Anoying Add Answered

I couldn't help but notice the new ad for Ace Hardware on the site. Glad to see you are getting some ad revenue for the site. But does the thing have to bring up a larger popup version of the add every time my mouse just happens to cross over it? This is really putting a drag on my browsing experience for the site. If you could disable the automatic popup of the ad that would be great.

I'm not too pleased with the fact that I pay for a pro memberships and now all these advertisements are popping up all over the place that disrupt my searching and reading on this site. That should be removed from the pro version of the site. I will certainly take this into account when it comes to renewing.

the fine print on pro membership is that you will not receive any adverts but ~less~ advertising and targeted to our fine audience...woohoo. Stick around, don't pay for your memberships, win them.

There are a number of products and companies that I do not use or buy from because the adds for them turn me off to them or their product. This ace hardware add is one of those. Not the add itself but the way it is stuck in your face whether you want it or not and then you have to find the close button to get rid of it. THIS IS SERIOUS ENOUGH THAT i MIGHT LOSE MY INTEREST IN GOING THERE FOR MY HARDWARE NEEDS - AND i GO THERE A LOT. TURN THAT ADD OFF OR AT LEAST LET US KNOW HOW TO TURN IT OFF OURSELVES. (YES I AM SHOUTING!) I know you have a "be nice" comment policy. This is one thing that is not nice and there is no way to make it nice.

Solution to the problem on both sides. Delay the pop out by a second or so, so passing the mouse over it won't automatically open it but the ad gets kept and functional...

I have to agree. In fact, I came into the forums today just to find a place to complain about it.

Today I got the ad on the righthand column as well as a banner ad across the top. It was like running the gauntlet trying to click the forum link without setting the ad off.

On the main page there is a banner across the top and an ad in the right hand column. Any time i try to get around one i hit the other. Half the time i end up clicking on the popup rather then the place i wanted to click on. I'm just glad i have ad blocker at home so i don't have to deal with it there.

Just an FYI to the site developers... These kinds of ads push people to use ad blockers. Meaning you get less views and click throughs on your ads and reducing your possible revenue. So don't allow these sorts of ads and don't let an add play a video when the page loads or is the mouse happens to cross it.

I have not seen the ad in question, but that behavior is very annoying. so I agree, get rid of it.
