Ultra-sonic teenager deterrent

I've seen kits and plans online for ultra-sonic teenager deterrent devices but I can't imagine that they are all that complicated.  There is a large group of teenagers that hang out smoke, litter, stall traffic and make a great deal of noise across the street from my home.  I believe that having one of these devices and hiding it within range of them somewhere on my own house would be a great way to get them to disperse to somewhere else.  If anyone has made one of these devices and would like to share their design I would greatly appreciate it.

Ultra Pistol 2 Review

Okay, if you guys haven't built the ultra pistol 2 before, then get building! Or, if you built the original and liked it, then you'll love this! This is my first review so, yeah, i've seen many done, so I'll be fine. We'll start with reliability: This gun is very reliable, it's easy to fix when broken, it doesn't mess up when firing, and it's pretty much impossible for the new trigger to mess up. I give it a   10/10 Strength: This one is much stronger than the ultra pistol 1. It's smaller, making it stronger, and the new barrel is shorter, so it's stronger too, the only thing wrong is the handle and trigger connection, making the handle wobble a tiny bit. I give it a     9/10 Range: This gun is very powerful, due to single shot, so it can get a good 45 feet, or 55 if you use more bands. I give it a 9/10 Rate of Fire: It's a single shot, so you don't get a good ROF. I give it a   6/10 Comfortability: The only thing that you are holding is a handle, the handle is right handed, and i imagine it is comfortable like that. (i hold guns in my left hand. I give it a   8/10 Accuracy: This gun is damn accurate, even more accurate when you have finned rods, but not everyone has time or wants to make those. I give it a   9/10 Looks: This gun looks a lot like a magnum, which is a really cool gun, but there is something missing on it.... I give it a   9/10 Trigger: Trigger is a teensy bit forward, but it doesn't mess up or anything evil. I give it a   9/10 Last but not least- ammo: This gun takes a lot of different kinds of ammo, and you can test out which ones you like and whatever. I give it a   9/10 Overall: 8.7- a very good gun by Oblivitus

Ultra sonic flow meters

We have 4 independent ultra sonic flow meters and they give us ghost readings at random times. We are sure it’s not emi from an outside source. It’s a frequency signal that our flow computer picks up without product ever running through the pipe system. It only happened at random times like 3 or 4 weeks apart. And are happening more often. Does anyone know best way to troubleshoot.

UV Surface Mount LEDs

I am currently modifying an iBook G3 so that, among other things, it will be fluorescent orange. Currently, when the computer sleeps, a white LED illuminates through the casing. Since the casing will now be fluorescent, I would like to replace the white surface mount LED with an ultraviolet one, so that the case will glow as the computer is sleeping. I was wondering if someone could help me out by telling me where I might be able to purchase an ultraviolet surface mount LED? P.S. The image included will be stenciled and mirrored on each side of the apple on the top of the iBook.

Ultra-simple low pass audio filter? Answered

Is there a way to create an ultra-simple low pass filter? Will not be using it for subwoofer, but to split audio and boost the power for audio-synced leds. Is a split at about 15-200 hz any good? or should it be higher/lower. Mostly looking for bass guitar and some drum to go in this area. I am totally non-audio knowleged, and am beginning my circuit building skills, so yes, i need lots of help. Can i hook this in parallel to speakers and will it not affect sound quality? can i use a separate audio (no op-amp) amp to boost power to leds? (such as a .5w amp to leds that consume less than .5w?) or should i find an op-amp. Could i just put the filter on and hook leds up in parallel w/out sound loss? I am getting totally lost. I know this is a LOT to ask of you, but your answers to my previous questions have been very helpful and are greatly appreciated. Thanks for putting up with me :) I wish i could figure this out better, but i am having a hard time. So far example no.1 on this link (about halfway down page) seems to look pretty good. Thanks!!!! http://www.electronics-tutorials.ws/filter/filter_2.html

Ultra cheap RC quadcopter (preferably using brushed motors)

Hey everyone.... :) I'm organising a camp to encourage high school students to take up STEM courses..... and I'd like to have them build their own RC quadcopters. I want the course to have a minimal fee.... so the quad should be INSANELY CHEAP. The quad should be able to do just one thing:FLY. Also, durability is not an issue.... just one or two flights should be sufficient. 1)Can someone please suggest a design using brushed instead of brushless motors? (Simply because they're cheaper) 2)If there's any way I can build a flight controller using off-the-shelf components.... please share your ideas.. 3)I have no idea about how to make the remote control/ RF transmitter....... is it the same as that of an RC toy car remote control? 4)I've come across some lovely designs where the frame is made out of paper or cardboard.... so that's not an issue.  Help in any form is welcome.... I'd love to hear from y'all....  Thanks in advance...:)

Lasers vs LEDs in the deep ultra violet spectrum, and focusing?

I am currently trying to research this topic as I am looking into building a stereolithograph 3D printer. I have been searching for some time now with not a whole lot of answers. This is not my area of expertise so I could use some input. I have found lasers in the range of 256nm wavelength but it is going to cost me an arm and a leg. Even at the price range the UV lasers are only outputting at most 1W of power. I have read that UV curing resin is most reactive in the range of 265nm and that is why I have been searching for something in that ballpark. I have found some companies that manufacture LED in that wavelength but then the problem is going to be trying to focus the light down to a fine enough point. I am trying to design a 3D printer that is in the high resolution range. So, my true question is. Does UV curing resin react best with the 265nm vs the 400nm range as I could just a blu-ray laser. If it is better at the 265nm range, could I possibly be able to focus enough light from a couple of 3W leds down to a small enough point to cure the resin where I want it to be. The other idea is taking a UV laser in the 400nm range and focusing the beam down to get me fine but quick set up time in the resin. Or possibly multiple Lasers

Seagate Freeagent GoFlex ultra-portable drive fail - Data recovery?

My 500GB Seagate Freeagent GoFlex ultra-portable drive seems to have failed under two weeks of using the product. The USB device was not being recognized. It states a Code 43 error by Windows. After another attempts to see if it would work on other ports or laptop devices, it began to make a noise with 3 beeps or clicks, and would still not be recognized. About half the drive is full but wasn't heavily used. It was dropped once but it did function properly after this drop. Is physical damage most likely the problem? What should I do to recover the data? Thanks

Audio frequency and signal strength sensor: is there such thing?

Hi, I'd like to know if there's a sensor easily used with an Arduino that detects the signal strength of a sound of frequency determined by me. I want this to make a sensor that can be used to measure its distance to the emitting object omni-directionally, ie, not like ultrasonic or IR distance sensors, which only sense what's in front of them. I want the sensor to sense the SPACE AROUND it, like... spherically. If you know of a sensor that does that in another way, I'd LOVE to hear about it. I've been searching for something like that for a long time... Anyway, I just need a sensor - cheap, preferably :) - that senses the signal strength of a wave of frequency x. By the way, the distance range to be measured is about 10 - 150cm... Thanks!

electric gun......... Safe? + airsoft

Could you make a coil gun, instead of shooting bolts it shoots a nail. The tip of the nail is dulled. When you fire the nail accelerates to a really fast speed, hit's an airsoft pellet, the pellet goes flying, the nail head gets stuck by a mechanism (barrier). would this be safe, or be a really really bad idea and the pellet won't get that fast. Just asking cause i've always wanted to make some sort of cool electronic gizmo shaped like a gun that does cool stuff, like a coil gun, or maybe makes stuff glow or something, I dunno, something cool ;)
