I got a palm m100off the internet and I put it in my pocket then later I took it out there was a small scratch 1 cm long with a few bumps around it (the scratches were raised). what is the best way to remove scratches on the cheap side.when you run the stylus over the bump (you can notis this in note pad) it jumps and is anyoing. Any help will be great.

A few years ago I got my first x-acto knife. Of course, me being 12 years old I started cutting without thinking of consequences. Now My desk is all scratched up... There are also some Ferric chloride stains on the desk and I may have spilled some superglue on it, too. My desk is made of wood and has a shiny white layer over it, picture's down there Now here is my question: Is it possible to remove the scratches? By painting it or putting a layer of x over it? If not, how can I get the scratches to be less noticable? And how do I remove superglue and Fe(III)Cl stains?

I have spent a great deal of time working on this question yet, I have no solid answer to go on.  I tend to enjoy acquiring a skill set which would be very useful come TEOTWAWKI (the end of the world as we know it).  I am far from a prepper, however I still entertain a slight possibility and see no problem with learning how to do a little more than cope. These skills extend from knowing where to grow, gather, and how to store penicillin to simple things like a yeast starter 100% from scratch.  Brewing and distilling are also handy because it makes a great trade item.  These are all things you never see in the Walking Dead or any other TEOTWAWKI cinema.  One of the more important skills I believe would be conjuring fortress walls from rocks in the form of a little thing we know as concrete which we all take for granted.  Now I could mix portland cement and filler with some water all day long and make a pretty cool fortess, but seriously.  All the home depots in my state wouldn't have enough quick rite for that.  So today I wan't to know what general rocks and minerals (that you can find in nature) can you combine to make cement.  I know there are all kinds of fancy names for these, but what I really need is some good old generalities.  Tell me to go outside grab a handful of clayish dirt, but it in a kiln with some lime and grind it up.  I'm not looking for top of the line stuff here, this just needs to be able to hold a general form for a few years and be a little bullet resistant.  This is for a crude fort, not the tallest building in the world or the hoover dam.  A simple mortar would also be nice, although there really aren't any stones around to put together, bricks aren't super hard to make with as much clay as we have in our soil. So join me and maybe I will put together an instructible on all the skills you actually need but don't have!

I have scratches on my glass table top (coffee table).  Some are quite noticeable, but most are normal wear and tear and only show when sunshine hits the table.  I there a way to restore the luster of the top?

Hi, An electrician put a five gal. pail with tools on the tub surround and put surface scratches on it. The surface is polished to a shiny sheen.The marble co. I asked about the repair said they'd send a 2 man crew-I don't need the expense right now- Any suggestions? Thanks

EDIT~how to make a galvanometers from scratch? I don't want to make the compass galvanometer or the cheap ones. I want one that will look nice and work great for less than 250 volts.~EDIT does any one have any diagram or schematic/blueprint?

Being an insatiable tinkerer, I an planning an exensive remodel on a '92 Honda 100. It's one of those all-plastic dirtbikes, and frankly, I'm too big for it in its current configuration. Not a problem I have often, but man is it annoying! The price was right, and I needed a functional sled, so here we are. I'm in the midst of designing/modifying and buiding a tank for it that is bigger and metal. As such, the current seat has to go. I don't want to hack up the seat because I'd like to have the option to return to stock. I would like to put a seat on it that is reminiscent of 70s Hondas, just new and on the cheap. Does anyone have any experience/ideas with building a seat like this? I've got a lot of foam (but probably not the "right" sort), and a masters degree in duct tape upholstery. I've made all-metal seatpans before, but these were aways solo saddles. Any tips/tricks/technquies that might make my life easier in this endeavor?

I am very familiar with velostat and conductive fabric and how to combine them to make textile touch sensors. I would now like to make a touch sensor that's more solid, and made from a firmer resistive substance than velostat. I've been looking up the resistivity/conductivity of different metals here: https://www.thoughtco.com/table-of-electrical-resi.... In theory, as long as one metal (or other material) is more conductive than the other, it should work the same? I've read on silicon and carbon fiber, but I'm not sure if what I'm researching is the solid kind, or the flimsy/squishy/bendy kind.

My dog Scooby has been scratching himself a lot lately. We put flea stuff on him but it didn't really help. Usually he scratches the same spots so he gets sores. I don't know what to do about it and it must really be uncomfortable. What can I do?

I would like to create a box that has four different buttons, each one plays a different song, but I have no idea how to store the songs(The amp isn't an issue, there are enough Instructables out there on that) or how to record the songs onto the memory device.  It would be nice to be able to record it through a microphone or the earphone jack on a computer.  I would also like it to be able to fit in my pocket if that is possible(the recording device doesn't need to fit in my pocket). Hi there. I bought some acrylic aquarium gems that are multicolored and translucent. These gems have some scratches and blemishes on them that aren't an issue at a distance, but I'm planning on making some jewelry with them, and when examined I want them to be clear and pristine as possible. Do you have any ideas on how I can achieve this without damaging the gems? Thanks in advance!

As challenging as this sounds, I know it is entirely possible. Using spare parts of cameras, with circuit boards, image sensors, lenses, etc... how would one even begin approaching this task? I would imagine there'd be some programming involved thereafter as well.

Everybody has seen the occasional Photoshop Art image. However, many of them rely on modifying the appearance of a photograph or image. Needless to say, this won't qualify me for something like a Community Graphic Arts class, which I am currently participating in. Without this assignment done, I run the risk of failing the class. Hi Everyone! I happen to just have bought a very cheap and very disfunctional R/C Drift car. I am now thinking of either making one from scratch or modifying my present one. If you're an rc enthusiast, arduino programmer, electronics hobbyist, or just someone who happen to have some spare parts that you don't need that I may need, feel free to say something. My present Drift car is ,btw, a Flash and dash Race tin. It has two sets of wheels, one for drifting, and the other for racing. Please feel free to comment ,suggest, or give a tip so I can mod my present one or make another one with variable speed and turn. My present one doesn't allow this.

What I want to do is to make a fairly large and powerful one(say, somewhere around the size of a coffee can). This is for asculpture project, and the motor will be driving a kinetic mechanism.I'm pretty handy, have a extensive range of tools and am comfortableworking with high voltage. What I am not, however, is knowledgeableabout designing or making electric motors; hence my questions.I understand that I'll need to wind armatures and so forth, but Idon't know what the advantages/disadvantages would be of making a DCversus an AC motor (either power could be supplied), nor do I reallyunderstand the differences between the various types of those two. Themotor needs to be able to start by itself under load (as opposed tosome homemade electric motors that seem to need a nudge to get going).Simplicity, low maintenance and ease of construction would be a plus.I had thought of making a homopolar motor such as they have at theExploratorium (http://www.exploratorium.edu/cmp/exnet/exhibits/group5/daisy/index.html) but it seems that homopolar motors like this cause considerable wearto the part that acts as a brush, which will work against my goal oflow maintenance. ok, so i'm not a musician by any stretch of the imagination. but i do like to make things out of wood and what nots. so i've decided to make my brother, who plays guitar, a slide guitar for christmas (mostly because of the posts here that show people making them). i went out and bought a $50 pawn store electric guitar (serious pile of crap but all the electronics work) and i've disassembled it. i've got a rough idea of how i'm going to build this thing as far as shape and actual construction of the box etc.. (sort of going for the pool cue box method), it'll basically be a long rectangle with a hinged lid. i've got a basic idea for how i'm going to hold the strings (i'm thinking this is called the nut? or something? dunno, the looped end of the strings) but i'm having a hard time coming up with a way to make it tuneable. i've still got the machine heads from the guitar and i'd like to use those, but i'd ultimately like for this thing to be a 6 string (if he wants to make a 6 string into a 3 or 1 string he just has to pull strings off, but if i make it as a 3 string he can't use it as a 6) and i'd like everything to be contained inside. i can't for the life of me figure out how to mount the machine heads in such a way where the turning handles would be able to still be inside of the box and still be usable. i've thought about maybe zither pins/pegs/whatever the hell they're called, but i've got no idea if those would work. also, i know a lot of the 2x4 slides use a beer bottle under the strings behind the pickups, now that looks neat but does it actually have a function? any help is appreciated

I would like to learn how to make some sort of ointment to put on cards that will not scratch too easily, yet that will let itself be taken off with the help of a coin or any other sharp-edged objects. The possibility of changing the colour of the ointment would be great as i would like to include the cards as part of an art project which be very colourful. The ointment should apply smoothly on the card to avoid bloaches and bubbling, should have a good shelf-life and be completely safe in the hands of artists and "scratchers" alike. The art piece is going in an art exhibition on September 6th, 2009 so it would be great if I had the recipie beforehand to create the cards. I was in the process of sanding down the wooden frames of my bathroom mirrors preparatory to refinishing them, and I didn't take the mirrors out first (duh!) Anyway, I was using 40 grit sandpaper, because the wood was pretty badly damaged from years of use without proper care, and ended up with some deep and ugly scratches in the glass. Biggest problem is that I'm just renting, so I'd really like to fix the problem before it is noticed by the owner, and having the mirrors replaced would be a financial pain in the neck, to say the least. So, does anybody have any ideas about fixing the scratches? Can I do something like I would with wood, using finer sandpaper in sequence, or will I just have more scratches of varying width and depth? How about buffing or polishing with or without some sort of filler?

I have a halo 2 disc and it has this really bad sratch that runs most of the way across the disc, and yes i know the game is a little old but respect the h2., the scratch is circled in yellow. if you know anyway to fix scratch plz tell me or if you think it is beyond repair.

I might be going to Walmart tomorrow to buy Halo 3 (finally) and I'm thinking about getting the Limited Edition. Now I know that when Halo 3 was released there were some problems with the Limited Edition cases scratching the discs. I also know that you could send it in until the end of January for a replacement. So I want to know if the ones that are in stores are new copies, or just the ones with the bad cases that haven't been bought yet.

Ok I have decided today.... I am going to buld an entire home portrait studio From start to finish to take pictures of my little girls. Im going to build everything except the camera and tripod, and make it as cheap as possible while still keeping to the motto "simple stupid". Here is the list i have so far. soft box, reflector umbrella, back drop, backdrop stand,sitting box,power supply with switch (or switches havent decided yet), adjustable lights, light stands, and back drop holders. I will be posting the instructables as I go along. If anyone can think of anything else I may need please let me know.

Hey world, i was wondering if any carpentry buffs out there could give me a hand, i have a very simple project: a desk using only 4 pieces of straight board, one for the top surface, 2 for the sides/legs, and one for support. (if you're having trouble visualizing it, look at the pic below). what i need help with is what kind of wood to use, i was thinking some hard wood, but i dont know what would be most cost effective (not goin for beauty here, it'll all be painted in the end) I plan to make a bunch of cut outs in the surface so i can incorperate things like an ipod dock, slots for papers and holes for wires to be hidden. I'm searching on the web for this but I can't get all of my answers. I want to build a RC car from scratch, and I just want to buy this: Microcontroller Motors Wheels Parts to connect motor to wheels Sensors External communication (e.g. bluetooth, wi-fi) Material to build the chassis I have a Computer Science degree and I work with embedded systems, so my major problems here are: How to choose the correct motor for the job (type of motor, torque, consumption, velocity that I can expect, etc) The best way to control the chosen motor  How to connect the motor to the wheels ( I want to make a car with gears, but for the first project it will be fine if it's just a DC motor connected to some wheel, without any axle) I don't expect you to give me these explanations but only pointing me to some good information source (books, websites, other instructables). The idea with this project it's to make a small RC car controlled by bluetooth/wi-fi with some sensors and using the PCB as part of the chassis. Thanks
