Micro Transceivers

Some years ago my university employees had trashed away some brand new stuff, included these micro ethernet tranceivers. I'm unacquainted regarding this equipment... does someone have some information about those specific models, and especially some idea about how to utilize them in a diy project? How they works? Bluetooth Transceiver for headsets with a mic

Hello Everyone, I would like to build a module that is a Bluetooth transceiver that I can connect to a two-way radio. Interesting TAP handle tech question \ quest.

Here's a weird one for  you guys. I recently bought a Beer tap handle and noticed that it had an insert that had some LEDs on it. Cool. The problem is that the LEDs don't light (beyond a tiny SMD red LED heartbeat). I found a small button that when depressed seems to trigger a test. Bright white LEDs on the top and bottom flash to illumnnate the top of the tap (either a clear baseball or FIFA tap topper) as well as the body. It's hollow plastic so it briefly glows. The problem is that I can't figure out how to light the things beyond the test (for which you have to remove it from the handle). The guy who sold it to me said they've sold lots like this and could never figure it out. I figured light sensor? nope. Tilt sensor so it'll flash when you pour a beer. Nope. I broke out  my loupe and noticed a funky thing on the circuit board that looked like it had an antenna. It was an Anaren A1101R09A. This thing is a radio tranceiver!  That tells me there was a remote with it that was lost in the few days after they bar got their new tap handle. Does that sound right? If so I was wondering where I could get or build another. I could put together some other LED solution, but I'd love to get this to work. HEre's a pic of the tap handle and the insert laying on it's side. The right side is the up side with the transceiver. It's blue if you look closely. Not sure I'll get a solution, but there's some clever people here, so you never know. Thanks for reading.

Device to warn two atv's if they are getting too far away from each other

I'm trying to find a way to warn one atv rider if the other rider is getting too far away.  Basically a device that you could mount on each atv that would have a red light and a green light.  The green light would be on if both riders were like say very close to each other or up to 1/4 mile away.  If the atvs would get more than 1/4 miles from each other a red light would turn on letting the riders know they are getting separated.  Thinking a low power radio transceiver that every 10 seconds or so would send out a signal that the other would pick up so the green light would stay on, if they two radios were out of range and didn't pick up a signal after 20 seconds or so the red light would come on until they got back into range then the green light would come back on. Basically a warning device to let each other know if they are getting out of range.  An example would be two atvs riding on trails following each other.  If the atv following got stuck, broke down or stopped for any reason the lead rider would be alerted that the other rider is not in range so they could stop and wait or turn around.  Anyone know a device to do this or an easy way to build one.

Is there a durable, waterproof UHF HT that will accept AA batteries?

By waterproof, I of course mean "weather-resistant." I'm looking for an UHF HT that will be just fine if it gets dropped into a lake or falls off an ATV. It doesn't need to float; I can attach a floating keychain to it if necessary. It should also have a AA battery tray that is available from the manufacturer, and still be waterproof with the AA tray. Ideally it would have a keypad. Do you have personal experience with a HT that meets these requirements?

Help starting out with nrf24L01+ transceiver and arduino

Recently I bought 6 nrf24L01+ boards like this with the intention of experimenting with them to potentially be embedded in some projects as a low cost solution to wireless communication. so far I've had some luck but nothing consistent. the test set up right now is an arduino uno and a arduino on a bread board. most of the information I used is from here. so far I get mostly failed communication and timeouts pretty much the same as what is listed here. I feel like this is a one sided issue where one arduino will send out information but it won't read it back in even if something is sent back. hopefully someone can help shed some light on this dilemma because it seems like a reacquiring problem with no solution. Thanks for any help in advance.

how to make 2-way optical fiber comm. system?

Hello, I’m doing my project about 2-way (full duplex) optical fiber communication system. From what I knew, currently there is only 1-way (half-duplex) optical fiber communication system. Thus, I need to upgrade this system to be in 2-way communication system. How to make it? Can I just replace the transmitter and receiver with the transceiver in order to make it and how? Really need help..TQVM in advanced.

Some time back you offered projects from a GadgetGangster.Com.  That link is no longer valid so I'm wondering if you have any further details how I can get in touch with Nick McClink who was the owner and engineer behind their products. In particular, I'm interested in the 4 Channel DMX Transceiver ( https://www.instructables.com/id/4-Channel-DMX-transceiver/ ). 7MHz transmitter for ham radio? Answered

I have a problem in the programming of Arduino Uno,2 motors,Qik2s9v1 and Pololu IR Beacon Transceiver. Help please!

I'm trying to make a robot like Micromouse robot.  Do not know much about Arduino. I've been trying to program, but I could not. This is my problem; I searched the programming provided by the Arduino Wed, for each of the components that constitute my robot.  When I go to work with motors and qik2s9v1, not I get the connection and the programation, for this.  Because, when I enter the programming qik2s9v1 tells me 'NewSoftSerial' does not name a type, download the codes of NewSoftSerial and fallow the problem. Well, if anyone can help me with my problem, or if you know a program similar to the components that constitute my project. I would be very grateful.

Can you wire IR devices together? Answered

Can you wire ir devices together?  I'm not sure how exactly IR emitters/transceivers works but if you connect the line going to the IR component directly to the line in the other IR component in the other device, would you have a fully functioning wired connection?  This is for something simple, below the tech of your normal tv remote, like a dollarstore rc car.

Does a PS2 Rock Band guitar controller work with the PS3 Guitar Hero games, and if so, how do I connect it?

A family friend had a PS2 Rock Band drum kit and guitar controller lying around, and I bought them off of him. The drums aren't a problem, but the guitar controller won't connect. I plugged in the USB transceiver, checked the batteries, checked the power switch, but it still won't connect. Any reasons?

Bluetooth dongle connecting to another bluetooth dongle?

Hello, I'm working on a project that requires bluetooth connectivity between two  devices over 3.5mm ports. A good explanation and example of a USB interface circuit?

 Every USB circuit I come across seems to be about the same with D- and D+ clamped to 3.6 volt with a zener diode. These wires are then passed to uC's io pins. Am I correct in thinking this setup doesn't take advantage of USB's differential signaling scheme? Because I thought an op-amp was needed for differential signaling. Does anyone know of a good resource, with circuit examples, that explains how USB transceivers work? I'm not interested in the actual protocol (NRZI, and all) I already understand most of that, what I'm really looking for is circuit level stuff.

Can I use a 555 timer IC to make an amateur radio?

                    I'm thinking about starting to do amateur radio, but I don't want to pay a ton of money for a transceiver.  In theory, couldn't I use a 555 timer with a frequency modulated by a microphone to generate FM, which could then be amplified and transmitted?  Just curious about it.  Also, couldn't one do the same thing in reverse, just finding a way to tune a 555 or something so that it would output audio when tuned to a specific frequency from an antenna?  Just a thought.

Creating a 433.92MHz receiver to read active RFID tags.

For my senior project I am using an active RFID tag and I need to be able to read it from a range of distances, ideally it can be read from 200ft away. I've been able to find active tags for a reasonable price, but I can't find active readers for less than $500. I am hoping there is a way to create my own reader. The frequency active tags use is 433.92MHz do you think I could use a RF receiver or transceiver to read the tags? I'm going to be using the Arduino Uno.

Can IR light from an Infrared LED pass through semi-opaque acrylic?

I'm making a modification of the Table for Electronic Dreams (https://www.instructables.com/id/Table-for-Electronic-Dreams/) and want to expand it with white LED's that turn on and get brighter as an object above it gets closer to the surface of the table (I'll be replacing the LED's in the original instructable with blues).The only (and thus, the cheapest) way I can think of sensing this distance without cutting holes in the upper piece of acrylic is to use an IR transceiver on the circuit board and connect this to the white LED. Would this work? I'll be using .25-inch white acrylic if that makes a difference.Any assistance that you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Full Duplex Wireless Audio

Hi, I'm in need of some help with a project I'm working on. I'm looking to build a handsfree two way audio communication circuit but I've been getting very confused when looking at material online and don't know where to look or how to even start. I've been looking into full duplex communication but I have no idea how to implement this in a circuit I could build. I'm confused as to if I would need a microcontroller (probably an arduino) or not and what transceivers and antennas to use. I need a fairly easy 500 Mhz to 3 Ghz signal generator schematic

It needs to be fairly simple to make, my resources are a bit low again, and it doesn't have to generator a lot of different frequencies, just one or so within the range of 500 mhz - 3 ghz. Everything I found on line was either more complex then building a 40 meter transceiver, or was ready built and only cost $200 + Even if there was a source I could purchase, for under say $30, I would take that too. I need it to test my newest rig. I don't want to have to resort to something like this project here...

How to wirelessly transmit information to an Arduino?

So basically I am creating a movement based remote control. The movement is being handled by a MPU-6050 (3-axis accelerometer and 3-axis gyroscope). The idea is to transmit the data to an Arduino that is off the controller on its own hub. The best I've found are these transceivers: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E594ZX0/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc;=1∣=A3GQ2RR1HCHKCZ  The problem with these is that they require an Arduino on both the transmitting and the receiving end. This project is very space limited and I doubt i could even fit an Arduino nano inside. Is there any method of acheiving this that would make use of the space more efficiently or should I just focus on making the casing larger and finding room for every component? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

usb over fiber optic cable

My house was once part of a business that was connected to neighboring structures via fiber optics for Internet.  I want to put in a security system with some usb cameras and of course we know what those limits are.  I have successfully made 25' usb/cat5 cables using this site... they work great but I need 50 - 60'.  I was wondering if it was possible to utilize these fiber cables for the data side of the usb and somehow power it by other sources?  I know a little about fiber like putting in connectors and such and I do have 2 transceivers.  I can make rj45/usb connectors for the tranceiver ends but I'm just not sure of the details or even if I'm barking up the right tree.  I'm not sure where the power fits in either. Any of you geniuses know how I could do this? Thanks

How small could you make a working computer?

I originally wrote this as a reply to rimar2000 in another forum.  It seems sufficiently interesting to warrant a separate discussion thread.How small could you make a fully-operational personal computer (say, something with the capability of a Netbook).  I think the technology already exists to make one the size of a deck of playing cards: Hundreds of GB of storage in something the size of a little MP3 player WiFi transceivers fit inside a standard USB "thumbdrive" casing Projected keyboards could be integrated (not a separate box) The same technology could make an RGB projected display A small footprint CPU (maybe with "embedded Linux") ought to be practicalWithout a big display, hard drive, etc., you don't need much power at 5V to drive everything.  A standard cellphone battery (say 3.7V, 1000 mAh) ought to be enough to run such a machine for a couple of days between charges.I'm not competent enough as an electronics engineer to prototype something like this, but it seems like a really great challenge for the DIY experts out there.  How small could you make a working PC using existing current technology?

Standby mode for an ASK RF transmitter and HT12E combination? Answered

Hey,     I am working on a project that uses the HT12E encoder to encode binary codes and an ASK RF transmitter that transmits the data at 433 MHz.It will be received by their respective counterparts i.e,HT12D and ASK RF receiver.The range is about 25 metres.The transmitter is at the roof of my house while the receiver is on the ground floor(The circuit is for detecting the water level in a tank). The transmitter is not required to transmit 24/7 but only when the receiver is switched ON.It can be achieved by making the transmission enabling pin of the encoder ic high when transmission is not needed but for that I would either have to go to the roof and turn the transmitter ON(which beats the purpose) or I'll need another transmitter-receiver pair which would occupy positions opposite to the pair that already exists.(It would essentially be a transceiver then). But I don't want another pair of transmitter-receiver and neither do I want the transmitter to transmit continuously . What I need is a solution to install a standby mode for the transmitter and are there any ways to do that keeping in mind the above requirements? Any help will be appreciated and thank you for reading my question.

Door Peephole LCD Monitor Project. How-To & Ideas?

This is the premise of my project: To mount a webcam to a peephole that will display the video feed to an external monitor. I am in a dorm room at college and my desk is far from the door. It would convenient to see who is knocking without getting up - and to see if someone really is knocking. (Since the doors are close together a neighbor's knock can often be misinterpreted.) I have sufficient electrical engineering skills to carry out the project. But I was looking for insight on how I could potentially wire a spare USB (UVC) Webcam to a display. My intention is to use one of the several spare laptop LCDs I have and mount it in a convenient position.  The project by no means needs to be wireless unless using an A/V Transceiver offers simple integration. If anyone knows of a medium I can use to directly pass the video signal from the camera to the display without use of a motherboard, please let me know. ~*~ANY ideas on the matter are greatly appreciated and I thank you all in advance for any help you may have on the matter ~*~

Wireless XBOX using the telco jacks or COAX in the house?

Hi. I have a house built onto the top and into the side of a hill with a sharp grade. To stabilize the construction the contractor was forced to custom pour forms. The layout is a side split with a back split added to the hill portion later. The bottom level has the mechanical room and kids playroom. My son has an XBOX. He wants to play COD. We run an 802.11g router in from the ISP. i have bought an 802.11n router and 802.11n receiver. I also have a spare duplicate of the main 802.11g router. Right now my son is running a network cable from the incoming Internet through two rooms, down the stairs (poured walls) to the XBOX. i want wireless, to get rid of the cable, but the construction geometry and materials don't allow for good reception in the basement...hence the purchase of the 'n' router and transceiver. I have thought of splitting the incoming signal, and tapping into the house's phone network as the basement has RJ and Coax jacks - no gender bender (telco to network) to be found. I have thought of putting the 'n' router in the basement, giving it a static IP and changing the dynamic range on the incoming 'g' router to exclude this static IP. Still, the only way i appear to be able to avoid a wire through my house is to use the telco network inside the walls. Any thoughts? TIA. Bob?

Hello everyone. Newbie here.  My project is to make an environmental monitoring system that will be battery powered and charged using solar energy, when the system is not in use. I have been looking at different methods of powering the system and noticed people using LiPo batteries. I'm aware that you shouldn't let there voltage drop too low and something about voltage regulators and boost converters that might be needed.  Based on my system can anyone recommend the best method of powering everything using batteries and charging it through solar energy.   I'm fairly new to the Arduino Eco system and this kind of work in general, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Scholarship Robot Proposal: Perimeter Security Bot

A few years ago my house was broken into. Thankfully, nothing of to great of value was stolen. They only stole $60 out of a small personal safe (not traceable and did more property damage than anything else), had no idea who broke into our house or if they were ever caught, and no way of providing any evidence to convict anyone. So it got me thinking, what if I had a bot that ran around scanning the house (visually and audibly), linked up to an old pc that uploaded live feed from it, and have an alarm capability that if it detected someone that would trigger the iRobot to have the live feed stored to the hard disk on a remote web server. That way if we do get broken into ever again, I will have evidence on file! The iRobot would have a "normal live feed only" function and an "alarm on" function. The difference between the two would be that the normal mode would just send live feed onto my web portal and not store it on the remote hard disk. That way if someone is home it will not store hours of my family walking around, while my hosting storage gets filled up. "Alarm on" mode would allow the iRobot sensors to sense a person and tell it to store the feed on the remote HD. It will do this for 10minutes, after the time is up it will then reset the timer, and begin the whole process again. Again, this is keeping any false alarms (such as my cats) from filling up HD space. Sensors: To detect any object (like a human) only requires an IR sensor to detect a moving body of heat. It is like the ones you see in some buildings with the plastic covers over them and leds blink when an object passes in front of it. Another words a thermal motion detector I would also incorporate a high frequency detector. It would detect loud sharp noises, like glass breaking. Then of course the crt camera with audio linked to an onboard wireless transceiver. old PC with Proprietary software and high speed wireless router I eventually will hope to one day build this robot, if you have any suggestions I would be glad to hear them.
