Arduino or Raspberry Pi Controlled Lighting scemes for Lightstrips Answered

Hello I'm trying to make a lighting setup like Star Trek Voyager,

With custom lighting scemes for allert modes etc
I will have to control 8 induvidual lightstrips with an arduino or raspberry Pi.
And have some sort of control mechanisme to set the individual modes.
I seen some examples online but they all used wifi connections, And I like a different option.

Any help would be very appriciated.
