Area Paypal donation links acceptable?
Is it acceptable to request Paypal donations in the how-to guides we create (via a link)? Similarly, is it acceptable to offer completed versions of the item for sale within the guide?

Both are acceptable.
A few authors have tried the paypal donation route in the past, and it has not yielded results. Selling an item, however, is a mixed bag with extreme success from authors such as ladyada and not so extreme success from others. If your item fits the guidelines, you might try Etsy as a way to sell, with links to your item on Etsy from Instructables.
