I've got a problem, and I'm hoping you all might be able to help. My laptop has shut down on it's own three times. Each time it shuts down, it's as if the battery was removed--instantly off. I've also been watching video each time. Twice on hulu, once was vimeo. The first two times were one day after another, and the third just now, was a week later. So if anybody has any ideas on what might be wrong, I'd really appreciate it. The laptop should still be under warranty but I'd love to not leave it with best buy for four weeks. Thanks!

While using my computer upstairs I randomly get shut down. Mostly all I am running is iTunes- not much else. It will shutdown when playing a movie for about 5-10 minutes without pausing, and sometimes (but not nearly as much) while playing music. Its on Win XP Pro, 3ghz Intel Pentium 4, 1gb of RAM (SDRAM?). Computer gives no error/overheating messages. I have no active internet connection, but I have some temp. monitoring programs installed (speedfan + intel software) and I can get programs on it with a USB flash drive. Computer did have an overheating problem, but I attributed that to the broken PSU fan. Replaced the PSU and it ran a lot cooler, except for this new problem. Any ideas?

My laptop has been recently shutting down fequently. It is not heat related because I have been watching the temp and it has not gotten over 145 degrees F. The pc consultant and my university said it was a hardware problem but I'm not sure. It suspiciously started after I accidently went to a website that was labled 'this site may be hacked.' I have does full scans with malwarebytes and Windows Defender but they didn't find anything. I also did a Microsoft memory diagnostics and it did not find errors. I can't find a consistant way to make it shut down, sometimes it is a few minutes or an hour. Since its a Dell, I ran a Dell diagnostics test and it found BSOD errors but didn't have a solution. Any help is appreciated.

This is for when you accidentally or on purpose start a shutdown or restart. It will stop it immediately. I used it a couple days ago, having stumbled on it some day on the intertubes, and it saved me from having to restart.Press the Windows key on your keyboard and R, or open it from the Start menu. Type shutdown -a and click OK/ press enter.

Hi everybody. I've been trying to unbrick my sony PSP, but I'm having a little snag mid-way through. I push X to install firmware 3.71, it begins the installation, says "Formatting Flash0...", and then it shuts off. Does anybody know why it is shutting off rather than continuing with the installation? The pandora battery is fully charged. Help would be much appreciated.

So, as a school prank, I want to find a way to shutdown my teachers' computers with my phone. I have the Galaxy S3 in case you need to know. I see there are things that allow me to do it with a software installed on their computer, but I would prefer to avoid that if possible. Are there any apps or programs I can use to find local computers nearby and simply shut them down? Any and all help is welcome. Thanks!

The problem is that I don't have the disk.Is there any way to do it without the disk?

Specification EG7500 Inverter Drive Board. PWM freq 40kHz. Overvoltage shutdown 15V +-0.5V. Low voltage buzzer beep 10.5 +-0.5. Undervoltage shutdown 9.5 +-0.5. Overcurrent shutdown 48mV. 1A Output current drive. Carry out a test by varying DC between 9V to 15V. Resulted: 1. At 10V to 10.5V buzzer beep. "OK" 2. At 9V to 9.5V or below 9V the unit shutdown. "OK" 3. At 13V to 13.5V ran into off and trying to restart the unit (Board marked A). "NG" 4. At 14.5V to 15V ran into off and trying to restart the unit (Board marked B). "OK" Refer to above test how to improve "Board Marked A" overvoltage shutdown? Which part of the schematic to begin troubleshoot. What component I needs to change or improve? Once power up. This unit draw ~0.5A on standby. How do I minimize the standby current? There are no temperature control since P3 "S8550" was not on board. Can I just put "S8550" on board and use PTC for temperature control? As proposed by schematic online, pin 4 fan control feet to ad 100uF to ground. How do I change this part to enable fan control once the temperature rise? How many FET this unit can drive with 1A at 40kHz? How to test the overcurrent shutdown? Thank you

HI, the idea is to control a power outlet when the OS is booting. And even more important, when the OS shuts down. the outlet should turn off before the PC goes in shutdown.A master/slave socket (which i have) only switches off when the PC goes into OFF modes which results in a big bang on my Active Speaker setup. (behringer B2031A with B2092A).So, in short. i need a circuit thats being controlled ON after a driver has been loaded during BOOT.and that cicuit needs to power down when the Driver is being offloaded during shutdown.AC being controlled by a solid state relayThank you for anyone who can helpbest regardsmarco

I would like to build an automatic starter for my generator for my travel trailer. I would like for it to start automatically when the temperature reaches a preset level and then, shutdown when the temperature lowers to a preset level. The Air conditioner would be on when the generator is on and also, the battery charger would be on to charge the batteries. The batteries would power an inverter so AC would be available when the generator wasn't running.

In my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Pickup, the radio isn't working. The antenna ran through the passenger door and one day, the exposed wire in the antenna made contact with the door, immediately shuting off the radio. I am assuming it did this because the body of the truck is grounded by the battery. The antenna is no longer attached to the radio, however every once in a while the radio turns on but when I try to play a cassette or a CD it blinks on the screen and will shutdown anywhere from 30 sec. to 20 minutes later. If I don't try playing a cassette or CD, It will shutdown anywhere from 30 sec. to 20 minutes later. The radio generally shuts down when turning. Once, the truck was parked overnight and the next day, the radio read "8:30" telling me it had been on for either 8 or 20 hours. Recently, it has been not working at all, turning on maybe once a day. It is a radio with a cassette player, and then in the back there is a 5 disc CD changer. I checked every single fuse, and just in case replaced the "Radio" fuse, but still nothing. I also checked in the radio to see if there was an internal fuse, or one on the back of the radio, however I found nothing. Help would be appreciated, Thanks.

Whenever I come to this site, I always have to sign in, even when I click the "remember me", this is not recent, been going on for 3 or 4 months. I am using windows 7 with FireFox and am accepting cookies. It's just plain annoying to have to sign in every time, even if I don't shutdown my computer it still forgets me. I like to click on an instructable and have to set to show all steps on one page, and when I sign in it does just that, but when I open a new tab to have another instructible open, it forgets me again. Any fix to this? It also does it on the Seamoney and Chrome browsers on my laptop.
