Browse items no longer showing rating or number of comments?
It appears that in restoring the "old" 5 x 4 with square thumbnails to Browse, we have lost the indicators for number of comments and for ratings (stars).

Indeed, this is part of our efforts to clean things up a bit.

If I see a rating, it is an indication that something was worth a rating +/-. It helps, esp. if something is poor, because people don't generally want to rate cack as it gets ~3 with one rating (much higher than it deserves). I won't rate poor stuff unless someone else has already, so it's a function I did use. For example:
www.instructables.com/id/Survival-The-Inevitible-Zombie-Attack./
www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Survive-a-Zombie-Invasion-1/

Okay, thanks, Noah! I did use the ratings of non-K'nex (hi, DJ :-) I'bles as one criterion of whether they might be interesting or not. However, that's just me.
You have sufficient statistics to show how often the individual I'bles are accessed from the various Browse pages. Presumably, those statistics show zero (or very low) correlation between rating values and number of click-throughs. If the correlation was high, then I would expect you to keep the feature as something useful to the majority of users.

Hey Kelsey,
I'd just like to take this opportunity to say that I think you are awesome. You pretty much dominate the bugs section for Instructables and do an amazing job at it. I can't imagine a more useful and helpful member of the community.
If there's ever anything that I can do to help you, on the site or off, please don't hesitate to let me know. Such excellent work deserves more recognition then this, but for today, I just wanted you to know, that I thank you.

Who needs ratings? I would like to see an option for them to be disabled like on Youtube lol.

It appears that way but I don't find it a bad evolution.
I rarely check the rating of an instructable nor am I going to look at it because there are alot of comments on it.
If I should just look for those two I'd be checking knex ibles 24/7 as those are the most ibles that generate comments and good ratings (has more to do with the knexers then with the ible.
I just check by the picture and the title if the ible interests me. I do agree with you on another topic you started that we need to know if it's a video, slideshow or a regular ible. I don't look at videos much around here since you don't know if they made it or not.

Possibly part of the on-going visual tidying up?
