Men's Suit Pattern?

I'm looking to make my own men's suit - i.e. jacket and pants. Does any have, or have a link to, patterns for a suit? I can't find anything using google, but not having looked for patterns before, there may be an awesome resource out there that I don't know about. We are hosting a Zoolander-theme party, and I want to make an awesome suit out of animal/snakeskin print material. As a side note, how much effort would it be to make a suit? I'm not talking something that you could display as art, just something that looks the part, and wont fall apart on the night. Thanks! Alex

Need muscle suit.

So here's the thing. I'm building a green goblin costume(humberto ramos kind) and I need to make my self look a little bigger.  I don't need to see any muscles just bigger. I've considered  using bubble wrap but I'm afraid I might die from Hyperthermia, plus if I sit down it would sound ridiculous. So the next obvious choice would be to use upholstery foam, but I've never worked with it before. I've thought about using plain old newspaper and and strap it down with duct tape, but I think that might be noisy when I walk. Check the pictures to see what I mean. One picture is from a comic book and the other one is a costume made by jacemoore on deviant art.

LED Suit of light

Hi, I am looking to build a fancy dress costume, and have approximately 12 months to make my costume :) What I would like to build is a replica of the following (or something similar): http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2012/02/night-snowboarding-in-an-led-suit-is-mesmerising-to-watch/ I have searched for flexible fabric with woven LEDs, i have also searched several suppliers on Alibaba for flexible led mesh screens but nothing seems to be quite suitable. I think, for this, i would maybe be best off building the suit from strips of waterproof 5050 SMDs like this: http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/615439688/business_agent_smd_505_led_strip.html Power would be in the form of the biggest 12V power supply I can find. The only problem here is that at full brightness, the suit is going to consume A LOT of juice... I have seen this costume which is similar in construction, except all the LEDs twinkle (like TV static): www.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DLal9uma1iVc&ei;=nwgtUNT7B6_Z0QXekYGwDA&usg;=AFQjCNENmYUCu_AwYaEAwqAiWSDFRFnUeg&sig2;=FXRYO81ccZavpYyeBsZMyQ This has the added advantage of lower power draw as not all of the LEDs will be on at the same time. I actually much prefer this concept, however I have absolutely no idea where to begin on schematics... Any insights or friendly advice from the experts would be handy, I have a rudimentary knowledge of electronics, and am very handy with soldering. Thanks!

Couple of ghille suit questions

I trying to make a ghille suit from this instructable and I have a couple of questions. I wanted to make a full body ghille suit, so I was wondering how many more times of burlap do I need to complete this. (Like do I need 2x more, 5x more?), pic attached. I'm going to cut the strings in half before I add them to the suit, if that clarifies anything And I was wondering if the color palette that I chose was good enough. I want a more green ghille suit. I have the three colors shown in the picture that I picked out. Do I need more colors, should I mix some colors, should I leave some colors un-dyed and leave it the original burlap color, or is it good as is? Colors also in attached pics. Also; I'm making this more as a costume, not so much to blend into my environment.

Help needed: Slenderman Costume

I hope you are all familiar with the slenderman mythos. If you aren't, then please check here and here for details. For a halloween party in two weeks time, I am planning on going as the slenderman for a multitude of reasons ( I am very, very tall). I am fine with the suit part, in fact I already had all the pieces before I had the idea. The only problem is the mask. You will have found out that the slenderman has a head but no hair, ears or face. I want to make it appear flesh coloured but i don't want to spend much money on this. I'd prefer a simple method like a balaclava and thin fabric or something but I don't think that would hide my eyes enough. Basically, I need ideas for a slenderman mask. Any help will be appreciated! -Jamalam

Fan made Iron Man suit is pretty freakin' great

Anthony Le is such a fan of Iron Man that he built his own War Machine outfit. Based on concept sketches from before Iron Man 2 hit theaters, Le's suit has a motorized faceplate that flips up and down and a spinning Gatling gun on his shoulder. It's an amazing build and took Le a month to make at a cost of $4,000. Great job! Le, a fitness consultant, studied some concept sketches of the suit posted on the Internet. He used thin, high-impact urethane for the armor, cutting it into plates and joining them with some 1,500 rivets and washers. He sculpted a clay helmet mold and then used a liquid resin mix to create the final product. But that was just cosmetic work. He also added a small servo motor that opens the faceplate, as in the movie, and built a gun out of pipes and a motor. LEDs in the eyes and chest-plate further add to the illusion. You Built What?! A Real Iron Man Suit

C.O.P. Suit: Personal Protest Wear

Whoever does a DIY version first i will bake cookies, seriously: C.O.P Suit was inspired by the COP15 climate summit. The brief was to propose solutions for, or to comment on, the ongoing climate debate – using wearable technology and design as a medium. The C.O.P Suit is an experiment in personal protest wear, designed to address the by now almost ritualised stand-offs between police and demonstrators – what has ironically been described as the ‘folk dance of disorder’. The suit is composed of an armored protection sleeve connected to a megaphone-mounted helmet, offering protection as well as the possibility of voicing commands, orders or simply generating noise. The suit is designed as a purposefully ambiguous and (slightly) ironic artifact, echoing the fetishistic visual language of protesters and police alike – a comment on the similarity of the means each side employs. The C.O.P suit is designed to be completely self-sustainable – utilising kinetic energy from common gestures in a protest situation (the fist thrust triumphantly into the air, the swinging of a baton or the force of a strike to the armor) to power the megaphone, making rioting hard on the ears, but easy on the conscience. Bunion separators made to suit an individual

Hi there, Does anyone have ideas on how to make/get hold of a silicon type material to make moulds of so called toe separators.   Something which could be made to an individual's needs, i.e. I would make it for myself and if it works, to share it publicly, as I am sure those who suffer from having bunions would benefit extremely.  Unfortunately the products available on the market most of the time don't work (and is waste of money and resources), as all of us have different toes, feet, alignments etc. Any ideas on how to make such material at home and cheaply are very welcome. THANK you in advance! To peace and comfy feet for all! P.S. I have attached a few photos of these products to give you an idea of what I mean.  The silicone which is used is soft but sturdy enough, which doesn't hurt the joints of the toes.  It would be great to be able to mould these around flip flops (and other shoes) permanently - so that they don't move about.

500 Lb Thrust small jet engine? Answered

So the fun and crazy side of me has come out again and I have thought up some crazy plans for a jet powered wing suit.  I'm sure many of you have seen the swedish rocket man, he jumps out of planes with a small wing and 4 miniature jets strapped to his back.  That is cool and all, but I would like to look at building something a little more useful than fun, although I could imagine it would be a blast.  The idea is to design a large wing 8-12 feet.  It will be made extremely light, however extremely strong because the wing should be able to handle strong g-forces, tight turns along with possible above mach speeds (probably pushing the boundaries of sanity.  This will probably require a carbon fiber and aluminum structure while requiring a rigid wing surface as apposed to the lighter plasticy flexible covering used by smaller aircraft.  This wing will be able to take off and land, eliminating the requirement of a plane to haul it up and then also not necessarily requiring a parachute (one will be worn at all times)  The wing I imagine will not be any lower that hip height and will also have a v-tail for more control.  Now my question is if anyone knows of a small jet engine that exists and would fit this project,  It would also be possible to fit two, one on the underside of each side.  I am looking for 500 to 1000 lbs of thrust and they need to be very small, and lightweight.  Do any engines of this type exist.  I also may be out of my mind expecting to take off with that amount of thrust,  I just don't imagine the whole thing to weigh more than 200 lbs plus me weighing just under 200 lbs.  So 500 would ideally allow for vertical take off, however it would probably not be practical.  Would an engine with this amount of thrust be suitable for my needs or would I need 1000 to 1500 lbs of thrust.  One big goal is for the wing to be very efficient so I don't want to be wasting fuel, however it would be nice to be able to fly quickly for some local entertainment.  Maybe I would throw on some solar panels for the electronics as well. EDIT....... I found this http://jetbeetle.com/JB_body_products.htm This engine seems pretty substantial, would one or two of these be capable of doing what is needed here?

Fedora Design Suite Old Versions Downloads?

So recently I found out about the fedora spins and immediately wanted to try out the "Design Suite" version so I downloaded the version that was correct for my computer. I tried installing it and everything went fine until the end when Grub has a problem installing. So I reboot like your supposed to after any install and I am one linux distro short, no Fedora. So I was wondering if anybody had a DIRECT link to a download of an older version like core 15, or 14 design suite spin?

Life changes, New Boots! Not to mention a suit...

Well I finally went clothes shopping, a rare occurrence for me. Mainly I was looking for new boots, my old ones have holes worn right through them in the soles, which are detaching from the rest of them slowly, the metal spines fell out long ago via the holes... My new boots are 14 eyelet NPS, they're great, though breaking them in is a little rough on it, along with that they're the most expensive boots I've ever had, £105! the last ones were around £30 and so were most of my previous ones, though I did once make a pair of £10 boots last two years, by stapling the soles back on with a high power staple gun eventually. The suit's a good thing too! we were in TK Maxx, a cheapish store full of loads of stuff, I've gotten some interesting shoes from their random buckets before, so they were first port of call while returning jeans I'd been given that wouldn't fit me... I came off with a two piece suit instead, despite owning many vintage jackets and a couple of pairs of trousers I've never owned a suit, or a new suit jacket for that matter, which is cool... Last one, on sale perfect fit on me, well the jacket's only a 38" chest so it makes it a tight fit but not uncomfortable since it has a little play in it. The boots are good and very solid but I'm having to get used to the big soles on them since most of mine have been smaller than that, they look taller than they are on the outside though so it's not too bad. I'm proud of myself for making a decision on things in a day, it's not likely me to buy clothes unless they're impractical or over the top, well the boots may be a little... Also I've decided to quit smoking, went to doctors office on friday having set that date and the fool told me to go on through the weekend and wait until monday, saying that can be my date... I wasn't amused, however I have one left and it shall be my last... Along with this I've got a few job interviews lined up, it's hard getting a chance at jobs in these times but it's a start... My quitting smoking is directly related to 'ibles - I want money to fund projects, and I want money to socialize etc. Next week I shall have a project that's been long awaited by many if I get the metal working done in tech... Speaking of tech all is well there too, course is brilliant and I've been doing loads of interesting stuff. It's seems a bit odd to be posting all this stuff but many an 'ibler has given me abuse about smoking, though it was far beyond their rights to criticize me personally or make irrelevant comments I do think it's about time I quit, 5 years wasting money. Anybody else any life changes?Notable lack of lovelife rubbish, it's too topsy turvy to get in to without a ten thousand word essay...

sound-sensitive LED lights that respond to music, sewn into clothing

Hi there.   I'm new to the boards and off to the big festival in the desert next week.  Every year I make some kind of a flashing suit-- usually they are EL Wire -- which is kind of cool to dance in.  I recently took an Arduino course and I thought it would be great to make a jacket that reacted to sound.   Ideal:  Had a pot to deal with volume (of club music vs. speaking) and was able to power a row of LED's down each arm and possibly down the side of the torso. I have a board- I don't have time to program it- I'm wondering if anyone can help? I'm happy to sew it and all that stuff.  Yes, time is tight , but it doesn't have to be perfect! Let me know. There is some budget- not much but some.

What's a maker to do?

While my makings are scarce, I can safely qualify myself as a maker. Halloween is the maker's holiday, the one day of the year where you can make anything your heart desires, without anyone saying otherwise. And I get to miss out. I love making costumes, and I am jsut fascinated with the amount of cool yet easy costumes available on the internet each year. Well, my parents don't let me make aany of the ones I want. The answer- they require me to buy materials...... I am really sad. Last year, I saw the digitigrade(?) werewolf stilts. I was amazed at how easy it was! I made the stilts, and tried going for the full costume (They show how to make a werewolf costume step by step), but as soon as my parents learned I had to buy some fur, they put a stop to my making. That same year, I also found my ideal costume, a godzilla costume made from foam. You can guess the answer. Technically I could make it, from little scraps of foam from stores. My parents still said no, their justification was that after I make it, throwing it out was too hard (disposing of foam takes a lot of work). I have been nagging about that costume every month, but to no avail. This year, the guys that made the werewolf costume are at it again. This time, a cool dragon suit (Which I knew about since last year, I contacted them, and they gave me a cool piece of knowledge before anyone else!) I am not even gonna ask to make this one. Why must I love costumes? Any, just share any experiences where you've found ideal makes, but for some reason can't make them. Indy Mogul made a cool Hellboy Gun, which I was going to make an instructable of since they hadn't made one, but they (IM) said they were gonna make one too, they had jsut forgotten. By some sort of miracle, I'm still making the gun, and my parents haven't stopped me yet. I bought some plaster of paris, some 2x4s, a dowel, and other stuff. GuessI must be getting through to them? Finally, I leave you with this: Easy to make, but I have ***hole friends: (The second pic was the concept pic they showed me last year)

Aviary, an online graphics suite, is out of private beta

This happened some time ago, but I thought that maybe there are still some people who haven't heard about Aviary and would enjoy it.Basically, Aviary is a graphics suite (with, amongst others, a photoshop and illustrator-like program). It's nowhere near professional, but the programs are cool and easy to use. The big innovation here is that they run in your browser without the need to install anything, so you can access them anywhere. Besides that, the good people at Aviary try to build a community of artists so that you can easily share what you've made etc. Only a small part of the suite is available for free though , the image editor is free but the vector editor you need to pay for. I'd personally still rather use photoshop and illustrator, but the idea that it is possible to run complex programs like this so smoothly in your browser is quite intriguing.the link to check it out is obviously www.aviary.com
