Hi I live in South Africa, and checking Lifehacker and Instructables I get no joy on searches with either of these terms, I am wondering if you States siders have them?

Not too long ago, I saw a WONDERFUL RODENT "TRAP" from not too long ago.... It used a 5-gallon bucket with anti-freeze (coolant) at the bottom, and a ROD going through close to the to to of the bucket. A ROD ran through the two top holes, and a small "coke" bottle was hung OVER the bucket (how attached) and the bottle was 'GREASED' or baited with peanut butter, or other stuff RATS like. A stick (ramp) board led to the top of the bucket - turns out, the creature in question would go for bait, the center rod would spin, dumping him in the fatal coolant. Here in Florida, we have a screen porch that has entries and exits for our FRIENDLY critters (birds, squirrels) but I think this guy (BIG ONE) lives in our foliage. WE DON'T like him... Can you direct me to it? Thanks - Brian

Chuffy and his Time Machine, Chuffy (mouse) sits in the little carriage on top of the Time Machine (guinea pig). He is having some mechanical problems getting it started, so the hatch on the side of the Guinea pig is open to reveal vintage clockwork cogs that make the Time Machine work, when it hasn't broken down anyway! Apparently, the donor animals are all natural deaths, including gifts from the maker's cat.

Okay, so we've got critters in our attic...Probably Wolf Rats or something....I've tried using a large bucket with a board ramp. On top of the bucket I've got a towel laid across the top. For bait, I've used bread with peanut butter. My trap idea just doesn't seem to work.... The animals steal the bread without fallin' in ! They're smart .... Any other ideas? Thanks! :)

I was going to go off topic on an I'ble, but thought the question would be better asked in the forums. I have always wondered if the plural of mouse (as in the one connected to your PC) is the same as the plural of mouse as in the rodent (or favourite cartoon character). I think that the PC mouse is named after the rodent because of the physical similarity, but does that mean that they are the same? Plural of mouse (rodent), is mice. Plural of mouse (PC), mice or mouses? What are your thoughts? N.B. I have been drinking.

I've seen ads for pest control units that transmit some sort of signal that drives bugs &rodents away... friend had one & she didn't even get flies... but not sure which ones really work, and so expensive..... Would love to find a DIY Instructable on this! It would save money, the environment...etc...

I'm making a chinchilla cage and need to know if the following can be used in it. I have researched and I know that the chinchilla likes to gnaw or chew everything in the cage. MDF wood? Paracord? Any fabrics? Any other woods? Plexiglass? Thanks!

The Benefits of Pets in general should not be minimized. No, this is NOT a plug for my contest entry, but a plea to go look at the Pet contest, and consider the benefits of pets (especially rodent pets), if you do not have one as an extended member of your family. A few pet benefits.

Nothing seems to deter squirrels, but I noticed they can be kept somewhat at bay with thorns from blackberrys or rose bushes. but as the canes dry the thorns fall off and they can be moved out of the way
I'm doing a project for the local pet shop - or I think I am. The owner hasn't agreed or disagreed yet. I need a lot of toy ideas for all kinds of rodents, birds, fish, reptiles, kittens, and puppies. PLEASE HELP ME!!!! Thanks SO MUCH!!!

Alright I have a real problem.A whole community of groundhogs has just made its home in my dams retaining wall. I have counted around five separate holes in the wall and have tried to smoke them out with around 5 separate smoke grenades, but apparently the tunnel system is much like the Viet Cong and are just to vast. I need to nail these rodents ASAP before they break through. Any help would be great thanks.

Ok, so I went to take my hamster out of his cage, after 3 days of rest. When I lifted him up, he turned his head. On his left eye was a big black thing covering his eye socket. I thought it was bedding, or food stuck in it. So, I take him to petsmart. They DO NOT WORK ON RODENTS. Are you kidding me, I bought him here. So we get home, and I take him out of his ball. I notice the black stuff is gone. It was his eye. Oh my god. It was so gross. What should I do after I clean it.

O_O Check out this giant pitcher plant from the Phillipines. You've heard of venus flytraps? Regular pitcher plants? Small fry compared to this behemoth. Nepenthes attenboroughii (named after Sir David Attenborough) is way bigger than those relatively tame plants, and dissolves its prey with "acid-like enzymes". From the article: "The plant is among the largest of all pitchers and is believed to be the largest meat-eating shrub, dissolving rats with acid-like enzymes.">Whimper<Call me cowardly, but I get the willies when we start discovering plants that can eat small rodents...who knows what else is out there in the as-yet-unexplored areas of the jungle...Link

Hi, I'm trying to save up for a puppy, and i need a TON of money, of course, if i want to make SURE I can take good care of it. I'm told i will need maybe 3 or 4 years before I have enough, i want at LEAST $4,050 before i feel safe getting one, anyway, (some of it is for in case of an emergancey) I am getting a shelter dog, of course, and I KNOW all that stuff about "big responsibility" trust me, i am doing a ton of research on this, and i have a rodent, too. I am looking for a way to earn money FAST, and it cant be proffesional, or "adult's" jobs, im only 13, so i can't, and no pet sitting or baby sitting, can anyone tell me any crafts or something like that that I can make and sell? Serious answers please, Thank you

Must be bad karma for the new year but both my mouse and my keyboard are playing games with me on the PC. Of course they are wireless, mouse is a Logitech, keyboard some very old Aldi brand. After many years of good service they started to fail at the same time. And yes, I tried fresh batteries several times with no luck ;) Here are the current symptoms: 1. Keyboard Randomly keys I press fail to show up although the blinking on the receiver indicates an action was received. When typing a bit faster, and for me that is the two-finger-best-hope method a lot gets lost. My speed is slow enough to make a bad typist laugh in tears LOL In some rare cases I also get totally wrong results, usually somethe graphical character that otherwise need and ascii input to appear. 2. Mouse At times when the keyboard plays up the little rodent does the same. Here it means the pointer disappears or moves in jumps. Also mouse clicks on let's say a tab in the bowser often grab the tab or are not registered at all. It is now starting to annoy me, mainly bcause I failed to rectify this problem in any good way. Only system change in or before the problems started was the usual Windows 7 monthly update, but that came about a week before it all started. To make things worse the mouse uses Logitechs old wireles tech while the keyboard is in a totally different frequency and as said dirt cheap. I also fail to replicate the problem consistently or find a common cause. Funny thing: If used on my old Nexus tablet both perform just fine even from over 5m away. Would love to hear some thoughts on things to try or check... But so you know: Tried the drivers, different ports relocating the receivers and even a rollback of Windows to a state from Nov last year. Everything else connected to the USB ports performs fine. Am at the stage where I even accept weird things to try, so fire up please!
