Tensor skateboard trucks?

I want to know how good/bad you think tensor skateboard trucks are. Here are a few key points I want to know: How heavy are they, I cant find a specific weight any where? (in pounds or grams) Do they snap in two? Are they work 40 dollars? my current truck weights 13/16ths of a pound so like a little more 3/4ths of a pound I'm only like 112 lbs so I doubt I could ever snap any trucks but still.

Anyone have any experience with KEI Trucks (Mini Trucks)?

I know this isn't really an instructables-type question, but I respect the opinion of a lot of people onn here and wanted to see what people thought. I'm looking ahead to when I'm ready to get a new vehicle, since KEI trucks are street legal here, and are highly fuel efficient, I was wondering if anyone has any experience driving them on a highway? I put a lot of kms on every day, so highway travel is a must. I know they are good at low speed, but I was concerned about them maintaining say 100-110km/h (62-68mph). Can anyone give me advice on this? Wondering because price of gas here just hit $1.44/L (approx. $5.44/gallon) and its only going to go up between now and summer...

windmill on face of truck/bus ? Answered

The windmill on the car doesnt work as your adding more force in the opposite direction to the work done by the engine. What about using the frictional energy on the face of bigger vehicles like trucks and buses that exist already to run a small windmill. Probably charge a battery or use it effectively in some other way. I cannot see a direct negative to this except finding the way i can place a turbine without increasing the opposing force and using as much of the existing one

Homemade skate / mountainboard trucks?

Does anyone have any ideas how I could make something that resembles a skateboard or mountainboard truck at home? I want to build my own motorised mountainboard from various parts on the very cheap, of which none will actually be from a board. The trucks seem like the one thing I might have to buy since I can't think of a way to add turning and carving capability to a homemade board. Any ideas would be most appreciated.

Ideas and Methods for DIY Truck Topper

So in 5 months starting February I'll be getting my first vehicle. If I do get a truck, I'll be making my own topper out of wood. Now I have a reference picture but I want it out of wood just because it's more secure and looks pretty. Also because I will be making a door on the back that stands tall but can also be walked through. The first two photos is how I want to make the topper but I need methods and advice to do so. The third picture is how I want the door. I'll try to answer any question when you have them but keep in mind I don't currently own a truck, this is for 6 months down the road.

RC Car/truck Lap Timing

I would like to know what people would suggest as to what hardware to use to try to make a wireless RC timing system, Single car use at first but might scale up to race standards? The currently available hardware costs a lot, and is usually to dear for a home user! What it needs is a wireless transpoder in the car/truck (maybe rfid/bluetooth) that when it passes a certain location it updates the time on a counter (usb/bluetooth to laptop/phone, or arduiono based???) Any ideas??? William (Slim19198)

DIY Plug-In Hybrid Pickup Truck

Hi everyone, For a while, I've had this as my "back-burner" project. I'm trying to really get going on it now. It's an Open Source, DIY, Plug-in Diesel/Electric Hybrid Pickup truck. That's really a mouthful, so I'm just calling it the "SuperTruck" project, until I can come up with a better name. The entire concept is that it is a parallel hybrid, which you can charge from the wall, and it has a diesel engine that can run on diesel, bio-diesel, and possibly veggie oil. Either the engine OR forklift motor will be able to propel the vehicle. (Meaning that it will have a dedicated EV mode.) The driver can manually decide to run it on diesel, electric, or both depending on the driving situation. The mechanicals are relatively simple. It uses a manual transmission (rather than a CVT or planetary gearing.) In theory, this will be a project than any advanced grease monkey will be able to duplicate. I'm not much of a car guy, but I have learned quite a bit working on my electric motorcycle, electric car, and experimenting with running my car as a hybrid. Here's a YouTube playlist of what I've got going so far. For the latest on this project, please visit the page for it on my blog: http://300mpg.org/projects/supertruck/ I'll definately need help on this project, so please tell all your friends about it!

help upgrading an old RC truck?

Ive got an old New Bright RC truck, i got it around 2000 so as you can assume the batteries arent very good anymore. im not looking to repair the batteries though, im looking to upgrade the truck with a little bit of some newer technologies. heres where i ask for help: i dont want to overpower the control board in the car, since it may have adverse effects on how it performs, so i just want to up the power to the motor. i have some D2583 and B1658 transistors, i found a datasheet for the D2583's that says they are high power NPN transistors, but no such luck with the B1658's. using the D2583's (i have 6 of them), i want to create a circuit that runs from the main board, and acts as a second H-Bridge (or some sort of control circuit) that controls more power, so i can safely run more voltage to the drive motor without overpowering the main circuit board. does anybody know how i can do this? i have attached a picture of the area on the circuit board where the original H-bridge is.

Gasifying truck travels 10,000 miles

From the first time he saw Emmett "Doc" Brown fire up the Mr. Fusion home energy reactor in the "Back to the Future" movies, Dave Nichols has always wanted to make a vehicle run on garbage. Two decades after the trilogy, the 42-year-old home builder and auto shop owner from eastern Connecticut isn't traveling through time in a DeLorean, yet. But he's modified his 1989 Ford F150 pickup truck to run on wood, leaves, cardboard and other "biomass" with a fuel system that he says expels virtually no pollution. The technology is called gasification, and it's been around since the 1800s, when it was used for street lamps and cooking. It even powered some vehicles during World War II, but faded away under oil's dominance.Associated Press ArticleRelevant Instructable

Need feedback, or someone who is good with vehicles?

Ok so we were driving our 2003 Ford F-250 to school and we get down the road, the truck starts reving up and then we get a little further and the truck completely shuts off and the power steering quits working, but yet we're still moving. We were late to school and the truck did this three more times after we got it started.

what do you think

Every one is going "green" these days and I myself am planning on going head on the opposite direction this is what I have, let me know what you think. I am building a GMC 3/4 ton 4wd. my first priority was what motor to use. so I asked around and a family friend said he had a 2 ton grain truck that has been sitting for years and was looking to get rid of it, he said it had a big block in it. so I took it because it was a big block. it is a 366 cubic inch big block tall deck (NOT A BORED OUT 350) I figured if its good enough for a two ton truck its good enough for my 3/4 ton. I also pulled out the transmission and it is the sm 465great transmission, and my dad gave me the transfer case its the np 205 the king of transfer cases. now I need better axels all i have are the factory 12 and 14 bolt. I am sure they will do but I am looking at getting the Rockwell 2 and 1/2 ton planetary gear set. you know the axels in the duce and a halves .I have a predicted fuel mileage of three to five miles to the gallon. but I could challenge anyone to try to out pull me because I have the gearing and the power

I just took a ride in an awesome truck

Here's some photos from the new model from Topeka Electric Motors. It's a 3/4 ton Chevy pickup with a gigantic motor and a boatload of lithium batteries, with an automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, A/C, etc. The motor on this thing is HUGE...a foot or so in diameter. This is a truck that could tow a cement mixer. They're using it as a work truck to deliver electric motors, pumps, and everything else they work on. I took a ride in it this morning, and it runs smoother than a gas truck. This is the brainchild of a few smart guys at Topeka Electric Motor. These guys are tuning the shift points for an electric motor to get maximum power and efficiency, programming the controller to perfectly match what the motor needs, and basically making a vehicle that beats the pants off anything the big companies with hundreds of engineers have put out.

HELP IDEAS for Mini A/C Unit for Truck

This is an idea that has been tried before with other type equipment & applications. However I think that I have found a way to limit the cost & over size of the application for the use intended. The rubb is that I need help with the fabrication. So I am hoping that the brain power will rally to help in a proto-type or test model of this idea.THE IDEA: A mini A/C unit to keep a vehicle cool for short periods of time 1-2 hours. Why needed?? I own a Private Investigation Agency and have very expensive electronic equipment inside sensitive to the high heat in south Texas during the summer.Equipment on hand for the idea:A. Size 12"x 10" x 6"Input: 100-240VAC 1.2 A 40 watt Output 12 volt 4.0 A (looks like a tall showbox with a single hinge that opens like a center console-armrest-glovebox in a truck or van. The unit is very small but will power the unit very easy. 12 volt 5 A 100 watt, 4" x 3" x 3/4"C. a zeus sealed 12 volt battery 4-5 AH with the PWR use of cooler.D. VArious size small electric fans to be used a blower fans.E. PVC or duct work for the application.F.
