Instructables Stickers in Taiwan

A few months ago Instructables user Cousin Steve contacted us about printing up some Instructables stickers to hand out at a DIY event in Taiwan. We thought this was a great idea so I sent Cousin Steve the source files for the Instructables stickers. He then took some awesome initiative and translated our slogan into Chinese, printed up a couple hundred stickers, and has been handing them out to people in Taiwan ever since!Needless to say we were very impressed and excited with his work. We've told him so, and sent him an Instructables robot t-shirt to thank him for helping us spread the word about Instructables to such a far away place. If anyone else is interested in printing up Instructables stickers in their area you can download the original files below, translate the text as necessary, and print up some of your very own stickers to hand out. We just request that anyone making any changes to the designs below run them by us first so before having them printed up.Nice job Cousin Steve!

Instructables Stickers are Multiplying

Squid Labs recently got a Roland 54" Printer/Cutter and we have been using it to print out the first round of Instructables stickers. Our initial batch was mailed out to the winners from the valentines day contest. Then, as we got the hang of how to use the crazy machine more appeared at the Instructables Show and Tell two weeks ago in Alameda, Austin and Boston. Now they are being sighted at the Port of Oakland and in Brooklyn, New York! It seems that our stickers like great views of city skylines, but I think they could be happy living just about anywhere. If you happen to see a sticker living in its "natural habitat", take a quick picture of it and post it up as a comment. If you would like a sticker, and don't have one, attend one of the Instructables Show and Tell events coming up, make a great instructable and get it into the Instructables News Letter, or send me a private message with your compelling story.

Instant computer "security"

Browsing NOTCOT today, I came across an interesting "artistic statement" on what to do when the Thought Police decide you've crossed the line from artist to terrorist. I read it twice before I noticed the author. Make sure you read the comments there before you start commenting here about how it won't really work. Yes, young lady, I'm looking at you!

Can you recommend sticker printing companies they could check? Answered

My niece and her group mates need to raise funds for their school festival. They decided to sell foods but still need to market them. They are considering printing marketing materials like posters, flyers, and custom stickers. Do you think it's a great idea? Or can you recommend printing companies they could check?

I have an extra sticker from Instructables, but the problem is that I don't know where to put it.  I need your help to help me find a place to put it. New Patch/Sticker Ideas

I posted a forum topic a while ago showcasing some ideas of mine for some new instructables stickers/patches, and have just recently gotten a huge amount of help from Killerjackalope with some fantastic ideas. The topic was originally posted under sports, because the original logos were NBA style, but I've now moved it to the Community Blog. Below are my own, and Killerjackalopes ideas for some new designs. Feel free to make your own and PLEASE post pictures of them. Maybe if we're lucky, the Instructables Team will take someones design and use it on their products! We can only hope! Below Designs: The first 3 are my own designs, with the 4th being killerjackalopes original design. The 5th is my own, based off of my and killerjackalopes changes, with the 6th being his with further changes to the design. We hope you guys will contribute to this topic and show us some great innovative ideas for what we hope could be some new logos for instructables products!

Questions about Homemade stickers

Hello fellow craftsmen! I have a few questions I'd like to get some clarification on if anyone has tried the Instructable by SirBrittanicvs for Homemade stickers. 1. Can this instructable be applied to pencil/pen drawings without distorting the image? Or must the stickers be printed out by the printer? I'm just worried that the pictures will get smudged do to the mixture of glue and vinegar. 2.) After appliying the adhesive to the paper how long can the stickers be stored before the adhesive is ineffective? There was another question I wanted to ask, but I cannot remember it at the moment. But I appreciate any further assistance with this Instructable before I begin and mess something up, haha. Happy New Year everyone!

How can I remove sun deteriorated plastic decals from a painted bicycle frame without damaging the paint?

Peeling off is not an option, I have tried scraping off with a plastic scraper to no avail. Have also tried Goo Gone (citrus based solvent) and Oops! (a stronger solvent) with a non scratch scrubbing pad. I was able to peel the decals that werent' cracked from the sun but the others are basically baked on from the Arizona heat. Would a heat gun work? How careful do I have to be not to damage the paint? What about something like 2000 grit wet/dry sandpaper?

Covering a stickered laptop with epoxy resin? Answered

Hi! I recently got a new laptop and I covered the top cover with stickers and it looks pretty good if I do say so myself. I didn't want the stickers to peel up or anything so I went on over to the hardware store and bought some Krylon Crystal Clear spray, which is an acrylic lacquer based spray. I sprayed a whole 32 coats on that sucker and it was still paper thin. It's as if I simply made the surface shiny, and the stickers could still easily peel up. So I did a lot of research and I found a lot of things but I figured a 2 part pour on epoxy resin was the best choice. It's thick, self leveling, self doming, and it cures instead of air drying. My goals from the beginning were to eliminate surface texture altogether. I want the end product to be like those table top bars with stuff encased inside within a clear glass-like coating. I have found a lot of stuff, but I have yet to find anyone that has done what I am trying to do, and since it's my new laptop, I have concerns. How durable will the epoxy be? I want to make sure that it will be able to withstand the life of a college student, although I'm a quite careful one at that. Will the epoxy have any trouble bonding and staying bonded to the Krylon spray? It's an acrylic lacquer based coating according to the company. I don't want the shell of epoxy separating from the top of the laptop. I'm worried about bumping the edges and having the epoxy chip off or just separate altogether. That last question is the main and most important one, really. The last thing I want happening is for the epoxy to dry and then separate from the laptop or crack or chip or something. The epoxy I've settled on for now is Envirotex Lite, I'm not sure how much epoxy differs between manufacturers. I've emailed several companies asking lots of questions and I've gotten a lot answered, but these ones have yet to be solved. Thank you so much for reading this and any input or advice would be greatly appreciated!

The Knex Shooting Price Gun.

Hello! I'm JonnyBGood and this is my future knex project/challenge. I work at Familly Dollar now and I use one of these price guns sometimes to put anti-theft stickers on mechandice. They are very comfortable to hold and are easy to use so I thought maybe I can use the format to create a k;nex gun. I am working through another project right now but I will work on this project when I am done. I just thought it would be fun to share my idea and see what other people think of it. Please make suggestions if you have any and if you have time feel free to try to make one yourself!

Geek-Protection Stickers? Call for design suggestions!

So, Star's in jail in Boston for forgetting she was wearing some electronics.I sent this to Xeni Jardin, and she added it to the BoingBoing story:Star was an intern at Squid Labs this summer, and is an all-around awesome geek who loves to build things. FYI, friends at MIT say she wears the hoodie on a regular basis- it's just unfortunate that she had it on while trying to pick a friend up at the airport. MIT students don't really do mornings, or worry about what they're wearing, so I can't imagine she'd even think about her clothes before heading out to pick up a friend at the airport before 8am.When Star gets out we'll have her do an Instructable on 1) how to get arrested at the airport without being shot, and 2) how to package your homemade electronics to look purchased.Maybe BB and Instructables should start handing out some official-looking stickers and plastic covers to make breadboards look more commercial- it will keep our readers away from automatic weapons. I just got email back from Xeni saying, "Let's do those stickers!"Question: what should the stickers look like? What should they say? Make some suggestions, or submit some designs here, and we'll print them up!
