No, because the Wii has no hard drive to store it.
It relies on programs loading directly from pre-recorded DVDs.

Whoops - Yes, you're right. I'd forgotten about the SD card which I now see is where it puts the additional content. As you say, you can download it from the Wii online shop and RB checks for content on the card as it's starting up.
