stripping wallpaper

I'm new to DYI and started to strip wallpaper off of my wall. I used Golden Harvest Strip plus after scoring the wallpaper. The wallpaper came off easily. Underneath there was a section that was painted with a roller and had a little texture. The was also a section of heavy white paper which I also pealed off and beneath that was plaster. Not sure what to do I left the paper folded over a section of wallpaper as I did not know if I should remove it or paste it back. Also when I was washing the paste off of the painted section some of the textured paint came off. I wanto to eventually paint the wall. Help Help!! Sallery

Instructables Wallpapers

I was trying to look for a new wallpaper, as there isn't 'just the right Doctor Who' wallpaper out there, and it occurred to me that Instructables don't have any downloadable wallpapers (that I could find). SO I took it upon myself to make some and share them with all of you! I've never made wallpapers so I kept my designs simple. I chose the Instructables Robot, as he is the most familiar icon around here. I didn't want the hand, as for some reason it creeps me out.  I have made 5 wallpapers in total: One is the Instuctables Robot sitting in the middle quite large. Res: 1024x768 Second is the same above but the resolution is 1280x1024 Third one is the same as the above two, except the Robot is a lot smaller. Res: 1024x768 Fourth: Same as above but designed for some laptops, so the resolution is 1280x800 Fifth: Same as above but resolution is 1280x1024 Feel free to tinker or change them. I have also included a screenshot of my laptop using the fourth image.

Seal DIY wallpaper Answered

I'm hoping to use some old beano comics as wallpaper in our bathroom and looking for a suitable sealant to ensure that the paper doesn't soak up moisture. I've found examples of similar projects elsewhere using books and newspapers, but none where a sealant has been applied. The closest product I've found to what I'm looking for is "Zinsser Gardz" but I suspect this might cause the ink to run. Can anybody confirm or correct me on this, or recommend an alternative? I'm going for a matte finish if possible and the paper will probably be adhered using regular wallpaper paste - unless I'm advised otherwise.

Instructables Robot Wallpapers !!

Ok so i was a bit bored earlier so i went on photoshop and started making a background/wallpaper and then i thought "Why not make an instructables one!!" So then i came up with these three designs :DYou can download them one by one or you can download a zip file of all three,I have also put a zip file of the three designs in photoshop format below, this is so you can change it around or resize it or whatever, all i ask is that you keep my watermark in the bottom right and don't claim the work as your own.Tomorrow i am going away for a week so i will have lots of free time, i will create some more designs and upload them when i get back.I hope you like the wallpapersand if you want it would be very helpful if you gave me any improvements or design suggestions in the comments below. Thanks !! =SMART=

Cycling Desktop Backgrounds

I would like to be able to have an automatically cycling desktop background, like the option on Mac OS X. I'm running Windows XP. Are there any utilities or something available to do this? No, I don't want to create a GIF file of the different wallpapers, that would be enormous.

Decorating with Photography...

Found this company, Juicywalls, online. They make custom designed wallpaper and canvas prints of really high quality (and pretty cheap, for the type of product). You can determine the precise size of the prints or measurements for wallpaper, which is great, but the really cool aspect is that you can upload your own photography for these products. It's high quality digital printing, so the image is super clear and sharp. They also offer an option for photographers to sell their work from their own site, with an application called the Walldesigner. You integrate the code into your website, and sell your photography, and Juicywalls makes the product, deals with all the customers, and handles the payment and shipping. Seems like a really cool way to either get your photography out there, or just do some cool, personalized decorating! The website is http://www.juicywalls.com

More Extensive Profile Customization

I think it would be fun to be able to personalize our public profile pages. Uploading custom images to use as backgrounds adds so much personality to a profile. Changing the "color theme" lets users put out clear messages like "I'm professional", "I'm cool", or "I love colors so much omg". All of those are valid messages. Thoughts? Might this be possible? UPDATE: Kiteman has pointed out that choosing which six projects show up on our overview pages would be awesome.

Desktops of Oct & Nov - Creative Patch Addition

Want to get another patch? Last months desktop wallpaper thread did excellent, it would seem you loved the idea of getting some patches for your work. This month I am going to ask you to work harder for your patches! I want to encourage your creativity, so dig out one of your best digital photos, whip open photoshop, or show off a great new interface. All unique, creative and personal desktop screenshots will get a patch! Unique, creative and personal means we are looking for something new and fresh, not just a wallpaper grabbed off deviant art! Whether its a custom interface, or a home made wallpaper, just something that is unique to you. This month I have a couple of home made wallpapers to show off, I created both of these from scratch. By scratch I mean I actually cut up those bits of card, and glued those bits of marble. Both wallpapers were then accented and grunged up in photoshop. I then used geektool to match the type already on the card to make the date and time blend in. Tinkertool adds a few extras, including the modded dock, and menu bar items. Little Snitch runs in the menu bar, keeping an eye on what programs are doing. 3rd screen has a picture of my Fiance - as always :D 4th pictures shows my crazy screen set up! What are you waiting for? Post your most creative desktop set up, and claim you patch! Be sure to explain any fancy programs you have running also. To take a picture of your desktop on a windows machine use the printscreen key on your keyboard, Open up paint, Edit, Paste and then save this as a png. then upload this onto Instructables. To take a screenshot on a mac use the apple key, Shift and 3. This will save the picture to your desktop then you can upload it to Instructables. To take a screenshot in Ubuntu go to Applications>Accessories>Take screenshot. If this doesn't work blame Lithium Rain ;-) PS, I know this is like 28 days late, but I have been busy (I get married on the 7th of Nov!), also doing a joint two month edition means I will be able to check back and dish out patches!

So I am pleased to up the stakes.Free Patch for every submissionThe screenshots have to be different to last monthsThey have to have a description of whats going on (geektool, objectdock, etc)They have to be listed as a new comment below! To take a screenshot in Linux go to Applications>Accessories>Take screenshot. If this doesn't work blame Lithium Rain ;-)I have a nice new set of wallpapers this month. My main screen is running a Leopard Vector reboot wallpaper, I also have the following running..Geektool, in a range of Helvetica NeueTinkertool, which is keeping my dock in a different style, and puts the eject button in the menubar. My second screen is running a favourite wallpaper of mine, one that I rejigged to fit portrait. Finally, my third screen is running a picture of me and my Fiance Hannah from when we were in Durham.I have added an extra picture of my current screen set up, so you can make more sense of my screenshots! So, get your Desktops and wallpaper screenshotted and sorted, and collect your Patch! How can i turn comic book pages into a wallpaper for my room? Answered

Hey guys, i have this spiderman comic that my brother got me for christmas and it happens to be all in french. I cannot read french but still love the comics (hence why he got it for me.) So i had the idea of turning the pages from the comic book into a wallpaper for my room. The general idea was i would cut each page out of the comic book, stick it to my wall one next to the other and then if possible put some sort of covering over the top to protect the pages. this would mean that bumps and such actions would not harm the wallpaper. Any ideas on how i should stick these pages on as well as cover them all? I have been told i could stick them onto card and then paste that onto the wall but still i dont think that would be as easy.?

Windows 9x Clouds Remake

After searching and searching the internet, I could not find one single remake of Microsoft's signature wallpaper, "Clouds". So I set off to make one. The original picture was a 1024x768 grainy JPEG file. It was included in both Windows 95 and Windows 98 as selectable wallpapers, and it was the background found in the cover art of both releases of Windows 9x. My remake is a 1680x1050 PNG which I made fully from scratch, using Microsoft's Clouds.jpg as reference. Here on Instructables I have included my remake, as well as Microsoft's original. Desktops of March

We all use computers to access this website, which means were all most probably sat infront of a computer. Many other forums do a monthly 'show off your desktop' thread, so i intend to bring the same to here. Some of us are more than happy strolling along with the default windows xp skin, and a few icons on our desktops, others want and need to customize it as much as possible. Some of us, like myself, appreciate the extra efficiency with some of the tools available. This is a place for people to share their desktops, and to ask questions about other peoples, so if you see someone else with a kick ass wallpaper, ask them where they got it!I do not want any flaming. We accept ALL operating systems as equal. So, on with the show, here is my march desktop features include - Running Mac OS X LeopardiStat Menus for temp, and memory usage in menu bariPulse for further activity usage in the desktop.Adium, with a custom black text transparent backgroundGeektool, displaying RSS feed of recent Ibles comments, and the timeMy own home made wallpaper, featuring a snail picture i found.I look forward to seeing yours!- gmjhowe
