I have recently had to wipe the hard drive of my computer due to a virus. Consequently I had to re install all of my arduino stuff. I got my IDE arduino 0022, but when I plugged in my board to get the driver again I ran into some problems. First off it came up in other devices on my control panel, and when I tried to update my driver, the ArduinoUno.inf did not come up in the driver folder. I moved the file to its own folder, so that it would actually come up when I tried to update the driver, but even when I selected the file I knew for absolute certain was correct the computer said that there was no driver in that file for my device. What is going on and what can I do?

I put Windows 7 pro on my gaming PC, oh my god, it sucks so damn bad! Good thing I dual booted with Vista, I have no clue what everybody was thinking when they said it was good! Every 10 minutes, blue screen on death. Tried everything, removing ram, taking out the video card, changing the power supply, plugging it straight into the wall with out the battery back up, nothing worked, so I booted Vista and it worked great, had it on for 2 days so far. And yes, my computer is very compatible with 64-bit. Windows 7 had a 10 minute maximum. Windows Vista just works, I just wish it had XP mode.

Hello Everyone, I am trying to downgrade a HP Elitepad 900 to run on Windows 7 instead of Windows 8. (*Note - There are some reasons outside my control that dictate using Windows 7) I know that this device "should" be ok to run windows 7 it's just the drivers I am having some troubles with. Has anyone had any success with this type of thing and if so where can I get the drivers for this? I haven't installed anything yet for I want to make sure I don't brick the device. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Device: http://www.engadget.com/2013/05/09/hp-elitepad-900-review/

Sometimes my computer glitches and I am not able to click on anything that has to do with the windows explorer process (desktop icons, taskbar programs, etc.) I have tried ending the explorer.exe process, but i cant start it back up again because starting explorer.exe opens an explorer window (my computer, my docs, etc.). The only way to fix this is by restarting. Does anyone know how to prevent this? The laptop I'm on is a Dell XPS L501X (i5 460M, 4GB ram (2x 2GB) NVIDIA GeForce GT 425M (1GB)) I am running Windows 7 home premium 64-bit EDIT: This problem got weirder...Now it happens less frequently, but the problem goes away if I open Revo Uninstaller (maybe because the UAC message refreshes the explorer process?). Does anyone know if that is the reason?

Alright, so today I received my new new Blue Snowball only to find it is incompatible with windows 7, or at least that's what I thought. After searching through the web for a fair few hours I found that many people had got their mic working with windows 7 yet there was no driver or firmware update available to download. I managed to find a firmware update although this stopped part way through demanding administrator rights which I gave it but it still wouldn't work :L I'm using the new macbook pro with retina display if that helps with motherboard compatibility. If anybody has a blue snowball I would really appreciate a download link to the driver you are using Thanks in advance Will

Hey, I've been shopping for a new computer and over all of the results, the cheapest most powerful one I've found is the HP Envy H8 with a AMD 6 core processor at 3.8Ghz (4.1 max). I will put my Radeon 7750 into it too. Anyhow, here is the one I want (Hopefully it hasn't sold yet, but there are many people selling it for this price too): http://www.ebay.com/itm/360718941425. So my question is, if I buy the Windows 7 OEM from Amazon.com (Shipped and sold by Amazon), would this system be able to run it correctly? If not, could I make any adjustments to make it run correctly? Thanks! (Hoping to run Battlefield 3, Portal 2, Team Fortress 2, Roblox, Minecraft, Halo Combat Evolved, Grand Theft Auto IV, and Need for Speed World on it at about medium graphics with at least 30-40FPS).

Question by shanta2010
It took a lot to make me change from XP, but I do like Windows 7 which I'm now running on a couple of machines. However . . . The thing I miss is the 'classic' explorer search function which gave a no-nonsense way of finding any set of files on your computer (indexed or not) with proper wildcarding and various other settable criteria. OK, Microsoft search V4 (or whatever it's called) has all sorts of bells and whistles, but I'm finding it unwieldy to use and find myself opening a DOS box for speed. Google finds a lot of posts from other people who liked the old search, but no answers. Has anyone here found a utility which replicates the old search functionality?

I've had my computer since last April. it has Windows 7 home premium sp1. the problem started about 6 months ago. whenever i plug in any new usb device, it fails to install any drivers. hardware installed before this started still works perfectly, only new stuff won't work. and the attached picture is what it looks like when i open windows update. both problems started around the same time, so i assume its the same problem, and i am just completely out of ideas as to what it could be. any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello i own a laptop that runs windows 7, and since obtaining it, i have found that alot of my applications are not working as they are incompatible with anything other than windows xp! most importantly, i cant run my "the movies :stunts and effects expansion pack for my game without needing to change over my save file, because the newly updated "the movies" game , on windows 7, is incapable of playing without crashing if it uses more than 1bg of ram, even though it can do so on windows xp. i want to know, are there any windows xp applicaton emulators?, not programs that emulate the operating system, but rather, run a program the way it would on that operating system? ive tried using the compatibility mode, but it never works. i really need a good emulator. i dont know what to search to find it on google!, all my atempts just turn up with emulators of the operating system, and not for specific applications!

Hi, I've recently installed Windows 8 on my laptop after windows 7 died on me and my DVD drive failed. I had to put my hdd in another laptop to install then transfer it back into my laptop, the problem I'm having though is that Windows 8 has installed some random drivers for my video card (ATI mobility radeon 4200 hd) whereas I need the Windows 7 driver which I cannot access. Has anybody found a DIRECT DOWNLOAD to the driver? All I can find is the catalyst control centre and such which completely ignores the card and allows Windows to install it's own stuff :LAny help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Will

I had asked 2 questions about my 6 weeks during computer problem:' is Windows 7 That Bad??', and 'help'... Windows XP seemed to get slow and somewhat erratic, so instead of re-installing XP, I installed the 64b version of W7 ultimate, downloaded as 'freeware'. It was a chore to install, and much of my hardware was not recognized (no network port (= internet), only generic CD ROM instead of DVDRW, etc.). Problems shutting down, and SLOOOOWWW. So after a while, I re-installed my trusted XP, but things did not get better (at all!). This was not normal! Since my HDDs came on and off, I figured it ought to be the motherboard. It always (2 1/2 years) worked fine, but after some internet search (I also do have a laptop), it seemed to be one of the worst MBs ever made... But a spare laptop HDD got fried instantly (motor+ is dead)... So I ordered a new one: A nice old fat Asrock, with 4 memory slots, and 7.1 sound. It lasted 4 hours... No more picture, not by the board, not by the added card... By warranty, the MB might have been bad, so I got the replacement. But I did not trust my TRUST power supply anymore. So I bought a new 500 GB HDD and new (Cooler master 460 W power supply). Everything was wired up, Windows 7 installed, and it runs great!!! The laptop disk is dead, but my old system disk is most often recognized... There was still a lot of important, non backed up data on it (!). I was able to secure all of it!!! So my conclusion is: it probably was the power supply: don't trust TRUST!!!

So I recently upgraded my laptop, i swapped out the old 80GB HDD for a shiny new 120GB SSD, and I installed windows 7, I would like to know how to dual boot windows 7 and linux mint. I've searched google, but all i find are forums where I dont understand the terminology that the users use. I was wondering If anybody knows of a site that/could tell(s) me in simple terms how to do this. I've done this before with windows vista and windows XP, so I know how to shrink volumes and all that type of stuff.

Hello. My desktop computer`s hard drive corrupted a while ago due to a power surge and rendered it unusable. After consulting a computer savy friend he said I would need a new hard drive. I have finally began to repair it, I have bought a new hardrive and was wondering can I use my original COA code from windows XP to clean install Windows 7? The reason I ask is that windows 7 is very expensive from new, however you can get the offical disks with supposedly working COA codes for half the price on ebay. They say they are from de-activated computers however I am worried I will buy one and the code will already be in use or invalid. So as a backup would my original code work or would it say it is still in use? (P.s I am not interested in getting windows 8 or 8.1, I cannot afford it) Thankyou :)

I recently upgraded to windows 10 to try out the new OS. However I found that I preferred my old windows 7 OS better. Thus, I decided to revert back to my old operation system. I went into settings and under recovery found where it said "Go back to Windows 7" and clicked on it. I let it go about its business and when I come back, my computer no longer starts up. It repeatedly gives me an error along the lines of "The computer encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click 'OK' to restart the computer , and then restart the installation." But when I click okay, the computer simply restarts and I get the same message again. The problem is that I do not have an external backup of all of my files because I did not expect anything like this to happen. If there is any way I can solve this problem without losing the files that I have I am all ears. Please provide any help or suggestions you can as I need to get my laptop up and running again. The laptop is an Acer Aspire 7750G-9807 running Windows 7 Home Premium. Please help, anything in greatly appreciated!

Whenever I run Minecraft it will come up with an error message saying bad video driver and OpenGl and such. I deleted my .minecraft and got a fresh new folder without any mods and it didn't fix the problem. Also, when doing the Java check it won't run and when going on a game on Pogo it won't run and says I need to install Java. However that is only for Google Chrome but it WILL work on Internet Explorer. I have Java enabled as a plugin as well. Please help I have one more thing to say: Before this laptop was Windows Vista Home Premium. Now I upgraded it to Windows 7 Ultimate x32 bit and I did it for free from YouTube, Lol ikr. All was required was to mount the Ultimate to a virtual drive using PowerISO and to install Windows 7 and then to use a program called Windows 7 Loader by DAZ v.2.2 or something like that which would activate the key and before I activated it, it was already saying it was activated. Lol long story short, HOW CAN I FIX THIS? (Also my video driver crashes once in a while like 4 times a day in use and recovers XD). Please reply! :)
