Lights Responding to Music

Hey Guys, I know there are a couple hacks that show how you can make a single LED or even a couple react to music (the bass makes them bright...) but I cannot find a way to make a string of lights react to music.  I want a longer string of lights to be able to do this so I can put them around a table, does anyone have a solution? Thanks

Strange problems with the mouse and keyboard? Answered

Must be bad karma for the new year but both my mouse and my keyboard are playing games with me on the PC. Of course they are wireless, mouse is a Logitech, keyboard some very old Aldi brand. After many years of good service they started to fail at the same time. And yes, I tried fresh batteries several times with no luck ;) Here are the current symptoms: 1. Keyboard Randomly keys I press fail to show up although the blinking on the receiver indicates an action was received. When typing a bit faster, and for me that is the two-finger-best-hope method a lot gets lost. My speed is slow enough to make a bad typist laugh in tears LOL In some rare cases I also get totally wrong results, usually somethe graphical character that otherwise need and ascii input to appear. 2. Mouse At times when the keyboard plays up the little rodent does the same. Here it means the pointer disappears or moves in jumps. Also mouse clicks on let's say a tab in the bowser often grab the tab or are not registered at all. It is now starting to annoy me, mainly bcause I failed to rectify this problem in any good way. Only system change in or before the problems started was the usual Windows 7 monthly update, but that came about a week before it all started. To make things worse the mouse uses Logitechs old wireles tech while the keyboard is in a totally different frequency and as said dirt cheap. I also fail to replicate the problem consistently or find a common cause. Funny thing: If used on my old Nexus tablet both perform just fine even from over 5m away. Would love to hear some thoughts on things to try or check... But so you know: Tried the drivers, different ports relocating the receivers and even a rollback of Windows to a state from Nov last year. Everything else connected to the USB ports performs fine. Am at the stage where I even accept weird things to try, so fire up please!

Samsung series 9 keys not responding? Answered

I own a samsung series 9 ultrabook and a few days ago some of the keys on the keyboard stopped working.  Almost all of the function keys wont work and several letter keys, as well as backspace, escape, and enter.  I have no idea why this is happening.  The only inkling i might have is that microsoft intelipoint may have installed a weird keyboard driver on my laptop and now it's messed up but i was never notified of a driver update.  I have used a wireless keyboard for the computer for a while now so i don't think it has anything to do with a driver from that.  anyone help please? samsung series 9 3d gen intel core model 900x windows 7 64-bit thanks for your time :)?

IR helicopter doesn't respond, how to fix it? Answered

Hello, I have here a (G.T. MODEL 9004) helicopter that worked fine for 3 years maybe, now I just wanted to use it again in one of my projects, so I went to Shake out the dust of my old toys, and didn't respond to any thing ! I charged it, and tried again and nothing except its internal LED blinking when I try to give a command from a transmitter. So it seems to receive but doesn't take an action ! (Note that you may see that it's important : When I used to use it, I was providing it the power through a 9V power supply because batteries were very coasting and get dry fast due to its usage in the helicopter charging, but it always worked fine.) It's company link : http://www.gt-model.cn/Eng/Product_Show.asp?id=177

ATMega328-pu not responding on stand-alone PCB? Answered

My ATMega328 based circuit is similar to the stand-alone Arduino design shown here. However even when I run a simple blink program the LED at pin 13 does not blink and I get no response from the microcontroller. I have tried the same circuit on a breadboard and it worked well. However when I transferred this on to the PCB there is no output. I've checked the continuity and all the coppertraces seem to be fine. I program the chip using my Arduino Uno board and place it in the circuit. This works on the breadboard but not on the PCB. I have attached the pictures of the PCB and a schematic diagram for reference. I'm completely stumped as to what the problem might be and would greatly appreciate any help.

White stuff on my dishes. Not responding to anything yet. What is it?

The picture shows what I am talking about.  So far we have tried more heat, less heat, adding TSP to the detergent, cleaning out the dishwasher with one of those put it in by itself and run cleaning agents, turning on heated dry,, running with vinegar and detergent, running with vinegar instead of detergent, and using jetdry.  None of these things worked in any combination we have tried. The substance is dry and slightly slick if I rub it between my fingers. It is not calcium deposits, or if it is, they are mixed with something else. Other than that I don't know what it is.  It tends to stick to everything but less so to glass and moreso to plastic. Any ideas would be appreciated.

sound-sensitive LED lights that respond to music, sewn into clothing

Hi there.   I'm new to the boards and off to the big festival in the desert next week.  Every year I make some kind of a flashing suit-- usually they are EL Wire -- which is kind of cool to dance in.  I recently took an Arduino course and I thought it would be great to make a jacket that reacted to sound.   Ideal:  Had a pot to deal with volume (of club music vs. speaking) and was able to power a row of LED's down each arm and possibly down the side of the torso. I have a board- I don't have time to program it- I'm wondering if anyone can help? I'm happy to sew it and all that stuff.  Yes, time is tight , but it doesn't have to be perfect! Let me know. There is some budget- not much but some.

How do I make Electroluminescent Fabric respond to sound?

Hey guys,  Been planning out a little project to do in my spare time that I'm hoping to have completed by Halloween this year (lot's of time for trial and error). I'm planning on making a set of Tron Legacy suits with some slight modifications. I've gone through all the tutorials regarding this particular project on Instructables and I'm mixing and matching methodologies and stuff. It's just this one thing that I'm trying to figure out that I really need help on. Everything is still in the planning phase so I'm pretty open to any suggestions on how to go about the whole design. Now, I've gotten that people use Electroluminescent wire/tape/strips for most of these projects. M friend and I are planning on importing some EL Fabric for our purposes.  What's going to be different about our projects is that I'm planning on making some of the EL patterns on the suit sound reactive. I had built a couple of speakers in the past that I want to incorporate into the design. Probably going to mount them on the back and disguise them as Disc holders. The idea is to have the speakers play some music which the entire suit is supposed to light up and pulsate to. My problem is that I'm importing some EL Fabrics that are not sound reactive and I'm not to sure as to how to modify them to be so. Furthermore, my friend who's making this with me, wants the lights to go off in sequence or according to some pattern. Basically, she wants us to be walking light shows, something which I am at a complete loss at how to accomplish. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how to go about this exactly? The essential thing here is getting the lights from the EL fabrics to go off according to the sound playing in some organized aesthetic pattern.  Thanks in advance, guys.

So yeah its really annoying and it isn't working for anything but the blink sketch.

Atmega32u4 USB support?

The boot loading works and I can upload sketchs to it using the ISP. How to let people respond to a comment before you even made it!

I noticed this by accident and there is no harm you can do with it. You just go to a topic (any topic you like) and reply to the last comment (the one above in the list). You typ in your comment in the reply screen but you don't submit it! Instead you select your comment and copy it. Then you immediatly click on "add a comment" (so don't press cancel in the reply screen) and paste it there. Then when you click comment, the site does something weird and it thinks the last person who commented made a reply to you! (see image) (note the completely different dates) This also seems to work with comments in the middle.. But here it does something other that is really strange. When you submit your comment. Your comment is put on the top but the comment you were replying to first gets reassigned to look like a reply to the comment above it! Try it out if you like. It worked for me. although you can do no harm with it and although people won't really find a use for it I reported it anyway :) Michel EDIT: I just noticed when somebody replies to your comment it turns itself good again. (Look at the gator-chopper made from real gator topic

How do I make something respond to pressure/movment with 2 discrete sounds and vibrate too? Answered

I'm looking to construct an internal module for a toy that would make the toy interactive for my little brother. I'd like the toy to respond with two sounds, one for a different level of touch pressure or movement he subjects the toy to. I'd like the sounds to be recordable so I can customise them. I'd also like the toy to vibrate whenever it responds. I've mucked around with RC cars and what not, but this exceeds my previous experience. Nothing like being ambitious, eh? Also, any tips on where I can find the parts I'd need (preferably in Australia, but if not, then cheap international options are fine) would be much appreciated :)

How do I install LED light strips in my guitar with an on/on/off switch where one on responds to the picking?

Ok so basically what I want to do is install LED light strips into my guitar with an on/on/off switch so one 'on' is where the LEDs are always on, and in the other they respond to picking. What I mean by that is that they light up only when the guitar is strummed, and the brightness depends on the picking intensity. I was thinking for the always on I could wire a 9v battery directly to the LEDs, and for the one where they respond to picking wire it like this: pickups-->voltage buffer-->amplifier-->rectifier-->LEDs Would that work? If not how would I do this?
