plan for a soundboard? Answered

Im trying to make myself a soundboard because I'm tired of having speakers that are not compatible. i would like to have a 3.5 mm audio jack and RCA audio inputs. Switches so i can choose which input I want to use. I then want to have a 3.5 mm audio jack, RCA audio, and bare speaker wires as outputs. I also will need an amplifier for when the input is a an IPOD for example. And to amplify the sound through the bare speaker wires. I'm not exactly sure how to wire it all but here is my plan.

Customizable soundboard?

I would like to make what is essentiallya customizable easy button, essentially a button that when pressed plays a wav/mp3 file from an SD card. Could someone make a guide?

Hello! I was recently thinkng about soundboard that would plug into minijack socket. After little research I dedcided to go with Arduino nano and DAC converter to get analog signal to jack. The sound files will be saved on the SD card and as you can see there are 8 buttons. I made the project in EasyEDA but I am not sure is it going to work. So I ask you. Thanks.

Adruino soundboard-ish-thing?

I want to make a machine that, when a button is pressed, one of the Seinfeld bass lines plays I imagine adruino would work with this but im not sure how is the possible? plausible? feasible? is there a better way to do it?

How do I make a soundboard that activates via a momentary switch?

Hi all, For an upcoming case mod project, I would like to make a soundboard that, when a momentary switch is activated, plays a pre-loaded sound. In this case, when a momentary key switch is turned, it will start the computer, and play the sound of an engine starting. It would be even better if I could add a delay, so it starts playing the sound of the starter motor in the engine, and then continue on to the engine starting as the PC starts, but it requires you to keep the key switch activated, so its just like starting a car. Does anyone know how I could go about this?

The soundboard I am learning to run is similar to the one in Learning to run a Mixer(Soundboard). It is the one in step #2.The thing I was wondering about was why the lights only light up on one side of the vu meter.Thanks

Individually Addressable Speaker Array

Hey! I had an idea for an array of many small speakers, each capable of playing different sounds so I could dynamically re-arrange which speaker is playing what. This would be paired with some LEDs and some water to make (what I hope will be) a fantastic visual effect. But of course all this is a bit over my head, so I'd like some feedback on my idea! After a bit of research, here's how I think I'll do it: General Concept Essentially what I'm trying to do is make a waveform generator with lots and lots of separate channels. I would hook up my microcontroller to several, multi-channel Digital to Analog Converters (DACs). The microcontroller would feed these DACs signals to generate the wave forms that I want for each individual speaker. The waveforms that the DACs output would each go through an extremely simple amplifier. The amplified signal would go to my speakers. I've attached a diagram that should give you a better idea of what I'm doing. Specifics The microcontrollers I'm looking at are the ChipKIT series from Digilent because I have access to a bunch of these. I'm currently planning on using the uC32, but I actually have access to pretty much all their other boards. The uC32 runs at 80MHz. The DAC I'm looking at is the AD5628 from Analog Devices. That's used in Digilent's PmodDA4, which I also have access to. Alternatively I might just order a bunch. They have 8 analogue outputs, and the SPI communication can run at 50MHz clock speed. I'm planning to have eight of these (for 8^2 total outputs). I haven't figured out what amplifier I'm going to use yet. It'll need to be simple and cheap, as I'm expecting to have 8^2 of them, but I'd also like one that can operate over a large band of frequencies. I've also attached two pictures of the speakers I'm planning to use. I kinda randomly acquired a lot of these, so I'd rather not switch to a different speaker type. According to Wikipedia, the highest note on a piano keyboard is a little over 4kHz. If I split the sinusoidal wave into 16 segments, that means an update frequency of 76kHz. This is way below my max operating speed of 50MHz so I think I can get away with it. Questions What am I doing wrong? I'm hardly an expert on any of this, so I'm certain there's a much simpler way. Are there ICs that do what I want? Maybe something that takes in a digital signal and outputs waveforms? This would be similar to how a servo controller would output different PWM signals, only changing the frequency rather than the duty cycle. What sort of amplifiers should I be looking at? This is my first time on the forum so please let me know if I'm doing anything wrong (or could do anything better).

How to connect physical pushbuttons to a computer for use in a soundboard program?

I plan to do a project that will use 28 arcade style pushbuttons to activate 28 different sounds on a computer. Any ideas on products out there I can use to connect all 28 buttons to a computer, preferably with a USB cable, so it can be used in a programming language such as C++? One idea I had was to take apart a QWERTY keyboard, but I still want to be able to use my regular keyboard to use my computer. Alternatively, is there a way for two keyboards to be connected to same computer, but one of them only activates a specific program? i.e. trying to type in notepad with it wouldn't work?

need help writing Arduino sketch for Nano to Adafruit FX mini soundboard communications?

Hello everyone.  I am new here, and fairly new to arduino. Im an electrician/ communications tech by trade, but have only been working with code as a hobby for a few weeks (have wanted to learn this for a long time).  I am working on a project that would require an Motion sensor input to play an audio track at random, whilst illuminating a corresponding PWM LED. said LED should fade in sync with the audio file. ITs a robot of sorts that will detect movement and speak a random audio track.  Some nice (0-5) and some not so nice (6-12).  it will have a a diffused glow when on, blue when speaking nice, and red when speaking not so nice.  hence the audio input to act as an anologRead and output to the PWM's I know, a lot to take on for a noob.  but go big or go home.  I have put together what I thought was a good start sketch, but it doesnt even illuminate an LED, communicate with the soundboard, or serial link on the monitor. I think I am on the right track in regards to the parts and overall Idea.  And im pretty sure my sketch needs a lot of work, but i am trying. so here are the parts I had intended to use. Eurorack UB1222FX-PRO troubleshooting help (power supply)?

I got a Eurorack UB1222FX-PRO sound mixer/whatever from my school a while ago. It was broken and wouldn't turn on so that's why I got it. I'm not exactly sure whats wrong with it but im pretty darn sure that something is up with the power supply as nothing on the board is even powering on. But there is some power coming out of it to the main board but im not sure if its just not enough power or what. I know my chances of anyone on here knowing whats up are pretty slim but I don't have anything else left to do, and it doesn't hurt to ask. Im not exactly sure what to be testing or how to test things for that matter. It doesn't look like anything is wrong with it. I have a digital multimeter but it doesn't have many settings and im not sure if im testing parts on the right setting. sometimes i get readings and sometimes i dont. Anyway, if someone could maybe guide me through a troubleshooting process that could possible narrow the problem down that would be great. if not ill just scrap it and steal all the parts out of it.  If you need more pictures or more information i'd be more than happy to provide them.  EDIT: I doubt this will help any but here is the manual:

Adding sound to a project

Hey there fellow modders/hackers/builders. I am in need of your help. First off, my keyboard is broken so I may miss some mistakes. Now to my problem, I have an idea for a project but have run into a problem... How do you add a single sound to a project? I just need one sound to play when a button is pushed. After some Google searching, I didnt find anything that could help me. So if any of you know of a way to fix my problem please please let me know. Thanks in advance!

Homemade player piano

So I got two pianos for free, one in great condidtion other than being out of tune and having a stiff action, and the other, a player, having a badly cracked soundboard and pinblock.  I salvaged the player pneumatics and bellows from the player and managed to mount it upon the other piano.  On each note bellows there were rods that pushed on levers to trip the action of the player piano.  On this one, these levers are about a foot and a half above the bottom of the action, because it is a console piano (shorter).  I've tried linking the bellows to the keys with hooks (which didn't work, it just pulled the keys off the center pivot point) and directly to the action, on the bridle strap hook.  I've tried different strings and two different gauges of wire, but they always seems to stretch, untie or to come unhooked whenever a note is triggered with the player, or with the keys.  If anyone has ideas on how to link the player mechanism to the piano action, any help would be appreciated.
