Has anybody hacked a robosapien? i have recently procured one without r/c and was wondering if there are any serviceable parts (servos, boards, processors) or is it something better suited for the e-waste grinder.

Ive recently found some different hacks for wowwee's Robosapien and these have inspired me to dig out my old one and see what i could do. One thing i want to start with is controlling it with maybe an app on my android, ive found a few different websites with different ways to go about this but none was what i wanted. Ive found these two projects ( here and here) and i wondering if anyone could help me bridge the two (the coding still gives me a headache), of if you have a different way to go about it. Thanks in advance

It gives you an insight into micro controller and what goes into the making of an embedded system. This duration specific program has been introduced as a result of popular demand from participants of our previous programs. We fell proud to present you with this unique internship variation which will not only change the perception of an internship but will also improve its credibility and efficiency. The course outline is as follows:Course Outline:- ââ¬Â¢ Embedded System Design and Robotics: An Introductionââ¬Â¢ Microcontrollers & their Architectureââ¬Â¢ Introduction to Embedded C Programming ââ¬Â¢ Interfacing of peripherals to Microcontrollers ââ¬Â¢ Project Building ââ¬Â¢ Introduction to concepts of RTOSThis course includes the Free Embedded system SDK to all participants. Why this course is a ââ¬Ëmustââ¬â¢?So why should a student go for STIP. We think the following summarizes the plethora of reasons why STIP is a dream for every embedded system and robotics enthusiast:ââ¬Â¢ Embedded System is best understood by applying it in robotics.ââ¬Â¢ Robotics and Embedded systems have a lot of scope in college projects.ââ¬Â¢ The AVR series that we will be using is the most commonly employed series for micro controller at both academic and industrial level.ââ¬Â¢ A participant gets to learn and apply Embedded C programming which is the main programming language for embedded systems with resource constraints. ââ¬Â¢ This is the best way to get to know other robotics enthusiast around the country. ââ¬Â¢ One gets to be in touch with the most talented and experienced professionals in this area of academics and interact with them.STIP benefits in a nutshell:ââ¬Â¢ Exhaustive training with extensive guidance by our panel of experts.ââ¬Â¢ The project based completion of curriculum with both theory classes and hands on sessions.ââ¬Â¢ One can also buy development boards and other robot parts that weââ¬â¢ll use throughout the program.ââ¬Â¢ Certification by IIT Guwahati; Technicheââ¬â¢ 09.ââ¬Â¢ Accommodation facility for participants coming from far away locales.Free Embedded system SDK kit includes :ââ¬Â¢ AVR series microcontroller Based Reserach plateform.ââ¬Â¢ 1 Atmega 16 Microcontroller.ââ¬Â¢ AVR series Universal Programmer.ââ¬Â¢ Connecting cables.ââ¬Â¢ 1 LCD display.ââ¬Â¢ Robosapiens india AVR Loader v1.0 Beta software package.Certification by Techniche'09 IIT-Guwahati and Robosapiens India.Robosapiens India ties up with Techniche'09 India Institute of Technology. All the participants will get a valid Certificate from us.STIP Program cost includes:ââ¬Â¢ Two weeks instructor led exhaustive training.ââ¬Â¢ Two weeks of industry defined, project work.ââ¬Â¢ Take away Embedded system SDK Kit.ââ¬Â¢ Post Training assistance for Project work.ââ¬Â¢ Accommodation assistance.Course Curriculum Details :Embedded System Design: An Introduction Introduction to micro controller is the first step to know about embedded systems. What is a micro controller? Whatââ¬â¢s inside it? What makes it an embedded system? What are the different families of microcontroller, its derivatives and its applications in industrial projects? Why AVR is the most widely used micro controller family? What goes into designing an embedded system? Its criteria and handling resource constraints.Introduction to Microcontrollers and AVR Architecture This session includes introduction to the AVR series of micro controller, especially ATMega16, which we will be using in our program.Introduction to ATMega16 features viz. ââ¬Â¢ I/O Ports. ââ¬Â¢ Data Registersââ¬Â¢ Interrupts. ââ¬Â¢ Timer/Counter. ââ¬Â¢ External/Internal clocksââ¬Â¢ ADC (Analog to Digital Conversion using ATMega16). This session is for familiarization with various functional blocks of the microcontrollers and knowing the inside story of it. So, if you've seen the movie Real Steel you know what i'm talking about. Real Steel is boxing, fighting and wrestling humanoid robots. I posted this contest because I wanted to see how many people can make a humanoid that works, or modify a humanoid hat you can buy. Zibits, mini robots (about 3 in. tall), are pretty cool, saying that they only go forward, or 360 degrees. You can hack em, fight em and play with them. Also, WOWWEE makes really cool humanoids to hack into, for example Full sized Robosapien and Femisapien. Tri-BOIT and Robo-ROVER. Post an Instructable with a video if you want to, and please make a step by step guide on how to make your battle bot. If you make it from scratch you have a higher chance of winning, if you hack a ZIbit or make a mini robot you might win the mini battle bot contest. Wowwee toys are big so those are the big robot humanoid contest. Be creative and express your ideas, and remember you always have a great chance of winning. The naming of the robot types were just an example of cheap stuff you can find in most stores, use whatever you'd like to make the ultimate humanoid robot contest. If there are a lot of people there will be one , to three, maybe five winners, if there are less than 10, there will be multiple winner depending on size, type and what they do, but there will always be one grand prize winner. Enjoy! Contest ends when I want it to.
