getting money sooner?

Hi, I'm trying to save up for a puppy, and i need a TON of money, of course, if i want to make SURE I can take good care of it. I'm told i will need maybe 3 or 4 years before I have enough, i want at LEAST $4,050 before i feel safe getting one, anyway, (some of it is for in case of an emergancey) I am getting a shelter dog, of course, and I KNOW all that stuff about "big responsibility" trust me, i am doing a ton of research on this, and i have a rodent, too. I am looking for a way to earn money FAST, and it cant be proffesional, or "adult's"  jobs, im only 13, so i can't, and no pet sitting or baby sitting, can anyone tell me any crafts or something like that that I can make and sell? Serious answers please, Thank you

What can I do to save money while building a PC? Answered

I am a bit of a gamer and I love my xbox 360 but people keep telling me that PC gaming is a million times better. I have bought PC games before and i have a small collection of games from my childhood including worms fortress, thief one and two and Diablo one and two with expansion packs. I have very little income, but I do plan on getting a job soon and saving some money and one of the things I would like to do is build a custom PC so that I can play my games. I dont need the best stuff, just good enough to play old games as I'm not going to pay over $50 for a game. I have never built a PC before and I know very little about hardware, but I have a friend that can help. So does anyone have any ideas on how to cut corners while building this? I would also like to build a case for it so any gaming case ideas will also help. P.S. I'm in South Australia, so I may not have access to some stuff.

Swap Search Engine - Save Rainforest's

Http://ecosia.org/ This website is a search engine just like Google or Bing, However this website saves the planet Search engines like Google place relevant ads alongside the search results, when you click these links the company earns money. To power these searches the company must have massive servers which consume vast amounts of energy and produce a lot of CO2. Now, When you search using Ecosia you can save 2m2 of rainforest per search, this is because Ecosia donates 80% of their profits to the WWF. The WWF work in places like south america protecting rainforests and their inhabitants. Also Ecosia's servers run on 100% green energy, this means they don't release any CO2 and help to reduce climate change. "Ecosia is an independent, non-profit website. At least 80% of our search income goes to a rainforest protection program run by WWF, which uses this money for the sustainable protection of rainforests." I admit it, when I first saw this I thought "nice idea, the search will be rubbish though" BUT i spent about 15 minutes comparing search results with google and bing, trying to find news articles or products and I found that the search engine is actually really good, it sometimes had even better results. You dont have to go to the website every time you want to search, you can install the search box in you browser, it's not a stupid toolbar, it just goes where your google box is now. Here are some stats Total Rainforest Saved rainforest area that has so far been saved by your searches 6,208,793 yd² Total Incoming Searches number of searches so far conducted with ecosia 2,629,518 Saved Rainforest Per Search the average rainforest area saved by one search 2.36 yd² Active Ecosia Users people who have accessed ecosia within the last 24h 27,256 WATCH THIS VIDEO, it explains everything in more detail and has more stats.  :) Frequently Asked Questions; http://ecosia.org/faq.php Search; http://ecosia.org/ Install search-box; http://ecosia.org/install.php So, if you can, switch to Ecosia, Its just as good searching and they are supporting a fantastic cause /eco-warrior

Is anything a "must save" off a junked electric stove? Answered

Replacing my old coiltop electric range (might be repairable, but I'd rather put the money into something I'll like better).  The old one's just going to be hauled away. A friend has requested the oven racks, and the new range comes with its own power cord, so the 220V cord is of dubious value and likely to just take up space... is there anything else that might actually be worth the effort of removing? (I suppose I could save the control panel and see if I can get its relays set up to control something else, but that requires figuring out what voltage it actually requires and I'm not sure it's worth the effort. Especially since the controls are what failed. Probably just a stuck relay, but...)

Cleaning the oil for a vacuum pump

Was too lazy to do an Instructable about it and think a lot of pics or even videos won't help much if you know what I mean ;) Some of us use rotary vane pumps not for the purpose of evacuating refrigeration systems but for all sorts of fun and experiments. This means quite soon or often we face the problem of the oil taking in a lot of water or even worse particles and solvent fumes. I don't know about you but I was getting sick and tired of replacing the expensive oil every few weeks or sometimes even days if something got too wrong. There are many different blends of compressor oil out there that will work very well in our rotary vane pumps. The main difference is whyt the oil is designed for. Some are perfect for aircon systems, others for the work with solvent fumes and there are even those special oils that bind moisture. Unless you really need to evacuted special gases or solvents basically any low viscosity oil will do us just fine! So instead of paying 20 bucks for special compressor or even vacuum pump oil we can select the cheap everyday oil. Well, not exactly... We also want to be able to recycle our oil to save even more money. That means we don't want an oil that binds to water to keep it out of harms way. We also don't want any oil that has special coating abilities for example these oils claiming to reduce wear and tear on your engine. But any other low viscosity mineral oil or if you prefer synthetic oil will do - just stay away from silicone based oils!! If you have not used your pump for a few days you can often see a slude at the bottom of the viewing glass. If the rest of the oil is clear you can simply drain this worst bit and top up with fresh oil if required. This simple procedure saves you a lot of oil already, at least if your pump has some rest every now and then. Once your oil looks wasted it is time for the recycling and cleaning: Release the oil into a high glass jar or these facy spaghetti glasses. Fill with fresh oil and give it a short run. Release this oil as well and wait for it to properly drain. You now have the inside of your pump nice and clean again, time to fill one last time with fresh oil to keep using the pump. The filthy oil we now have in our jar should be covered with some fine cloth or filter paper and placed somewhere warm. After a week or two the oil, filth and water will have seperated and you pump, drain or siphon out the now clean oil for further use. Don't be too exact here trying to get all the oil out, just remove what you can without risking to suck in the filth from the bottom. Simply leave the rest in the jar and add the next oil change to it for the same recycling process. Solvents.... In some cases we will work with solvents and that means the oil might bind to them. Acetone for example is quite nasty here and can change the oil itself by breaking down certain components. In most cases it means the viscosity will be reduced, which is not really too bad for us. What is bad however is the fact that these solvents often refuse to fully seperate or evaporate. Once the oil looks clean do a smell test and if it smells like solvent then for sure there is solvent in it. Next step to confirm is to do a lube test. Simply place on some smooth metal or glass and smear it with your finger - a drop is enough here. If it feels sticky on the surface, gives you a rubber like feeling when sliding over the surface or is far less "slippery" than the fresh oil you also have a problem. I found that filling this contaminated oil into a proper container and applying a strong vacuum will remove all solvent residue in a very short time. Downside is that the oil in the pump is contaminated again, so it pays off to collect solvent contaminated oil seperately and once you got enough for several refills use the pump to get rid of the solvent. When done do another smear and smell test, if still smelly repeat if no longer smelly but still the same bad feeling on the surface: Discard as the oil might be broken down by the solvent.

Ugh I need help with buying stuff... No it's not about getting the money.

So I worked some odd jobs and saved up enough cash to buy a T-shirt that I've really wanted to buy.  However, it's only available online, and I only have dollar bills.   The problem is that I need a credit card of sorts to buy stuff online, and I can't get a card at the bank due to the fact that I'm a minor according to my bank. Mom says she won't let me use her card unless I do some more work for her (WTF?), just using it and then giving the cash to her to reimburse isn't good enough.  The site I wish to buy from does not have any giftcards or any store cards or anything like that. Any ideas?

You can help save a rare frog from extinction!

First off, I realize instructables does not want pure advertising on their site through these forms. The voting is optional and I don't want this to be viewed as advertisement. If nothing else, I want to share with you our story in the project, and hopefully you'll see how awesome this is. We are doing something that no high school has ever achieved before, and I think it's more relevant to the site than some re-posting of a blog article. I hope that you take a few minutes and find out what the Frog Project is all about! Want to support the cause of helping endangered species, education, and advancing biotech in schools? Well, take 5 minutes and vote for our school to convince Khols' to give us 1/2 million $$! Unfortunately the contest is over, but we're going to go for a $250,000 grant for a Pepsi contest in November. If you become a fan of our page (noted below) you'll be updated. Check back in November! https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-AAEC-Frog-Project/128763967175416 ======================================================== Not convinced? Well, here's our story: You can help save a rare frog from extinction, and it is free! Kohls the dept. store is donating $500,000 to the 20 schools with the most creative need for the money. Your vote can help our school win this money, and best of all it costs you nothing! We are working on a project to try and save a rare frog from extinction. And we need the cash. At our small high school of 300 students, we are trying to completely sequence the genome of a rare Arizona frog. We hope to accomplish 2 things from this work. 1) We hope to rescue this frog from extinction. 2) We hope to train a new generation of students in modern biotechnology, and rescue the State of Arizona from last place in quality of education in the United States. The Chiricahua Leopard frog is currently listed as a threatened species. We have been working in conjunction with the Phoenix Zoo and Arizona Game and Fish to develop a genetic test that could aid in conservation efforts. We have already spent a year working on the sequence of the mitochondrial chromosome of this frog. Our school actually owns a DNA sequencer. We have made pioneering efforts in the design of genetic tests for this frog. Our students have presented 5 posters on our work at the International Plant and Animal Genome conference (PAG), quite an achievement for a high school. Our project was recently awarded one of only three heritage grants: http://www.gf.state.az.us/w_c/heritage_projects.shtml By the way, the other two Heritage grants were awarded to Arizona State University and Northern Arizona University. What we really wish to do is completely sequence every chromosome in this frog. This is a very ambitious project. Consider that the human genome project completed in 2003, cost $3 billion dollars and took 13 years. Our leopard frog is estimated to contain twice as much DNA as humans! However, we think that with appropriate funding, and new technology that has recently become available we can accomplish this task in 2 years! We wish to construct what are called “DNA libraries”, collections of broken chromosome fragments of known sizes. These can be sequenced quickly using NEXT generation sequencing technology. The Chinese genomic group BGI has agreed to cover the costs of NEXT generation sequencing, and genome assembly for our project (an estimated $1 million) if our school can come up with the remaining funds needed for the construction of the libraries. We need to purchase about $200,000 in new equipment, and extend our existing lab space. With the completed genome sequence, we would like to have a custom “gene chip” manufactured. This chip will have all the DNA of the frog physically printed on it. The chip allows experiments to be carried out without any harm to any frog. This chip could then be used to aid conservation efforts by the Phoenix Zoo and Arizona Game & Fish. It could allow the exact parentage of every Chiricahua frog that is discovered to be known. Eventually this technology will become the backbone of conservation work on all species, but at this early stage it is not possible for Arizona Game & Fish to raise the funds needed to generate a gene chip before it is too late for the frog. Our school hopes to be the first in history to carry out a genome project. We hope this will serve as a guiding light to other schools, and start a grass-roots movement in the conservation and education world. Help us save our frog! Here is the catch. Vote for us on Facebook, and convince all your friends to do the same (forward this message to them), or unfortunately the frog bites it! Everybody can vote up to 5 times for us. In this way YOU can help make the difference not only for this rare species, but if we can succeed you will help pave the way to help many others. https://apps.facebook.com/KohlsCares/school/32741/aaec-paradise-valley Regards, -Mike Dr. Mike Brown Science Dept. AVR Dragon vs USBtiny on Mac?

I am trying to decide between buying an AVR Dragon and a USBtiny. The USBtiny seems nice and simple, but the AVR Dragon has more features. Do the extra features of the AVR Dragon work on a Mac, or should I just save the money and buy the USBtiny?

Creative Electrician or Consultant Wanted for Short-Term Project (Good money.)

I'm the owner of a 3-story commercial building in New York City. I basically have 2 tenants: One using the ground floor and basement, the other using the 2nd and 3rd floors. I am trying to sub-meter the electrical use of each tenant so they can pay for their own usage (and have an incentive to conserve). For the last several months I have been interviewing licensed electricians. Apparently, though there are two separate fuse boxes (It's an old building.) they each have both upstairs and downstairs circuits mixed up in them. This, I have been told, will make sub-metering a more complicated and expensive job than it should be (potentially over 5 figures.) as it will involve rewiring. Now, in my experience, most licensed electricians think Arduino is a kind of pasta. They are not hackers, not creative, and never look for unconventional solutions to solving problems. (I'm not knocking the guys, but this is what joining the rat race for survival does to people--especially in NYC.) It never even occurred to me that there might be an unconventional solution to my problem until I spotted this 'ible. If you: Have the skills to implement an adaption of this set-up, or have a proposal of your own as to how to solve my problem; are close to New York; and would be willing to consult with a licensed electrician and myself, you may very well be able to save me $5k or $6k, 60% of which would go to you if the plan was adopted and worked. (Otherwise I'd still compensate you for your time at a rate we both agree in advance to be fair.) Anyone interested please PM me.  Thanks. PS I don't think of myself as a businessman or landlord. I inherited the building, would sell it in a heartbeat if my brother (who I co-own it with) let me, and I'd rather be writing and making stuff out things I find dumpster-diving than collecting rent checks. But since I'm currently stuck in the role, I'm trying to make the building as green as I can.

How to bring more light into the hallway by cutting panels into interior doors and installing frosted acrylic panels? Answered

Three hallway doors with large amount of outside light coming in. I want to bring that light into the hallways by installing frosted acrylic or pelixiglass panels in the doors. Rather than buy pre-made doors, I want to use the existing doors, save money and save landfills.

Looking for homemade candy recipes!!!! Answered

Me and my friends are looking for some extra money and decided that we were going to try to sell some homemade candy. We are looking for some easy-ish recipes, but we are willing to try some harder ones too. We are on a pretty (very) low budget. Maybe $25 or so. So, if you know any recipes personally, or the URL's to some other recipes online, please include them in your answer. Alternatively, you could private message your recipes and info to me on YouTube. My channel is TNTutorials. Please do your best to contribute. We are doing our best to save up money for some personal goals, and the civilians in my neighborhood are candy heads, so we thought that this should work. Please take this seriously, and try to contribute! Thanks!!!
