Can I power a motor off a solar 12v cell?
Hi, I have a 12v, 0.5 watt solar cell and wanted to use it to power a motor without the use of rechargeable batteries. Basically, when the sun is shining, the motor is spinning. I have a few small motors lying around and tried to hook them straight up but none of them would turn (even though some of these will run off a 1.2v AAA battery).
I'm guessing maybe there aren't enough amps to power the motor so I was wondering if there was any way to bring down the voltage and increase the amps so that it might work?
Thanks.

Joule thief circuit?

That's a "boost" circuit, the OP needs a "buck" circuit.
