Audio?
OK so i just thought of something, but I don't know if it can be done. Ive googled and such, but i was unsuccessful. Is it possible to take an audio frequency and create electricity? Similar to a solar panel, but the instead of taking light, i take sound. Ive seen on instructables those LED candles that play a song. You can hear it with a solar panel and an amplifier. I want to know how to do the reverse. Could I take a sound, and power something with it. it would have to have SOME power to begin with, i would assume. maybe a charged capacitor? maybe i would take a microphone and somehow convert it into power (not data) I don't know how to do this. Does audio have positive and negative leads when connected to a circuit? this is really cool. I could charge my cell phone by talking on it! I could scream at my light bulb for being turned off (due to know power) and watch it light!

Haha, I've had the same idea, but always assumed it was impossible or impractical since it hasn't been done yet. Mostly anything you can think of has been thought before in my experience... :D

Haha, that's sort of what I was thinking. (Lol, I'm still going to see how much the piezos generate just in case).

Basically microphones already convert sound energy to electric waves, so it seems they *already* do this (kind of).
Basically the general concept looks feasible, but I think it looks like it would be massively impractical for small-scale usage. Perhaps to harness the sound in extremely loud areas, though...

Hmmm... great idea! I'm doing some research on it and it looks like the university of utah is doing some research into it. There's also a Wired article saying that sound energy might have to do with the way nerves communicate. (Links to those articles below).
It sounds like it would definitely be possible, but I'm not sure how effective it would be. I made a knock sensor (never published as an ible) using arduino and a piezo. The way the arduino would know there was a knock would be when the piezo generated volts and sent it to the arduino. I'll look into this more.

Also, this gives me an idea for a project. I could charge my phone by playing my guitar. I'll look into it some more.
