A new shirt

After years of just the Robot being the only Instructables shirt, we decided to make a small batch of a new design. It's simple and straightforward and, for me at least, sums up the experience of sharing project ideas. Right now they're only available in the store here. If people like them we may make more. What do you think?

Proximity Shirt

Is there a project on the site that duplicates what the two proximity shirts do that were sold on thinkgeek? Locked-on proximity shirt: http://craziestgadgets.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/proximity-sensing-shirt.gif Zelda hearts proximity shirt: http://www.thegreenhead.com/imgs/proximity-based-dynamic-life-shirt-3.jpg I am not trying to make my own shirts but I am interested in the tech that makes those two shirts work. If the same results can be duplicated with an ardurino and/or xbee, then that would be great!! Please let me know if that can be done and if yes, could you point me in the right direction. Thanks!

Does anyone have any ideas for a t-shirt cannon? I really want to build one. I've seen them for $2000.00 and I know I could make one for much less. My budget is about $40.00 and I have weeks to build it. Plans would be Awsome.

Robot T-shirts- the Extended Family

Check it out- someone made an awesome list of 50 Robot t-shirts! There are some pretty fabulous designs- I particularly like the Robot vs. Monkey Dance-Off, RoboFrankenstein, Every Skyline Needs a Giant Robot, and the Robot Dance Contest. Our favorite robot is somewhere about half-way down. We clearly need to take some classy pictures with real live models. Maybe someone around here has a camera...

Looking for instructions on how to make braided scarves out of old t-shirt?

How to "screen" text onto a shirt? please help!!!

I have read some great tutorials on how to do inexpensive screen printing using the modgepodge method and sewing looms, but that just seems WAY too painstaking to try and use that same method for applying lines of text to fabric. what's more, I can't see someone wasting an entire screen for just a few lines of text, even if they were using traditional screen printing methods. Other than iron-on transfers, what other ways might people be applying text to their items? I hope I make sense, I just have been needing to know this for some time now! The picture i have included is an example of what i am trying to learn. They say it's all "screened" but if so someone please explain to me how this is done! and if there is anyway to do it inexpensively.

Where can I order a nice, professionally-made t-shirt with the yellow Instructables Robot logo on it? Answered

It's for a birthday gift and I'd like Not to make it myself!  (I'm on project overload right now!)  I've check Cafepress and all over this website and googled like crazy.  I'm not a great searcher, though, so I'd appreciate some help.  Surely I can't be the only DIY fan who wants to buy a shirt!  Thanks!

The Canadian Robot

I don't know about anybody else, but the redrawn Robot on the robot contest banner quite appeals to me. For some reason, it feels like he should have a Canadian accent... I'm not suggesting replacing *the* Robot, but it would be nice to see the Canadian version appearing on merchandise, say as a small logo on a shirt, or on a new badge. I would certainly have made this project easier to make... EDIT: I roughed up some versions of my own, with a combination of Inkscape and an oooold copy of Photoshop.

how can i be consistent in printing with rubberized innk?

I have a problem with rubberized ink.. . some tutorials say that I have to press it hard but when i do, it's like the paint is being scraped and the "shiny" effect is not achieved.. . I don't know what to do with the rubberized ink.. another thing is that, where does "bleeding" come from? I mean, what mistake can I possibly commit to see that on my shirt? is it because of not enough pressure? another thing, about the sides of the image, sometimes i do get a "scraped" line on the side of the image.. .why is that so? Can you give me some insights on what errors to prevent? thanks

So Many T-Shirts!

Instructables just got in a brand new shipment of t-shirts today.  Being that I get to count and stock them, I decided to take a little bit of extra time and write up a forum topic about it. Why you ask?  Well let me tell you.  We have a whole lot of extra t-shirts right now, and I think it would be fun to give one away. So here's the deal: Take a couple of glances at the pictures posted, and let me know how many t-shirts you think we have here at headquarters.  The person who is closest gets a t-shirt (and possibly a couple of other goodies). Now here's a little fine print.  I know there are a lot of people out there who already have t-shirts and have no desire to have another one.  So for those of you who already have a t-shirt, try to win one for someone else.  Upon wining this little grab bag, I'll pm the user and ask who they want their t-shirt to go to.  The winner is by all means welcome to keep it, but if they already have one, I would hope they will donate it to a user in need, who has always wanted one, but never had the means to get one. One last thing: I'll give everyone two guesses.  Any more then two and you disqualify yourself from winning.  If anyone manages to get the number spot on, you'll get (what I consider) and awesome grab bag (that I've not yet devised), as well as two additional t-shirts that you can give to whomever. This package is going to be shipped out Monday afternoon, so all entries need to be in by Monday, 1000 PDT! Good Luck. UPDATE 1:  The answer to this query, is 493.  Now it's time to search through the results and see where people are.  Give me a half hour and I'll publish the results. UPDATE 2: FINAL RESULTS! Surprisingly, no one guessed the exact answer. TNEN guessed 495, which just beat out KevinMatchstick by 1.  Which makes TNEN our t-shirt champion!  -I will be contacting TNEN to see if he wants the t-shirt, or if he is going to be giving it to someone else. For making my laugh, both 9VoltWiseMan and caitlinsdad will get to donate a shirt to someone in need (fine print: it can't be for them, and who they give it to can't already have one).  So I will be contacting them as well. Thank you everyone for guessing!  Hopefully I have time during the next shipment to take pictures again!

Soft T-shirt transfers? Answered

I've seen a couple of vintage shops using really high quality transfers put on t-shirts to make them look old. (So the t-shirt and transfer look old and soft like a genuine vintage tee) The transfers you get in shops always end up feeling crispy and cheap, and looking glossy. Does anyone know where I can get decent transfers or an alternative method? (Not fabric paint!) Thanks! x

Mad Science Tee Shirts!

Hello fellow instructablers!  I started my first ever teespring.com crowd funded run of tshirts about a week ago, and I'm SO CLOSE to hitting my goal!   I figured Mad Science (being the best science) might be of interest to the rest of the instructables community.  This is my own design, and I'm pretty proud of it.  Perhaps you'd like to share your own love of Mad Science by sporting one of these awesome shirts, or giving one as a gift to the Mad Scientist in your life! As of this posting (December 4, 2013 at 9:00 pm) there's just 3 days and 19 hours to go!  If I get just 10 people to preorder they get printed (I'm at 9 now), and if I get more than that then I make a little scratch to fund future projects. http://teespring.com/bestscience
