Scooter Help

I want to Build a Electric scooter trike. I need ideas for motors and batteries to run the scooter/trike. any suggestions are greatly appreciated.  I also wanted to know if I have two wheels in the rear and on in front and attach the drive mechanism to the back right wheel will I go straight or in circles? mobility scooter

I have a walkabout 330 mobility scooter i have cut some wires and now i'm lost and they didn't make a manual for them and can i eliminate a lot of things like lights horn etc i only use it for golf  but i can't walk the course and i was wondering could and how to wire it in the simplest way to get it going ???  i'm really lost and confused any way to hot wire it maybe ???? Does anyone have a PDF on making a motorized scooter that has 3 decent sized wheels, not those dumb skateboard wheels?

I'm rather large and I figure that multiple wheels and a larger diameter would spread the weight distribution better.? I'm also on an extremely tight budget (read, I need to be able to scrounge materials for free), and have limited tools.

Mobility Scooter Control?

I am looking to power a kart with a mobility scooter motor and transaxel. The motor controls start at about £135, but you can get just the pot for about £30. I'm only going forward, so do I need the entire controller, or will just the pot do the job?

Flame-throwing scooter

Gotta love this so-not-street-legal mod to a scooter that shoots 15-foot flames out the back. Just a push of the button and WHOOSH! I really want to get a cheap scooter or moped... Mainly because most get around 100 mpg!!! But idk where to get one that cheap. All of the ones ive seen on craiglist and such are newer and well over a thousand which, in my financial state now is just too much. Any suggesestions on where i could get one?thanks!

DIY Gas Scooter? Answered

I was thinking of taking a weed whacker and taking the pole off, taking the motor, put it on a chain drive system to the back wheel. I have two questions about this. First, will the motor have enough torque to pull a 130 lb. guy, and is there a transmission system I have to over come.

Mobility scooter maintenance

I have a Monarch Ryder mobility scooter and I need to occasionally pump up the tyres. The problem is that I live by myself and it is very painful for me to bend down low enough to attach the hose to the tyres in order to pump them up. I have been going to my local garage and they have done it for me so far, but I want to be able to do it myself. I have considered investing in a ramp but I have no way of supporting the top end. I did think of getting solid tyres that never need air, but I've been told that this would make the ride very painful for me as every bump would be amplified. Is there any sort of long hose I could permanently attach to each tyre that I could secure higher up on the scooter when I am not using it? Does anyone have any other ideas?

I recently saw an electric 3 wheel motor scooter that looked like a cross between a Roman chariot and a Segway. The driver could only stand while riding and moved at about 10 mph. The chassis looked like it came from one of those senior citizen scooters, the tires looked like boys' 15 inch street bicycle wheels. It had a headlight and taillights along with a trailer hitch.  My question is does anyone have the plans or at the very least pictures of something similar?

freewheel for micro scooter wheels

Is it possible to make or source some kind of freewheel and sprocket device for a wheel of around 80 - 100mm diameter? i've googled a bit and found micro folding bikes with similar sized wheels but i haven't found replacement parts listed for them, the closest thing i have found is parts for rockboard scooters but rear wheel assemblies cost $80 each which seems a bit steep...

Motorbike starter motor on a Scooter?

Hello! I changed the starter motor on my bike some years ago, and this motor is laying around in my garage since then, working! I always wanted to build an electric vehicle, and i would like to start with an electric scooter! My questions are:  1. Would the motor work and run on a scooter? 2. how much would the battery last? I plan to use a normal motorbike battery, i dont know much in electronics, they are 12V and 10-70Ah 3. will the motor heat up and burn? 4. what range would it have? Help with 33cc Gas Scooter? Answered

I have a 33cc gas scooter (sounds nerdy, I know), on the side I can make out what looks like Moto Rebel but not sure. It was used twice, sat in garage for one year without gas in the tank, then sold to me for $20 (Amazing price for something that's $350 new). Like new! It is 2-stroke but am unsure of the model number. It starts runs on choke between a small margin but won't run on ON, which is above choke on the switch. I think it may need the idle screws adjusted but am unsure. Has new and correct gas oil mix in tank and has primer button. Help would be appreciated.

low power razor scooter

So I was riding my small razor scooter to school (the kinds that fold up and fit in a backpack) and thought "it would be really cool to make this thing run with a motor." After I got home, I looked at it and thought of a way to make it work. If you put a small rubber piece on the end of the motor and lay that against the wheel right behind the break with some pressure, you could probably make it go pretty fast. The thing I was wondering is what is the smallest motor I could use and still have it work at about the same speed as me pushing with my foot on the road? 50 watts or so? I only weigh 125 pounds and would like it to work with 150.any suggestions? I would like to not have to use a car battery, with all the balance issues and such.

50cc Chinese scooter problems? Answered

I have a 2001 Chinese scooter, 50cc, and it has some problems... We took the handlebars off to fit it in a vehicle for transport (Yeah, stupid idea, I know now...), and now, the wiring is all messed up. First off, the electric start won't work anymore, I'm going to go through, and check a relay and the battery voltage tomorrow. Second, when I kick start it, and yes, It'll kick start, but only after 50 some kicks.. But when I kick start it, the engine starts going full throttle, but the throttle is not twisted at all. Throttle cable problem? Lastly, the turn signals are messed up a bit. The right blinker flashes one of the headlights inside of the blinker.... What the hell? All the wires are connected correctly. Please help!! Thanks!

Replacing motor in mobility scooter?

Hey all, I have a mobility scooter that I use for travel(caravaning among other). It's an Eloped Travel XL(40 kg or 88 lbs, 24V 22Ah battery), and I think it's only available in Sweden, but there are similar models all over the world.My scooter has got a 180w, 24v motor on a transaxle with integrated gearbox. The more I use it, the more frustrated I get. It's slow, 4mph/7 km/h, but worse, it really struggles uphill and sometimes it feels like its gonna stop all together. I've changed the batteries, with no improvement. It's not overheating. My guess is that it's just to weak. It might be ok to use when going to the shop or on flat surfaces, but not on gravel or grass.Anyway, I would like to replace the motor with a more powerful one, 350w or even 500w. The problem is that there isn't any compatible motors out there, so I'm guessing I'll have to replace the hole axle. I've been looking at these common China made electric motors that come in a range of sizes, have no idea about the quality though. Otherwise, maybe a powerful RC engine would work? I have no idea really, where to begin. Money is a concern unfortunately, otherwise I could buy a new transaxle or even a new, better scooter. Any ideas or help would be very appreciated! I'm quite handy but have never worked with these kind of parts before. How to pick the right sprockets, should I use chain or belt drive and so on.

Generator from scooter motor

This project came about because someone cut the power line going to my house. The power company was slow to fix it, so I cobbled together a way to charge auto batteries for my invertor. The generator is the motor from a discarded electric scooter ( model MY1016 from JX Motor Co., rated 24v input and 2750 rpm). I removed the motor, it’s drive chain, and sprocket wheel and attached it to the frame of a discarded bike. The pictures show the details. By cranking furiously, I can charge a 12v battery with about 3/4 amp of current. There is a small epoxy rectifier to block the battery from driving the motor. This thing was made from parts on hand and cost me only the assembly time. I don’t have any sources or price lists.

So, which Type of sensor's is in scooter's speedometer. i've got a bunch of wires i've identefied all of them, only 2 are left, which one connected to a voltameter shows no hike in voltage when scooter is moving...... so which type of sensor is that.

My wife and I are moving to a new house that has a hidden driveway on a bend of a busy road that obscures our visibility as we exit. We are avid cyclists and ride around town on scooters, too. Does someone have a suggestion on a remote activated light system that could call drivers' attention to the driveway as we pull out? We have multiple lights on our bikes, but nevertheless, I'd like to enhance the safety of exiting. My only thought was to hook up some sort of lights to a darkroom timer and activate it for two minutes as we leave, but that would require burying a cable in pvc as far as I could tell, and the driveway is long. In short, it would be super inconvenient. What would be ideal is a remote activated flashing light set on one or both sides of the driveway, powered by battery that activated by the remote and turned off after a short period of time. Any suggestions on products or designs would be appreciated.

I put a new carb, on my scooter i put new gas mix in. i try to start it .it allmost starts but wont stay running.i messed with the adjustment screw on the carb, now i dont know where a good spot is for the screw  to get it to run.and what should the sparkplug gap be??

Hi guys, I recently a scooter for free on the side of the road. It is one of those sit down grandparent's motorized chair. Since I am have no other use for it, I am planning on making some bada55 scooter from he11. It is electric, and made by a company called "guardian". Oh, and it still works, I'm just not sure of the battery life. Has anyone ever messed around with one before? Modifying my scooter for charging a battery?

I have a Scooter and now i have added a battery within it. I charge the battery externally, but lately i have seen that the lights that i keep on in the night (halogens lights) tend to fade away after 30 min or so and gone. Now i want to charge the battery while on the move. I tried doing so through the coils that were in the scooter by adding a rectifier circuit it works but the head light goes dim, and this idea didn't work out for me. But now i am planning to buy an external alternator and modify my scooter to charge the battery. Is it possible and if so what is the type of alternator i should use and the Amp ratings. My battery is a lead Acid Battery. Thanks in advance

How to build an electric mobility scooter?

I'd really like to build an electric mobility scooter similar to one of the Rascals or even the Walmart buggies for my mother.  I keep thinking I can't be the only one that has ever considered this but I can't seem to find much.  I don't suppose anyone would want to make an instructable on this particular project?  I may try and tackle it myself and post an instructable, its just that there are pieces of the puzzle I'm not quite sure about.

Mobility scooter charging batteries `unassembled` Answered

I have just bought a Mercury Neo6 Mobility scooter for my wife to use while away in our motorhome as she can not walk far unaided. I have to disassemble the MS to carry in the MH. Knowing the batteries require charging on a regular basis & the fact that carrying the MS to & from the home to charge is heavy to say the least & then reassemble, Is there a way I can make up a charging lead so only the batteries need to be takes to the home. Our house is a short distance from the MH & I'm not getting any younger. I understand from the manufactures a standard battery charger should not be used direct. I do have the power pack. In layman terms can anyone explain how to so. Appreciate.

what to do with most of a 36v scooter?

So i rescued this 36v 500w electric scooter from the trash. the charger with it was broken so i scored one off ebay for $9. i charged it up and it actually worked but for the most part was useless to me as it was too slow for me but at the same time too fast and unstable for my kids. so it sat next to my house for several months and when i charged it up today and turned it on the speed control burnt up(ants had built a nest inside and shorted it). so now i have everything else which is still good(motor, batteries, frame and wheels etc) and seems a shame to waste it. i could buy a new speed control off ebay for $25 but like i said it wasnt very useful as it was. any ideas for what to use these parts for without a speed controller? some thoughts i had were electric bike or electric mower. i also have some powerwheels laying around just begging to be hot rodded. also if anyone in the charlotte nc area can have it if you promise to build something cool out of it.
