plug 2) 5v/1A + 5v/2.1A USB plugs 3) charge circuit for the battery pack, so I will no longer have to remove the batteries to charge them separately 4) switches in each plug 5) led voltmeter also with switch ?) at some point I would like to add a circuit to charge it with a solar charger or a mini wind turbine that i will create at some point with my 3D printer, but for now let stay with the basic stuff! For the case i will use a modified screw organizer case, with those classic 18650 black holders from ebay. (photo below) The case will fit almost 8 to 10 holders (4x18650), so we are talking for 32 to 40 batteries... My main concern is the circuit design. I have done a few simple things in the past, but this is a bit more complicated and that is why I want your guidance/ideas. How to safely connect all those things together or maybe suggest a different plan/design, cable thickness, etc... Links gathered so far: I am thinking about 4S in a row. Is that too much? Or should i consider 3S? 3S Li-ion Charger PCB with BMS For charger... something like this maybe? 12.6V 5A Charger optional... maybe i could fit sothing like that, for laptop charging? 150W DC-DC Boost Converter for 5v 1/2.1Amp charger i m looking at this. 5A Charger Step down Module for usb/12v plugs/voltmeter i am considering this option. Thanks in advance for your time!
