Are the parts in 5th generation iPods interchangeable in spite of differing harddrive sizes? Answered

I have two 5th generation IPods. On the 30gb, the battery needs replaced, and on the 80gb the screen needs replaced along with the motherboard. Is it possible to simply combine the working innards of both iPods into one functioning, 80gb iPod?

well if the motherboard needs to be replaced im pretty sure u cant get the thirty gb into 80 gb. however, its worth the try, and they should be interchangable. from what i understand the extra memory is just another chip on the motherboard, so there should be no problems if they are the same. If they are different colors i would mix and match to make it different colors, ie different scroll wheel and case
