Wireless water alarm

Hi all. Hoping I can get some suggestions. I have a water alarm in my basement, when it's sensor gets wet, it beeps. This does me no good since I can't hear it. What I'd like to do, it hack it so that instead of beeping, it lights a led I can hide somewhere in the house. Maybe in one of the wifes stupid knick knacks in the living room. If I just needed to wire the led to the beeper, I could figure that out. But I want it wireless. Any suggestions? Mechanically, I'm good. I know how to assemble, disassemble, solder, etc, but I don't know much about the electronics involved. I'm thinking I can use an inexpensive wireless doorbell as my transmitter and receiver. So, I guess what I need to do, is figure out how to incorporate the doorbell button into the alarm so when the alarm triggers, it activates the doorbell. Then, install an led in place of the chime and hide the whole shebang in something. (If it could also send me a text, that would rule, but it's way outside of my current skill level.) Will it work? How do I do it?

Water Gun Alarm Clock- Where to plug in wire?

Hi, I'm building a water gun alarm clock where I'm connecting a wire from the soundbox on the alarm to the button on the water gun because that's what the tutorial I'm using says to do (http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Water-Gun-Alarm-Clock). I was wondering if it would be easier/more effective to connect the wire to the motor on the water gun instead of the button? Thanks!

Water gun alarm clock: where to connect it?

I'm making a water gun alarm clock where I'm connecting a wire from the sound box in the clock to the button on the water gun. Would it be easier/more effective if I connected it to the motor in the water gun instead of the button? The tutorial that I'm following says to connect it to the button but it didn't work the way I had hoped when I did that.

How can I create a water sprinkler alarm clock? Answered

Hi, I am trying to create an LED analog alarm clock. I want to set up a little water sprinkler with that too. Like when ever the alarm goes off, it starts sprinkling water on you and wakes you up. The sprinkler system should be attached to the clock and the whole clock goes on to the wall above the bed and from there the water is sprinkled on to the user. I am using Arduino Mega to create my project. Please HELP!!!

How to tie into an existing water alarm with an arduino and make it send texts and/or make prerecorded phone calls?

I have a water alarm that I purchased from Lowe’s, part number 117272.  It is battery operated and the sensor end is detachable with a 6 foot length of wire.  It works very well, but it is not loud enough to be heard 2 stories above, and of course it can’t be heard when no one is home.  I live in Colorado and have a full finished basement.  An extended water leak in the basement could lead to a giant, unwanted swimming pool.  What I want to create is an arduino microcontroller that ties into the alarm sensor and gives me some communication alternatives if the alarm is activated.  I have 2 “always on” WiFi access points that are connected to the internet via Centurylink DSL.  I have never worked with an arduino, but it looks like I can purchase a shield that provides WiFi capability.  Can it be programmed to send out texts or make prerecorded phone calls?  Would a different controller be better to use than the arduino?  Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Wireless Battery Operated Water Tank Overflow Alarm or Transmitter

In India and worldwide water, availability is a huge issue so saving water is most important work these days for the environment. As like most of the Indian families using water tank to store water and use them later. The main issue is that wastage of water once water tank got filled and most of the water tank fixed on the rooftop. There are lots of devices available in the market to warn overflow tank but most of comes with bulky wires and connection to show the water level or water overflow warning. But I want to make a simple battery operate design/circuit for a water tank that transmits water overflow signal every 8 or 10 seconds to the receiver. For the signal receiver, there is no issue of power but for transmitter power, an important factor and this is must that transmitter circuit works on battery for a long time. So Here I want to design a circuit works on battery (3v to 5v). A circuit with two wire fix at the top of the water tank or on the sidewall and circuit check wires connection for water touch them every 8 to 10 sec. If water touched the wire transmitter release a signal (go to sleep mode again for next 10 sec) to the receiver and receiver worn by a small buzzer for 10 sec. Again after 10 sec transmitter check the water level and release a signal to the receiver. Similar water tank alarms comes costly around 90$ to 150$. I want to use AtTiny85 or min Arduino, Wireless module 433mhz to save money. So please help me start this project by programming or another way to finalize this project and help me save water.

Is this on the markety already? (Man over board localizer)

MAN OVER BOARD LOCALIZER The system consist of a ballistic launched lifesaver with a flag and dye marker combined with an alarm. The system is simply a can of pressurized air that is being rapidly released (or an automotive airbag explosive unit), pushing a lifebuoy into the water, towards the person in the water. Additional features: The system should also have a high flag or maybe even a balloon, making it easier for both the person in need of rescue to swim towards it and for the boat to find “the spot” where the person fell overboard. This is harder than it seems, especially far off shore, where one square mile of water may look very similar to the next one. A slow releasing dye marker for the same reasons -also makes it easier for air rescue to find the spot. For big ships, a control panel that asks you to point the “lifebuoy barrel” towards the direction where the person in need of rescue is. This way, the ship would have six units pointing in all directions. Pushing the control button should also sound an alarm GNU License by Einar Kramer

Battery powered water - warmer / Thermostat possible?

Hello. I am looking to design an enema kit that has a simple built in battery powered thermostat.  I work with many patients with chronic pain & opioid induced constipation.   They use warm water enemas often to clear their bowels.  The number one complaint i here is "its too annoying to get the temperature right ' So i was thinking, how could i design a simple design.    It would have to be able to heat 1L of water up to 37-43 Celcius and be battery powered.   So a patient would fill up the 1L enema bag with water, hangit up an turn the heater on with their selected temperature.   THen an alarm will go off and they can administer it with the temperature stable.  So i guess what im asking is it possible to get a battery powered thermostat for this purpose?   If it needs a plug it won't be convenient enough. Thanks heaps!

I need t make a simple water (moisture) sensor to connect to a talking catfish plaque.

I have a concrete basement (swimming pool style) no drains or sump pump. Its below ground level so no where for the water to go ! So if my boiler blows or leaks I will have a very ugly swimming pool. And all my workshop will be floating. I have this cool talking catfish plaque. Its 6VDC batteries and a Transformer for AC plug in power.  I need a simple switch to activate the plaque. I tried two wires from the switch it has , put in water, no luck. I tried the alum. foil type posted instruct. that does not work either. So any suggs.? Thanks Simple is better. I can solder and read simple scematic .stuff. But KISS.

Over voltage protection circuit

Hi everyone! So i was making one of those water level indicator circuit: https://www.instructables.com/id/Water-Level-Indicator-with-Alarm/ I found the construction to be fairly easy for a newbie for me. I modified the circuit according to my needs, and have successfully constructed it. There is a small issue though. The place i live is susceptible to over voltages often and our fuse system is presently out, so my family has discouraged me from implementing the circuit at home in my main water tank. They want me to add a over voltage protection circuit so that they can feel safe. So anyone has any idea on how to construct an overload protection circuit(The circuit should be simple and understandable for a newbie like me)? My supply mains are 230v AC. It can either be before or after the transformer stage.

Power supply problems for my project

Hi everyone. I'm stuck with power supply problems in my project. My project is a drink dispenser (cocktail machine) with water level indicators. I was thinking of putting 4 water pumps connected to relay modules, controlled by Arduino or microcontroller (something like attiny). The microcontroller would receive a command with 2 push buttons (tasters) and depending on the button pressed, it would combine 2 liquids from 2 tanks into one glass. Now, the code isn't a problem. I need to add a liquid level indicator to the circuit (4 indicator circuits for 4 liquid tanks). Now, the pump I was thinking of buying is rated 5V and the current draw is about 150-250 mA. Attiny2313 operates on 2.7V-5.5V. I found the water level indicator circuit also rated 5V ("https://www.electronicshub.org/water-level-alarm-using-555-timer/" but I was thinking about the one without 555 timer). Now, my question is, what is the best way to power all these components. I was thinking about getting a 220V to 5V 2A PSU adapter ("https://www.ebay.com/itm/AC-110V-220V-TO-DC-5V-12V-24V-Switch-Power-Supply-Driver-Adapter-LED-Strip-Light/152134115704?hash=item236be66178:m:mnohYz4NZlT_Dq5l5lWNUMg:rk:1:pf:0"). Will that be enough and will it destroy any of my components. Thanks in advance!

Transistor as switch with low leakage current

I don't really know much about transistors, alas, but I am looking to use a transistor as a switch in a device where it's important to me to that the batteries (3xAAA) last about a year. This means that I want to minimize leakage current. I would like to use about 20 mA at 2.7V to control 0.5-1 A at 3.3V (I have 4.5V at my disposal, so I can handle a 1.2V drop through the transistor). The device is a water leak alarm which I assume uses almost no current except when it's alarming. Any suggestions on what to use?  A lot of people use TIP120s as switches, but I've also seen comments that indicate that they have an unpleasantly large leakage current. And I don't need the high voltage/current/amplification capabilities of the TIP120. Or should I just use a solid state or electromechanical relay?

Arduino moist sensor with email function

Hello! I would like to do a project with an Arduino one including soil sensors and wifi options. I have all the materials (i think) needed for this but i would need some help with the code. The idea is to connect atleast 2 soil sensors to the arduino that also has an LCD on it. I want to be able to monitor the current state of the soil on the LCD in percentage of how moist the soil is. As for example, when i just watered my plants the LCD would show close to 100% of moist. And for example when the moist drop below 25% i would receive an email depending on which of the sensors that sent the alarm. If i have both tomatoes and peppers in 2 different pots, i want the arduino to know the difference between theese 2 so i can get an email specifying which pot i need to water. I could however see this on the LCD aswell since it would always show me the current moist percentage of both sensors but i would also want it to be specified in the email.  So let's say i'm out of town and my tomatoes run low on moist, so the sensor alarms the arduino and it sends me an email saying "Moist in Tomato pot is below 25%, water them" or something alike. I could help write the code and modify it afterwards for my needs. I just need someone to help me get started with it :) Thanks!

Waterproof Leads

Hi guys! So i was done with this instructable: https://www.instructables.com/id/Water-Level-Indicator-with-Alarm/ Everything is working perfectly except for one small problem: our best friend, CORROSION The wires that go into the tank are getting corroded. Its forming greenish layers(i assume copper oxide) and after reduces conductivity and also after a while, it washes away with water. I want to attach a metal, which is more resistant to corrosion, to the wires so that i can seal the wires themselves and only expose the metal leads, and since they conduct electricity, my indicator will work fine. The only problem is : WHICH METAL? I have no idea which metal i should use. Anybody suggest something which is commonly available and resistant towards corrosion? Also, can i use graphite leads, the one they use in pencils? Or will it cause any problems?

Smoke detector and ozone generators / air purifiers

I recently made a quite disturbing discover and thought I share it here so other are aware of it. We all love to protect ourself in case of a fire and the first and most vital of the information chain is a working smoke detector. In my house I had the old type installed, based on a radioactive isotope that detect smoke through ionisation. The newer types working optical or using combined optical and isonisation detection should perform better - but does not really matter for this "warning". If you do have pets, smoke in the house or just do a lot of cooking you might also use one of these fancy air purifiers that use Ozone to clean the air in your room. I only have a tiny unit for a fish tank that I also use to remove smells from my work clothes or purify some water for the plants. My discovery started with a simple cooking exercise involving a lot of onions, garlic and a big wok. To avoid filling the house for days with the smells I had the ozone generator running as well. At some stage I noticed that the whole kitchen was covered in the fumes from the cooking, nicely visible from the hallway - like fog. To my surprise the smoke detector did not the usual alarm but performed fine with the test button. So I blew some cigarette smoke directly at it - still no reaction. Next day I started to investigate and was prepared to buy a new detector but whatever I used, smoke, steam or just killing a burning candle underneath cause the alarm to go off. Then it hit me: The ozone! A quick test with the hose of the ozone generator next to the smoke detector and no matter what I blew in it the device staed silent. Ozone is ionized oxygen, the detector uses the ionized particels from the radioactive material to detect smoke. Smoke or very fine dust / steam will bind the ionized particles forcing the electronics to sound an alarm because the sensor no longer detects the ionized particles. With enough ozone entering the detector there will be always enough ionization to prevent the alarm. Conclusion: If you do use ozone in your house upgrade your smoke detector to a model that uses optical AND ionisation detection! Otherwise there is a good chance that the device is unable to detect a fire. Of course chance are slim that you would use the ozone while sleeping and a fire starts, but if it does....

Built of recycled materials, but is it "green"?

Construction is nearing completion in Taipei of a plastic bottle building. Technically a temporary structure, "the world's lightest, movable, breathable environmental miracle" (say the designers) is also strong enough to withstand typhoons and earthquakes.  The building will eventually become an exhibition space. Much is being made of the structure's "green" credentials - LED lighting, and particularly the construction material; 1,500,000 recycled PET bottles. That sounds great, and in most of the news coverage of the structure (such as the BBC and Treehugger) it sounds like the building is built directly of bottles that have been re-shaped somehow (maybe squashed in a heated mould).  The bottles even have lids, and they talk about filling them with air, water or sand to change the thermal properties of the building.. It turns out, though, that the building material is not "PET bottles", but "PET bottles chopped up, melted and re-formed into much thicker-walled bottles intended solely for building", branded as Polli-Bricks. OK, still recycled, still greener than most building materials, but it smacks of spin to just say the building is built of bottles. The Polli-Bricks are impressive - individually nice to look at, and fitting together snugly "like Lego" - but there is no indication of how much energy is spent creating them.  They are made by Hymini, but the Hymini website flashes up all sorts of alarms with my firewall and anti-virus as an "attack site".  There is more information at Miniwiz as well, but some of the links there also trigger alarms. Maybe I'm being a wet blanket. It is a nice building, after all. What do you think? GreenMuze article

added value of raised beds?

My main hobby is gardening. I eat from my garden, 450 m^2, year round, and even have lots of extra space to play around, grow flowers or experiment. I see many new (US) instructables with raised beds, inspired by a popular book (Batholomeuw). It claims to have higher yields, and lower requirements of water, and work. In Europe, we are unfamiliar with this method (unless for elderly or handicapped people). It raises a few questions, but only to be answered by folks having experience in BOTH traditional methods AND the raised bed garden: In normal circumstances, do the claims of this method uphold? Adding the soil mix: 1/3 vermiculite (=clay), 1/3 peat and 1/3 compost. What kind of compost? Where does it come from? About the yearly renewing of the soil|:- again, where does the compost come from? For compost making: Is the household excess sufficient, or does extra material has to be added?? Why are these questions important? Gardening in the traditional way is nearly carbon neutral, unless all physical work is mechanized. But (the concept of) soil ecology is very precious; just covering it and putting this mix over it almost alarms me!

Homica - The remote-controlled 'smart house' using Arduino, iPhone and Apple Watch

Homica is a project that thanks to a smart web platform allows to control in a remote way (using an iPhone and Apple Watch) sensors and actuators installed on the Arduino boards. Homica not only allows to monitor our home in all its aspects through a multitude of sensors but also to perform actions on the whole installed actuators. Moreover, Homica is able to execute actions as results of events. This logic will be called "Homica Profile". Below there are just few examples of "Homica Profiles" that can be created using Homica. If we are not at home and we want that the acustic alarm is activated and all the lights goes on and an email is sent when a motion sensor detect the presence of someone in the house. If our garden has an humidity below a certain value, then we have to water it until the soil humidity will be a specific value. If we want to be notified by email if there is a gas leak. If we want that a number of lights goes on if we clap our hands once and we want to turn them off if we claps twice. If we want that all the lights or some goes on or off with a simple action. If we want that some lights goes on if a motion sensor detects a motion. If we want that some lights goes on when night comes and off when becomes day. If we want that an electric kettle and some lights goes on at a specific hour The most interesting aspect is that we can create all the profiles we need directly using the iPhone application called "Homica Remote" without any Hardware changes.   Complete Project Video https://youtu.be/s520dv2i9Rg Remote controlled by an Apple Watch Video https://youtu.be/ZwCsdlMXShk Remote controlled by voice (Speech Recognizer) https://youtu.be/ixZyjLN6izU

Watch out for falling satellites

Watch out for falling satellitesWith no one at the wheel, should we be worried about the large US spy satellite now headed for a crash landing?US spy satellite 193 is predicted to de-orbit less than gracefully in Feburary or early March. The chances of it actually hitting a populated area are exceedingly small, but perhaps you can catch a few micrograms of it using Kiteman's How to catch a star Instructable. What is happening? An out-of-control US spy satellite will crash to Earth in the coming months, government officials say. The satellite is large enough that remnants are likely to survive atmospheric re-entry and strike the Earth, sometime in late February or early March, says Gordon Johndroe, a spokesman for the National Security Council. Is that normal?"This is relatively routine in that satellites de-orbit all the time," says Johndroe. Pieces of uncontrolled debris heavier than two tonnes -- mostly discarded rocket stages -- crash to Earth as often as once every three weeks, says Jonathan McDowell, an astronomer and launch observer at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Many discarded pieces retain some power, so that controllers on Earth can guide them to a point far from human habitation, usually using a final dive into an ocean. In 2001, Russian space officials broke up the old Mir space station in this way over the South Pacific. That's not the case for this US one, however."Obviously, we want to take a look at the potential for it to land in a populated area," says Johndroe. What are the chances of it crashing through my roof?Exceedingly slim, says McDowell. Remember that some 70% of the Earth is water, and most lands are void of people. "There is no reason for people to get alarmed about it," he says.According to the NASA Orbital Debris Program Office, there have been no confirmed instances of serious property damage or injury caused by crashing debris in 40 years.

Create Scholarship Entry: Hearing Impaired

My project is designed to solve a personal problem. One I'm sure others struggle with. I am hard of hearing. My proposed project is for the iRobot to find me and tell me, via an LCD screen or similar visual, that the phone or doorbell is ringing. In order to keep the search path short, to start, in my house I'm thinking about using either virtual wall, which I can't afford, or a line down the hallway to the bed. When something is out of focus you can frequently stare at it until it comes into focus or you can ask someone what the sign says. With hearing loss you eventually realize you don't know you didn't hear something because people start yelling at you for ignoring them. Sound is fleeting. Usually only lasts a fraction of a second. I hear less that half of what most people hear. Without my hearing aids I can only hear the noisiest birds if they are about 20 feet or less from me. I can only hear my phone ring if I am within 15 feet of it and I have the volume all the way up. To talk on the phone, I have one that is relatively new and have the volume all the way up. Those 90db alarms, I need to be within 5 feet of them to hear them. The smoke alarm in the kitchen, I can hear it but it isn't going to wake me. A fire in the kitchen isn't going to trigger the alarm in the bedroom soon enough. It probably won't be loud enough to wake me, anyway. My house didn't have a doorbell when I moved in and I can't hear someone knock unless I have my hearing aids on and am within 10 feet of the door. After missing numerous UPS deliveries I installed a wireless doorbell and I carry the receiver, pager style, with me all day when I am expecting a delivery. And I have even missed UPS with that. If the water is running, the TV or radio is on, it is even more likely that I will not hear the phone or doorbell. If I'm in the bathroom even with the door open I don't have any idea what is happening on the other side of the doorway.A security system with cameras and sensors and a DVR would be ideal. But not in my budget. It might help me with my thieving neighbors.I have thought about getting a dog to help me but I have three rabbits and cannot afford another pet on my disability income. That would probably be a good solution. I own my own home, ok the bank owns it and lets me live here, but if I have to move into a rental most landlords do not allow pets. A robot would not be an issue. If I had a robot that could find me and let me know what is going on in my house it would be very useful. People do not wear hearing aids to bed. I don't usually wear my hearing aids at home to save on batteries. And because the feedback drives me crazy. I just turn the TV or radio up REALLY, REALLY LOUD. Sorry neighbors, it's not my intent to be annoying.I custom built the computer I am using. I have some experience programming simple robots such as the Parallax Boe-Bot. Most recently I built the miniPOV and mintyBoost from AdaFruit. I have 6 years experience as UNIX sysadmin and configuration management. I also have basic hardware and soldering experience. If I have enough time I would like to have it bring me the phone and have a microphone and speaker to talk to the person at the door. I would definitely like to add smoke and co2 detection but I noticed there are quite a few people taking that on and so I will leave that to the end. Maybe teach it to do a little dance, sing a little song, get down tonite. I could wrap it in mirrors, turn it into a floor disco ball. A different dance and sounds for each alert.A robot that could notify me of doorbell and phone events would make my life easier. I'd be inclined to sleep with it. If it could help clean up after the rabbits and ride herd on them I might worship it. Rosie the Robot, Rabbit Wrangler and goddess. If it could also keep me safe from intruders, fires, gas leaks and such. Heck I'll bear it's child! Shall I name it Proteus? or Alfred? Have you ever seen the movie Demon Seed? Classic.I took my time writing up my proposal to do some research and make sure I have the necessary skills and resources to accomplish this task. They warned us in the challenge. I also wanted to have something unique, although there can be many approaches to solving the same problem. If I do win one of the scholarships I will be interested in your suggestions about how to solve this project.

Only read this if you are a kind person. Thank you.

Thank you for taking time to read this post. I realize it is rather long. If you are not a patient person, you may wish to simply skip reading this.I live in Washington DC and am looking to purchase something very specific, preferably from a reputable online retailer. I am a simple person, without any formal education. I know nothing about electronics or engineering. I hope you can be patient with those facts. I have no tools, no skills, no money, no knowledge.I'm searching for something that has been surprisingly difficult to find. Please, if you haven't got anything constructive to comment about this post, would you please just not say anything? Life is already difficult enough without negative words or sarcasm. Perhaps you might know of other internet consumer bulletin boards/forums that might be better places to ask this question? There don't seem to be very many at all.I am well aware that most modern cell phones easily fill the requirements that I am about to describe. Unfortunately, this item is needed for elderly people who are very suspicious of and dislike all things new. They violently refuse to accept a cell phone.Even if perfect, it's going to be a battle to get them to try it or use what I am searching for.So. Here we go. Maybe I can't find ALL the features, but here is what I am hoping to find:This needs to be a digital timer that can be set to go off at a minimum of six different times in one twenty four hour period, regularly. It has to have both an audible alarm and a strong vibration, and it has to be switchable between these two. Even better if it also flashes or lights up when the alarm goes off, and that also has to be optional, switchable. Very good if the strength of the sound or vibration can be adjusted easily.Should have a belt clip, preferably made out of metal, not cheap plastic.Should have a place where a neck rope could be easily attached and detached.Should have buttons that can be locked, so that no accidental changes by accidental bumping will occur.Should be water resistant. I'm talking about it being able to take a splash from a sink, not something to withstand being taken in the shower.Should also function as a typical normal digital watch with calendar feature. should be SWITCHABLE between calendar and clock view, so that all letters and numbers are as LARGE as physically possible, not all crammed on one tiny screen.Display should be larger than a normal watch, but the overall device must be small enough that a senior would not be upset to wear it around the neck or put it in a pocket, such as a normal shirt pocket.Great if it includes a strong LED flashlight feature, something with an on/off button, NOT a button that you have to hold the button down every second that you want the light to beam.Display should either be always back lit or at least have a button that will make the display light up without having to hold that button down the entire time you want it back litGreat if it came with a DVD of instructions with video, not a flimsy booklet with tiny letters written by someone who can't correctly speak English. It must run on batteries that can be purchased at any national retail chain, such as WalMart or Target. Fine if it has a very long life rechargeable battery built in, but not so fine if that battery is welded in so that it deliberately cannot ever be replaced.Good if it is able to run on the type of rechargeable replaceable batteries such as Nickle Metal Hydride or one of the others, without damage to the device. If it MUST be a plug into the wall rechargeable type, the cable cannot be a tiny pain in backside USB cable, it should be very simple and EASY for someone with arthritis and bad eyesight to plug in, perhaps with a charging cradle dedicated for the purpose, which can just be left plugged in somewhere. The charging device should have bright clear LED lights showing both that the device is currently charging as it should be, and another light that will FLASH to indicate it is now fully charged.Should sell for a price that a person that worked a lower middle class life and now barely gets by on Social Security could afford to buy. This device is not for me, if that matters at all. It is for people I care about.

Yellow Roses a fairy tale and horror story

I awaken in a place I'm not familiar with. Seems I am in some sort of hospital, the white walls, they look padded, could it be I am here because of something mental? I really haven't a clue. The only thing I really remember is the man, I recently met, what I would call the man of my dreams. I just don't understand why I am here. I guess I will figure it out eventually. In the mean time I will think about my new suitor, this will calm my nerves. We met inocenntly enough, by bumping into each other literally. He was coming out of the dime store as I was going in and we just collided. He was so good looking, with his dark hair, beard, and blue eyes. He looked so good, he actually took my breathe away. After bumping ino him I say," Oh my goodness, I am such a klutz. I am so sorry" He replies," No harm done. I should have been watching where I was going. But it's not every day I bump into some one as beautiful as you. Let's start over, hi, my name is Dillion." Blushing, I answer back, " Strange way to meet some one. I am so sorry. Thank you for the compliment. I guess I at least owe you my name. My name is Laura. Again I am so sorry for bumpimg into you." " No need to apologize, maybe us bumping into each other was destiny. Maybe it meant for this to happen, so we could meet each other. Anyway, I would be honered if I could take you to dinner. How about tonight? We could meet right here, if you like, at least until you get to know me a little better. I want you to be at ease with me, not to think I am Jack the Ripper", then he laughs. " You aren't shy are you? O.K., we will meet here say at seven? I guess the least I can do is give you a chance, so I will see you here at seven." Dillion agreeing, the we part ways and I go back to shopping, but I can't get Dillion off my mind. I am just so excited about our date tonight, I literally can't be still. Soon it is almost six, so I rush back to my apartment to freshen up before I go to meet Dillion. Almost being seven, I rush back to the dime store, I surely don't want to be late for our first date. Arriving I see Dillion is already there, nevously pacing back and forth like an expectant father. I notice he is carrying a bunch of yellow roses, my favorite color. I make sure Dillion sees me so I don't startle him, walking up to him I say," Hi, have you been waiting long?" Dillion says," I been here for a few minutes. May I say you look beautiful. Also, I got you these. I hope you like them. " I am very flattered by the roses. Thank you so much. How did you know I liked yellow?" " Remember when I first met you, you were dressed in all yellow, just like you are now and may I say the yellow looks great on you because of your dark hair. Anyway I figured you like the color because of how you were dressed and it appears I was right. I thought maybe we go out to dinner, then we catch a movie, how does that sound to you?" " Dinner and a movie sound really good. You lead and I will follow." Here in Lake Charles, Loisiana not that many things to do like you would in a big town. We are just Cajun folk. We choose the movie 2012, because I have been dying to see it. But first we settle on great Cajun food at a restaurant known as Hebert's. Before that we make a quick trip to my apartment so I can put my roses in water. We arrive at the restaurant and lead to a table by the hostess. Then we are greeted by the waiter. I order catfish and Dillion orders gumbo. Waiting on the food, we have a couple of beers as we talk. Dillion says," Have you thought since we meet that maybe it was pre-ordained? I think you are one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen, since we bumped into each other you have been the only thing on my mind. I feel privileged just to be in your presence." I look at Dillion feeling my face blush I say," Thank you for your kind words, you so flatter me. You could be right because since I met you I can't think of any thing else but you. There is definitely some kind of chemistry here wouldn't you say? I am always on guard because I have been hurt before, but with you I haven't even thought of this and don't really care. I just couldn't wait to see you again." " I must say I feel exactly the same way. I want to get to know you, do things with you and I hope this won't be our only date. You just leave me breathless." " I want to see you again also. You know I have lived in Louisiana a couple of years now and I have never been sight seeing. I have always had an interest in the supernatural and two places I wanted to see here is Magnolia Plantation and the Myrtles Plantation. The stories behind these places just fascinate me." " Well, we have something in common, an interest in the supernatural. I visited Magnolia Plantation once, all the voodoo practiced there, to think of it just gives me goose bumps. So if we agree to see each other this is something you would like to do? Soon our food arrives and we continue talking through out the meal, I love getting to know someone on this level. After we finish our meal we go to see 2012, after that Dillion drives me to my apartment, after arriving Dillion says," I was having such a good time, I hate for the night to end. Do you want me to walk you to your door?" " No, I will be fine but thank you for asking. I hate for the night to end also, so would you like to come in for a while?" " Are you sure it will be alright? I would love to come in." After we both reach the door, we walk in, the first thing I do is put on some music, then go to the kitchen to get a couple of beers. Dillion walks around the living room looking at pictures and things. Arriving back in the I hand Dillion his beer, but he puts it on the table, lightly grabbing me around the waist and starts dancing with me. This totally surprise me. I am totally swept off my feet. Then before I realize it we are sharing a very passionate kiss. Then he picks me up in his arms, us staring each other romantically in the eyes, and he heads toward the bedroom. I usually don't sleep with some one on the first date, but this I just couldn't help myself. We end up making wild passionate love all night. The next morning we wake up and after breakfast we decide to drive to and tour Magnolia Plantation, the plantation steeped in voodoo. After arriving here the feeling one gets , well there are no words for the depressive feeling one has. Dillion walks around like he is in a trance like he notices everything here. After that first date we become quite the the item. We are always together and do everything together. Dillion sends me yellow roses every week, to show his feelings for me and he knows these are my favorite flowers. After a couple of weeks things start to change as Dillion starts spending more time with himself and then claiming him not remembering where he was or what he was doing. But I love him and I trust him. One night we stayed together we get up the next morning and in the local paper is a story about a horrific murder. " It says here they think this murder was some how connected to voodoo because they found a mojo bag. The murder they think was some sort of sacrifice to the Gods. The mojo bag was made of red flannel which signifies love. They say the victim was a young male around the age of twenty. Now that will send chills up your spine. Now we have a killer that worships voodoo Gods. How appropriate." Dillion says, " It is probably just some nut after their fifteen minutes of fame. I don't think you have anything to worry about. Why worry? You will be safe as long as you are with me." Two weeks pass with no more incidents, until one day another murder reported in the paper with the same M.O. Dillion says," Are you still worried about this psycho? I can tell from the look on your face after reading the paper. No need to worry my darling. " I guess you are right but I would think any woman that lives alone would be sort of alarmed, don't you?" " I tell you what to ease your nerves why don't you come stay with me until they apprehend this nut. I promise you will be safe." " Perhaps you are right. I will stay with you for a while." Time passes about three months now and I am still staying with Dillion. This thing really scares me. We both go to work, go out sometime together, but there are times Dillion just disappears for hours and he has no explanation. One day I'm cleaning the apartment and there is a knock at the door. Upon answering it, it is the police wanting to speak with Dillion. I ask," Why do you want to see him? Has he done something?" The police say," We want to speak with Dilllion because we think he is involved in something." "Involved in what? He is with me most of the time." " All we can tell you is that we think he may be involved with the voodoo murders, I'm sure you have heard of. The mojo bags being red flannel, doesn't Dillion's work have something to do with red flannel?" It all starts to make sense now, the red flannel, the times he disappears with no memory, Then this thought just overwhelms my mind and my next moment I am aware of, I wake up here in this mental ward. According to the doctors here, Dillion was made up, just something in my mind. I was lonely so Dillion was a fabrication. The murders were real enough though and they bothered me so much I fit them in to my illustration. So they say I can't distinguish between reality and imagination. I see it is almost time for me to see the doctor again but first I hear a knock on my room door. I say," Come in." In comes an orderly carrying a bunch of yellow roses.
