Cracker placing machine

Hello I have for some time tried to come up with the design for making a machine that can place crackers (like "TUC") in a straight line.  I tried to place Carcassonne tiles in a stack with a hole, so one tile could slide down, but the weight of the other tiles makes this impossible to do. To this I thought of placing a continuous track under the cracker stack, but I would prefer to keep this simple.  The design of the machine could be like a trundle wheel, with a squared pipe for the crackers.  The idea: http://i.imgur.com/WAP3wgI.png I know the machine might sound very odd, but I hope that you can help me create this.  Thank you

Friends in high places

Evening all, Following on from what Jessy has already said, I'd just like to weigh in with my own views on life at Instructables and the company's decisions to work in cahoots with Autodesk. I've been an Artist in Residence at Instructables now for two weeks, and they've been an amazing two weeks. The atmosphere in the lab is the sort of laid-back but productive work environment you can only find among people who really love what they do. They work, they play, they somehow produce an awesome, widely-loved website. And now it looks like a big, grown-up company has decided that the site's awesome too. As far as I can tell, that's a good thing. Everyone at the Instructables lab seems genuinely, if cautiously, optimistic about what the new regime will mean for the company. A bigger company can provide more resources, taking some of the load of the team's shoulders so they can introduce new features and more extravagant contests. At the lab, there haven't been any changes. Everyone's still doing the same jobs they were doing a week ago and, yes, yesterday afternoon we were still up on the same roof, shooting shaving cream at the same intern. All is as it should be. Instructables is run by a small tightly-knit team of makers, so I think there were a few concerns about how Autodesk might try to warp the company to fit it into a standard, corporate mold. So far, Autodesk has been doing a good job of putting those concerns to rest. The success of Instructables is deeply tied up with its staff being a flexible little troupe of amiable nutcases and the managers at Autodesk seem to appreciate that. They know as well as we all do that if they mess with the winning formula, they'll only screw things up. Instructables is built on its community (that's you, reading this) and the community won't put up with any changes that make the site a worse place to spend time. If they try to screw the site up, you lot will rebel. If they try to make us wear ties, Randy will rebel. Their plan seems to be to nurture and support the site with funds, people and expertise while interfering relatively little with how it actually runs. We've been over to the local Autodesk offices to meet up with some of their employees and they seemed like a bunch of overenthusiastic, slightly geeky maker types. Which is to say, they seemed just like the rest of the gang here at Instructables and, as far as I can tell, just like much of the Instructables community. They're people who like to make things. A lot of them have been using Instructables for years. As a company to work alongside, they seem like a good fit. It will be very interesting to see where the site goes from here, but my gut feeling is that it will keep on doing the same things it's always done, just more so. Hopefully that's something we can all look forward to.

Is there a place to request an Instructable?

Is there a section on Instructables where you can suggest projects for someone to make?  Example, I would love to find an Instructable for a DIY wireless dog fence.  (searched -no luck). I am sure there is someone out there who can make one of these.  Or there are folks out there who have the smarts and would love to see what people would like to have.

A comments button next to the collection button

I thought as there seems to be a need for recognition (don't we all need that?) perhaps we could have a comments button next to the collections button to make it easily accessible so that we can leave a comment on an instructable that we like.  It would have a tiny comment box and you wouldn't lose your place in the instructions.

Help me find a place for an Instructables sticker! Win a patch!

I have an extra sticker from Instructables, but the problem is that I don't know where to put it.  I need your help to help me find a place to put it. Here's a few places where I can't put it: - iPod nano (already has an instructables sticker on it) - Cell phone (Already has an Apple sticker on it - Laptop (Already has Apple sticker on it) - Desktop (Already has Apple sticker) - Video camera (Sticker is too big to fit on the camera) I'm not putting it on low-ticket items like printers, or on fabrics like a backpack.  So if you can think of a place where I can put the sticker, post a comment.  If I like your suggestion, you win a patch.  Thanks for your help!

I keep feeling like I'm out of place in group calls

Whenever I get into a group call on Discord or something, I just get the nagging feeling that I don't belong in some way. Like, I may feel that people aren't acknowledging my presence, or that they don't really care to talk towards me. Am I the only one who keeps feeling something like this, in these situations? And, what can I do about it?

2 Different dreams in the same place?

I just realized that I had a dream this morning in the same location... twice. By that, I mean (in a gaming sort of fashion) you started playing a game, then halfway through, your mom called you and you had to save your progress. You then resume to your most recent progress in the game and continue playing. It felt something like that, and I can't explain how that happened (also given that I had the first one weeks ago). Out of curiosity, has anyone else experienced such a thing? And if so, what are they called (if at all)? ***It's been a while since I've done anything in Instructables lately.

Drill that is like a rotary tool.

I love my rotary tool, but sometimes it is just to fast. SOme plastics just melt, spewing hot plastic all over the place and some woods burn. A drill would work better, but the body does not handle as well as the rotary tool, plus I can't attach basic tools. So is there a drill that comes in a rotary tool body?

Why I like Instructables

In junior high and high school I was an avid reader of Popular Mechanics, Popular Science, and Mechanix Illustrated magazines. I liked the technical articles and the project plans. Many of them required tools about which I could only dream; like a bench or table saw, a drill press, a lathe, or a welder. Thankfully, in the intervening five or six decades I have access to most of those tools. Unfortunately, those magazines either no longer exist or have turned dramatically toward consumer interests and reviews in place of hands-on projects for the weekend handyman and home workshop. Instructables is a place where new projects appear daily. Some of them seem to me to be a little silly (hypothetical example: an environmentally friendly spit wad that doubles as a USB battery charger). But, some of them are solid useful things easy to do and of great benefit. I am greatly enjoying my new bicycle cadence meter from a recent Instructable. It has also been fun to post some things that I have found very helpful over the years.

Brian Ralph has some tips on how to draw a character? Who is Brian Ralph? I have no idea, but he put together an informative and amusing argument towards ditching those wooden dolls and the Marvel Way. In its place he recommends a looser style and more attention to shape and negative space.Worth a read even if you're still having problems getting your stick figures to look good. Search button not working in certain places.

On Windows 8 x64 and Chrome 29.0.1547.66 (Official Build 220848) m Steps: 1. Navigate to https://www.instructables.com 2. Ogle at the pretty search bar, typing in things to correspond with the background image, how nice! 3. Click on the pretty bar and type in "desks." Let's make it! 4. Click the search icon and watch as absolutely nothing happens. 5. Click to make the text field active again and press enter. 6. Stare down the pretty search bar as it still does not do anything. 7. Dismiss the pretty search as nothing more than a visual spectacle, not functional in any way, and feel slightly disappointed in the web designers. 8. Click on a random Instructable on the front page to get the familiar search bar on top. In my case, I clicked on "Inside-Out Baklava (Gluten Free, Raw) by DNA girl" on a whim. 9. Acquire familiar page setup and search bar on top! 10. Search for "desk," revel in joy as both search button and pressing enter works. 11. Check out those sweet desks! Decide to sort the results. 12. Change the type id from "Everything" to "Popular." 13. Press the search icon and enjoy as it does nothing. 14. Make the text field active again and press enter to search. Okay, this is where I have to stop doing step by step as there are too many inconsistencies to walk you through them all. From what I can see though, the type id selector is very very broken. Starting from the default "Everything," you can select "Popular" or "Featured to break the search button. Selecting "Technology," "Living," "Food," "Play," or "Outside" does nothing besides change the 3x3 square grid icon. The word "Everything" does not change to the selected "Technology" like it does for "Popular" and "Featured." However, if you open the selector again, you will see it highlighted in blue and pressing enter to search still applies the type id. On some occasions, clicking either "Workshop" or "Technology: will automatically apply the type id, without having to even search again, though I am unable to replicate this consistently. So that's that. I basically have no idea what's going on, but good luck, dudes. quick edit: trying to publish this forum topic gave me this error: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot set property 'innerText' of null lastpass_f.submit onclick This was not on page, discovered in Chrome's Inspect Element.  If I never find a way to post this, tell my family I love them. edit2: Finally managed to post this using Firefox Nightly, whatever the latest commit is.

Good place to get really good LEDs?

I have recently discovered that CREE has released some new XHP class LEDs awhile ago, and compared the the XML line that I have been a fan of, these ones seem to blow those out of the water. However, they are still somewhat $$$, although not too much. I would like to get my grubby evil hands on a few of the XHP70s, XHP50's, and XHP35s, but the "good" ones are out of stock on mouser and digikey. On amazon there are a few listings but they are overpriced and they do not list the binning or CRI of them. Any other reputable LED sellers? I want to see how well these would work to retrofit into either an existing el-cheapo XM-L flashlight as an upgrade, or a homemade lantern/portable floodlight. I basically want 80% or 90% CRI range and Neutral / warm white, preferably neutral. As you see I am not overly picky, but I want them for good usable indoor light quality. I have been impressed by the XML light output, but not the 6000K 70% CRI crap quality light like the ones I have produce. These LEDs are roughly twice as bright for the same physical size, and about ~30-50% more efficient. What I do want, however, is the highest binning available in it's class (aka the best ones.) Not for any particular reason (other than maybe bragging rights lol), but because I just can't bring myself to order comparatively less efficient ones with low/medium CRIs for pretty much the same basic price when I know damn good and well there are better ones for sale for only pennies more. Feels like I get cheated. :( Also if I order from mouser or digikey, I guess that means I would need to mount them to a star PCB myself, that might be a challenge. Since I do not have solder paste or a proper reflow oven, I prefer to not have to do that.

Instructable editor pastes content in the wrong place

When pasting content into the Instructables editor, the content doesn't always get inserted at the cursor's location. To reproduce:  1. Start a new Instructable, and edit the first step.  2. Enter some dummy text, followed by a newline.  3. Use the "formatting" menu to change the current format to "code".  A grey box will appear.  Place the cursor inside the box.  4. Copy some source code (from a separate editor or a separate tab) and paste it into the grey box. What should happen:  - The content on the clipboard is pasted inside of the grey box. What actually happens:  - The content on the clipboard is pasted immediately after the grey box. A partial workaround is to paste the code first, then highlight it and switch the formatting to "source".  Pasting the code when formatting as normal text causes the code to be modified, however (whitespace and newlines get mangled/combined).  Aside from being annoying, this can break code in languages where whitespace is significant (like Python).  The paste function should work as expected, and insert the pasted content as-is at the current cursor location. I am currently running Firefox v52.0.2 on Windows 7 (64-bit).

Plans or a place to order a bike rack for a 4-wheeler

Hey Folks, I'm looking for plans or a how-to for building a bicycle rack that mounts to a standard rear rack on a 4-wheeler. I looked a ball-mount hitch type bicycle racks (4-wheeler doesn't have a receiver hitch) for vehicles and they aren't going work. Ideally I'd like it to hold 2 bikes, but at this point I'd take anything. I just can't seem to find anything. Thanks!

TL;DR version at the bottom, below the line Oh you know, just one of those " I like x " situations, except with a twist. So yeah, I like this girl, we talk for short the small short talk (lasts for about 0.8 seconds). She might know that I have a crush on her (since about 30% of the class knows, of which 80% are friends with this person), but I'm uncertain. Either way, I'm not shy about that. The problem lies in the fact that the 24% of the class that's friends with her knows. Normally, they're always with / around her, which makes talking with her (in the first place) already challenging. Imagine maybe 4 people interrupting your conversation only 2 seconds in. It's like trying to play a video game with the worst ping ever; your talk getting interrupted and all. I would just like to have a chat with her that lasts over 15 seconds, at least, that doesn't involve official business (all talks with her so far involved school projects and such). To my assessment, she's astoundingly similar yet the opposite of me... She's simple, yet highly organized (that's me). She doesn't wanna stand out (like me). Generally silent, shy and reserved (somewhat like me, most of the time anyways). Now here's the part I would like to relate to, but I don't know how: music. She plays the piano, and I play the violin. Now, these are performing arts; you perform these in front of people. We don't play the same instruments, therefore we can't talk about it. Composing a piece? Not a chance. That's my work mode wherein I become secluded from the world (bad impression). Intention: I would just like to make friends, thank you very much (did it last year, too, though without the complications) Age: 13 turning 14 (me) and she's 13 More details: -Freshmen -I can control myself, thank you Additionally: I don't know if she likes me or not. I just need to become friends with her to clear some things up and... make more friends? I'm not bringing my hopes up, though. I have an opportunity to start off our friendship (which is due in less than a week), since we have this Christmas party going and we're supposed to have a gift exchange with a "randomly chosen" person which is done by just pulling out folded pieces of paper and.. yeah, there's the name. The wishlist is simple, yet a tad pricey (just roughly $10, but compared to my allowance). This is getting too long Questions: -How do I make friends now? -How do I sustain this? I'm not good at making friends. I either attract them to me or it was a need that developed. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________ TL;DR version: I like a girl and I want to make friends with her, but then I can't talk with her because of massive external social pressure from her ever-present friends that know I have a crush on her. Best LOCAL Places/Stores For Electronic Parts.(Besides Radio Shack)

Where to place an HPA paintball tank on ur gear?

I am new to paintball and i just recently purchased an HPA 3000 psi/72 ci air tank. I have a remote line due to the shear weight of the tank and stress on the valve threads of the gun. I do not wear a pod belt as i have chest mounted pods. I would like to know what best spot to where such a size tank is. I am thinking a belt with a pouch on it facing side ways toward my gun arm. Any ideas on the best postion? (I have a tailor that will make me a custom belt/strap or w/e for it plus the pouch so shape is not a factor)

Where would be a good place to find a cheap, but nicely bound book?

I'm working on a project where I I'd love to have a finely bound book, (leather, gold leaf, etc) but I don't care about what the book is about since I'll be removing all the pages. Where should I look for something like this?  I'd hate to buy an heirloom just to ruin it.  The few fine used book stores I've looked at didn't have anything like this.

Photos on tiles I'm wanting to place photos onto tiles?

I have many pretty photos of animals and scenes, as these are my own photos I would like to incorporate them into the home decor. I already have many framed and think tiles would be a good option. The end result being a washable surface. I am open to new suggestions of ways to display my photos.

Can a silver necklace be used like Colloidal Silver ? Answered

Collodial Silver (silver ions in suspension - usually water) is supposed to have antiseptic properties. Do you think it would be enough to simply place a piece of solid silver jewellery into water to get more or less the same effect - even if the item was left in solution for, say, a week or so?
