I was recently on Knex.com where I found two new sets that had just come out Lava launch coaster and Loopin' lighting coaster. One thing I noticed on the lava one was that the main structure was made out of micro knex! WHY??????? Can't they just go back to making sets like big ball factory thats very substantial and strong rather than weak rubbish micro knex. Another example is the motorized madness ball machine which I not even sure whether it uses any normal knex. Annoyingly I think old sets or just boxes of random stuff off ebay is the only way. I would be happy to hear your thoughts.

Hi , new to instructables and have been looking at some posts and am now confused. Im in the process of seting up a led lighting board, I am using 20 blue high power 1W led's 350mw each. My plan is to run them from a computer power supply, but am unsure of the safest way to hook them up, parallel with a resistor for each or so on, I am basic when it comes to electronics and components, i can read a basic diagram. Also some parts listed in high power led driver on this site are parts numbers that are not available in Australia, i know i need to regulate voltage and current at 3.5v and 350ma but don't know what parts to use, i used led calculator and was told to use a 1watt 5.6ohm resistor in parallel. Please help

I have had a lot of success with instructables that have more than one objective in view. For example, my K'NEX Gun Attachments 'ible has had almost 4,000 views (not to mention 22 favorites), and I think that the main reason for this can be extensively attributed to the fact that there is more than one thing to look at within the 'ible. After all, look at BM2's L85A2. The gun is amazing, but people also (note the word ALSO, there) love the ACOG that he has included within the pictures. I think that this could be used again in a really cool instructable "initiative" that I wanted to propose to you guys. My idea is this. Why must we always post instructables with only one item included within them? I see no reason for why this should always be, so I propose this. A pistol instructable. What we would do is (a collection of us) build a bunch of shooting pistols (no models please) whether replicas or not, I don't care, so long as they shot and are relatively new (no carbon copies of other builds). Then, at the end of say, April, I would make and invite a bunch of you guys to post your pistols onto an instructable, and then I'd finally post after everybody got theirs added and edited. What do you guys think? The idea kinda seem sorta far fetched, but we could give it a whirl all the same...? -The Red Book of Westmarch

From "squishy circuits" to robotics, to chemistry and metalurgy, but she has a keen interest in dinosaurs and Roman history, and I am a bit lost on Roman history....any suggestions on how to get THAT worked into an interesting project? I was thinking about doing a wire chess set. Since it was suggested by CaitlinsDad over here: https://www.instructables.com/community/Requesting-feedback-on-a-Fire-Breathing-Dragon-tes/ Came up with this. These are rough (obviously), the rook should have crenelations and I did the king and queen in the same piece. It's like 5 AM and my fingers hurt from working on a wire Nine Tailed Fox (from Naruto) for my son. So, I took a short cut. The picture should make it clear how I'm planning to make things look. The knight is abstract, it always bothers me when the horse is the only thing with any detail. The pawn is about 1/2" x 1" tall, the queen would be just under 2" tall, the king is about 2 1/4" tall, both by 1" wide, the other 3 are about 1 1/2" x 3/4". It is done in 18g galvanized steel. Anybody still reading? Great! I'd love to get some feedback, good, bad, anything to either confirm it is just the best thing ever OR how it could be improved towards that goal. So don't hold back. Cheers.

When on my profile page, I see three options near the top, just under my picture: Profile, Classes, and Settings. Below those are what seems to be a feed, perhaps, with only one item that says I joined instructables. When it first loads, Profile is highlighted. If I click on Classes or Settings, something seems to load, but I still see the same feed - no classes, no settings. In order to get back to a class I had started previously, I had navigate to it by browsing classes. This seems like a bug, but if there's something I'm doing wrong please let me know. Thanks, Steve

This entire chess set is made out of chain mail. The amount of work that must have gone into this is mind-boggling. You will certainly lose the nice sound of solidly dropping a piece into a new strategic location, but maybe the clank of chain mail on chain mail will be even more satisfying.Link

I just made an excel spreadsheet, that predicts the future of data sets. My main reason was because I wanted to have a way to predict my Instructable views, but this could be used for a lot more. This is not completely accurate (as it uses the best fitting line of the data) so don't believe it completely. To use it, just change the first two numbers (at least) to values you want to see grow. Any value you don't know. Mark with n

At the moment, I am in possession of a really old, monochromatic surveillance monitor and camera. Both the camera and monitor have their own microphones and speakers (low quality), with the camera speaker being the louder one. The monitor has multiple inputs for audio and video (red/yellow/white). The set-up itself is not very large, the monitor is smaller than an overhead project by a 25% or more. Now my question is what do with it?

How come, when all strings are in tune (using two different tuners to check) and the intonation at fret 12 is right on, strings 1,2,3,4 are fairly sharp when fretted on frets 1,2,3,4 then start to get back in tune? Sharp enough that the guitar is unplayable.

Here's an easy way to make an electric drum set for about 150 dollars that sounds and works great. I am going to post instructions, but this should tell you enough. Get two rock band drum sets. Open the drums. They are easy to open. Just put your hand in the little gap about halfway through the drums and carefully lift up. In the center, there would be a circular area. Keep those clean. Buy nine of those tiny recorders that you press a button to play. They are about 4 dollars each. Record a tom 1 sound, a tom 2 sound, a tom 3 sound, a bass sound, a snare sound, a crash cymbal 1 sound, a crash cymbal 2 sound, a boom cymbal sound, and a hi-hat cymbal sound. Glue each drum sound inside the center of each drum. Glue the bass one underneath the bass pedal. Turn all the volumes on high. IT WORKS! All for pretty cheap.

I apologise in advance to all you keen photographers for my Absolute Novice status. I need to take photo's for my Instructables which are usually small-ish desk top items. Currently I am having problems with a dark (black paper) drawing in a glass frame, how do I get the details in the image without it bleaching out or flaring on the glass? I have a spacious work desk under a window, two cantilever lights, a centre room light, etc. I can only use whatever's available in my house because I never take pictures for any other reason. Any tips for a very grateful novice would be very welcome.( I'm a blank slate)

Basically I have two ideas, one of which I'm pretty ready to make now and another which will take a little longer to make, one is a tiny forge, like desktop sized, for working at home and the other is a much larger forge for big metalwork projects, thankfully the large one will actually require less parts scavenging as I have plenty of acces to scrap material and there's a brickyard over the wall from us which will do me the necessary materials very cheap, mainly because I did a little forklift driving for them for larger heavyweight loads over three tonnes. That's all well and good a big one I can get my head round easily enough, But. How would I go about making a tiny forge and I mean miniscule, it's main purpose is for heating to cast for my specialist parts I prefer making and the other is for low material single cast jewellry my mum makes (she used to own a jewewllry business and still makes the odd bespoke items. But my main question is how I can build a reliable yet compact forge and furnace, from what I have sitting around I'm sure I can come up with a decent fuel source, ranging from butane torches and stoves, both of which can do propane and I could go to natural gas (we have a special plug out the back for gas barbeques the house had it when we came...) but my other questions are a bit more odd, first of all what would make a great crucible, I need something that'll be fairly invincible to the hardships caused by life, as the other liely user of the forge and furnace is very forgetful and sometimes accident prone. Next up is the housing, would it be feasible to use a single block of thermocrete cast to make the main furnace housing, as in everything is but the fuel and air source holes and the crucible hole would be one block, as it stands that seems like the best way to make it simple and effective, plus it would be pretty airtight where needed. Next question is the fuel and temperatures, I know that butane at full combustion get 1300C and 1000C is a practicable operating temp. for a butane item but what about propane or even natural gas, since it would be very cheap and clean burning... I'm a bit of a noob towards this end of the scale, I can make stuff hot and I can do alot with these things but actual forge and furnace making is a little beyond me on this scale, however I can think of several advantages to my baby furnace, including the practical movement of it, as it could be self contained very easily. The pic was just one of the last pictures that's remotely intersting I uploaded, however it raises it's own points as the jet engine basically welded all it's components forward of the flame together.
