How to power ESP8266 and a circuit that requires 5v, through a single battery?

I am currently working on a wearables project that has an ESP8266 module and a circuit that requires 5v. How can power it through a common battery? I thought of using a 3v coin cell and a HT7750 , but is it right? I want to use minimal components (just to keep its size small) so i would like to use ICs. Also what kind of battery should I use a coin cell/LiPo/one from cell phones(li-ion)?And what kind of recharge system should i use? The schematic is given below.(though it is written 6v but 5v is just fine I tested it with 5v and arduino)

Wearable that vibrates on text/sms

I am looking for a way to make a wearable (bracelet or hanger) that will vibrate when I send a signal (i.e. text message?). It's intended use is to alert players to certain pre arranged situations in a game. As coach I can not always reach my players across the field by voice so I want to send an alert signal. Also this is more discreet. A smart watch is to big and volnurable. Bluetooth does not have the range so I am thinking gsm. Any suggestions on how to build such a device?

Wearable Mechanical Butterfly Wings

I have half an idea of how to make the wings on my daughter's fairy costume work. My ideas involve vairying degrees of a pulley system, springs or rubberbands, and kite string. Any ideas of how to connect the pieces -or alltogether better ideas- would be greatly appreciated.

You guys have done such amazing stuff with our Electric Paint, we can't wait to see what you do with the Touch Board.  The Touch Board is a way to turn almost any surface into an interface.In the last two years, you have have shown us that there is a real interest in developing unexpected interactions with our Electric Paint among other materials. We decided to make the electronics a whole lot simpler by developing the Touch Board. It is an Arduino-compatible board with a specific capacitive sensing chip and an MP3/MIDI player on board. There is a ton of cool stuff about the board, but it basically boils down to three points: Radical Interfaces: The Touch Board uses capacitive sensing to turn any conductive material into an interface. Imagine light switches painted on the wall with our Electric Paint, interactive books or hidden sensors that can detect a whole person. The Touch board can also be used to create distance sensors which work from up to 20cm away - which is as cool as it sounds. No Programming Required: We'll be shipping the Touch Boards pre-programmed to turn touch into sound so all you'll need to do is plug in a micro USB cable or LiPo (we've built in onboard charging) and a speaker and you're ready to go. Touch any one of the electrodes and the MP3/MIDI player will play the associated track from the supplied microSD card. Changing the sounds is as simple as changing the card. Arduino-compatible: We wanted to make sure that this board was easy to use and had as wide an audience as possible so we based it off an Arduino Leonardo. It can be programmed in the Arduino IDE, it works with most shields and it can act as an HID. We're proud to say that we're part of the new Arduino at Heart program. Make Wearable Camera with Phone Camera

I have no knowledge in electronics but I'd like to have a wearable camera that can record things in my perspective. Is it possible to remove the camera on your phone and convert it into a wearable camera? If I want sound to be recorded as well would I need something more? I've searched online for products that do this and they are quite expensive. Also, they are usually on sale abroad. Would anybody recommend a brand that is affordable for a student(or compare brands)? Or is making your own better? If I made my own, how would battery and powering work? Thank you!

Very simple proximity activated switch (several inches range)?

Hello Instructables! I am looking for a simple electronic switch that will instantly turn on when it comes within a few inches (5-8) of a little beacon or antenna of some sort. I would like to be able to have the beacon be small, and preferably flat in form factor, with the receiver/switch system being no larger than an inch square. For size constraints, watch batteries would be the most preferred power source.  Would RFID be a good option for this?  Preferably I don't want this to have to be hooked to a phone, and it would need to be something that I could conceivably make a PCB foror use a very small existing board like a TEENSY.

Wearable 5 V 9 A power supply? Answered

So I am making an electronic t-shirt with a very bright screen that gobbles up amps. At it's probable peak usage it will be using 9 amps (or 8.697, but I always feel safer sizable margin of error). Luckily this will only be at its peak for a few seconds (at most 10 seconds, probably less) when it starts up. Next it will use  between 4.5 to 3 amps continuously, and later will  be using closer to 1 amp. All of this is at 5 volts, and I will be stepping down from 7.4 volts. As if this wasn't hard enough this is battery powered, so good efficiency would be nice. I want to minimize the amount of power lost. Is there a power supply that can do all this and still be wearable? In short, I need a wearable 5 volt power supply that can provide a few seconds of 9 amps and 4.5 amps continuously.  Thanks! Edit: Thanks Everybody! For people who find this in the future, here’s from saving you from having to read through all the posts… In the end I found the answer to my problems was cutting the peak amps it needed to consume it half, bringing it down to around 5 amps. What I ended up choosing was the R-745.0P power supply. Look at the last page of the datasheet for clarification on how to wire it, and when it comes. The mpilchfamily thread talks about safety, which is important and worth reading if you want to know about it. I wasn't sure on whether or not I should go with the R-745.0P and all the supporting components or the UBEC 2-5S, which is an all in one package. I chose the R-745.0P but it’s up to you!

Wearable digital billboard (DIY battery powered monitor)??

Hi, I am looking for a way to turn an LCD computer monitor into a wearable digital billboard, but I don't really know where to start. I thought someone may did already a similar hack so I try posting here my questions. Is it possible to use batteries for a screen about 22" big? Could someone point me to any tutorial, documentation on how to hook up these batteries on an LCD monitor? Thanks, vedtam

Wearable laptop computer sling for stand-up use?

I want to stand up while using my laptop, but instead of putting the laptop on a stand, I want to WEAR it like a sling in front of me while I'm using it.  Maybe something strappy that would hold the laptop securely while I type etc. It's a 15" (diagonal) screen laptop, and not especially lightweight, so I'd prefer not to support its weight entirely by my neck. I'd appreciate any ideas for how to make something like that!

Is it possible to make a wearable Heart Beat Sound amplifier?

This is for my final project for one of my university papers and what I want to do is to make a object that can amplify or create the sound of the heart and can either worn on the hand or the neck like a necklace, as a form of communication and/or self expression. Visual aesthetics are important for this one so ideally, if its possible Id like to make this wearable object portable and super simple since I'm an amateur when it comes to anything electrical like this! I did see another question on this site which was practically the same as mine, amplifying the sound of the heart beat for a project and one of the comments mentioned using piezoelectric elements to pick up the movement of the veins and therefore create a sound through an amp and a speaker. This would be perfect for my project even though its not the exact sound of the heart but its doable, except connecting it to an amp etc isn't exactly small or compact enough for it to be wearable.  (Here's the web address to the other question I mentioned above: https://www.instructables.com/answers/How-do-I-connect-a-stethoscope-to-a-speaker-How-/)  So...is there any other way to use piezoelectric elements to pick up the movement of the veins and output it somehow preferably through sound, but representing it visually through LED lights could also be an option, but again, how do you make this inexpensive, wearable and simple to make?? VR gaming parties anyone?

Last week I was "volunteered" by friend to help setting up a rented and empty factory building for what he called a VR gaming party.My job was down to somehow get enough cables and power outlets from that rented industrial power box inside the building.And well, organising about 800m of network cables with routers, switches and whatnots :(After a hard days work and testing all we went for a well deserved beer.Next day I pooped in to see how the computers are going and where things like tables, catering stations, portable toilets and so would go.Well, the later ended outside for various reasons...To my surprise all hardware was basically boxed in and then padded all around.And although not even running at full capacity the computers already created a lot of heating the building.(Mind you we getting into the summer here)The most confusing thing was seeing several elevated work platforms with people creating a maze of wires about 2.5m above floor level.Now it dawned on me that this "party" might slightly more than what I was used to in my gaming years.Was curious enough to ask if I could jump in again when the actual thing starts and was invited for a quick test later that night.Walking around in an empty building while thinking you are inside some racing game was a strange thing to say the least.I learned why there where two people around me and my brain not always makes the right decisions without the sensory information provided by my ears matching what my eyes see.A bit later when most players where set up and active I realised that this type of VR is not for me.Ever seen those movies where someone has really bad halucinations and tries to fight against something that is not really there?Yes, that is exactly how it looked like LOLSometimes all is in slow motion then suddenly they jump shoot their virtual guns and go for cover...I guess if you are not in it then you just won't understand.Watching the screens for a while I could at least find some relation to the action but it was like another world if you know what I mean ;)What do you think will the near a slightly further future bring us in terms of virtual reality?Will it affect us as badly as social media and mobile phones already do or will it bring some real benefits for everyone?By the way: Virtual Reality Cars are already in the design visions!Self driving cars that put you into another world while driving - why think you sit in the car if you can put the seat back and immerse yourself into a virtual beach?

Wearable RGB LED Strips (with NeoPixel strips) added to Rave Hat

Hello Instructables community! This is my first post so I hope this is the proper forum to post this question in.  I am looking to add some RGB LED strips to a fluffy hat I got a while back. Im very familiar with arduino (second semester Electronics Engineering Tech @ NAIT), although I've never made any sort of wearable project before. I was looking into the arduino FLORA, though they almost always seem to be sold out. I have already configured (on breadboard) the circuit for sending messages from my phone to the bluetooth dongle, and thus changing the colour of the RGB strip seems to work (later on ill program designs and patterns). Where I need help has to do with batteries and how to determine what will be needed given  I am using 2  8light  NeoPixel rgb strips and a HC06 bluetooth module. I was thinking about soldering the circuit onto a circuit board, cutting it out and putting it in a case, though with an arduino nano, bluetooth module, and batteries it will likely be cumbersome and uncomfortable to mount on the hat. I know I need 5 volts to power the arduino but what kind of batteries should I use? I was reading about thin lithium ion ones with the FLORA but as expected they are all sold out.  If anyone has any ideas or suggestions please share them with me as I was looking to have this project completed before the 6th of May. I can attach images and whatnot later as for whatever info is needed to help me integrate these lights onto my hat. Thanks.

How do I send data via lasers? Answered

I would like a flexible wearable material capable of receiving data via a laser. I would like the material to not be too affected by outside light and I would like the data transfer rate to be fast (it's only about 3 one-digit numbers I'm sending, so it shouldn't be a problem.) I am using this for a laser tag system, and the back, solders and front two sides is where I'm planning on these sensors being, so flexibility is not absolutely necessary, but would be very nice (being thin and durable, however, is necessary) please no lenses. I don't mind an elaborate setup, as long as it doesn't cost too much and uses minimal tools, but would prefer a simple "attach this to that then wire it to the controller" setup. I'll answer any questions on clarification to the best of my ability. Thank you in advance for any help.

How to make a simple circuit, that has two unidirectional microphones?

I need to make a wearable headband which has two microphones at either side of the head. I know that i need a battery and two electret microphones and a lily pad??? but i don't know what else. it needs to be extremely simple. and i need someone to show me how to put it together, like an easy to follow drawing with all the parts clearly labelled. I will be recording alot so it needs to store at least 10 mins worth of recordings. Do i need another device for that? would i be able to upload that audio to a computer too?

Basic Electronics timer watch ?

Attempting to create tiny, wearable, covert, simple button click counter for behavioral mod

Hi all, I've been searching both this forum and the internet in general and strangely have not come across what I'm looking to do even though to me it seems very simple. Here are the specifications/requirements of the device that I am trying to create: -extremely tiny form factor (ideally a ring sized device but I'll settle for a thin bracelet) -unobtrusive/inconspicuous (I guess a thin bracelet that could hide under a sleeve might be best) -battery powered/untethered (This is essential. The device would be useless if depended on a connection to a computer or wall socket) -battery life must last a full day -data logged is just a simple time/day stamp that would indicate when a button was clicked by the wearer      (wearer would manually click the button during the day when certain thoughts came up for him/her)       This requirement indicates that the micro controller chosen would need a clock built in and        some kind of storage - be able to upload the data to a computer I did my preliminary research considering these requirements and I came up with the following electronic components that might work: - teensy 3 (has real time clock and 2K EEPROM which should be plenty of memory for storing date stamps) - ulog (1MB of usable space across 3 analog channels, couldn't find anything about a built in clock) - Pro Micro - 3.3V/8MHz (not sure about built in real clock  but storage is 32K flash space) - OpenLog (wasn't clear about how much built in storage and didn't see any build in real time clock) These are the best I could find. If anyone has better suggestions please let me know? My idea is to connect a Mini Push Button Switch to one of the digital inputs on one these micro controllers/data loggers and write a simple sketch that records the time the button was pushed in a MMDDYYhhmm format (10 bytes per click). To power any of these micro controllers/data loggers I was planning to use a Coin Cell Battery - 12mm. I was going to sew the micro controllers/data loggers on one side of a thin piece of material that would serve as a bracelet and sew the battery on the other side. Although I'm not sure how to fix the battery to the cloth and how to connect it to the micro controllers/data loggers. I'm guessing I could find some kind of battery holder for the 12mm cell battery? Other Questions about my assumptions: Will I have enough storage left over on the flash space or EEPROM to store the data click after the sketch code has been loaded in? Will a watch battery provide enough energy to run this device all day? Is the Coin Cell Battery - 12mm the correct external power source for this project? I encourage any feed back, criticism, comments, help of any kind to move me along with this preparation so that I can move forward and purchase the parts I need. Thanks! Michael

is it possible? Breathing underwater without a tank...

Hi all, Could it be possible to make a device that lets you breath underwater like the fishes do? Think about something in the lines of a wearable filter off some sort that scrubs Oxigen from water molecules... So, if that would be possible, how would one make such a device??? Just wondering.

Want to make a motorized mask

I want to make a mask for a group project. I want to have it made of six emotion masks similar to attached image. I want to make it be able to used a wired control to rotate to any of the given masks, and it has to be wearable. I'm not much of a craft person, but i have 6 weeks, just need to know where to start
