Need help to power an LCD

So recently i salvaged an LCD from my broken head unit. It is a 6.5 inch screen i think. I really want to put it to good use because it is still in perfect condition. It even came with touch screen (it is pressure sensitive but meh at least there is something). Maybe someone here can help me to get picture to come out of the screen. Maybe a control board or something that have hdmi or vga input. I have included a pdf file about the screen :) Everythig should be there. Thanks in advance!

how does pine and willow charcoal differ from plain old random tree charcoal when used in pyrotechnics? Answered

hello, i am starting up an online store, and am already starting to sell some of my pyrotechnic supplies, such as manganese dioxide and charcoal, but i just realised, on ebay (my online store is not an ebay store), people are only ever selling pine charcoal or willow charcoal! which doesnt make much sense since is a super fine powder and is made up of carbon. i need to know what makes these so much different from regular random tree charcoal that comes from just anywhere, and, is the charcoal i have now, which is of unknown origin, but mostly of from pine-like trees in the tropics, the same? i need to know if it makes any difference since i dont want angry customers demanding refunds because it isnt as good as other charcoal!

How To Connect A Stepper Motor to Turn a Solar Panel

I want to use a stepper motor to turn a pipe or 2x2 piece of wood connected to a solar panel. I want this to be a direct drive system. No gears, no belts. I can't find an example showing how I can connect a stepper motor stem/bolt to a mount that it turns, though. I can see them connected in projects, they mysteriously leave out the details on the parts used and the details connecting it or they use gears/belts.

How to order the correct ball bearings and threaded rod so that they will seat well and not be loose or have play?

I am trying to design, what will essentially be a very specific miter box / saw guide for a hand saw. Here is a product on the market that is almost exactly what I am trying to build. The only difference between what I need to build and this miter box, is that the miter box from that link cuts at a 90-degree angle to the workpiece being sawn, whereas I need to saw boards at angles much more acute than 90-degrees. There are commercially available adjustable miter-boxes, such as this one, that allow you to set whatever angle you need, and it will still guide the saw straight. However, they are made for cutting baseboards and molding, so the angle-range is only 90-degrees to ~40-degrees or so. I am cutting wooden boards for making, "scarf joints". So, I need to saw through 4" thick boards at an 11-17 degree angle. Where the above miter box saws perpendicular to the board it is sawing, the one that I am building, at 11-17 degrees, will be closer to cutting parallel. The housing, I think I can cobble together from angle aluminum and hardwood. However, I haven't bought ball bearings since I was a kid riding skateboards. I was hoping to take a threaded rod and push it through the hole in some bearings, then use some spacers and/or washers to space them apart, and secure the whole bearings/spacer/bearings sandwich with some washers and nuts. I do not live near a place that actually sells bearings much less carries bearing and threaded rod in the same store. Therefore, I cannot try it all out right there in the store. So I am going to have to order the bearings and the threaded rod off the internet. I need bearing where... Heavy load is not an issueHow fast they spin is also a non-issue.But that are...Shielded from the sawdust (do not have to watertight)Fit snuggly on a threaded rod and not rattle around. A loose guide-bearing isn't much of a guide, eh?Would one of you fine gentlemen help me by pointing to where I can buy 16-20 bearings, a threaded rod that will definitely fit them, and some .50 - .75" spacers (metal or nylon) that will also fit the bearings?

Help repairing a pair of headphones

First things first, they look like Beats, but I’m pretty sure these are knockoffs. Nonetheless, they sound pretty good, and I picked them up at Goodwill for a steal and love a challenge, so if someone is interested on taking on this electronics mystery with me I’d be incredibly grateful.Context: I’ve tinkered on and off with consumer electronics for a while now, am okay at soldering and have an okay knowledge of how more basic circuits work. Otherwise, I'm pretty beginner but generally a quick learner and would be happy to try any of your suggestions. The previous owner attempted to replace the AAA battery holding component with a rechargeable lithium ion battery - only problem was there was no way to charge the battery. Not a huge deal, fixed the headphones to run on AAAs again as they were originally intended. That said, pressing and holding the power button powers the headphones on, but also is the Bluetooth connection button on the board (image at the imgur link below) there is an icon for both the connection functionality and the power around the same button. The headphones power on, work, and sound great when you're holding the button down, but once you let go they turn off. So, it’s a momentary switch with no latch to keep it held down - not ideal. That said, I’ve tested jumping the switch so it gets constant power without holding the button down, and while the headphones power on, connect to my phone, and work, because it seems the power button and bluetooth button are one in the same, the headphones continue to look for Bluetooth devices and makes a periodic and infuriating beeping sound about every fifteen seconds. Based on the pictures of the board below (pictured with, and without button attached) can anyone figure out what the problem might be? Or point me in the right direction for further tests to run?Front of the board, with buttons.Front of the board, with power/bluetooth button removedBack of the board, held upright with power/bluetooth button side up

How to size a DC motor? Answered

I want to rotate a stainless steel shaft that is in a vertical position having a 40 mm diameter and 300 mm length. The motor will be attached to the bottom of the shaft, so when the motor is turned, the said shaft will rotate. The shaft is not driving anything, it just turns on its own. The shaft's mass is 3kg(according to my calculations).  I want the shaft to rotate at an angular speed of 45 degrees per second. Having this information, how can i size the motor that will do the job. What kind of torque would i need, what kind of wattage. Please show me some calculations so I can know how motor sizing is correctly done.  Very much appreciated, Chris

Novice here. Send a "gate open" signal from indoors? A gate closes access to the driveway leading to my little guest house.

I’m completely new to making electronically operated devices. I can't interpret and translate the existing rf signaling instructables to my situation. I’m also completely new to your impressive Happy to be here. The situation: On a shared property stands a main house and a little guest house. Both are served by a single driveway. Access to the driveway is restricted by a gate. The main residence (not mine) utilizes 1. a remote control and 2. a drive-up keypad to send the "gate open" signal. (Aside: the drive-up keypad is paired with an intercom. The intercom serves the main house only. My guests, or delivery drivers, must telephone me to alert me of their presence at the gate. To open the gate for them, I must exit my little guest house residence, walk the length of the property, aim my remote control, line-of-sight, at the gate and depress the button on the remote control. The gate opens. I make the return walk to the entrance of my residence. This poses two problems: 1. guests and delivery drivers must wait while I make the journey out of the house, to the end of the property and 2. I must make this journey through inclement weather and nighttime darkness. My first goal is to achieve an indoor located, or a just-outside-the-front-door located, "gate open" signal sending trigger. I've read that wired signal sending performs more reliably than wireless, due to the abundance of potentially interfering wireless device traffic. I dunno. My second goal is to give my guests and delivery drivers a two-way voice communication "intercom" specifically with persons in the guest house. This communication device must be unobtrusive in appearance to be appropriate-enough to stick onto the drive-up keypad & intercom to the main house. A device operating as communication to the guest house belongs alongside the intercom button to the main house. That's so my delivery drivers don't buzz the main house, unnecessarily bothering the owners. That has happened. Makes me cringe. There must be many methods by which to solve the two challenges: 1. a guest house located, “gate open” signal sender. The signal reliably reaching the end of the property and aiming at the gate, and 2. a guest house located, two-way voice communication something. I’ve seldom even peered into interiors of electronic devices, and am confessing my entire ignorance of electronic signaling. Since I embody the least informed and least experienced person possible to achieve these to goals, it seems to me the simplest to assemble and test is the best, and that I begin with challenge one. I appreciate you for your time in considering how best to recommend I proceed. I'm in the dark. If you are very swift of mind and short of time, perhaps take a pass on this one. I need a most elementary, every little step described, no steps missing or out of order, type of response. I’m a neurodivergent individual. I’m good with it. And I will convey, from within my areas of creative visual fluidity, instructables in gratitude for yours, and for fun. And when other participants request guidance that I can offer, I’ll do so.

How do I fix a Black & Decker electric lawn mower motor?

A neighbor asked me to have a look at her B&D electric mulching mower (MM1800 Type 1) after it stopped working. When I pulled the control switch, the blade didn't turn, but there was a buzzing sound and kind of a burned plastic smell. I also found that it was very hard to turn the blade by hand. At home, after a lot of trouble I was able to remove the 6 screws holding down the big plastic cover. (You should see how much grass was under there.) I can now see the outside of the motor, but how do I figure out which parts need to be replaced? The owner's manual has a parts list. I assume that some parts (like the magnet ring and armature) are OK, and that the problem is with something like the brush spring/terminal/brush insert or rectifier. How do I find out? (I'm hoping it won't be that hard to replace the parts of the motor.) Thx.

Slicing a hockey puck into discs (vulcanized rubber)

I need to slice a hockey puck (1” thick by 3” diameter) into very thin discs (1/16” to 1/32” thick). This can be done... the NHL sells 1/4” puck coasters (see photo). Thinking about a mandolin design where the puck is mounted and the blade moves with my hand in a sled device. Puck rubber is very hard to slice. Thinking of Japanese angled blades (‘7’ shape rather than the American ‘V’ shape). Looked into ice auger blades (for blade thickness and stability). Just about de-gloved my hand with large box-cutter blades (bent as well when cutting the rubber). Any ideas?

Hi-Float is, apparently, some liquid you can pump into a balloon to make it stay inflated for a longer amount of time. Best way to create an 'ible on mobile phones?

This is part question part complaint. Ever since the Instructables app was phased out, it has gotten buggy to the point of jon-usability. However, the website has not improved on the mobile front to make up for that. Creating an 'ible on mobile simply doesn't work, because you can't drag and drop multiple photos like on a computer. Neither can you drag and drop photos from the photo library panel into a new step. To the staff: is there any plan to improve creating 'ibles via mobile platforms? This would help so much because almost everyone takes photos on their phones these days. Even simple photo editing is simpler on a phone than on a computer. To the community: has anyone found a good way to create 'ibles on their mobile platforms? If people could create posts straight from their phones, while on the bus or train or whatever, then we'd see a lot more active users.

Coin Slot to Arduino... Need Help. What to do?

Hey guys, been doing one of the project in instructables w/c is this Interfacing a Coin Slot to a Arduino. Read and done the instructions provided in the project. But there seems to be a problem bec. i can't seem to get the desired output. I have a Coin Slot w/c was already set to 3 different types of coins (P1, P5.00, P10.00)(Philippine Coins) Set it up according to the instructions of the project, "COIN" white wire connected to pin2 (interrupt pin 0) of the arduino, common ground connection of the arduino and the coin slot (12V), and for an easy way to see the output i put up 3 LEDs on pin8, pin9, and pin10. This is the code i used, (modified)(original comments still there) -- const int coinInt = 0; //Attach coinInt to Interrupt Pin 0 (Digital Pin 2). Pin 3 = Interrpt Pin 1. volatile float coinsValue = 0.00; //Set the coinsValue to a Volatile float //Volatile as this variable changes any time the Interrupt is triggered int coinsChange = 0; int OneLed = 8; int FiveLed = 9; int TenLed = 10; //A Coin has been inserted flag void setup() {   pinMode(OneLed, OUTPUT);   pinMode(FiveLed, OUTPUT);   pinMode(TenLed, OUTPUT);   Serial.begin(9600);                 //Start Serial Communication      attachInterrupt(coinInt, coinInserted, RISING);   //If coinInt goes HIGH (a Pulse), call the coinInserted function //An attachInterrupt will always trigger, even if your using delays } void coinInserted()    //The function that is called every time it recieves a pulse {   coinsValue = coinsValue + 1;  //As we set the Pulse to represent 5p or 5c we add this to the coinsValue   coinsChange = 1;                           //Flag that there has been a coin inserted } void loop() {   if(coinsChange == 1)          //Check if a coin has been Inserted   {    if (coinsValue == 1)     {        digitalWrite(OneLed, HIGH);        delay(1000);        digitalWrite(OneLed, LOW);     }     else if (coinsValue == 5)     {        digitalWrite(FiveLed, HIGH);        delay(1000);        digitalWrite(FiveLed, LOW);     }     else if (coinsValue == 10)     {        digitalWrite(TenLed, HIGH);        delay(1000);        digitalWrite(TenLed, LOW);     } //Print the Value of coins inserted   coinsChange = 0;   } } -- Rather than using microsoft express, i wanted to use simple LEDs on pin8, pin9, and pin10 to indicate if the program read the input correctly. after doing the wiring, and coding in the arduino, i tested to see if it would work. NONE of the LEDs light up after inserting coins on the coinslot. Need Help! :X
