Thank god! It's animated!!!!!! I don't think I can take another live action adaptation.

Live action? Of Astro Boy? I don't think I've ever heard such a thing.

Luckily. But live action adaptations have become increasingly popular with movie studios. I was afraid when I read the topic that it was live action.

Do you mean, for instance, like the Underdog movie?

That movie was absolutely terrible.

It certainly did not carry the Satirical atmosphere that the original cartoon always had :-)

TBH, I don't think I've ever seen the original cartoons (of Astro Boy). Only the "newer" cartoons aired on cartoon network in the early 2000s. I may have to look some up.

Oh, I meant my last comment concerning the Underdog movie....I haven't seen the Astroboy movie (is it out yet? ). Nor have I seen anything "AstroBoy" that was in color...early 2000's you say, hmmm. The early Astroboys, many were VERY politically influenced (about the war, Hitler and etc.) The little robot that wanted so much to be a real boy (Pinocchio syndrome ;-)

I don't think the movie is out yet. But yeah, I've seen the Underdog movie and the show... There's a lot in the show that little kids wouldn't pick up, but make me chuckle a bit. Definitely a different tone in the two. Concerning the AstroBoy original TV series, when you say "the war", do you mean WWII or the Cold War, or perhaps some of both? Did they just take place in that era or did it tend to politically "lean" a certain way?

Let's put it this way (although I wasn't around for the early parts of this, I have seen them rerun them), there was a long series of AstroBoy cartoons that depicted AstroBoy fighting the forces of the Evil Hitler regime. By the time I was alive (and old enough to remember) AstroBoy was much less politically involved.

Looks interesting (hopefully it will be a lot LESS politically read, propaganda directed then the original series :-)
