Is it possible to make a ps2/ps3 controller into a remote control for an rc car?

I have a Mini-Z MR03. This is a very sofisticated rc car and has a very sesitive controller. I was turning one of my console controllers into a radio for this car. Problem is I have no clue as to how to utilize the modules in the console controller to work with the car properly. I now wonder if it ais actually possible to do.

Recycling from A to Z

I love to do what I can to help the environment, and I love helping others reduce their impact. I found an A to Z guide to recycling on the Real Simple website.Recycling made easyFrom aerosol cans to zippered plastic bags. I definitely recommend you read this.Aerosol cans. These can usually be recycled with other cans, as long as you pull off the plastic cap and empty the canister completely. .........Zippered plastic bags. Venues that recycle plastic bags will also accept these items, as long as they are clean, dry, and the zip part has been snipped off (it is a different type of plastic). photo from Realsimple.com

How can I pass voltage through a wire only when it goes over 7 volts? Answered

I'm trying to hook up a Z-Wave contact sensor to my home alarms wired contact sensor. The alarm panel seems to provide a constant voltage of 6.8 when the door contact is closed and 13.5 when it opens.  The z-wave module I am connecting however looks for no voltage in order for it to be closed and any voltage for it to be open. So how can I only pass the voltage to the z-wave sensor when it goes over 6.8 volts? I have a ground and power wire running to the respective terminals on my alarm panel. I'm thinking I may be able to wire in a resistor but am not sure if that is what I need or what size. Thank you

Home automation system configuration?

I have recently purchased a used home automation system off of eBay. The whole package included the following items. 1. Amber Wireless AMB8425-M USB Stick 2. Aeon Z-Stick S2 USB Stick 3. Huawei E173u-2 Boradband USB stick 4. 3 x Zwave Socket adapters 5. 7links NAS Print/ USB Server Photos of these modules can be seen below. The seller was not aware how all these modules can be put together into a home automation system. I googled for sometime and figured out that I can setup an indoor automation solution using only the Aeon-Zwave USB and the Z-Wave socket adapters, and control them using my android phone. Can someone please help me how can i use the remaining modules and setup the automation for remote access as well ? Many thanks

what I should use for the DBZ battle Armor V1 (non-shoulder pads)

Sadly I'm doing a change of plans for Free Comic Book Day instead of being a Trekkie there I'm gonna be as a Super Saiyan with the V1 armor on without those huge shoulder pads I just need ideas on what I should use to create this Armor to go with my Blue Lens Scouter I've bought from ThinkGeek. What kind of Foam or material that is strong and sturdy to withstand me moving around in. I'll gather up the list once I have the main base of what I should use to make this.

One bug, one inconvenience

Hey all, Instructables is an amazing website, spend a lot of time in the electronics section! Haven't had time to make my first instructable yet, but getting ready too shortly! I found two bugs, one that doesn't hinder usability but it has a huge annoyance factor, and the other is an inconvenience more or less. The first one: Ironically I found this while looking at pictures of bugs people had previously submitted in the comments of the featured bugs article. When you click on the image to view it in the light-box some of the objects on the page ALWAYS show up in front of the light-box. This makes me believe that the Z-Index is possibly set too high on those objects, haven't had a chance to play around in FireBug and propose a solution as of yet though. I have attached the screenies of this problem below. I only took screen-shots of the problem on this specific page, but rest assured it does it on every single page I have checked. I figured this pair of images is enough. Second "bug" (not so much a bug as a recommendation here): When posting in the forums I ALWAYS have to do the "Select a category group and category" step in my post. I understand that if I wasn't already inside a specific forum (category) when I clicked the new topic button it wouldn't already know where I wanted to post to, but seeing as you don't have this button until you are inside a category it should be able to fill this in for you. For example I was inside the "bugs" category in the "help" category group when I clicked the "New Topic" button, it wouldn't be too difficult to have that button pass a parameter to allow those boxes to automatically have the right selection, but keep them selectable just in case someone would want to change where it was posted. Computer 1 specs: OS: Both Ubuntu 11.10 (x86 and x64) and Windows 7 (x64) Browsers: Firefox 8.0, Chromium 15.0.874.106 (Developer Build 107270 Linux) CPU: Core 2 Duo e5700 RAM: 8 Gb GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 7300 (Driver Version 2.1.2) Computer 2 Specs (My web development machine): OS: Windows 7 SP1 (x64) and XP Pro SP3 (x86) Browsers: Firefox 9.0.1, IE 9.0.8812.16421, Chrome 16.0.912.63, Safari 5.1.2, Opera 11.60 CPU: Core i5 m520 RAM: 8Gb GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5470 I was able to replicate this issue across 3 operating systems with various levels of installed updates, and across every single common browser, updated to their latest versions for the specific operating systems. In supporting browsers using compatibility mode this problem wasn't present, but as previous posts stated paddings, menus and some other items move around the site or collapse on themselves, specifically on the front page using internet explorer. These bugs were replicated using both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of operating systems, and on 64 bit operating systems it was tested on both the 32 and 64 bit browsers.

Up and Coming

Contrary to popular belief, I havent left instructables, and I havent died. I have however been working on bunches of projects (some of which you may remember from my "Things I'm Going to Post Soon" slideshow). Unfortunately, most projects, such as a crossbow, slide-action pistol, semi-auto sniper, etc., have miserably failed. And even worse, several projects (FAMAS, M6G, and the D.R.A.G.O.N) have been demolished for lack of pieces, and will need to be rebuilt. The first project to be posted will be my M6G Magnum (halo 1 pistol), which should be up by the end of the week, followed by my completely new Sniper, the KSR (at least until I find a better name), which I have made since, according to previous feedback, my R700 simply wasnt cutting the jib. It features an extremely comfortable handle, an upgraded trigger system, and better overall statistics (range and accuracy). After that is posted, I might be able to rebuild the FAMAS, or the DRAGON, but dont get your hopes up, they are hard to remake, so I'll probably just make a new gun, such as the Shipka SMG. Stats: M6G Magnum •Range: ~ 20-30 ft. •Accuracy: Consistent •Mag: Loads 9 pcs. KSR •Range: ~65-70 ft. (depending on bands) •Accuracy: Very Consistent •Mag: Single shot / rail system FAMAS •Range: ~30-40 ft. •Accuracy: Good consistency •Mag: Loads 12 pcs. D.R.A.G.O.N •Range: ~50-80 ft. (depending on ammo type) •Accuracy: Medium consistency •Mag: Single shot / dual rail system PS - Constructive critisism is welcome, but dont just say: "wow _____ gun sucks" The pictures are as follows: 1. M6G Magnum (w/ comparison) 2. KSR 3. FAMAS (w/ comparison) 4. D.R.A.G.O.N

Difference between all the X,Y and Z axes?

Hello, I am new here and only registered to get access to a CNC build which I really like. Now m questions is, as I look at so many of the builds, what defines the axis? Some use Z to go up and down, others mentioned it being the Y-axis, even saw a few saying X. Is it up to the builder or up to the software? Kind regards, Red

How to make a homemade z board using arduino uno?

Hey Frnds! Well the quetion is clear from the heading. There is going to be a science exhibition in our school and we think that a homemade zboard can be a very good thing because noone knows about it in our school. (how sad it is....).           I'm a beginner in arduino but i figured out that we will store the values of S1 and S2 in two different varibles. Then test for which one is bigger. Then if S1 is bigger then we'll turn the motor forward else it will be turned backward. I know there is some mistake in this program because how we'll stop it if we want to. And i also dont know about the hardware of the z board. Can any one plz help. Like with the Motor Specifications, Force sensor values, powersupply, wheels ( are the rear wheels both free of each other or they are joined). Plz comment if you knwo any thing. I am in real help. Moreover i was going to buy a motor driver sheild from here : http://www.snapdeal.com/product/robomart-l293d-motor-plate-arduino/1675508201#bcrumbSearch:l293d  Is it compatible with arduino uno? Is it the same that is on adafruit.com.

Upgrading the self balancing skateboard by xenon john to work like z board?

Hey Frnds! I saw this instructable. And i want to make an upgraded version of it. I want to make it work like the zboard but without weight sensing. But i know very little about arduino programming. Can anyone plz help me. Is there a way to recognize when i shift my weight forward or backward? (Using the accelerometer i think). We can then fix a notched disk on the front portion of the board, beneath which there will be a potentiometer. When we will put our heel on the disk and rotate it, the board will turn accordingly. Can anyone please help me with this idea. I really wanna learn. Plz reply fast if u know anything. Thanks in advance.

Zombies, and what are your plans and ideas for killing them?

Plans? Ideas? Instructables? Bullets, ammo, makeshift guns, what are your plans? Hygiene, Food, escape routes? Can you suggest guns (THAT YOU HAVE USED!!!)? Here are my plans... Im saving money for a Walther P22, possibly buy a silencer, (They are illegal to use in my state, I belive not to own one.) I will be stock piling ammo for a 20 gauge scattergun, .357 rounds, .38 special rounds, .22 rifle rounds, plan on buying a cheap .223 rifle for picking them off. Also buying sights and scopes for a 20 gauge shotgun, a .22 long rifle, and a .357 magnum. Whenever my brother or parents drive me around places, I look for friends houses, some who have guns, Ideas to signal that im human, geographically and easily defendable homes and areas. I look for random scrap wood and metal, and I try to find out who will be able to take the stress. I try to meet people in my area. Still in the process of stock piling water, and getting those canned peaches I love so much. Im saving wood pieces, trying to find heavy sheet metal, just as gadget-evilusions said. I have actually begun to devise gadgets, weapons, landmines, makeshift munitions, ammunition, and other anti-zombie things. Plans on quick-welding lawnmowers to the front of a car, 2x4 plus nai equals effective weapons, chemical warfare angainst the Brooks zombie, and others. One of my main projects is printing and laminating topographical maps from google maps and applying section numbers to them. I have told my friends when the day comes, Ill be knocking on your door to save your butt. Im planning escaoe routes, and am in the process of building a two person raft. Pyrotechnics for signaling and otherwise are in effect. Everyone, get ready for Z-Day, and please, tip the chef! (Beacause, you know, chefs have big knives...) ~RoAr

Upgraded a 12vac to 24vac z-wave thermostat for A/C unit also adding transformer???

I decided to install a Z-wave Thermostat after an old ordinary one failed to work, It worked fine with home automation and all, apart from it being 24vac thermostat but receiving only 12vac from the motherboard (I was forced to change the batteries every 3 months), To make life easier (and not have to change batteries) I ended up doing  the stupid thing tying to Upgrade from 12vac to 24vac adding a transformer, it worked fine for the first 5 mins and then stopped, it was then that I realised I may have overloaded the mother board, My question is, is there a quick fix for this? or do I have to replace the whole motherboard?, if so which one?

Hall effect threshold circuit? Answered

For a project that I'm building, I'm using an A1302 hall effect sensor. My goal is that if the sensor senses a magnet closer to it than a fixed threshold, it will pass a voltage through a relay (that would act as a Z axis endstop for my 3d printer). What would be the simplest way to achieve it, without using any microcontroller or anything more complicated than resistors capacitors and transistors, , without frying the components with the PSU, and with a high sensitivity? Possibility of "gravity chamber" becoming a reality

I used to watch the show  "Dragon Ball Z" when I was younger, on some of the episodes there was a gravity chamber which would increase the gravity in the room. It would go up to 450G (1G= 1 times the Earth's gravity) I know this is completely impossible but could a device like this even exist and if it did would make it to 2G's? Before you respond I know this is just a show and not reality. If this did work this would help athletes train and astronauts (if and when the moon is colonized)
