Time

Did anyone can slove this ????? You are going to make an item that's about time. You are free to interpret the term of time as you please. Examples may be special moments, repetitions, everyday events, or major events. Think about what expression the item should have. You can use shapes, colors, moving parts, technologies, humor, and the like. You can use the materials and techniques you want.

timed detonator

Ok, I LOVE airsoft, as many do. I wanted to make a time bomb detonator for different missions, where we could set the time and your squad would have to get there and disarm it. All it would do if we didn't make it in time is set off a smoke bomb. That way everyone would know the game was over. but I do not know where to get a battery powered alarm clock. (the dollar store doesn't sell them) does anyone know where to get one?

time travel? Answered

Well i have a theory, but don't know if it's right. according to timedilation, time will go slower for you if you get closer to light speed. if you want to completely travel around the earth with light speed, it would only take 40.074000 : 299.792.458 seconds, which is 0,13367247550970745234691661255868 seconds. so you would experience it as 1.3 seconds. but because time for you goes very, very, very slow at that moment, the 1.3 seconds could be more then a million years! so, here it comes: if you travel so fast that 'your' time goes very slow, then the actual time would be more then if you traveled at normal speed. is that right, or am i completely wrong?

Time is weird

Huh. I just realized that I have now lived in the house I'm in (and consequently, my two oldest children have lived here - the youngest has another year or so to go) longer than I lived in the house where I consider myself to have "grown up" (ages 8-19 or so.) As a side effect, this also means that I've lived here longer than I've EVER lived any place else. It doesn't really feel that way; I don't know whether time is compressed as your get older, or stretched when you're young (probably both.) Time perception is weird...

Electr'Ocarina of Time

Hi there! Okay so here i am with this idea i've been tackle with for weeks. Hold tight it's a long presentation. Brief Basically, i would like to make en electronic version of the Ocarina of time from Zelda. I would like to keep it really simple at least for the first step. So it will look like a proper ocarina but instead of holes there will be 6 arcade buttons ( Red, Green and 4 yellow as a reminder of the N64 gamepad buttons). Each button is assigned a note wich will be played while blowing through a microphone. The sound will be a synthesized sinewave that would be played thanks to a speaker. Will be great also if the device could work on a USB chargeable battery. I Have been doing researches on how to make it for a while now, though could'nt find exactly what i was looking for and not sure how to fit different parts together to make a worrkable fork. So i believe i have two options. As you may guess i am fairly new to electronics, programming and electronic music (Lol i read that all the times). To be as clear as possible i am gonna put some schemes of how i picture myself the electronic but i really don't know how it's supposed to be managed, i mean i know there will be some resistors, capacitors or whatever between the "function blocks" i draw but i have absolutely no clue of what should actually really appear. Option 1 - Analog So i made this stylophone few months ago : https://www.instructables.com/id/A-Stylophone/ It is based on a 555 timer (i also saw some mini synths based on this component). It felt to me as a good starting point. Volume would be controlled through the mic instead of a pot and i would get rid of the pitch pot and all the unecessary notes. But i would like it to sound more fluty and so i found this tuto on how to make a sinewave but don't know how to use it in this project (or even if possible) : http://www.learningaboutelectronics.com/Articles/Sine-wave-generator-circuit-with-a-555-timer.php Regarding the microphone part I've also seen this insctrutable but the synth seemed to me way over what i planed to do in terms of sound synthesis ability : https://www.instructables.com/id/Arduino-Flute-Synth/ Option 2 - Digital So comes option 2 wich consist in using an arduino to synthesize the wave that would play if microphone is HIGH and if button 1 is High key 1 would be played etc. The scheme I provided seem definitely wrong to me but that's a first shot anyway. About sound synthesis with arduino i found this library i havent gone through the tutorial yet but it seem a little bit picky. http://sensorium.github.io/Mozzi/ So as you see i am kinda lost and a little clarification would be awesomely nice. I am actually working in a fablab and i would like to develop this project to be used as a workshop. Im pretty sure lots of old grown up kids would love to get a little ocarina. There are some other options i would like to implement (regarding what happend if you press several buttons or none) but well first things first. Hope you like the Idea, hope you can help. Love, Starsheeps and Electro-cupcakes! Adrien

Calculate and Display Reaction Time/Elapsed Time

I got my son an Auto World Pro Racing Dragstrip for Christmas.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3SNzDs_NJI  Great fun out of the box with the starting tree that alerts false starts and  identifies the winner at the end of the track.  It does this with electric eyes in the track for each lane that see when a car passes over it.  Like I said, great fun, but we would like to see 1) the driver's reaction time - the time it takes from the time the light turns green to the time the car moves across the eye at the start - and 2) the elapsed time - the time the car moves across the eye at the start to the time the car crosses the finish. Ideally, this would be displayed for each lane until reset.  Total elapsed time and MPH are typically displayed in real life... http://atthedragstrip.com/dragstrip101 I believe this can be accomplished using the existing components in the Auto World kit and an Arduino.  The following instructables could prove useful... https://www.instructables.com/id/Arduino-Controlled-Finish-Line/?ALLSTEPS https://www.instructables.com/id/After-Dinner-Reaction-Time-Tester/?ALLSTEPS https://www.instructables.com/id/Reaction-Timer/?ALLSTEPS I am open to all... better ideas, off the shelf solutions, delivered product, or help developing solution.  This is something I think I could do with step by step instruction but not something I would attempt on my own.  I know just enough to get me in trouble.

Fireworks time delay?

I want to set off a few fireworks on the night of my wedding aniversary, and rather than run off and light the fuse, or rely on my dopey brother, I was after a time delay with, say, a watch? So I could set it for 10pm and bamoo.. 10pm we outside enjoying drinks, and a few fireworks go up! I have seen somewhere a guy light a match with a cheap electronic watch using a strand from a ball of steel wool, but I forget exactly what he did and where I saw the video now.. If I could copy that I could use the match to light the fireworks! Any ideas like that would be great.

DC time delay? Answered

Here's the situation-I close a switch completing a circuit, providing DC power to a load(6 volt,0.1 A).But I do not need the load to start functioning as soon as the switch is closed i.e,only after a delay of say..30 seconds.I googled for "Time delay circuits" but the ones I got were either dealing with AC or the transistor -capacitor(Time Constant) based circuits that makes a load function for a preset time after the circuit switch is opened.I think I could achieve this "pre-delay"  with elements such as transistors, resistors, capacitors etc. but I can't figure out how. Please suggest possible circuits that can be used to achieve my purpose.

I would also like to be able to start/stop and reset the timer. I need a couple of them, and wiring the LEDs are simple enough, it's the time delay that's throwing me. Any assistance would be great.

I want to have a time control circuit connected to the pump  where I can adjust the A) interval in which the pump is triggered B) the length of time the pump runs for. Time constants of batteries ?

Hi,I'm trying to figure out the way solar battery charger work and I'm a bit confused about the following point.I read that for batteries you could consider the PWM voltage to be equivalent to DC. This I understand well for average voltage (obviously it's the same), but what about the dynamics ?If your PWM frequency is something like 100 kHz, that's a 10 µs period. Does the battery has time to follow and make big voltage and current peaks or does it just averages all that to more decent values ?One way to put it is : Are the battery time constants indeed much bigger than the PWM period ?Thanks for any idea on that topic !

Prize arrival time?

Hello, I am aware that the contest info says that it may take up to 12 weeks to receive a prize won in a contest and it has only been 8ish, but I was contacted by the instructable robot stating that my prize (3d printing contest) had shipped from the instructables headquarters on the 11th (just over 2 weeks ago) and the prize has not yet arrived. I'm not sure what the normal shipping time is, and I don't mind waiting. However, it would be nice to know that nothing is wrong and to know the progress of the package. I was told that there would be a tracking number for the package but never received one. Is there a tracking number? When should I be worried about a prize taking too long to arrive? Thanks,  Matt

Time lock box? Answered

Hey I've seen the movie city of ember and there you have a box that locks itself from the inside, only to open again once the preset time has expired. I'd love to make one for a friend of mine (and for me as well), who's always distracted during the examination, so he could lock his distractions away for the time needed. I browsed hours to find timers and count down circuits. the best things that I could find, never were longer than e few hours or a day. but for this project it should at least last a month. I got a weird Idea of hooking up egg timers in series, so if the first one ends, the next one starts, until your last one finished that opens the box (the more I think about it, the more it's sounding impossible to do) the next best thing that would simplify the build was an arduino, but since these are essentially tiny computers I think it would be a wast to just let them count down. (and doesn't a arduino consume a lot of power too?) and I would like to only use an arduino as last resort... you can make robots out of these little board, it would be too tempting to pull it out of my project and try to make something cool with it. would any of these idea's work descent? does anyone know what could be the best way to pull this off? thanks
