A week of weeks, these last 4 days have been..... Answered

I hope I am not coming off lately as just complaining about life in general, but just letting those who know me well enough to want to know, how things are going.

This has just been ONE OF THOSE WEEKS (and it isn't over yet ! ).

Monday and Tues, I had to help my wife prep for cataract surgery (two days off, but not really much of a "vacation"), Wed.  she still needed assistance in picking things up off the floor when she'd drop them....and today, I had to go in and meet my Mom at the Ear doctor (she's been around 60% deaf since early childhood, but never wanted to learn ASL).

They cleaned out her ears, checked the hearing aid, and put fresh batteries in it.....then since none of that helped, they checked her hearing.

A 120 db beep was inaudible to her.   And, being quite advanced in age, and slowly slipping into senility, she is unable to accept this "new" condition.  It is very disheartening to not be able to help or do anything at all to help.

I know this is not really a "social" arena, and is more geared towards DIY then just airing greivences,  but I thought I would share this one thing and hope I didn't irritate too many of you all out there.
Thanks for reading....

you can't be born without dying...the dying part is very hard for those left behind.

Well, she has a lot of "life" left in her, she is just not very mobile anymore and now with the loss of the last bit of her hearing (not understanding much before now, because of not having much of her hearing); it is very hard to communicate (she refused to learn ASL, and so now she is left with...silence and almost no way to communicate except for the inexact method of reading lips). It is very frustrating for her....and hard for me to watch; not being able to do anything about it nor help in any way.

My wife's parents used to live with us. They never socialized with their
church group.
Her mom was demanding and worse after the first leg amputation,
followed by dad going senile and incontinent.
I wont go into details but h--- on earth till they passed.
Wife's sister couldn't help.  People you loved TANJ.   A

It is really hard for her since she has never understood much of anything, having been without hearing much of her young life, and getting a hearing aid only later in school. I just wish I could comfort her somehow....helpless is the worst feeling in the world...

I understand you. Today the doctor confirmed that my wife has TWO malignant tumors, one in her neck, other in her groin. We expect long days, weeks and months of suffering. But while there is life, there is hope!!

Yes, I remember my Dad going through advanced colon cancer that had spread all over....he died at the age of 49. Thankfully for Hospice, who was able to manage his pain pretty well up until the last day or so.....

My Mom has always been VERY hard of hearing and now this is confusing and very disturbing to her....and I don't have any way to help comfort here at this time, either.
