I was just kind of wondering... What is your cell phone's ringtone? What do you think would be just the most awesome ringtone?

I've noticed you can create ring tones from your favorite songs in iTunes if they were bough through the iTunes store. I'm not great with computers, so please keep it simple. :) I want to know: 1.) Will it work on any computer? 2.) Cost? 3.) How do you transfer it to a phone? 4.) Can you put the same one on multiple phones for no extra cost? 5.) How's the quality? 6.) Is it only for the iphone? Or can I use it for my T-Mobile Gravity? Thanks for your input!

Hi all, I just recently got my hands on an LG Rumour 2 (Bell Network). I was happy until I realized that I couldn't upload my customized ringtones. Is there a way for me to hack into my cell phone or work around this? I'd really like to be able to add my ringtones without paying for them.

For some reason my phone will only take MID files as ringtones, and I have many mp3 files, though it only stores those as music. is there any free way for me to convert my mp3s to MID?

Remember; the only ways this is 100% ABSOLUTELY COMPLETELY FREE ARE : #1 -- it never shows up on any bill that is made after the download. #2 -- the phone company (in my case, AT&T) never knows about it. #3 -- it says nowhere on the site a message such as "Standard carrier rates apply". i also need to access it from my RAZR's browser.

Just found this. A group of 7 people use everything from doors to windows to starter motors to make an amazing jeep techno song. The song starts off slow but then picks up at about 1:00 if you are low on time and want to skip ahead. I would recommend listening to it all though its amazing. Apparently it took two weeks of rehearsing and 7 hours to get a flawless take :O Download MP3: http://www.juliansmith.tv/2009/12/techno-jeep-mp3/ Download Ringtone ? http://www.myxer.com/ringtone:2839039/

Hello! This is my first post on this site so I hope it will be a good one! I have both a Samsung Messager and an iPod Touch 4th Gen (I'm not too sure if versions matter in this or not). The phone has a 3.5 mm TRS headphone jack with both three and four conductor capabilities and my iPod has the same. Now, this is the conundrum I am in: My phone has the capabilities to record sound one of two ways, through the built in mic or through the headset (which also has a mic). However, when I do the recording sounds garbled, static-like, and all around horrible. Would there be a way to make a direct link from my iPod to my phone through the TRS jacks? I was thinking that if I did this then the digital sound quality would be much better. Then I could play my iPod, turn on the recording feature on my phone, and easily record the songs as they play. Then I could use those recordings as ringtones. If at all possible I would not like to take apart my phone or iPod but I don't care about the headsets, I have plenty. I have experience in soldering and a bit in cicuitry. Thanks in advance!

I recently bought a Micro SD card for my phone (LG Shine II) and have put many MP3's onto it. It gives me the option to use it as a ringtone, but not as a ringback tone. Does AT&T make you purchase ringback tones, and not download them? Any info will be helpful.

Ok, everybody's got one. WHat's your most embarassing moment? You know: split your pants, threw up on a friend, toilet paper stuck to your shoe, forgot to cover a hickey- that sort of thing. I'll go first. Today at church (I'm the minister for a small congregation), I forgot and left my cellphone on. "No big deal" you say? My ringtone is David Allen Coe (a VERY "In-your-face" and "offensive in a funny sort of way" country musician). I was just finishing up Sunday school, and getting ready to give my sermon. Then the phone rang, everyone could hear..... "I was drunk, the day my mom, got out of prison...". My wife quickly hung it up (but didn't turn it off). Then it rang AGAIN!! I was looking for something to crawl under. I wanted to die! The church-members all laughed (because they know my sense of humor), but I turned red as a beet. I stepped outside, and returned the call, as we were sort of at a stopping place. I figured it must be an emergency for anyone to call me in the middle of "church". It turns out the call was a church member, who's been out of town for a couple of months wanting to wish everybody well, and see if he could listen in on part of the service. Moral of the story: Get a different ringtone!!! OK, Who's next?

I just purchased an Iphone 4S from verizon 2 days ago, it is the white model. However, the Internal Speaker will not work, and has never worked for anything: Apps, Music, Videos, Ringtones, etc. I made sure the phone was not on silent mode and the volume was up high. I thought that the headphone detection could be malfunctioning, however when in music, I set the volume to highest possible with no headphones and then plugged in my headphones and the volume bar went to the previous setting with headphones. This makes me assume that it knows to play out of the speakers. Help would be appreciated, if the solution is not fixed, I will be trading in the phone at verizon.

Hi all, If you are looking for a way to be notified when one of your instructables gets a spike in more views, I wrote couple different python command line apps for that exact purpose. The first displays a visual notification, speaks and announcement, and plays a beep whenever your tutorial gets X more views. You can customize X. The second uses email notifications instead of text to speech. The third command line app lets you customize the notification ringtone. Hope you find this useful! There'a a full tutorial here: https://www.instructables.com/id/Instructable-Hit-Announcer-Bot/

I found a busted up LG Chocolate the other day (it still turned on but it had no network or anything so I took it) and decided to take it apart and use what I could find. What I got was: -A camera -A microphone -A nice speaker (the loud one that the ringtone plays through) -A little silver circle (what is it!?) -And all of the IC's. I really want to know how I can use the camera, can anyone point me in the right direction? Also, the phone has GPS, but I doubt I'll be able to remove the module without destroying it (especially since I don't know which one it is..) And where is the vibrating motor?!

Take a look: "Normally smartphone events are tightly coupled to your phone device itself. When your cell phone is ringing, your phone speaker plays a ringtone. When you get a new text message, your phone displays it on its screen. Wouldn't it be thrilling to make thoses phone events visible somewhere else, on your wearable, in your living room, on your robot, in your office or where ever you want it to occur? Or would you like to use your smartphone sensors, like the accelerometer, light sensor, compass or your touchscreen to control other devices? 'android meets arduino' is a toolkit, basically consisting of an Android application and an Arduino library which will help you to interface with your phone in a new dimension. You can build your own interfaces almost without any programming experience. " I would love to see what kind of instructables come out of these kinds of projects! Amarino

I was at school the other day and I heard this annoying ringing sound. so I was looking around wondering what the hell it was when the teacher(who's probably 40 or 50)was like "what are you doing?" I said that I hear a ringing sound. then he said that I was crazy and there wasn't anything ringing. then the other classmates started listing and they all heard it also. I talked to that kid after class and was like where did you get that sound, and he replied its a ringtone. so when I got home I looked into it more and found out that people who are older supposevely cannot hear it so I played it for my mom and I was expecting her to hear nothing and then she was like "turn that annoying sound off right now". I was like wow........how did you hear it. everybody says she has super human hearing. here is the link to test it out. http://odeo.com/audio/1329298/view
