Can I make an LCD screen show me what an Image Sensor is viewing? Answered

Hey, I was wondering if anyone could tell me how I could wire up an Image Sensor and a small LCD screen to show me what the Image Sensor is viewing - I know that this is done in Digital Cameras, Camcorders by the viewfinder (I'm looking to make something a bit like that), but I was wondering how I could make a circuit that only showed me how to view what the image sensor was viewing without the extras of taking photos/recording videos.

What you're describing is 'closed circuit television' or CCTV - as in the video comes from a camera and goes straight to a monitor. Sure its possible, in fact preferable in many situations. Any camera with a video-out and any monitor/tv with video-in will work.

I think I am currently working on the same sort of project as Ulthran is. If I am interpreting what is being said correctly, essentially what is trying to be done is to take a CMOS from a camera, an LCD from some other item, such as a phone, and to find a way to power the whole mess. Without any of the other silly functions like picture taking ability, and to make it as small as possible by cutting out all that superfluous stuff.<br /> <br /> The hack I'm currently working on that led me here is a personal IR handheld monitor that would have only an input CMOS (taken from an old Digital Camera that can detect IR), and the LCD from said camera, and finding a way to make it work without using the current camera programming that gets in the way and all the silly other PCB (printed circuit board) stuff.<br /> <br /> Anyway, what I've put together so far that might work out of the box is the link Silent Swat put up and something else I found.<br /> <br /> <a href="http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=8739">www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php</a><br /> <a href="http://www.aeicomp.com/search_result.asp?MANUFACTURER=LCD%20Modules&CATEGORY=LCD%20Monitors">www.aeicomp.com/search_result.asp<br /> <br /> </a>Of course, these things are relatively expensive for a minor project... But it is sort of an answer, since the LCD's input RCA and the Sensor component outputs RCA...
