Hi, I have coffee machine with small water tank. i want to put large water tank next to it so i would not need to refill it every time. my problem is that the water tank in the machine is not sealed, so if i put more water with a hose from bigger tank it will spill out.. How can i create bigger water tank next to it so the smaller tank will refill automatically? Thanks,

Some friends and I are looking to make some projects, mainly air powered. We have been looking for an air tank to hold the pressure before we discharge it but have been having problems finding the exact part. I have found lots of the air tanks to fill tires and stuff like that but I need something to hold a good amount of pressure and let it out in one big shot and can be charge with a normal car tire air compressor. -I need to know the exact name this items goes by. (Just "air tank" gives me the tanks for tire inflation) -I need to know a webite or store to purchase them at. (Home Depot or Grainger by any chance?)

If I were to have 2 seperate buckets, one with ground and the other with something like 9 volts nothing would happen because the 2 bodies of water arn't connected. If I were to join the two bodies of water using a wire would electrolysis take place?

I have recently acquired a 25 litre compressor on which the motor was seized so my plan is to replace the motor and pump with a couple of fridge compressors however the tank is more than 10 years old and although I cannot see any damage is their anyway to check it is safe to pressurize to 8 bar? it has 175PSI stamped on it so I assume its designed with that as the maximum working pressure but I want to know if I can get it checked as I don't want to blow myself and my garage apart if it bursts I'm in the UK

Hey guys, this is my first time on the forum section of the instructables! Not a bad place to be, really. So here's the thing. I have this old scooter that I've had for as long as I can remember. It was the very first thing I rode that was powered by a motor and my father bought it for me so I could get ready for my first motorcycle (Which was sadly stolen about a year ago :/). Last year, my dad went back to our hometown to visit family and he brought it back with him, but there was one problem. We have no gas tank for it. I have NO idea where it could have gone or why it wasn't brought back. Oh well though. I have this scooter, the same as Wesley666 does. I'm having trouble finding the gas tank on my own. Notice that there is a gas tank that I took from a weed eater just to try it out. But I'm not sure it would work out very well. I mean, look at the size comparison between the two? I also want to keep original parts on this nostalgic machine. Sorry if the pictures are oriented weird, but these are taken with my phone. You can see from the thread posted above there is a picture that shows a blurry close up to the gas tank and I can't really tell what it says. "Something EBR Motor". Long story short I need to get that gas tank, maybe even the gas line that comes with it, in order to get this thing working again. Does anyone know of the brand name of the scooter so I could get the original parts I need?

I am looking into a green power system but, I would need 4500 psi hydrogen tanks. They are way to small to be practical, even the large 144 c.f. ones (biggest I could find). Is there anything special about hydrogen storage tanks, or will any 4500 psi tank work, and does anyone know were to get big ones, like huge. If not, any ideas on how to fab one. I know a guy who is high pressure certified so he could weld it, but what thickness of metal is needed for say a 12" diameter tank about 10-15' foot long. (yea, that big)

I was think what was better? a Small tank with a higher pressure? or a large tank with a Lower Pressure? Of coarse if you had a small tank you gun would look better. This is how air rifles work... you break the barrel (push it down) and that push a pump in to a small tank at a high PSI, Thats why its hard to break the barrel. I was also thinking that if you had a Higher PSI in the air resivour it would release quicker?!. What do you think?

Hi Girls n Guys, I moved about 6 months ago from a house that had combi boiler to a house that has a hot water tank and standard boiler, Over this period we are using lots of hot water due to kids baths and bits, draining the tank too quickly, so the tank is in a cupboard just off the landing and was told I can get bigger tanks, the current tank is a 1050x450 and I'm looking at a 1500x450, Question is will I need to re-enforce the floor any more than its current state! Thanks Matt

Alright fellow instructables, here's the lowdown: I'm currently attempting to build a hand-held flamethrower that you only need one hand to use, sort of like a pistol. However, when I was looking at a diagram for a regular Army flamethrower, I realized something: The fuel tanks on the flamethrower werent pressurized, and the fuel was pushed out using a pressurized tank that was fed into the fuel tanks. Now here's my question: Because I'm just trying to make a little hand-held that I DON'T need to shoot 50 feet, can I skip the pressure tanks and just jump to a commercial fuel source, like one of those miniature camper stove fuel tanks? Thanks Outdoors!

Does anyone know how I can get (or make) one of the regulator / valve things that screws on to a disposable oxygen tank? I would use the regulator from a propane torch but it has to have left hand threads. All the ones on Google shopping and Ebay cost like $40 and I realy don't want to pay that much, I'm thinking more like $10 or $15. I could use a Nitrous Oxide dispenser like the ones used for making whipped cream instead if anyone knows how to get or make one for the same price.

I am creating a custom fish tank stand from 2x4s and sheet wood. I plan to paint it black but I ran into 2 problems when I decided I didn't want the hood that came with the tank. 1) The lighting. I have a pretty good history with LEDs so creating the lighting will not be too hard, only real issue I run into is sealing the lamp. I plan to use an acrylic sheet with holes drilled for the white and blue LEDs. White for day and a row of blue for moonlight on a 3 way rocker. I just dont want water to penetrate the holes from the ports for the light to damage the components. 2) The filter. This is where I am at a loss. I plan on making something similar to this: http://tinyurl.com/fishtankdesign But I have no idea how to an external filter rather than one of the regular table top aquarium ones that would not look very pleasing on a nice stand. Any ideas questions comments or concerns please ask.

My tankit has a mg. and uses no chain peaces. the only exotic peace it uses is a orange gear. like a yellow gear it has the pegs sicking out of it but only has half the pegs. it can be made by cutting off half the pegs if you want. not very power full but that is because i am using a clasic motor. the motor has to pull bach the ram so to much rubberbands and the motor can not pull bach the ram. if made with a beter motor it could be stronger.o and the last picture is of all my knex guns :)

I was looking through the internet, and was linked to this page. There they used a freon can for the foundry shell, but I thought those small helium tanks would work too. I kinda knew that a dremel wouldn't cut through it, but it is just what I put on there. I used Inkscape and GIMP to make it.Also, does anyone know a good source for fire clay? I've heard that masonry supply stores are a good bet. Another thing - does anyone know a good page on a cheap, simple, charcoal foundry? I made a .gif animation describing my ideas, below. In the animation, I meant to put the part about cutting the hole for the blower in the beginning, too (after I cut the top off).

I have a 50 gallon water tank in the basement and a solar tank on the roof. The roof tank is 35 ft above the basement tank and the top of the basement tank is connected at the bottom of the roof tank with 1/2 inch Pex with valves. Is there a simple way of pumping the basement water to the empty roof tank. Unfortunately I can't use city water pressure to force the basement water up to the roof. I am trying to transfer the basement water to the roof leaving the basement tank empty.

Question by just21 | last reply
I would like to ask a couple of questions about joining two external water storage tanks. The tanks have a capacity of 1,500 litres each and my plan is to connect the two tanks with one inch pvc piping. The domestic water inlet is low pressure (and that's being kind!) but tank A is usually full. My question is will there be enough pressure in tank A to feed water through the one inch pvc piping and into tank B without using a pump? If you consider the water pressure to be high enough to transfer water from one tank to the next, how many tanks could be connected in this way (I am thinking of four tanks)? The outlet from the water pump feeds 9 washing machines in a small launderette. Sorry about the awful drawing. Thanks for any advice in advance.

I have this 30 gallons tank which is 1/4 filled with water and some rocks for decoration. It is used to keep 2 turtles. However, my problem started a week later. A couple of flies are in my tank. I tried to clean the tank, but it was no use. The fly keep coming back. As my tank has no cover or hood, please help me find a way to remove those nasty flies. Thanks Sincerely, Shi Rong

There was a similar post to this one a couple of years back, the difference being that both my tanks are filled from separate branches of the same supply using a ball valve in each tank to stop them filling. I then have an outlet from both tanks connected together that then goes off to a pump. One tank is 5000 litres and the other is 3000 litres, currently the larger of the two is redundant and its outlet valve is off, but come the summer i will need to introduce the second tank. I am located in southern Spain and in the summer they turn off the water supply to save water hence the tanks. My question is as the tanks are of a different size, if i were to fit the smaller tanks outlet with a non return valve so that the larger tank can not fill the smaller one via the outlet pipe, would this work i.e. would the joint outlet pipe still feed the pump correctly or would it have more or less pressure. I appreciate that i could balance the two tanks, but i would much rather be able to use all the volume i can. Many thanks.
