Included Germany's fastest Highspeed train ICE with a top speed of 330 km/h(!) No one did that before. So, there's a lot of video on the youtubes about him faking his death... It's possible someone is trying to claim the fame - or he really did fake it for a variety of reasons... In any case, it's still quite an amazing feat - but he did it, now you don't have to :p

I wanted to make / fabricate an instrument for my railroad project which will have an input of 220 VAC and out put will be varying between 0 to 16 VDC (Potentiometer) and will have an arrangement to change the direction of train (forward and backward). I will be very much thankful to you for guiding me in this regard by giving me a list of components and circuit diagram thereof. So I used to be really into Model Trains. I'm fascinated by miniature scenes. I've been toying with an idea for some time that I need input on. I want to make a scene inside of a shadowbox. I plan on using the N scale/gauge for this. The basic idea is to take a shadowbox about 12" square or so and top-down-view diorama in it. I'd like to incorporate a stream and maybe a small building or something. I'll sacrifice a few box cars and maybe a Loco for this too. Any ideas or input on what to add? or anything else for that matter?

I live on a lake and want to put in some fun stuff for fun and training.  Free stuff is a plus...budget is $50 or so.  Must be able to take out of the water in the fall. First idea I had was to anchor some of those (closed) blue 50 gallon barrels so that people could try and stand on them and fight each other.  I haven't tested this out yet...they may be just too unstable.  I also have to figure out how to tie and anchor them to a cinder block on the bottom of the lake so they can just stay there and float.  Any ideas? Other things....log rolling....diy diving board....let your imagination go.  i haven't found any pics or sites on the internet on this topic, so any ideas appreciated. Thanks!

I have made a simple maglev train, using Electromagnets. It uses repulsion. and everything is working....except Propulsion. How can I propel it? I can remake the project if required.

I have old train from Marklin Hobby 2905 set  When i turn on train PSU i can hear relay working but train doesnt move (motor doesnt work)  I have tested motor with multimeter and it beeps (coils are ok) and when i tested electromagnet it also beeps Can somebody show me how to repair it?

A train that doesn't ever stop or slow down? Sounds ridiculous (ly efficient). This design is a pretty interesting take on the concept, though liability issues and real-world feasibility will probably keep this from ever making it past the drawing board.Link

My high school is doing Hello Dolly and if possiblelwould like a train to be brought on stage, does anyone have ideas on how to do that? I have a couple but I'm having trouble bring all of it to one idea. I had an idea you can make hand turnable axles and gears for the wheels, other stuff for the smokestack, I was thinking maybe corflute for the body, but its really just chaos in my head right now. Any suggestions?  It needs to be fairly lightweight.  It would be nice to have workable wheels  And not a real smokestack obviously but the appearance of smoke and a whistle Maybe a back platform if at all possible that Dolly could jump on... Our stage is small. It has no special things about it and its roughly 20 by 30 feet. There are two backstage wings that are really just small hallways that let out into the audience, and those are about 20 feet long.  Our plays are all financed by the drama teacher herself so the less expensive the better as well.  If nothing comes up thats ok too. We have an alternative that can be used.

Sup all! I'm really interested in becoming a modern ninja, so I googled it a bit. In order to be an urban ninja, I will have to learn parkour and the highlighted of the traditional 18 ninja skills, others will be useless.(Horsemanship? It's Urban Ninjutu, in a city...) I want to focus mainly on unarmed combat, followed by stick, staff and sword techniques and weapon throwing. The rest is stealth, to sneak into places without being detected. That should make me a basic ninja. Finally, after I'll know these, I will study the less important skills - the italic skills.  What I ask for help is, to give me a good DVD or a book that will teach me either parkour or Taijutsu(unarmed combat). These are the things I want the most, explained before. I prefer the course to be free, like an online study course.

I have had doxies (weiner dogs) for about 10 years now...I have adopted a couple that had bad habits.  Of course they were too old to try and housebreak by the time I got a hold of them.  I have a doggie door, so they have free will to come and go.  Presently we have 2 girls, one is very polite and will get up at night in the snow and go outside.  The other is a couch potato, she will use my carpet if it is 80 degrees outside in the spring.  I adopted her when she was 2 years old.  She does not urinate in the living room anymore, but she does the other thing and also in my kitchen.  I cannot crate her.  Any suggestions?

I am thinking of running machine shop training courses in the UK for those interested in learning how to really use lathes and other big shop equipment. The idea is subject to insurance company permission etc. but I wanted to gauge if there was any potential interest from people here (obviously only those based in the UK, unless you really want to commute) I'd expect costs to be something like 50 GBP per day + materials, and no more than two or three people per session, keeping the ratio of machines to people as 1:1. We'll probably try and do "group projects" as well as bring your own. The idea of group projects is that every ones gets to make more than one of something, to get techniques sorted out, and then we combine everyones work into assemblies - collaboration at its finest. The Guided Busway Essentially, this is like a railway for buses- a narrow concrete "road" open only to modified buses, following the path of an old railway to link commuter destinations together. Supporters say it's more practical than a rail link (as buses can drive straight off the end into town roads), opponents say the concept is flawed and that building a traditional railway would be cheaper. The buses are apparently "100% biofuel powered", though I'm having a hard time finding out exactly where those biofuels come from. The future of transportation, or greenwashed white elephant? Update 30-03-2010: I thought I should update this in light of bassman's comments, and because of something I wrote last October: "the busway is due to open in a few weeks (so by our bureaucracy time, make that spring 2010)" Well, it's spring 2010 and this morning on the train to work I finally saw a bus on the busway.  It was marked "not in service" and was populated by half a dozen men in high-vis jackets, so I assume it was a test run of some sort, but at least there is life on it.  Maybe I'll be able to post more about it before 2011?

I have a Lionel 2046 engine  It has three windows. It is Heat Stamped on one side and Rubber Stamped on the other side. Does anyone have any idea what year this engine was manufactured? Thank you.

The Shinkansen trains in Japan were already plenty speedy at 188 mph (300 kph), but now they're going to be upgraded to 217 mph (350 kph). I rode the train a few times a while ago and totally loved it. The countryside flew by as you tucked into a bento box. It was great and it was so comfortable.Here in California there's a proposition on the upcoming ballot to pass a bond so that we can have a high-speed rail that takes you from SF to LA in 2.5 hours. I don't have a lot of reasons to go to LA, but when I do it would be nice to avoid playing the airport game (everyone loses!) or the driving game (slow down for the car crashes!). To finally get a high-speed train would be a dream.Going metric would be nice, too. 350 kph sounds much better than 217 mph. Link

Pets, like kids, learn where to pee n poo.  Basic courtousy and hygiene. To what degree this is training, or instinct, I dont know.   Once in a blue moon, a pet vomts, coughs up hairballs, just about anywhere in the house,  or sneezes in one's face. Since these things are much less frequent, training to do em in the litter box, or into a hanky is less likely to take. Kids eventually learn where to go when nauseous, why not so with dogs, cats, etc. Any idea of how to acheive this higher level of consideration?

I inherited a Lionel Train set but can't determine when it was made. The Locomotive has 027 on a Metal plate on the bottom and 2026 on the side. I'm trying to determine what they might be worth. Has several cars and a tender for the Locomotive. One car is a Baby Ruth Box Car. Has Tracks but no Transformer to test it out. Any Lionel Train buffs out there that can help?

The real tilt train only tilts 5 degrees each side of level for cornering but it uses a different method of controlling the tilt which may be too difficult in 1/6th scale so that is why I was thinking of the airbags as they are also on the real train. I am also looking at putting a video camera in the loco cabs with monitors in each carriage just like the real ones.

 I am working on a shelf-train that will circle my son's room. I want to add lights to the boxcars using LED, which means the power would come from the tracks. That means AC power, variable from 0 to 18 VAC, with 5-6VAC the average use power. What is the best way to do it? Should the power be rectified? And how do you deal with the variable power source?  I also plan to control the transformer with an arduino. Bonus points for any advice there! Thanks

I train leg until the muscles completely fatigued with a load of weight I can handle, only the other day I do not feel pain, and they say not feel pain when pq is the training did not help anything, I just feel the calf, but the back and I do not feel the quadriceps, help me, what I do to feel the pain the other day? I already tried to change but to no avail

Here is my entry for the T.N.K.I.T. A huge K'nex locomotive. Including whistles, seats, a passengers cabin, drivers cabin and a (moving) cloud of steam coming from the top! It uses the Trekker engine and rides on the old rollercoaster track.

For school, I need to pretend to be a party planner and plan a party for 8 year old boys. The theme that I chose was cars and vehicles, so my classmate came up with the idea of using a sushi train like thing to transport cupcakes around the table. Is there any way to make one? It doesn't have to be an actual sushi train. It could just be a conveyor belt, or a train set modified. But what I really want to know is the cost. Thankyou in advance! =D

I'm in nursing school right now and would like some extra practice practicing inserting IV's. My school as this training arm and I would like to make something in the vein :) of this http://www.enasco.com/product/LG02131U, I thought about starting with a forearm sized piece of PVC and maybe attaching some very small rubber tubes to the outside and then covering everything in a small sheet of a flexible material that could be penetrated with an IV needle. Any suggestions?

My rabbit is named Bunny. She is a lion head dwarf and shes really smart when she wants to be. She only wants to be potty trained when she feels like it. One day she will do really well, not leaving a single dropping on the ground. Then other days she makes a mess and i'm very tired of deep cleaning my carpets all the time. I first started by keeping her in a small area, the bathroom. When she was caching on I started giving her more space. Now, I have bunny proofed my room and it's now her room and she was doing really well with the training for wile. I have about 6 litter boxes all around my room, but now she never uses them and I don't know what to do. Nothing is working for me.

One hunting group's web site publicized training workshops featuring a caged live porcupine to teach dogs to avoid porcupines. Porky quills are my biggest fear to letting a dog go off leash. I would like to know what the technique is for training a dog so that it doesn't learn the hard way to avoid porkies.

Super easy and cheap fix to make potty seat fit elongated toilet seats!   Materials needed: 1/2" pvc pipe 7.5" long total length, rubber tape that sticks to itself (fixes leaks in plumbing pipes) and one child's toilet seat with hook slot at rear of seat. Cut 45 degree ends on each end of the pvc - or measure your toilet seat from underneath.  Put rubber tape on ends of pipe, tape pipe to toilet seat using the "hook" hole underneath - rotating pipe so that it "grabs" the toilet seat as shown on photo #2.  You can use a little longer pipe if you want - this just ended up being 7.5 inches for me - but you want to force the seat to be at the very front of the adult toilet seat.... Hope it works for others! Pam

My son wants to be able to permanently keep his model train layout fully made up, but we have no space in the house.  I was thinking of making a model display table for in the garage but need a way to easily lift it into the roof space for storing.  The table would need to be kept horizontal while lifted otherwise the trains would fall off the tracks.  I hope the table to be approx. 10' x 6' and presumably lifted from a minimum of 8 points (4 corners + 2 on each long side)
