There are plenty of articles on how to make guitars, I'm wondering if just maybe increasing the measurements would do it... ?
I've tuned my classical guitar down to drop A before with 'Folk Singer' strings (I'm assuming they're medium tension) but it isn't very loud, and the looseness of it makes it harder to play. I really like the sound of Folk Singer strings, but I'm wondering if the extra few $ would be worth it if high tension strings would allow me to play some good ol' hard rock.
it is possible to get any tuning on almost any instrument with the right strings. if you know the general size of the strings you have try experimenting by getting a few sizes of single strings until you get a sound you like. one source for single strings is here: http://www.stringsandbeyond.com/singlestrings.html , but many music stores will have left over singles.
